ਮਿਸਲ ਫਕੀਰਾਂ ਗਾਖੜੀ ਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੂਰ ਕਰੰਮਿ ॥੧੧੧॥
misal fakeeraaN gaakh-rhee so paa-ee-ai poor karamm. ||111||
This lifestyle of saintly people is challenging and is obtained only by good fortune. ||111||
ਇਹ ਫ਼ਕੀਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਰਹਿਣੀ ਬੜੀ ਔਖੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ॥੧੧੧॥
ਪਹਿਲੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਫੁਲੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਭੀ ਪਛਾ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
pahilai pahrai fulrhaa fal bhee pachhaa raat.
Remembering God in the first quarter of night is like a beautiful flower, but remembering Him during the last hours of night (early morning) is like fruit.
(ਰਾਤ ਦੇ) ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਇਕ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਫੁੱਲ ਹੈ, ਫਲ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਜਾਗੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਲਹੰਨਿ ਸੇ ਸਾਈ ਕੰਨੋ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੧੧੨॥
jo jaagaNniH lahann say saa-ee kanno daat. ||112||
However, those who wake up in early hours to remember God receive the benefaction from God. ||112||
ਜੋ ਬੰਦੇ (ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ) ਜਾਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੧੨॥
ਦਾਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੰਦੀਆ ਕਿਆ ਚਲੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
daatee saahib sandee-aa ki-aa chalai tis naal.
All bounties belong to God; who can force Him to bestow these?
ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ਾਂ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀਆਂ (ਆਪਣੀਆਂ) ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਨਾਲ (ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ) ਕੀਹ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਚੱਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਇਕਿ ਜਾਗੰਦੇ ਨਾ ਲਹਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਇਕਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਉਠਾਲਿ ॥੧੧੩॥
ik jaaganday naa lahniH iknHaa suti-aa day-ay uthaal. ||113||
Many may not receive these bounties even by waking up early, while God Himself may awaken many others from sleep to bless them. ||113||
ਕਈ (ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ) ਜਾਗਦੇ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈ ਸਕਦੇ, ਕਈ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਪਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਉਹ ਆਪ) ਜਗਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ| ॥੧੧੩॥
ਢੂਢੇਦੀਏ ਸੁਹਾਗ ਕੂ ਤਉ ਤਨਿ ਕਾਈ ਕੋਰ ॥
dhoodhaydee-ay suhaag koo ta-o tan kaa-ee kor.
O’ mortal in search of God, if you have not realized Him in spite of remembering Him, then there is some deficiency in you.
ਹੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਣ ਵਾਲੀਏ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਪਤੀ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈਂ ਪਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਜੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ) ਤੇਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਕਸਰ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਨਾਉ ਸੁਹਾਗਣੀ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਝਾਕ ਨ ਹੋਰ ॥੧੧੪॥
jinHaa naa-o suhaaganee tinHaa jhaak na hor. ||114||
Those who are known as true devotees, do not look elsewhere but God. ||114||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਸੋਹਾਗਣਾਂ’ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਿਵਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਟੇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ| ॥੧੧੪॥
ਸਬਰ ਮੰਝ ਕਮਾਣ ਏ ਸਬਰੁ ਕਾ ਨੀਹਣੋ ॥
sabar manjh kamaan ay sabar kaa neehno.
If mind is like a bow of patience and its string is also of patience,
ਜੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਸਬਰ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਨ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜੇ ਸਬਰ ਹੀ ਕਮਾਣ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ,
ਸਬਰ ਸੰਦਾ ਬਾਣੁ ਖਾਲਕੁ ਖਤਾ ਨ ਕਰੀ ॥੧੧੫॥
sabar sandaa baan khaalak khataa na karee. ||115||
and aims with the arrow of patience, then the Creator doesn’t let him miss the target (God does not let one’s meditation go to waste). ||115||
ਸਬਰ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੀਰ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ) ਖੁੰਝਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ॥੧੧੫॥ `
ਸਬਰ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਬਰੀ ਤਨੁ ਏਵੈ ਜਾਲੇਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥
sabar andar saabree tan ayvai jaalayniH.
The patient devotees of God always remember Him with patience, and this way patiently bear the rigors of remembering Him,
ਸਬਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਬਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਸਦਾ ਸਬਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਘਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹੋਨਿ ਨਜੀਕਿ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਦੈ ਭੇਤੁ ਨ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੇਨਿ ॥੧੧੬॥
hon najeek khudaa-ay dai bhayt na kisai dayn. ||116||
they keep getting closer to God, but don’t reveal this secret to anybody. ||116||
ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦੇ ॥੧੧੬॥
ਸਬਰੁ ਏਹੁ ਸੁਆਉ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਬੰਦਾ ਦਿੜੁ ਕਰਹਿ ॥
sabar ayhu su-aa-o jay tooN bandaa dirh karahi.
O’ mortal, patience is the purpose of life, if you could implant it in your mind,
ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ! ਇਹ ਸਬਰ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਤੂੰ (ਸਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਲਏਂ,
ਵਧਿ ਥੀਵਹਿ ਦਰੀਆਉ ਟੁਟਿ ਨ ਥੀਵਹਿ ਵਾਹੜਾ ॥੧੧੭॥
vaDh theeveh daree-aa-o tut na theeveh vaahrhaa. ||117||
then you would prosper like a wide river, and wouldn’t shrink to a tiny stream (patience would make you kind and love everyone in the world). ||117||
ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਵਧ ਕੇ ਦਰੀਆ ਹੋ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ, (ਪਰ) ਘਟ ਕੇ ਨਿੱਕਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਵਹਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣੇਂਗਾ ,(ਭਾਵ, ਸਬਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਣਾਇਆਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਵਧ ਕੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ| ॥੧੧੭॥
ਫਰੀਦਾ ਦਰਵੇਸੀ ਗਾਖੜੀ ਚੋਪੜੀ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥
fareedaa darvaysee gaakh-rhee choprhee pareet.
O’ Farid, love of God apparently looks as attractive as buttered bread, but the life of a saintly devotee of God is very difficult.
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੇਖਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਾ ਚੰਗੀ ਲਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਬਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੀਵਨ (ਅਸਲ ਫ਼ਕੀਰੀ) ਔਖੀ ਕਾਰ ਹੈ,
ਇਕਨਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਚਾਲੀਐ ਦਰਵੇਸਾਵੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧੧੮॥
ikan kinai chaalee-ai darvaysaavee reet. ||118||
Only a rare few people are able to follow the lifestyle of saints. ||118||
ਫ਼ਕੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ (ਇਹ ਸਬਰ ਵਾਲੀ) ਕਾਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੇ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੈ ॥੧੧੮॥
ਤਨੁ ਤਪੈ ਤਨੂਰ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਲਣੁ ਹਡ ਬਲੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥
tan tapai tanoor ji-o baalan had balaNniH.
My body may be heated up like an oven, my bones may burn like firewood,
ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ) ਤੰਦੂਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਤਪੇ, ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਡ (ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਇਉਂ) ਬਲਣ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਾਲਣ (ਬਲਦਾ) ਹੈ
ਪੈਰੀ ਥਕਾਂ ਸਿਰਿ ਜੁਲਾਂ ਜੇ ਮੂੰ ਪਿਰੀ ਮਿਲੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥੧੧੯॥
pairee thakaaN sir julaaN jay mooN piree milaNniH. ||119||
and if my feet become so tired that I may have to walk on my head, I am ready to accept any such miseries to realize my beloved God. ||119||
(ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਜੇ ਮੈਂ) ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਤੁਰਦਾ ਤੁਰਦਾ) ਥੱਕ ਜਾਵਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰ ਭਾਰ ਤੁਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਵਾਂ। (ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਔਖ ਸਹਾਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ) ਜੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰੱਬ ਜੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਣ| ॥੧੧੯॥
ਤਨੁ ਨ ਤਪਾਇ ਤਨੂਰ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਲਣੁ ਹਡ ਨ ਬਾਲਿ ॥
tan na tapaa-ay tanoor ji-o baalan had na baal.
You do not need to heat up your body like an oven, and burn your bones like firewood.
ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ (ਧੂਣੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ) ਤੰਦੂਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਨਾਹ ਸਾੜ; ਤੇ ਹੱਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਨਾਹ ਬਾਲ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇਹ ਬਾਲਣ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਰਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਕਿਆ ਫੇੜਿਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਿਰੀ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥੧੨੦॥
sir pairee ki-aa fayrhi-aa andar piree nihaal. ||120||
Your head and feet have not done any wrong, so do not put them through such agony; instead visualize the beloved God within yourself. ||120||
ਸਿਰ ਨੇ ਤੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਗਾੜਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖੀ ਨਾਹ ਕਰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੇਖ ॥੧੨੦॥
ਹਉ ਢੂਢੇਦੀ ਸਜਣਾ ਸਜਣੁ ਮੈਡੇ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
ha-o dhoodhaydee sajnaa sajan maiday naal.
I have been going around looking for my beloved God, but He is already dwelling within me.
ਮੈਂ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਭਾਲ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਇ ਦਿਖਾਲਿ ॥੧੨੧॥
naanak alakh na lakhee-ai gurmukh day-ay dikhaal. ||121||
O’ Nanak! God is imperceptible and we cannot recognize Him on our own; the Guru makes us visualize Him through his teachings. ||121||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਲੱਛਣ ਨਹੀਂ, ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨੧॥
ਹੰਸਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਤਰੰਦਿਆ ਬਗਾ ਆਇਆ ਚਾਉ ॥
hansaa daykh tarandi-aa bagaa aa-i-aa chaa-o.
Watching the swan ( virtuous people) swim across the worldly ocean of vices, the crane (sinners) also developed desire to do it,
ਹੰਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬਗਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਚਾਉ ਆ ਗਿਆ,
ਡੁਬਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਗ ਬਪੁੜੇ ਸਿਰੁ ਤਲਿ ਉਪਰਿ ਪਾਉ ॥੧੨੨॥
dub mu-ay bag bapurhay sir tal upar paa-o. ||122||
but crane (poor sinners) drowned with their heads down and feet up (they drowned with the weight of their sins). ||122||
ਪਰ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਬਗਲੇ (ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦੇ) ਸਿਰ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਤੇ ਪੈਰ ਉੱਪਰ (ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਡੁੱਬ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਗਏ ॥੧੨੨॥
ਮੈ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਵਡ ਹੰਸੁ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਮੈ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
mai jaani-aa vad hans hai taaN mai keetaa sang.
I thought that he was some great swan (virtuous person), and that is why I joined his company.
ਮੈਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੰਸ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਜੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਬਗੁ ਬਪੁੜਾ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਭੇੜੀ ਅੰਗੁ ॥੧੨੩॥
jay jaanaa bag bapurhaa janam na bhayrhee ang. ||123||
Had I known that he was a crane (wretched sinner), I would have never gone close to him all my life. ||123||
ਪਰ ਜੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਨਕਾਰਾ ਬਗਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਕਦੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਾਹ ਢੁਕਦੀ ॥੧੨੩॥
ਕਿਆ ਹੰਸੁ ਕਿਆ ਬਗੁਲਾ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਧਰੇ ॥
ki-aa hans ki-aa bagulaa jaa ka-o nadar Dharay.
It matters little if one is like a swan (virtuous) or a crane (sinner), because upon whom God bestows His gracious glance, He accepts him as His own.
ਭਾਵੇਂ ਹੋਵੇ ਹੰਸ ਤੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਬਗਲਾ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰੇ(ਉ ਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ)
ਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਕਾਗਹੁ ਹੰਸੁ ਕਰੇ ॥੧੨੪॥
jay tis bhaavai naankaa kaagahu hans karay. ||124||
O’ Nanak, if it pleases God, then He changes even a crow (great sinner) into a swan (virtuous person). ||124||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ (ਬਗਲਾ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਤੇ ਰਿਹਾ, ਉਹ) ਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ (ਭੀ) ਹੰਸ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਬੜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ) ॥੧੨੪
ਸਰਵਰ ਪੰਖੀ ਹੇਕੜੋ ਫਾਹੀਵਾਲ ਪਚਾਸ ॥
sarvar pankhee haykrho faaheevaal pachaas.
Human being is like a lonely bird in this lake like world, whereas there are fifty (many) evil desires to trap him.
(ਜਗਤ-ਰੂਪ) ਤਲਾਬ ਦਾ (ਇਹ ਜੀਵ-ਰੂਪ) ਪੰਛੀ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਫਸਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜਾਹ ਹਨ।
ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਲਹਰੀ ਗਡੁ ਥਿਆ ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ॥੧੨੫॥
ih tan lahree gad thi-aa sachay tayree aas. ||125||
O’ God, this body of mine is caught in these waves of sinful worldly desires, and You are my only hope to help me escape these. ||125||
(ਮੇਰਾ) ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਰੂਪ ਤਲਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਰੂਪ) ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਸੱਚੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ)! (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ) ਇਕ ਤੇਰੀ (ਸਹੈਤਾ ਦੀ ਹੀ) ਆਸ ਹੈ॥੧੨੫॥
ਕਵਣੁ ਸੁ ਅਖਰੁ ਕਵਣੁ ਗੁਣੁ ਕਵਣੁ ਸੁ ਮਣੀਆ ਮੰਤੁ ॥
kavan so akhar kavan gun kavan so manee-aa mant.
(O’ sister,) tell me what words to utter, what merits to acquire, which is that supreme mantra (the Guru’s word) which may I recite,
(ਹੇ ਭੈਣ!) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਸ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਕੇਹੜਾ ਅੱਖਰ ਬੋਲਾਂ? ਉਹ ਕੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂ ? ਉਹ ਕੇਹੜਾ ਸ਼ਿਰੋਮਣੀ ਮੰਤਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਕਰਾਂ,
ਕਵਣੁ ਸੁ ਵੇਸੋ ਹਉ ਕਰੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਵਸਿ ਆਵੈ ਕੰਤੁ ॥੧੨੬॥
kavan so vayso ha-o karee jit vas aavai kant. ||126||
and what kind of dress must I wear to captivate the Master-God. ||126||
ਉਹ ਕੇਹੜਾ ਵੇਸ ਮੈਂ ਕਰਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਖਸਮ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਏ? ॥੧੨੬॥
ਨਿਵਣੁ ਸੁ ਅਖਰੁ ਖਵਣੁ ਗੁਣੁ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਮਣੀਆ ਮੰਤੁ ॥
nivan so akhar khavan gun jihbaa manee-aa mant.
O’ sister, utter every word with humility, acquire the merit of forgiveness and use sweet words as the supreme mantra (the Guru’s word) .
ਹੇ ਭੈਣ! ਨਿਊਣਾ ਅੱਖਰ ਬੋਲ, ਸਹਾਰਨਾ ਗੁਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ, ਮਿੱਠਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਸ਼ਿਰੋਮਣੀ ਮੰਤਰ ਹੈ।
ਏ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਭੈਣੇ ਵੇਸ ਕਰਿ ਤਾਂ ਵਸਿ ਆਵੀ ਕੰਤੁ ॥੧੨੭॥
ay tarai bhainay vays kar taaN vas aavee kant. ||127||
If you dress up yourself in the robe of these three robes of virtue then you will be able to captivate your Master-God. ||127||
ਜੇ ਇਹ ਤਿੰਨ ਵੇਸ ਕਰ ਲਏਂ ਤਾਂ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਖਸਮ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਇਗਾ ॥੧੨੭॥
ਮਤਿ ਹੋਦੀ ਹੋਇ ਇਆਣਾ ॥
mat hodee ho-ay i-aanaa.
If one be simple, even when wise,
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਅਕਲ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਅੰਞਾਣਾ ਬਣੇ,
ਤਾਣ ਹੋਦੇ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਤਾਣਾ ॥
taan hoday ho-ay nitaanaa.
lives like humble person in spite of being powerful,
ਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਜੀਵੇ,
ਅਣਹੋਦੇ ਆਪੁ ਵੰਡਾਏ ॥
anhoday aap vandaa-ay.
shares with others when he has nothing to share (meaning gives his own share to others),
ਜਦੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਦੇਣ-ਜੋਗਾ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਦੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਪਣਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ) ਵੰਡ ਦੇਵੇ,
ਕੋ ਐਸਾ ਭਗਤੁ ਸਦਾਏ ॥੧੨੮॥
ko aisaa bhagat sadaa-ay. ||128||
such a person should be called a true devotee. ||128||
ਕਿਸੇ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਭਗਤ ਆਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨੮॥
ਇਕੁ ਫਿਕਾ ਨ ਗਾਲਾਇ ਸਭਨਾ ਮੈ ਸਚਾ ਧਣੀ ॥
ik fikaa na gaalaa-ay sabhnaa mai sachaa Dhanee.
Do not utter a single harsh word, because the eternal Master-God resides in all.
ਇੱਕ ਭੀ ਫਿੱਕਾ ਬਚਨ ਨਾਹ ਬੋਲ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਮਾਲਕ (ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ)।
ਹਿਆਉ ਨ ਕੈਹੀ ਠਾਹਿ ਮਾਣਕ ਸਭ ਅਮੋਲਵੇ ॥੧੨੯॥
hi-aa-o na kaihee thaahi maanak sabh amolvay. ||129||
Don’t hurt anyone’s feelings because all humans are like priceless jewels. ||129||
ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਹ ਦੁਖਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ (ਜੀਵ) ਅਮੋਲਕ ਮੋਤੀ ਹਨ ॥੧੨੯॥
ਸਭਨਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਣਿਕ ਠਾਹਣੁ ਮੂਲਿ ਮਚਾਂਗਵਾ ॥
sabhnaa man maanik thaahan mool machaaNgvaa.
Everyone’s heart is precious like a jewel, so it is not good to hurt anyone’s feelings.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਮੋਤੀ ਹਨ, (ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ) ਦੁਖਾਣਾ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਜੇ ਤਉ ਪਿਰੀਆ ਦੀ ਸਿਕ ਹਿਆਉ ਨ ਠਾਹੇ ਕਹੀ ਦਾ ॥੧੩੦॥
jay ta-o piree-aa dee sik hi-aa-o na thaahay kahee daa. ||130||
If you crave to realize the beloved God, then don’t break anyone’s heart. ||130||
ਜੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਹ ਢਾਹ ॥੧੩੦॥
