ਤਾਰ੍ਉ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਮਾਯਾ ਮਦ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਅਉ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥
taar-ya-o sansaar maa-yaa mad mohit amrit naam dee-a-o samrath.
The omnipotent Guru (Ramdas) has ferried the world, infatuated with the egotistical pride of Maya, across the world-ocean of vices and blessed people with the ambrosial nectar of Naam.
ਸਮਰਥ ਗੁਰੂ (ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮਦ ਵਿਚ ਮੋਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ-ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਫੁਨਿ ਕੀਰਤਿਵੰਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਅਰੁ ਸਿਧਿ ਨ ਛੋਡਇ ਸਥੁ ॥
fun keertivant sadaa sukh sampat riDh ar siDh na chhod-ay sath.
In addition, the praiseworthy Guru is always the bestower of eternal peace, wealth and prosperity, and miraculous powers never forsake him.
ਆਪ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ, ਧਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਹਨ, ਰਿੱਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਆਪ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦੀ।
ਦਾਨਿ ਬਡੌ ਅਤਿਵੰਤੁ ਮਹਾਬਲਿ ਸੇਵਕਿ ਦਾਸਿ ਕਹਿਓ ਇਹੁ ਤਥੁ ॥
daan badou ativant mahaabal sayvak daas kahi-o ih tath.
Devotee (bard Mathura) has said this truth that Guru (Ramdas) is a great benefactor and extremely powerful
ਗੁਰੂ (ਰਾਮਦਾਸ) ਬੜਾ ਦਾਨੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਤਿਅੰਤ ਮਹਾਬਲੀ ਹੈ, ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾਸ (ਮਥੁਰਾ) ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਤਾਹਿ ਕਹਾ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਕਾਹੂ ਕੀ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਬਸੀਸਿ ਧਰਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਥੁ ॥੭॥੪੯॥
taahi kahaa parvaah kaahoo kee jaa kai basees Dhari-o gur hath. ||7||49||
Upon whose head the Guru (Ramdas) has placed his hand of support, why should that person care for anyone? ||7||49||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ (ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨੇ ਹੱਥ ਧਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਕੀ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਹੈ? ॥੭॥੪੯॥
ਤੀਨਿ ਭਵਨ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸੋਈ ॥
teen bhavan bharpoor rahi-o so-ee.
That God who is totally pervading the three worlds (the entire universe);
(ਜਿਹੜਾ) ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
ਅਪਨ ਸਰਸੁ ਕੀਅਉ ਨ ਜਗਤ ਕੋਈ ॥
apan saras kee-a-o na jagat ko-ee.
who has created no one else in the world like Him,
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਜੀਵ ਜਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ,
ਆਪੁਨ ਆਪੁ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਪਾਯਉ ॥
aapun aap aap hee upaa-ya-o.
who Himself created Himself,
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਅਸੁਰ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਯਉ ॥
sur nar asur ant nahee paa-ya-o.
whose limits have not been found by angels, human beings and demons;
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ, ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਅਤੇ ਦੈਂਤ, ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ;
ਪਾਯਉ ਨਹੀ ਅੰਤੁ ਸੁਰੇ ਅਸੁਰਹ ਨਰ ਗਣ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਖੋਜੰਤ ਫਿਰੇ ॥
paa-ya-o nahee ant suray asureh nar gan ganDharab khojant firay.
yes, whom the angels, demons, heavenly musicians and their servants are searching, but no one has found His limit:
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਦੇਵਤੇ, ਦੈਂਤ, ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ-ਖੋਜਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ:
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਅਚਲੁ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸੰਭਉ ਪੁਰਖੋਤਮੁ ਅਪਾਰ ਪਰੇ ॥
abhinaasee achal ajonee sambha-o purkhotam apaar paray.
That God who is eternal, stable, free of incarnations and self-manifested; that supreme God is beyond infinity,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਬਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ, ਅਡੋਲ ਹੈ, ਜੂਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਤ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉੱਤਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਈ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਅ ਮਨਿ ਧੵਾਇਯਉ ॥
karan kaaran samrath sadaa so-ee sarab jee-a man Dhayaa-i-ya-o.
that all-powerful God is the creator of the universe and all human beings have lovingly remembered Him in their minds.
(ਜਿਹੜਾ) ਹਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, (ਜੋ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਆਂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜਯੋ ਜਯ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਯਉ ॥੧॥
saree gur raamdaas ja-yo ja-y jag meh tai har param pad paa-i-ya-o. ||1||
O’ revered Guru Ramdas, your glory resounds in the world, because you have attained the supreme status (of union) with God. ||1||
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ! ਆਪ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਜੈ-ਜੈਕਾਰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ (ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਦੀ ਪਰਮ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀਅਉ ॥
satgur naanak bhagat karee ik man tan man Dhan gobind dee-a-o.
Guru Nanak, the true Guru, worshipped God with single minded devotion and surrendered his mind, body and wealth before God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਕ-ਮਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ, ਤੇ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਤਨ ਮਨ ਧਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਪਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਅੰਗਦਿ ਅਨੰਤ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਨਿਜ ਧਾਰੀ ਅਗਮ ਗੵਾਨਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਸੵਉ ਹੀਅਉ ॥
angad anant moorat nij Dhaaree agam ga-yaan ras ras-ya-o hee-a-o.
Guru Angad assumed the image of the infinite God, and delighted his heart with the divine wisdom and love of the unfathomable God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਨੇ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਤੇ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਿਲ ਰਸਾਇਆ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਅਮਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ਕੀਅਉ ਵਸਿ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਧੵਾਇਯਉ ॥
gur amardaas kartaar kee-a-o vas vaahu vaahu kar Dhayaa-i-ya-o.
Guru Amardas brought the Creator God under his loving control by repeatedly chanting His Name and lovingly remembering Him
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤਾ। ‘ਤੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਹੈਂ’- ਇਹ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ।

ਨਾਰਦੁ ਧ੍ਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦੁ ਸੁਦਾਮਾ ਪੁਬ ਭਗਤ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਜੁ ਗਣੰ ॥
naarad Dharoo parahlaad sudaamaa pub bhagat har kay jo ganaN.
Naarad, Dhroo, Prahlaad and Sudaamaa are counted among God’s devotees of the past ages.
ਨਾਰਦ, ਧ੍ਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ, ਸੁਦਾਮਾ- ਜੋ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਗਿਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ;
ਅੰਬਰੀਕੁ ਜਯਦੇਵ ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਚਨੁ ਨਾਮਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਭਣੰ ॥
ambreek ja-ydayv tarilochan naamaa avar kabeer bhanaN.
Ambreek, Jaidev, Trilochan, Namdev and Kabeer are also called God’s devotees,
ਅੰਬਰੀਕ, ਜੈਦੇਵ, ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਚਨ, ਨਾਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਬੀਰ (ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ) ਆਖੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਤਿਨ ਕੌ ਅਵਤਾਰੁ ਭਯਉ ਕਲਿ ਭਿੰਤਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਜਗਤ੍ਰ ਪਰਿ ਛਾਇਯਉ ॥
tin kou avtaar bha-ya-o kal bhintar jas jagtar par chhaa-i-ya-o.
although they were born in the present age of kalyug, still their glory has spread all over the world.
ਭਾਵੇਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਕਲਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਜਗਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਖਿਲਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜਯੋ ਜਯ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਯਉ ॥੩॥

ਮਨਸਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਿਮਰੰਤ ਤੁਝੈ ਨਰ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਮਿਟਿਅਉ ਜੁ ਤਿਣੰ ॥
mansaa kar simrant tujhai nar kaam kroDh miti-a-o jo tinaN.
(O’ Guru Ramdas), those who lovingly remember you (and follow your teachings) with true faith in their mind, their lust and anger vanishes.
(ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ!) ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਚਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਿਮਰੰਤ ਤੁਝੈ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ ਦੁਖੁ ਦਰਿਦ੍ਰੁ ਮਿਟਯਉ ਜੁ ਖਿਣੰ ॥
baachaa kar simrant tujhai tinH dukh daridar miti-ya-o jo khinaN.
Those who lovingly remember you by uttering your Name with their tongue, their sorrows and destitution are erased in an instant.
ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ) ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਦਰਿਦ੍ਰ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਤੁਅ ਦਰਸ ਪਰਸ ਪਾਰਸ ਸਰ ਬਲ੍ ਭਟ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਯਉ ॥
karam kar tu-a daras paras paaras sar bal-y bhat jas gaa-i-ya-o.
Ballh, the bard, sings your praises and says, those who see your blessed vision through their deeds, become like a mythical philosopher’s stone.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ! ਬਲ੍ ਭੱਟ ਆਪ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਪਾਰਸ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜਯੋ ਜਯ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਯਉ ॥੪॥

O’ revered Guru Ramdas, your glory resounds in the world, because you have attained the supreme status (of union) with God. ||4||
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ! ਆਪ ਦੀ ਜੈ-ਜੈਕਾਰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ (ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਦੀ ਪਰਮ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਜਿਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਮਰੰਤ ਨਯਨ ਕੇ ਤਿਮਰ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਖਿਨੁ ॥
jih satgur simrant na-yan kay timar miteh khin.
That true Guru, by remembering whom with adoration, darkness of ignorance of the eyes vanishes in an instant.
ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ, ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਮਰੰਥਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿਨੋ ਦਿਨੁ ॥
jih satgur simranth ridai har naam dino din.
That true Guru, by remembering whom with adoration, God’s Name becomes more firmly enshrined in the heart day after day.
ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿਨੋ ਦਿਨ (ਵਧੀਕ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ);
ਜਿਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਮਰੰਥਿ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਤਪਤਿ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ॥
jih satgur simranth jee-a kee tapat mitaavai.
That true Guru, by remembering whom with adoration, one eradicates the agony of his mind.
ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ (ਜੀਵ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਤਪਤ ਮਿਟਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਮਰੰਥਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
jih satgur simranth riDh siDh nav niDh paavai.
That true Guru, by remembering whom with adoration, one feels as if he has received all the miraculous powers and nine treasures of the world.
ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਜੀਵ) ਰਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਨੌ ਨਿਧੀਆਂ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਸੋਈ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਬਲ੍ ਭਣਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਕਰਹੁ ॥
so-ee raamdaas gur bal-y bhan mil sangat Dhan Dhan karahu.
Ballh, the bard says, join the holy congregation and sing the praises of that Guru Ramdas.
ਬਲ੍ (ਕਵੀ) ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਨੂੰ ਆਖੋ-‘ਤੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਹੈਂ’,
ਜਿਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਲਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਨਰਹੁ ॥੫॥੫੪॥
jih satgur lag parabh paa-ee-ai so satgur simrahu marahu. ||5||54||
O’ mortals, lovingly remember that true Guru by following whose teachings we realize God. ||5||54||
ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਜਨੋ! ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰੋ ॥੫॥੫੪॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਤ ਨ ਛੋਡਿਓ ਪਾਸੁ ॥
jin sabad kamaa-ay param pad paa-i-o sayvaa karat na chhodi-o paas.
The one (Guru Ramdas) who attained supreme status by following the Guru’s divine word, and while serving (Guru Amardas) never left his company,
ਜਿਸ (ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਾ ਕੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਈ, ਅਤੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਥ ਨਾ ਛੱਡਿਆ,
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਗਉਹਰੁ ਗੵਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਉਜੀਆਰਉ ਦੁਖ ਦਰਿਦ੍ਰ ਅੰਧੵਾਰ ਕੋ ਨਾਸੁ ॥
taa tay ga-uhar ga-yaan pargat ujee-aara-o dukh daridar anDh-yaar ko naas.
from him the Guru’s word manifested the jewel-like illumination of divine wisdom, which destroyed the sorrows, destitution and darkness of ignorance.
ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਤੋਂ ਮੋਤੀ-ਵਤ ਉੱਜਲ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਇਆ, ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕਸ਼ਟ, ਕੰਗਾਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ ।
