ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬਸੰਤ ਬਾਸੁਦੇਵਹ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਹ ॥
ghat ghat basant baasudayveh paarbarahm parmaysureh.
The supreme God dwells in each and every heart.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾਚੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੰ ਨਹ ਬਿਸਰੰਤਿ ਨਹ ਬਿਸਰੰਤਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣਹ ॥੨੧॥
jaachant naanak kirpaal parsaadaN nah bisrant nah bisrant naaraa-ineh. ||21||
Nanak begs this gift of grace from the merciful God that he may never forget Him. ||21||
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਵਿੱਸਰੇ, ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਵਿੱਸਰੇ ॥੨੧॥
ਨਹ ਸਮਰਥੰ ਨਹ ਸੇਵਕੰ ਨਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖੋਤਮੰ ॥
nah samrathaN nah sayvkaN nah pareet param parkhotamaN.
O’ the most sublime God, I have neither the ability, nor the urge to serve You, and nor I have true love for You.
ਹੇ ਪਰਮ ਉੱਤਮ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ! ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਹੈ।
ਤਵ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਿਮਰਤੇ ਨਾਮੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰੰ ॥੨੨॥
tav parsaad simartay naamaN naanak kirpaal har har guraN. ||22||
O’ Nanak, say; O’ the most merciful Divine-Guru! I can lovingly remember Your Name only by Your grace. ||22||
ਹੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰੀ! (ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ) ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੨॥
ਭਰਣ ਪੋਖਣ ਕਰੰਤ ਜੀਆ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਛਾਦਨ ਦੇਵੰਤ ਦਾਨੰ ॥
bharan pokhan karant jee-aa bisraam chhaadan dayvant daanaN.
God provides food to all His creatures, He also provides them with a restful place and clothes to wear.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ-ਪੋਸ਼ਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੱਪੜਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸ੍ਰਿਜੰਤ ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮ ਚਤੁਰ ਚੇਤਨਹ ॥
sirjaNt ratan janam chatur chaytnah.
God created the precious human life full of cleverness and intelligence.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਤੇ ਚੇਤੰਨ ਹੈ।
ਵਰਤੰਤਿ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਹ ॥
vartant sukh aanand parsaadeh.
Inner peace and bliss prevails in human beings by God’s grace.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਸਦਕਾ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਿਮਰੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥
simrant naanak har har haray.
O’ Nanak, those who always remember God with adoration,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਅਨਿਤੵ ਰਚਨਾ ਨਿਰਮੋਹ ਤੇ ॥੨੩॥
anit-y rachnaa nirmoh tay. ||23||
remain detached from the perishable creation. ||23||
ਉਸ ਇਸ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਰਚਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਮੋਹ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੩॥
ਦਾਨੰ ਪਰਾ ਪੂਰਬੇਣ ਭੁੰਚੰਤੇ ਮਹੀਪਤੇ ॥
daanaN paraa poorbayn bhuNchantay maheepatay.
As a reward for the acts of charity in their past births, people enjoy the pleasures of being kings in this life.
ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤੇ ਪੁੰਨ-ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਰਾਜੇ (ਇਥੇ ਰਾਜ-ਮਿਲਖ ਦੀ) ਮਾਲਕੀ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਬਿਪਰੀਤ ਬੁਧੵੰ ਮਾਰਤ ਲੋਕਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਿਰੰਕਾਲ ਦੁਖ ਭੋਗਤੇ ॥੨੪॥
bipreet buDh-yaN maarat lokah naanak chirankaal dukh bhogtay. ||24||
O’ Nanak, people with corrupt intellect endure misery for a very long period in this perishable world. ||24||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਉਲਟੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਚਿਰਕਾਲ ਤਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੋਗਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੪॥
ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ਜਸੵ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਰਿਦੰਤਰਹ ॥
baritha anugrahaN gobindah jas-y simran ridantrah.
One who always remembers God in his heart, deems even pain as God’s grace.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਰੋਗੵੰ ਮਹਾ ਰੋਗੵੰ ਬਿਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੇ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮਯਹ ॥੨੫॥
aarog-yaN mahaa rog-yaN bisimritay karunaa ma-yeh. ||25||
One who forsakes the merciful God, even though apparently healthy is afflicted with a terrible disease of egotism. ||25||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਠੁੱਖ ਦਇਆ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਰੋਇਆ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਰੋਗੀ ਹੈ l
ਰਮਣੰ ਕੇਵਲੰ ਕੀਰਤਨੰ ਸੁਧਰਮੰ ਦੇਹ ਧਾਰਣਹ ॥
ramnaN kayvlaN keeratanaN suDharmaN dayh Dhaarnah.
The most righteous deed of having the human body is to lovingly remember God and sing the divine word of His praises.
ਕੇਵਲ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਧਰਮ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੀਵਤੰ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪੵਤੇ ॥੨੬॥
amrit naam naaraa-in naanak peevtaN sant na tariptayatay. ||26||
O’ Nanak, the saints never get satiated drinking the ambrosial nectar of God’s Name, (they always want more and more). ||26||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦਿਆਂ ਰੱਜਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੨੬॥
ਸਹਣ ਸੀਲ ਸੰਤੰ ਸਮ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਸੵ ਦੁਰਜਨਹ ॥
sahan seel santaN sam mitarsa-y durajneh.
The Saints are tolerant and good-natured, both friends and enemies are the same to them:
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਰਜਨ ਇੱਕ-ਸਮਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਧੀਕੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰਨਾ-ਇਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਭੋਜਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੇਣ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਆਵਧ ਹੋਇ ਉਪਤਿਸਟਤੇ ॥੨੭॥
naanak bhojan anik parkaarayn nindak aavaDh ho-ay uptistatay. ||27||
O’ Nanak, whether someone comes to them with all sorts of food, or a slanderer draws weapons (to harm them, it is all the same to them). ||27||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਣ, ਜਾਂ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਚੁਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਣ ॥੨੭॥
ਤਿਰਸਕਾਰ ਨਹ ਭਵੰਤਿ ਨਹ ਭਵੰਤਿ ਮਾਨ ਭੰਗਨਹ ॥
tiraskaar nah bhavant nah bhavant maan bhangnah.
Those people are neither affected by insult nor by disrespect,
ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ) ਦੀ ਕਦੇ ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਦੇ ਅਪਮਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਸੋਭਾ ਹੀਨ ਨਹ ਭਵੰਤਿ ਨਹ ਪੋਹੰਤਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੁਖਨਹ ॥
sobhaa heen nah bhavant nah pohant sansaar dukhnah.
they never lose their honor, nor the worldly sorrows affect them,
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਟਦੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ,
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੰਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸੁਖ ਬਾਸਨਹ ॥੨੮॥
gobind naam japant mil saaDh sangah naanak say paraanee sukh baasnah. ||28||
they join the company of saints and lovingly remember God: O’ Nanak, these people always abide in peace. ||28||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਸੁਖੀ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੮॥
ਸੈਨਾ ਸਾਧ ਸਮੂਹ ਸੂਰ ਅਜਿਤੰ ਸੰਨਾਹੰ ਤਨਿ ਨਿੰਮ੍ਰਤਾਹ ॥
sainaa saaDh samooh soor ajitaN saNnaahaN tan nimartaah.
The saintly people are an invincible army of spiritual warriors; their bodies are protected by the armor of humility.
ਸੰਤ-ਜਨ ਅਜਿੱਤ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਹੈ। ਗ਼ਰੀਬੀ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਸੰਜੋਅ ਹੈ;
ਆਵਧਹ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਰਮਣੰ ਓਟ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਕਰ ਚਰਮਣਹ ॥
aavDhah gun gobind ramnaN ot gur sabad kar charamneh.
They are armed with the weapons of singing God’s praises, and the Guru’s words are like an impenetrable shield in their hands.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਣੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ; ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਦੀ ਢਾਲ ਹੈ।
ਆਰੂੜਤੇ ਅਸ੍ਵ ਰਥ ਨਾਗਹ ਬੁਝੰਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਾਰਗਹ ॥
aaroorh-tay asav rath naagah bujhantay parabh maargah.
For them to find the path to union with God is like riding the horses, chariots and elephants.
ਸੰਤ-ਜਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਭਾਲਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ-ਇਹ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਉਹ ਘੋੜੇ ਰਥ ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਬਿਚਰਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਯੰ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਸੈਨਾ ਧਾਯੰਤੇ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥
bichartay nirabh-yaN satar sainaa Dhaa-yantay gopaal keeratneh.
They walk fearlessly through the armies of their enemies of vices and attack them with the singing of divine words of God’s Praises.
ਸੰਤ-ਜਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ) ਨਾਲ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਵੈਰੀ-ਦਲ ਉਤੇ ਹੱਲਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਤੁਰੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਤਤੇ ਬਿਸ੍ਵ ਸੰਸਾਰਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਸੵੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਪੰਚ ਤਸਕਰਹ ॥੨੯॥
jittay bisav sansaarah naanak vas-yaN karot panch taskarahi. ||29||
O’ Nanak, they bring under control all the five thieves (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego) which is like conquering the entire world. ||29||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੰਤ-ਜਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਚੋਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੯॥
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਨਗਰੰ ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਛਾਯਾ ਰਚਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿਹ ॥
marig tarisnaa ganDharab nagraN darum chhaa-yaa rach duramtih.
One with evil intellect believes the mirage, the phantom city in the sky and the passing shade of a tree as true.
ਭੈੜੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਠਗਨੀਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਨਗਰੀ (ਖਿਆਲੀ ਨਗਰੀ) ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਛਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਮੰਨ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਤਹ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਮੋਹ ਮਿਥੵਾ ਸਿਮਰੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਹ ॥੩੦॥
tatah kutamb moh mith-yaa simrant naanak raam raam naamah. ||30||
Similarly, the love for the family is illusionary: O’ Nanak, the saints forsake these illusion and lovingly remember God’s Name. ||30||
ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ-ਜਨ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩੦॥
ਨਚ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਿਗਮੰ ਨਚ ਗੁਣਗ ਨਾਮ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥
nach bidi-aa niDhaan nigamaN nach gunga-y naam keeratneh.
Neither I possess the treasure of the wisdom of the Vedas, nor I know about the divine virtues nor I have the merits of singing the Praises of God’s Name.
ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਦ-ਵਿਦਿਆ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਤਾ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੈ।
ਨਚ ਰਾਗ ਰਤਨ ਕੰਠੰ ਨਹ ਚੰਚਲ ਚਤੁਰ ਚਾਤੁਰਹ ॥
nach raag ratan kanthaN nah chanchal chatur chaatureh.
Neither I have the melodious voice suitable for singing God’s praises, nor I am clever or the wisest of the wise.
ਮੇਰੇ ਗਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਰਾਗ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਚੁਸਤ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਭਾਗ ਉਦਿਮ ਲਬਧੵੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਖਲ ਪੰਡਿਤਹ ॥੩੧॥
bhaag udim labDha-yaN maa-i-aa naanak saaDhsang khal panditah. ||31||
I don’t have the worldly wealth which is obtained by preordained destiny and endeavour: But O’ Nanak, in the company of saints, even absolutely ignorant persons become pandits. ||31||
ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉੱਦਮ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ)। (ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਮੂਰਖ (ਭੀ) ਪੰਡਿਤ (ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੧॥
ਕੰਠ ਰਮਣੀਯ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਮਾਲਾ ਹਸਤ ਊਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਧਾਰਣੀ ॥
kanth ramneey raam raam maalaa hasat ooch paraym Dhaarnee.
One who makes utterance of God’s Name as the beautiful rosary around his neck and makes his heart as the bag to hold that rosary of God’s Name,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਗਲੇ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਮਾਲਾ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਟਿਕਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਾ ਦੀ ਥੈਲੀ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜੀਹ ਭਣਿ ਜੋ ਉਤਮ ਸਲੋਕ ਉਧਰਣੰ ਨੈਨ ਨੰਦਨੀ ॥੩੨॥
jeeh bhan jo utam salok uDharnaN nain nandnee. ||32||
and with tongue utters sublime words of God’s praise, he is emancipated from the effects of Maya, which is so pleasing the eyes. ||32||
ਅਤੇ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੨॥
ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਹੀਣਸੵ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੰਤ ਜਨਮ ਭ੍ਰਸਟਣਹ ॥
gur mantar heensa-y jo paraanee Dharigant janam bharsatnah.
Accursed is the polluted life of a person who is without the mantra (teachings) of the Guru.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੀਵਨ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਯੋਗ ਹੈ।
ਕੂਕਰਹ ਸੂਕਰਹ ਗਰਧਭਹ ਕਾਕਹ ਸਰਪਨਹ ਤੁਲਿ ਖਲਹ ॥੩੩॥
kookrah sookrah garaDh-bheh kaakah sarapneh tul khalah. ||33||
Such a fool is just like a dog, pig, donkey, crow, and a snake. ||33||
ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਸੂਰ ਖੋਤੇ ਕਾਂ ਸੱਪ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹੈ। ॥੩੩॥
ਚਰਣਾਰਬਿੰਦ ਭਜਨੰ ਰਿਦਯੰ ਨਾਮ ਧਾਰਣਹ ॥
charnaarbind bhajanaN rid-yaN naam Dhaarnah.
One who enshrines God’s Name in his heart and remembers His immaculate Name,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ-ਕਮਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
