ਰਾਜੰ ਤ ਮਾਨੰ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੰ ਤ ਹੀਨੰ ॥
raajaN ta maanaN abhimaanaN ta heenaN.
Where there is power, there is arrogance, where there is egotistical pride, there is humiliation.
ਜਿਥੇ ਰਾਜ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਭੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਭੀ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਵਿਰਤਿ ਮਾਰਗੰ ਵਰਤੰਤਿ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੰ ॥
parvirat maargaN vartant binaasanaN.
The way of involvement in worldly affairs, that is pervading in the world, is all destructive.
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਪਰਵਿਰਤੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਰਗ ਜੋ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਨਾਸ਼ਵੰਤ ਹੈ l
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਜਨ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੇਣ ਅਸਥਿਰੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਭਜਨਾਸਨੰ ॥੧੨॥
gobind bhajan saaDh sangayn asthiraN naanak bhagvant bhajnaasnaN. ||12||
The remembrance of God in the company of saints is everlasting: O’ Nanak, remembrance of God is the support of life. ||12||
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
ਕਿਰਪੰਤ ਹਰੀਅੰ ਮਤਿ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੰ ॥
kirpant haree-aN mat tat gi-aanaN.
When God bestows mercy, then true wisdom about righteous life wells up in one’s mind,
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਗਸੀਧੵਿ ਬੁਧਾ ਕੁਸਲ ਥਾਨੰ ॥
bigseeDhiy buDhaa kusal thaanaN.
his intellect blossoms and he attains a state of spiritual bliss.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਖਿੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਸੵਿੰਤ ਰਿਖਿਅੰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਮਾਨੰ ॥
bas-yant rikhi-aN ti-aag maanaN.
He abandons self-conceit and his sense organs come under control.
ਮਾਣ ਤਿਆਗਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੀਤਲੰਤ ਰਿਦਯੰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਸੰਤ ਗਿਆਨੰ ॥
seetlant rid-yaN darirh sant gi-aanaN.
His heart becomes cool and calm when the wisdom imparted by the Guru becomes firm within him.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸੀਤਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਰਹੰਤ ਜਨਮੰ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸ ਲੀਣਾ ॥
rahant janmaN har daras leenaa.
He remains absorbed in experiencing the blessed vision of God and thus his cycle of birth and death ends.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਮਾ ਜਾਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸਦਾ ਜਨਮ -ਮਰਨ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਬਾਜੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦ ਬੀਣਾਂ ॥੧੩॥
baajant naanak sabad beenaaN. ||13||
O’ Nanak, he feels as if a musical instrument producing divine word of God’s praises is always playing within him. ||13||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਵਾਜੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਵੱਜਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੩॥
ਕਹੰਤ ਬੇਦਾ ਗੁਣੰਤ ਗੁਨੀਆ ਸੁਣੰਤ ਬਾਲਾ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
kahant baydaa gunant gunee-aa sunant baalaa baho biDh parkaaraa.
The scholars reflect in many ways on what the Vedas (holy books) preach, and their students listen to them.
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੇਦ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਈ ਢੰਗਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਦ੍ਰਿੜੰਤ ਸੁਬਿਦਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
darirh-aaNt subidi-aa har har kirpaalaa.
But those on whom is the grace of God, they firmly enshrine in their heart only the sublime teachings about remembering God.
ਪਰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਹ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ) ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਜਾਚੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੈਨਹਾਰ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥੧੪॥
naam daan jaachant naanak dainhaar gur gopaalaa. ||14||
O’ Nanak, they ask for the gift of Naam from the benefactor divine-Guru. ||14||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ (ਸਦਾ) ਨਾਮਿ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੪॥
ਨਹ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਹ ਨਹ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਛੁ ਲੋਕ ਕਹ ॥
nah chintaa maat pit bharaatah nah chintaa kachh lok kah.
Do not worry about sustenance of your mother, father and siblings, also do not worry a bit about what other people say.
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਭਰਾ ਦਾ ਫਿਕਰ ਨਾਂ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਭੋਰਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਭੀ ਫਿਕਰ ਨਾਂ ਕਰ।
ਨਹ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਮੀਤਹ ਪ੍ਰਵਿਰਤਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਨਬੰਧਨਹ ॥
nah chintaa banitaa sut meetah parvirat maa-i-aa sanbhanDhnah.
Also do not worry about your spouse, children and friends, they are related to us as a result of our worldly involvements.
ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮਿੱਤਰ- ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਵਿਰਤ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ (ਸਾਡੇ) ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਹਨ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਾਂ ਕਰ
ਦਇਆਲ ਏਕ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਪੁਰਖਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕਹ ॥੧੫॥
da-i-aal ayk bhagvaan pukhah naanak sarab jee-a partipaalkeh. ||15||
O’ Nanak, the merciful God is the only One who provides sustenance to all the living beings. ||15||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਇਕ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥
ਅਨਿਤੵ ਵਿਤੰ ਅਨਿਤੵ ਚਿਤੰ ਅਨਿਤੵ ਆਸਾ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੰ ॥
anit-y vitaN anit-y chitaN anit-y aasaa baho biDh parkaaraN.
The worldly wealth is not everlasting, therefore it is futile to think about it; also useless are the hopes and desires of many kinds.
ਧਨ ਨਿੱਤ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਧਨ ਦੀਆਂ) ਸੋਚਾਂ ਵਿਅਰਥ (ਉੱਦਮ) ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਧਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ (ਬਣਾਣੀਆਂ ਭੀ) ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਿਤੵ ਹੇਤੰ ਅਹੰ ਬੰਧੰ ਭਰਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਲਨੰ ਬਿਕਾਰੰ ॥
anit-y haytaN ahaN banDhaN bharam maa-i-aa malanaN bikaaraN.
Due to the love for perishable things, one remains caught in self conceit; he wanders for the sake of Maya and commits sinful filthy deeds.
ਨਿੱਤ ਨਾਹ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਬੱਧਾ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਮੈਲੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਫਿਰੰਤ ਜੋਨਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਜਠਰਾਗਨਿ ਨਹ ਸਿਮਰੰਤ ਮਲੀਣ ਬੁਧੵੰ ॥
firant jon anayk jhathraagan nah simrant maleen buDh-yaN.
A person with evil intellect does not remember God and passes through the fire of the womb of reincarnation countless times.
ਮੈਲੀ ਮੱਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੇਟ ਦੀਆਂ ਘਣੇਰੀਆਂ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਰਤ ਮਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਮਹ ॥੧੬॥
hay gobind karat ma-i-aa naanak patit uDhaaran saaDh sangmah. ||16||
O’ Nanak, say: O’ God, on whom You bestow mercy, You bless that person with the company of saints where even the worst sinners are emancipated. ||16||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ, ਆਖ ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ!, ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਜਿਥੇ ਵਡੇ ਪਾਪੀ ਵੀ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੬॥
ਗਿਰੰਤ ਗਿਰਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਤਾਲੰ ਜਲੰਤ ਦੇਦੀਪੵ ਬੈਸ੍ਵਾਂਤਰਹ ॥
girant gir patit paataalaN jalant daydeep-y baisvaaNtareh.
(Difficult endeavors like) falling from a mountain into the deepest of hell, or be burnt in the blazing fire,
ਪਹਾੜ ਤੋਂ ਡਿੱਗ ਕੇ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪੈਣਾ, ਭੜਕਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਨਾ,
ਬਹੰਤਿ ਅਗਾਹ ਤੋਯੰ ਤਰੰਗੰ ਦੁਖੰਤ ਗ੍ਰਹ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਜਨਮੰ ਤ ਮਰਣਹ ॥
bahant agaah to-yaN tarangaN dukhant garah chintaa janmaN ta marnah.
or being swept away by the unfathomable waves of water; the pain of household worry (the love for Maya) which is cause of cycles of birth and death is worse than these endeavors.
ਡੂੰਘੇ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਠਿੱਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਣਾ- ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਦੁਖ ਹੇ ਘਰੋਗੀ-ਫਿਕਰ ਦਾ,ਜੋ ਜੰਮਣ ਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਿਕ ਸਾਧਨੰ ਨ ਸਿਧੵਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਸਥੰਭੰ ਅਸਥੰਭੰ ਅਸਥੰਭੰ ਸਬਦ ਸਾਧ ਸ੍ਵਜਨਹ ॥੧੭॥
anik saaDhanaN na siDh-yatai naanak asthambhaN asthambhaN asthambhaN sabad saaDh savajniH. ||17||
None of the innumerable ways succeed to escape from this pain of the love for Maya: O’ Nanak, the noble Guru’s divine word is the real support. ||17||
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸਾਧਨ ਇਸ ਦੁਖ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਸਫਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੭॥
ਘੋਰ ਦੁਖੵੰ ਅਨਿਕ ਹਤੵੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਾਰਿਦ੍ਰੰ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੵਾਦੰ ॥
ghor dukh-yaN anik hat-yaN janam daaridaraN mahaa bikh-yaadN.
The most dreadful sorrows, sins of countless murders, the destitution of many births, and the worst of distress:
ਭਿਆਨਕ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕੇਲਸ਼, (ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਖ਼ੂਨ, ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗ਼ਰੀਬੀ, ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਪੁਆੜੇ-ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ,
ਮਿਟੰਤ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਮਰੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੈਸੇ ਪਾਵਕ ਕਾਸਟ ਭਸਮੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ ॥੧੮॥
mitant sagal simrant har naam naanak jaisay paavak kasat bhasmaN karot. ||18||
O’ Nanak, all these sorrows vanish by lovingly remembering God’s Name, just as fire reduces piles of wood to ashes. ||18||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੱਗ ਲੱਕੜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਹ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੮॥
ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੰ ਗੁਣ ਰਮੰਤ ਅਘ ਖੰਡਨਹ ॥
anDhkaar simrat parkaasaN gun ramant agh khandnah.
The darkness of ignorance vanishes, the mind is spiritually enlightened by lovingly remembering God and sins are destroyed by singing His praises.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ (ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ) ਹਨੇਰਾ (ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ) (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਿਦ ਬਸੰਤਿ ਭੈ ਭੀਤ ਦੂਤਹ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਤ ਮਹਾ ਨਿਰਮਲਹ ॥
rid basant bhai bheet dootah karam karat mahaa niramleh.
By enshrining God within the heart, even the demons of death are stricken with terror and the person does supremely immaculate deeds.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਿਆਂ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਭੀ ਡਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬੜੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਰਹੰਤ ਸ੍ਰੋਤਾ ਸੁਖ ਸਮੂਹ ਅਮੋਘ ਦਰਸਨਹ ॥
janam maran rahant sarotaa sukh samooh amogh darasneh.
One who listens to God’s praises, his cycle of birth and death ends, and seeing the fruitful sight of God, one attains all kinds of comforts and inner peace.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਣਿ ਜੋਗੰ ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਖੇਮੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ ॥੧੯॥
saran jogaN sant pari-a naanak so bhagvaan khaymaN karot. ||19||
O’ Nanak, God is the beloved of His saints and is capable to help those who seek His refuge and He blesses them with inner peace. ||19||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਜੋ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ (ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ) ਸੁਖ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੯॥
ਪਾਛੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਅਗ੍ਰਣੀਵਹ ਨਿਰਾਸੰ ਆਸ ਪੂਰਨਹ ॥
paachhaN karot agarneeveh niraasaN aas poornah.
Those who are left behind in the society, God makes them leaders and fulfills the hope of those who have become totally hopeless.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਗੂ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਿਰਾਸਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਧਨ ਭਯੰ ਧਨਵੰਤਹ ਰੋਗੀਅੰ ਰੋਗ ਖੰਡਨਹ ॥
nirDhan bha-yaN Dhanvantah rogee-aN rog khandnah.
The poor become rich, and the afflictions of the sick people are destroyed.
(ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਕੰਗਾਲ ਧਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਰੋਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤੵੰ ਭਗਤਿ ਦਾਨੰ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਣ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥
bhagat-yaN bhagat daanaN raam naam gun keeratneh.
God blesses His devotees with His devotional worship, His Name and the gift of singing His praises.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾਤਾਰਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਿੰ ਨ ਲਭੵਤੇ ॥੨੦॥
paarbarahm purakh daataareh naanak gur sayvaa kiN na labh-yatai. ||20||
O’ Nanak, the all pervading supreme God is the benefactor; is there anything which cannot be attained by following the Guru’s teachings? ||20||
ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕੀਹ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ? ॥੨੦
ਅਧਰੰ ਧਰੰ ਧਾਰਣਹ ਨਿਰਧਨੰ ਧਨ ਨਾਮ ਨਰਹਰਹ ॥
aDhraN DharaN Dhaarnah nirDhanaN Dhan naam narhareh.
God’s Name is the provider of support to the supportless, and is the wealth of the poor.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਆਸਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਧਨ-ਹੀਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾਥ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ਬਲਹੀਣ ਬਲ ਕੇਸਵਹ ॥
anaath naath gobindah balheen bal kaysvah.
God of the universe is the Master of the masterless and the beauteous God is the power of the powerless.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਅਨਾਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਥ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕੇਸ਼ਵ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਿਤਾਣਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਤਾਣ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਬ ਭੂਤ ਦਯਾਲ ਅਚੁਤ ਦੀਨ ਬਾਂਧਵ ਦਾਮੋਦਰਹ ॥
sarab bhoot da-yaal achut deen baaNDhav daamodareh.
The eternal God is merciful to all creatures and is a close friend of the meek.
ਅਬਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਗਾਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੰਧੂ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਬਗੵ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਭਗਵਾਨਹ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮਯਹ ॥
sarabga-y pooran purakh bhagvaaneh bhagat vachhal karunaa ma-yeh.
The all pervading, perfect and omniscient God is the lover of His devotees and is the embodiment of mercy.
ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਸਭ ਜੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਭਗਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤਰਸ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ।
