ਕੀਰਤਨੰ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੇਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੰਤਿ ਜਮਦੂਤਨਹ ॥੩੪॥
keeratanaN saaDhsangayn naanak nah darisat-aNt jamdootneh. ||34||
and sings praises of God in the company of saints, O’ Nanak! even the demon of death cannot look upon such a person with an evil eye. ||34||
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਲ ਤੱਕ (ਭੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੩੪॥
ਨਚ ਦੁਰਲਭੰ ਧਨੰ ਰੂਪੰ ਨਚ ਦੁਰਲਭੰ ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਰਾਜਨਹ ॥
nach durlabhaN danaN roopaN nach durlabhaN savarag raajnah.
Neither it is very difficult to obtain worldly wealth and beauty, nor it is so difficult to have control over the heavenly comforts.
ਧਨ ਅਤੇ ਰੂਪ ਲੱਭਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਸੁਰਗ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ।
ਨਚ ਦੁਰਲਭੰ ਭੋਜਨੰ ਬਿੰਜਨੰ ਨਚ ਦੁਰਲਭੰ ਸ੍ਵਛ ਅੰਬਰਹ ॥
nach durlabhaN bhojanaN biNjanaN nach durlabhaN savachh ambreh.
It is not hard to have delicious food, it is also not difficult to have clean clothes.
ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਮਸਾਲੇਦਾਰ ਖਾਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨੇ ਔਖੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਸਾਫ਼ ਸੁਥਰੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ।
ਨਚ ਦੁਰਲਭੰ ਸੁਤ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਬਾਂਧਵ ਨਚ ਦੁਰਲਭੰ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਬਿਲਾਸਹ ॥
nach durlabhaN sut mitar bharaat baaNDhav nach durlabhaN banitaa bilaaseh.
It is not so difficult to have children, friends, siblings and relatives; it is also not difficult to obtain pleasure with a woman.
ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਭਰਾ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਲਾਡ-ਪਿਆਰ।
ਨਚ ਦੁਰਲਭੰ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਣੰ ਨਚ ਦੁਰਲਭੰ ਚਤੁਰ ਚੰਚਲਹ ॥
nach durlabhaN bidi-aa parbeenaN nach durlabhaN chatur chanchleh.
Neither it is so difficult to become accomplished through education, nor it is difficult to become wise and clever.
ਵਿਦਿਆ ਵਿੱਚਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਹੋਣਾ ਭੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਤੇ ਚਾਲਾਕ ਬਣਨਾ।
ਦੁਰਲਭੰ ਏਕ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਨਾਮਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਬਧੵਿੰ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੰ ॥੩੫॥
durlabhaN ayk bhagvaan naamah naanak labDhi-yaN saaDhsang kirpaa parabhaN. ||35||
O’ Nanak, the one thing which is very difficult to attain is God’s Name, which is received only in the company of saints by God’s grace. ||35||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕੇਵਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਮ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੫॥
ਜਤ ਕਤਹ ਤਤਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੰ ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਮਰਤ ਪਯਾਲ ਲੋਕਹ ॥
jat katah tatah daristaN savarag marat pa-yaal lokah.
Whether it is heaven, this world or the nether region of the world, wherever one looks,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ (ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰਗ, ਮਾਤਲੋਕ, ਪਾਤਾਲ ਲੋਕ-ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਰਮਣੰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਪ ਛੇਪ ਨ ਲਿਪੵਤੇ ॥੩੬॥
sarbatar ramnaN gobindah naanak layp chhayp na lip-yatai. ||36||
one visualizes God who is all pervading Master of the universe: O’ Nanak, that person is not afflicted with any kind of blemishes of vices. ||36||
ਜੋ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਕ ਹੈ; ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਬੰਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੋਚੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿੱਬੜਦਾ ॥੩੬॥
ਬਿਖਯਾ ਭਯੰਤਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੰ ਦ੍ਰੁਸਟਾਂ ਸਖਾ ਸ੍ਵਜਨਹ ॥
bikhyaa bha-yant amritaN darustaaN sakhaa savajniH.
The Poison for that person is transformed into ambrosial nectar and enemies into friends and companions,
ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਦੋਖੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਤੇ ਕਰੀਬੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਦੁਖੰ ਭਯੰਤਿ ਸੁਖੵੰ ਭੈ ਭੀਤੰ ਤ ਨਿਰਭਯਹ ॥
dukhaN bha-yant sukh-yaN bhai bheetaN ta nirabhyeh.
sorrows turn into inner peace, the most fearful person becomes fearless;
ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਸੁਖ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੇ ਉਹ (ਪਹਿਲਾਂ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਡਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਹਿਮਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ:
ਥਾਨ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਹ ॥੩੭॥
thaan bihoon bisraam naamaN naanak kirpaal har har gurah. ||37||
upon whom Guru, the embodiment of God, becomes merciful: O’ Nanak, this person who had no place receives refuge in God’s Name. ||37||
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ-ਦਾ-ਰੂਪ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਹੋ ਪਏ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਹਾਰਾ-ਆਸਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੭॥
ਸਰਬ ਸੀਲ ਮਮੰ ਸੀਲੰ ਸਰਬ ਪਾਵਨ ਮਮ ਪਾਵਨਹ ॥
sarab seel mamaN seelaN sarab paavan mam paavnah.
God who blesses all beings with modesty, makes me modest also; He who purifies all, purifies me as well.
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਹੀ ਨਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜੋ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਭੀ ਉਹੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ-ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ;
ਸਰਬ ਕਰਤਬ ਮਮੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਪ ਛੇਪ ਨ ਲਿਪੵਤੇ ॥੩੮॥
sarab kartab mamaN kartaa naanak layp chhayp na lip-yatai. ||38||
The Creator of all is the Creator of me as well: O Nanak, no blame or stain of any kind sticks to Him. ||38||
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਚਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੋਚੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਬੜਦਾ ॥੩੮॥
ਨਹ ਸੀਤਲੰ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਦੇਵਹ ਨਹ ਸੀਤਲੰ ਬਾਵਨ ਚੰਦਨਹ ॥
nah seetlaN chandar dayvah nah seetlaN baavan chandnah.
The moon-god is not as cool and calm, nor is the white sandal tree;
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ (ਉਤਨਾ) ਠੰਢ ਅਪੜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਚਿੱਟਾ ਚੰਦਨ (ਉਤਨੀ) ਠੰਢ ਅਪੜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਹ ਸੀਤਲੰ ਸੀਤ ਰੁਤੇਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੀਤਲੰ ਸਾਧ ਸ੍ਵਜਨਹ ॥੩੯॥
nah seetlaN seet rutayn naanak seetlaN saaDh savajniH. ||39||
O’ Nanak, nor even the winter season can provide as much cool comfort, as the peace and calmness provided by the noble saints. ||39||
ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਸਰਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਬਹਾਰ (ਉਤਨੀ) ਠੰਢ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਿਤਨੀ) ਠੰਢ-ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩੯॥
ਮੰਤ੍ਰੰ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੰ ਧੵਾਨੰ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਪੂਰਨਹ ॥
mantraN raam raam naamaN Dha-yaana sarbatar poornah.
To recite the mantra of God’s Name and to focus the mind on the all pervading God;
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ) ਜਪਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਨੀ;
ਗੵਾਨੰ ਸਮ ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖੰ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਰਵੈਰਣਹ ॥
ga-yaana sam dukh sukhaN jugat nirmal nirvairneh.
to deem pain and pleasure alike and to live an immaculate life free of enmity;
ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਤੇ ਵੈਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਊਣਾ;
ਦਯਾਲੰ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਆ ਪੰਚ ਦੋਖ ਬਿਵਰਜਿਤਹ ॥
da-yaalaN sarbatar jee-aa panch dokh bivarjiteh.
to have mercy on all beings and remain free from the five vices;
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ-ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਰੱਖਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ;
ਭੋਜਨੰ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਕੀਰਤਨੰ ਅਲਪ ਮਾਯਾ ਜਲ ਕਮਲ ਰਹਤਹ ॥
bhojanaN gopaal keeratanaN alap maa-yaa jal kamal rahtah.
to make the singing of God’s praises as the spiritual food and to remain detached from the love for Maya, like the lotus flower in the water;
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਇਉਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਉਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ,
ਉਪਦੇਸੰ ਸਮ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਤ੍ਰਹ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਵਨੀ ॥
updaysaN sam mitar satreh bhagvant bhagat bhaavnee.
to adopt the teachings of treating the friends and enemies alike and to develop love for the devotional worship of God;
ਸੱਜਣ ਤੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਭਾਵ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਾਣਾ;
"ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਨਹ ਸ੍ਰੋਤਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੰ ਆਪੁ ਤੵਿਾਗਿ ਸਗਲ ਰੇਣੁਕਹ ॥
par nindaa nah sarot sarvanaN aap ti-yaag sagal raynukeh.
not to hear any one’s slander with his ears, renouncing self-conceit and becoming so humble as if one is the dust of the feet of all;
ਪਰਾਈ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਹ ਸੁਣਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਨਾ;
ਖਟ ਲਖੵਣ ਪੂਰਨੰ ਪੁਰਖਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਧ ਸ੍ਵਜਨਹ ॥੪੦॥
khat lakh-yan pooranaN purkhah naanak naam saaDh savajniH. ||40||
O’ Nanak, those who have these (described above) six qualities are the perfect persons and they can be named as the saintly devotees. ||40||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਛੇ ਲੱਛਣ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਾਧ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਖੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪੦॥
ਅਜਾ ਭੋਗੰਤ ਕੰਦ ਮੂਲੰ ਬਸੰਤੇ ਸਮੀਪਿ ਕੇਹਰਹ ॥
ajaa bhogant kand moolaN basantay sameep kayhrah.
The goat living near a lion remains afraid even while enjoying fruits and roots.
ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਬੱਕਰੀ ਗਾਜਰ-ਮੂਲੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਖਾਂਦੀ ਹੋਈ (ਵੀ ਭੈ-ਭੀਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ)।
ਤਤ੍ਰ ਗਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖੰ ਬਿਆਪਤੇ ॥੪੧॥
tatar gatay sansaarah naanak sog harkhaN bi-aapatay. ||41||
O’ Nanak, similar is the state of mind of the worldly people because they remain afflicted with the pleasures and sorrows of life. ||41||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹੀ ਹਾਲ ਹੈ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਤੇ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਪਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪੧॥
ਛਲੰ ਛਿਦ੍ਰੰ ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਘਨੰ ਅਪਰਾਧੰ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਮਲੰ ॥
chhalaN chhidaraN kot bighanaN apraaDhaN kilbikh malaN.
People afflicted with the filth of sins and crimes of committing fraud, finding faults of others, and putting millions of obstructions in the path of others,
(ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਧੋਖਾ (ਦੇਣਾ), (ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ) ਐਬ (ਫਰੋਲਣੇ), (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਰੁਕਾਵਟਾਂ (ਪਾਣੀਆਂ), ਵਿਕਾਰ, ਪਾਪ,
ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹੰ ਮਾਨ ਅਪਮਾਨੰ ਮਦੰ ਮਾਯਾ ਬਿਆਪਿਤੰ ॥
bharam mohaN maan apmaanaN madaN maa-yaa bi-aapitaN.
and also afflicted with the maladies of doubt, emotional attachment, honor, dishonor, and the intoxication of worldly wealth,
ਭਟਕਣਾ, ਮੋਹ, ਆਦਰ, ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ-(ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ) ਮਾਇਆ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਬਾਉ ਹੇਠ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਮ੍ਰਿਤੵੁ ਜਨਮ ਭ੍ਰਮੰਤਿ ਨਰਕਹ ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵੰ ਨ ਸਿਧੵਤੇ ॥
mitar-yo janam bharmant narkah anik upaavaN na siDh-yatai.
they remain wandering in the hell like sufferings in the cycle of birth and death and don’t succeed in ending these sufferings through many efforts of their own.
ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਰਕ ਭੋਗਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਕਲਣ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ।
ਨਿਰਮਲੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਹ ਜਪੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਨਾਮੰ ॥
nirmalaN saaDh sangah japant naanak gopaal naamaN.
O’ Nanak, those who lovingly remember God’s Name in the company of the saints, their life becomes immaculate,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ -ਜੀਵਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਰਮੰਤਿ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਹ ॥੪੨॥
ramant gun gobind nit parteh. ||42||
and they always sing the praises of God. ||42||
ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ॥੪੨॥
ਤਰਣ ਸਰਣ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਮਣ ਸੀਲ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਹ ॥
taran saran su-aamee raman seel parmaysureh.
The refuge of all pervading merciful supreme God is like a boat to cross over the world-ocean of vices.
ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਅਤੇ ਨਰਮ-ਦਿਲ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਲਈ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥਹ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੂਰਨਹ ॥

ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਾਸ ਆਸ ਕਰਣੰ ਸਗਲ ਅਰਥ ਆਲਯਹ ॥
niraas aas karnaN sagal arath aalyeh.
God gives hope to the hopeless and is the Source of all riches (everything).
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਿਰਾਸਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸਿਮਰੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਗਲ ਜਾਚੰਤ ਜਾਚਿਕਹ ॥੪੩॥
gun niDhaan simrant naanak sagal jaachant jaachikeh. ||43||
O’ Nanak, like beggars all creatures beg from God and lovingly remember Him, the treasure of virtues.||43||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਰੇ (ਜੀਵ) ਮੰਗਤੇ (ਬਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪੩॥
ਦੁਰਗਮ ਸਥਾਨ ਸੁਗਮੰ ਮਹਾ ਦੂਖ ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖਣਹ ॥
durgam sathaan sugamaN mahaa dookh sarab sookh-nah.
The places which seem so difficult to reach become very easy, the worst of sorrows turn into pleasure;
ਔਖੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਵਾਲੇ ਥਾਂ ਸੌਖੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਦੁਰਬਚਨ ਭੇਦ ਭਰਮੰ ਸਾਕਤ ਪਿਸਨੰ ਤ ਸੁਰਜਨਹ ॥
durbachan bhayd bharamaN saakat pisanaN ta surajneh.
Those faithless cynics who always utter evil words and create differences between others become good-natured friends;
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਰਸਤੇ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਖਰ੍ਹਵੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ) ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਚੁਗ਼ਲ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੇਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਸਥਿਤੰ ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖੰ ਭੈ ਖੀਣੰ ਤ ਨਿਰਭਵਹ ॥
asthitaN sog harkhaN bhai kheenaN ta nirabhveh.
the pleasure is established in place of sorrow and those who have become timid because of fear, become fear-free,
ਚਿੰਤਾ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਟਿਕਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਬਦਲ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ)। ਡਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਹਿਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਬੰਦਾ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
