ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਰਮਾਰਥੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਖਚਨਾ ॥
gur parsaad paa-ee-ai parmaarath satsangat saytee man khachnaa.
O’ Guru, it is through your grace that the supreme spiritual knowledge is attained, and the mind is absorbed in the holy congregation.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉਚਾ/ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਆਤਮ-ਗਿਆਨਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਕੀਆ ਖੇਲੁ ਬਡ ਮੇਲੁ ਤਮਾਸਾ ਵਾਹਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਰਚਨਾ ॥੩॥੧੩॥੪੨॥
kee-aa khayl bad mayl tamaasaa vaahguroo tayree sabh rachnaa. ||3||13||42||
O’ the wonderful God, all this universe is Your creation; it is You who has set up this great show and play of the world. ||3||13||42||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਹੈਂ, ਇਹ ਰਚਨਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ; (ਤੱਤਾਂ ਦਾ) ਮੇਲ (ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਤੂੰ ਇਹ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਤੇ ਖੇਲ ਰਚਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੧੩॥੪੨॥
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਨੰਤੁ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਆਦਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
agam anant anaad aad jis ko-ay na jaanai.
That unfathomable, infinite and eternal God, whose beginning no one knows,
ਜੋ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਅਨੰਤ ਹੈ, ਅਨਾਦਿ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ,
ਸਿਵ ਬਿਰੰਚਿ ਧਰਿ ਧੵਾਨੁ ਨਿਤਹਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਬੇਦੁ ਬਖਾਣੈ ॥
siv biranch Dhar Dhayaan niteh jis bayd bakhaanai.
on whom god Shiva and god Brahma always meditate, and Veda describes whose virtues.
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਸਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਧਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ (ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਵੇਦ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਦੂਸਰ ਕੋਈ ॥
nirankaar nirvair avar nahee doosar ko-ee.
That formless God is without enmity, and there is none other like Him.
ਉਹ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਕਾਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਵੈਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
ਭੰਜਨ ਗੜ੍ਹਣ ਸਮਥੁ ਤਰਣ ਤਾਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
bhanjan garhHan samath taran taaran parabh so-ee.
He is powerful enough to create and destroy living beings, and is like a ship to ferry mortals across the worldly ocean of vices.
ਉਹ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਾਗਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤਾਰਣ ਲਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗੁ ਕੀਓ ਜਨੁ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਸੈ ॥
naanaa parkaar jin jag kee-o jan mathuraa rasnaa rasai.
With his tongue the bard Mathura joyfully utters the praises of that God who has created this universe in myriad ways.
ਜਿਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਗਤ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਸ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਚਿਤਹ ਬਸੈ ॥੧॥
saree sat naam kartaa purakh gur raamdaas chitah basai. ||1||
That all pervading revered eternal Creator-God resides in the heart of Guru Ramdas. ||1||
ਉਹੀ ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਗਹਿ ਕਰੀਆ ਧ੍ਰੁਵ ਬੁਧਿ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਰਨ ਕਉ ॥
guroo samrath geh karee-aa Dharuv buDh sumat samHaaran ka-o.
To attain steady and sublime intellect, I have grasped the support of the all-powerful Guru,
ਅਡੋਲ ਬੁੱਧ ਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਮੱਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੈ,
ਫੁਨਿ ਧ੍ਰੰਮ ਧੁਜਾ ਫਹਰੰਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਅਘ ਪੁੰਜ ਤਰੰਗ ਨਿਵਾਰਨ ਕਉ ॥
fun Dharamm Dhujaa fahrant sadaa agh punj tarang nivaaran ka-o.
whose flag of righteousness is always flying to eradicate all the waves of sins.
ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜਿਸ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਝੰਡਾ ਸਦਾ ਝੁੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਥੁਰਾ ਜਨ ਜਾਨਿ ਕਹੀ ਜੀਅ ਸਾਚੁ ਸੁ ਅਉਰ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਬਿਚਾਰਨ ਕਉ ॥
mathuraa jan jaan kahee jee-a saach so a-or kachhoo na bichaaran ka-o.
After due deliberation, devotee Mathura has uttered this truth and there is nothing else to consider,
ਦਾਸ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਨੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਚ-ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਚਾਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਬਡੌ ਕਲਿ ਮੈ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਨ ਕਉ ॥੨॥
har naam bohith badou kal mai bhav saagar paar utaaran ka-o. ||2||
that in the present age of kalyug, God’s Name is the mighty ship to ferry across the world-ocean of vices. ||2||
ਕਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਾਗਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਕਲਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੰਤਤ ਹੀ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੰਗ ਸੁਰੰਗ ਰਤੇ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਤ ਹੈ ॥
santat hee satsangat sang surang ratay jas gaavat hai.
Those who join the company of the saints and imbued with celestial love sing the praises of God,
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀਜ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਧ੍ਰਮ ਪੰਥੁ ਧਰਿਓ ਧਰਨੀਧਰ ਆਪਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਧਾਰਿ ਨ ਧਾਵਤ ਹੈ ॥
Dharam panth Dhari-o DharneeDhar aap rahay liv Dhaar na Dhaavat hai.
they do not wander in any other direction because God, the support of the earth, Himself has established this Path of divine faith (righteousness).
ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ-ਦੇ-ਆਸਰੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਰਾਹ ਆਪ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਮਥੁਰਾ ਭਨਿ ਭਾਗ ਭਲੇ ਉਨ੍ਹ੍ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਇਛਤ ਹੀ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਤ ਹੈ ॥
mathuraa bhan bhaag bhalay unH kay man ichhat hee fal paavat hai.
The bard Mathura says, fortunate are those people and they receive the fruits of their mind’s desire
ਭੱਟ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ!, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਗ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨ-ਭਾਉਂਦੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਰਵਿ ਕੇ ਸੁਤ ਕੋ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਤ੍ਰਾਸੁ ਕਹਾ ਜੁ ਚਰੰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਤ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
rav kay sut ko tinH taraas kahaa jo charann guroo chit laavat hai. ||3||
who focus their mind on the Guru’s teachings and how can they be afraid of the judge of righteousness, the son of the Sun?
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?॥੩॥
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਧਾ ਪਰਪੂਰਨ ਸਬਦ ਤਰੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਤ ਦਿਨ ਆਗਰੁ ॥
nirmal naam suDhaa parpooran sabad tarang paragtit din aagar.
The Guru is like such a pool which is overflowing with the immaculate nectar of Naam, in which the waves of divine word surge in the early hours before dawn.
ਗੁਰੂ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਉੱਠਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ਅਥਾਹ ਅਤਿ ਬਡ ਸੁਭਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਰਤਨਾਗਰੁ ॥
gahir gambheer athaah at bad subhar sadaa sabh biDh ratnaagar.
This pool (the Guru) is deep, profound, unfathomable and utterly great; it always remains filled and he is the treasure of priceless virtues.
(ਇਹ ਸਰੋਵਰ) ਬੜਾ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਤੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਤ ਮਰਾਲ ਕਰਹਿ ਕੰਤੂਹਲ ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਗਰੁ ॥
sant maraal karahi kantoohal tin jam taraas miti-o dukh kaagar.
The saints enjoy and revel in this pool like the swans, because for them their account of sorrows and the dread of demons of death have been erased.
(ਉਸ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ) ਸੰਤ-ਹੰਸ ਕਲੋਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਦੁਰਤ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਬੇ ਕਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਗਲ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ॥੪॥
kaljug durat door karbay ka-o darsan guroo sagal sukh saagar. ||4||
To eradicate the sins in the present age of kalyug, and teachings of the Guru are like the ocean of all peace and comfort. ||4||
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਮੁਨਿ ਧੵਾਨੁ ਧਰੈ ਫਿਰਤ ਸਗਲ ਜੁਗ ਕਬਹੁ ਕ ਕੋਊ ਪਾਵੈ ਆਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਕਉ ॥
jaa ka-o mun Dhayaan Dharai firat sagal jug kabahu ka ko-oo paavai aatam pargaas ka-o.
That God for whose sake the sages contemplate and keep wandering age after age, but occasionally a rare one gains self enlightenment.
ਜਿਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਖਾਤਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ,ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਕਦੇ ਹੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬੇਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਿਤ ਬਿਰੰਚਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਸਿਵ ਮੁਨਿ ਗਹਿ ਨ ਤਜਾਤ ਕਬਿਲਾਸ ਕੰਉ ॥
bayd banee sahit biranch jas gaavai jaa ko siv mun geh na tajaat kabilaas kaN-u.
That God whose praises god Brahma sings along with the Vedic hymns, and for whose sake god Shiva doesn’t abandon the Kailash mountain,
ਜਿਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਮੇਤ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਕੈਲਾਸ਼ ਪਰਬਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ;
ਜਾ ਕੌ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤੀ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਤਪ ਜਟਾ ਜੂਟ ਭੇਖ ਕੀਏ ਫਿਰਤ ਉਦਾਸ ਕਉ ॥
jaa kou jogee jatee siDh saaDhik anayk tap jataa joot bhaykh kee-ay firat udaas ka-o.
and for whose sake the yogis, celibates, adepts, and seekers do many penances and wander as renunciates wearing religious garbs and matted hair.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੋਗੀ, ਜਤੀ, ਸਿੱਧ ਤੇ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਤਪ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਟਾ-ਜੂਟ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਦਾਸ-ਭੇਖ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਭਾਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਬਡਾਈ ਦਈ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਕਉ ॥੫॥
so tin satgur sukh bhaa-ay kirpaa Dhaaree jee-a naam kee badaa-ee da-ee gur raamdaas ka-o. ||5||
The true Guru (Amardas), in His pleasure bestowed mercy on the mortals and blessed Guru Ramdas with the glory of God’s Name. ||5||
ਉਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਅਮਰਦਾਸ) ਨੇ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜੀਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ॥੫॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਧਿਆਨ ਅੰਤਰਗਤਿ ਤੇਜ ਪੁੰਜ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਗ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੇ ॥
naam niDhaan Dhi-aan antargat tayj punj tihu log pargaasay.
Guru Ramdas, the treasure of Naam, remains focused on God within him andhis divine wisdom enlightens the three worlds.
ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਖਜਾਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ, ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਸਾਈਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਆਪ ਦੇ) ਤੇਜ ਦਾ ਪੁੰਜ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਮਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
ਦੇਖਤ ਦਰਸੁ ਭਟਕਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਜਤ ਦੁਖ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਬਿਗਾਸੇ ॥
daykhat daras bhatak bharam bhajat dukh parhar sukh sahj bigaasay.
Seeing his blessed vision, all one’s doubts flee away, the sorrows vanish and inner peace wells up intuitively.
(ਆਪ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ) ਭਰਮ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੇਵਕ ਸਿਖ ਸਦਾ ਅਤਿ ਲੁਭਿਤ ਅਲਿ ਸਮੂਹ ਜਿਉ ਕੁਸਮ ਸੁਬਾਸੇ ॥
sayvak sikh sadaa at lubhit al samooh ji-o kusam subaasay.
Just as swarms of bumble bees continue gathering around the fragrance of flowers, the Guru’s devotees and disciples always remain attracted to him.
ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸ਼ਿਕ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭੌਰੇ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ।
ਬਿਦ੍ਮਾਨ ਗੁਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਥਪ੍ਉ ਥਿਰੁ ਸਾਚਉ ਤਖਤੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੈ ॥੬॥
bid-yamaan gur aap thap-ya-o thir saacha-o takhat guroo raamdaasai. ||6||
Right in his own presence, Guru Amardas himself established Guru Ramdas on the true and eternal throne of Guru-ship. ||6||
