ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar sat naam kartaa purakh nirbha-o nirvair akaal moorat ajoonee saibhaN gur parsaad.
There is only one God whose Name is ‘of Eternal Existence’. He is the creator of the universe, all-pervading, without fear, without enmity, independent of time, beyond the cycle of birth and death, self revealed and is realized by the Guru’s grace.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਹੋਂਦ ਵਾਲਾ’ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਭੈ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਵੈਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਕਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ), ਜੋ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

Swaiyas uttered by the Fifth Guru:
ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ) ਦੇ ਮੁਖਾਰਬਿੰਦ ਤੋਂ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਵਯੇ।
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਭ ਆਪੇ ॥
aad purakh kartaar karan kaaran sabh aapay.
O’ the primal Being, the Creator, You Yourself are the cause of the universe.
ਹੇ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ! ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਰਬ ਰਹਿਓ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਸਗਲ ਘਟ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਿਆਪੇ ॥
sarab rahi-o bharpoor sagal ghat rahi-o bi-aapay.
You pervade everywhere and You are present in all bodies.
ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਹੈਂ; ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ।
ਬੵਾਪਤੁ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਜਗਤਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਕਉਨੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਸਰਬ ਕੀ ਰਖੵਾ ਕਰੈ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਤਿ ॥
ba-yaapat daykhee-ai jagat jaanai ka-un tayree gat sarab kee rakh-yaa karai aapay har pat.
O’ God, the Master! You are seen pervading throughout the world; who can know Your state? You protect all the living beings.
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੇਰੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ? ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ (ਜੀਆਂ) ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਅਬਿਗਤ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਉਤਪਤਿ ॥
abhinaasee abigat aapay aap utpat.
O’ God, You are eternal and formless; You came into existence by Yourself.
(ਹੇ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ!) ਤੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਤੋ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈਂ ; ਤੇਰੀ ਉਤਪੱਤੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਏਕੈ ਤੂਹੀ ਏਕੈ ਅਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੁਮ ਭਤਿ ॥
aykai toohee aykai an naahee tum bhat.
You are the One and Only; there is none like You.
ਤੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕੋ ਹੀ ਇਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ਕਉਨੁ ਹੈ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਜਗਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕੋ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
har ant naahee paaraavaar ka-un hai karai beechaar jagat pitaa hai sarab paraan ko aDhaar.
O’ God, You have no end or limit, who is there to deliberate on Your end or limit? You are the Father of the entire world, and the support of the life of all.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਅਖੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਓੜਕ ਨਹੀਂ।ਕੌਣ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਤੇਰੇਹੱਦ-ਬੰਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਣ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਦਰਿ ਤੁਲਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਏਕ ਜੀਹ ਕਿਆ ਬਖਾਨੈ ॥
jan naanak bhagat dar tul barahm samsar ayk jeeh ki-aa bakhaanai.
Nanak, the devotee of God, has been approved in God’s presence, and he is like God Himself; how can my one tongue describe his glory?
(ਹਰੀ ਦਾ) ਭਗਤ ਸੇਵਕ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਨਾਨਕ (ਹਰੀ ਦੇ) ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਨ (ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ) ਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ। (ਮੇਰੀ) ਇਕ ਜੀਭ (ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ) ਕੀਹ (ਗੁਣ) ਕਥਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ?
ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
haaN ke bal bal bal bal sad balihaar. ||1||
I am dedicated again and again to Guru Nanak, the embodiment of God. ||1||
ਮੈਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੋਂ) ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਸਰਿ ਅਤੁਲ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਭਰਿ ਪਰੈ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਪਰੈ ਅਪਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਪਰਿ ॥
amrit parvaah sar atul bhandaar bhar parai hee tay parai apar apaar par.
O’ God, streams of the ambrosial nectar flow from You, Your inestimable treasurers are brimful and You are infinite and farther than the farthest.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਤੈਥੋਂ) ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਹ ਤੁਲ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ; ਤੂੰ ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈਂ।
ਆਪੁਨੋ ਭਾਵਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰਿ ਨ ਦੂਸਰੋ ਧਰਿ ਓਪਤਿ ਪਰਲੌ ਏਕੈ ਨਿਮਖ ਤੁ ਘਰਿ ॥
aapuno bhaavan kar mantar na doosro Dhar opat parloua aykai nimakh to ghar.
You do whatever pleases You without taking anyone’s advice, under Your command, creation and destruction in this world happens in an instant.
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ; ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਲ ਸਲਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ) ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ (ਭਾਵ, ਤੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ) ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਫੋਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਉਜੀਆਰੋ ਨਿਰਮਰਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰਾਛਤ ਜਾਹਿ ਨਾਮ ਲੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ॥
aan naahee samsar ujee-aaro nirmar kot paraachhat jaahi naam lee-ay har har.
No one else equals God, His light is immaculate and millions of sins are washed away by remembering His Name with adoration.
ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਹਰੀ ਵਰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ; ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਹੈ; ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਆਂ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਦਰਿ ਤੁਲਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਏਕ ਜੀਹ ਕਿਆ ਬਖਾਨੈ ॥

ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ॥੨॥

ਸਗਲ ਭਵਨ ਧਾਰੇ ਏਕ ਥੇਂ ਕੀਏ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੇ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਰੇ ॥
sagal bhavan Dhaaray ayk thayN kee-ay bisthaaray poor rahi-o sarab meh aap hai niraaray.
God has created all the worlds, He has established all the worldly expanse only from Himself; He pervades all and yet He is detached from all.
ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ; ਇਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ (ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ) ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ; ਆਪ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ (ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ) ਹੈ (ਭੀ) ਨਿਰਲੇਪ।
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਅੰਤ ਪਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਥਾਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੈ ਅਲਖ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ॥
har gun naahee ant paaray jee-a jant sabh thaaray sagal ko daataa aykai alakh muraaray.
O’ God! there is no end or limit to Your virtues, all the creatures and beings are Yours; You alone are the benefactor of all and You are incomprehensible
ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਤੇ ਪਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ (ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ); ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੇਰਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
