ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
naanak kee parabh bayntee parabh milhu paraapat ho-ay.
O’ God, this is Nanak’s prayer: please meet me, so that I may obtain Your union.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ-ਰੱਜਵਾਂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨ
ਵੈਸਾਖੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਤਾਂ ਲਗੈ ਜਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
vaisaakh suhaavaa taaN lagai jaa sant bhaytai har so-ay. ||3||
The month of Vaisakh looks beautiful only when one realizes God through the Saint Guru.
ਕੇਵਲ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਵੈਸਾਖ ਦਾ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦ ਸਾਧੂ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਜੇਠਿ ਜੁੜੰਦਾ ਲੋੜੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਵੰਨਿ ॥
har jayth jurhandaa lorhee-ai jis agai sabh nivann.
In the month of Jaith, (Jaith is the elder brother of the husband) we should try to unite with that Supreme Being, before whom all bow their heads.
ਜਿਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੇਠ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣ ਦਾਵਣਿ ਲਗਿਆ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਦੇਈ ਬੰਨਿ ॥
har sajan daavan lagi-aa kisai na day-ee bann.
When we are in the refuge of God, our real friend, He (God) doesn’t let the demon of death to bind us down for punishment .
ਜੇ ਹਰੀ ਸੱਜਣ ਦੇ ਲੜ ਲੱਗੇ ਰਹੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ (ਜਮ ਆਦਿਕ) ਨੂੰ ਆਗਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਕਿ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਾ ਲਏ
ਮਾਣਕ ਮੋਤੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਉਨ ਲਗੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੰਨਿ ॥
maanak motee naam parabh un lagai naahee sann.
God’s precious Name is such a wealth which cannot be stolen or taken away.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀਰੇ ਮੋਤੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਿੰਦ ਐਸਾ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਧਨ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਚੁਰਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਰੰਗ ਸਭੇ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੈ ਜੇਤੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਨਿ ॥
rang sabhay naaraa-inai jaytay man bhaavann.
All the different wonders of God, are pleasing to our mind.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ ਕੌਤਕ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, (ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਲੋੜੇ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜੀਅ ਕਰੰਨਿ ॥
jo har lorhay so karay so-ee jee-a karann.
God, Himself and all His creatures, does exactly what pleases Him.
ਇਹ ਭੀ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਜੀਵ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਈ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਧੰਨਿ ॥
jo parabh keetay aapnay say-ee kahee-ahi Dhan.
They alone are called blessed, whom God has made His Own.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇ ਕੇ) ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ੇ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਣ ਲੀਆ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਕਿਉ ਰੋਵੰਨਿ ॥
aapan lee-aa jay milai vichhurh ki-o rovann.
If people could realize God by their own efforts, why would they feel miserable upon being separated from Him?
ਜੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੋਣ?
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਰਾਪਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣੰਨਿ ॥
saaDhoo sang paraapatay naanak rang maanan.
O’ Nanak, only those persons enjoy the bliss of union with God who obtain the company of the Saints.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੇ) ਆਨੰਦ (ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ) ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ।
ਹਰਿ ਜੇਠੁ ਰੰਗੀਲਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਧਣੀ ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਭਾਗੁ ਮਥੰਨਿ ॥੪॥
har jayth rangeelaa tis Dhanee jis kai bhaag mathann. ||4||
The month of jaith (May-June) is full of joys for those fortunate ones, in whose destiny it is so preordained.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੇਠ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਾਲਕ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਆਸਾੜੁ ਤਪੰਦਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੁ ਨ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
aasaarh tapandaa tis lagai har naahu na jinna paas.
The month of Asarh seems burning hot, to those soul-brides who are not with their Husband-God.
ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਹਾੜ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਤਪਦੇ-ਕਲਪਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ
ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕੈ ਮਾਣਸ ਸੰਦੀ ਆਸ ॥
jagjeevan purakh ti-aag kai maanas sandee aas.
They have forsaken God the Primal Being, the Life of the World, and they have come to rely upon mere mortals.
ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਜਗਤ-ਦੇ-ਸਹਾਰੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਅਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਦੁਯੈ ਭਾਇ ਵਿਗੁਚੀਐ ਗਲਿ ਪਈਸੁ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸ ॥
duyai bhaa-ay viguchee-ai gal pa-ees jam kee faas.
By straying in duality, one suffer severely and feel as if noose of death has been put around his necks.
ਜੋ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਜਮ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਵਿਚ ਬੀਤਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੇਹਾ ਬੀਜੈ ਸੋ ਲੁਣੈ ਮਥੈ ਜੋ ਲਿਖਿਆਸੁ ॥
jayhaa beejai so lunai mathai jo likhi-aas.
As predestined, you shall harvest as you sow.
ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਲੇਖ ਉਸਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੇਹਾ ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਫਲ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੀ ਉਠਿ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ ਨਿਰਾਸ ॥
rain vihaanee pachhutaanee uth chalee ga-ee niraas.
(The soul-bride who forsake her Husband-God) after spending her night-life in regrets, she departs from the world with no hope at all.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਤੁਰ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨ ਕੌ ਸਾਧੂ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਸੋ ਦਰਗਹ ਹੋਇ ਖਲਾਸੁ ॥
jin kou saaDhoo bhaytee-ai so dargeh ho-ay khalaas.
(On the other hand), those who meet and follow the teachings of the saint (Guru) are honored in God’s court.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਖ਼ਰੂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ)।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਣੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਹੋਇ ਪਿਆਸ ॥
kar kirpaa parabh aapnee tayray darsan ho-ay pi-aas.
O’ God, please show Your mercy, that I may always desire for Your Vision.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੇ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
parabh tuDh bin doojaa ko nahee naanak kee ardaas.
Without You, God, there is no other at all. This is Nanak’s humble prayer.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋਦੜੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, “ਤੇਰੇ ਬਗੈਰ, ਹੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ! ਕੋਈ ਦੁਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ।”
ਆਸਾੜੁ ਸੁਹੰਦਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥੫॥
aasaarh suhandaa tis lagai jis man har charan nivaas. ||5||
The month of Asaard (June-july) is pleasing to the one in whose mind the Name of God is enshrined.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਤਪਦਾ) ਹਾੜ (ਭੀ) ਸੁਹਾਵਣਾ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਾਵਣਿ ਸਰਸੀ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
saavan sarsee kaamnee charan kamal si-o pi-aar.
In the month of Saawan (July-August ) one, who is imbued with the love for God, blooms in happiness.
ਸਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਸਚ ਰੰਗਿ ਇਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
man tan rataa sach rang iko naam aDhaar.
The mind and body are imbued with the Love of the True One; His Name is the only Support.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰੰਗ ਕੂੜਾਵਿਆ ਦਿਸਨਿ ਸਭੇ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
bikhi-aa rang koorhaavi-aa disan sabhay chhaar.
To her all the false worldly attractions of Maya appear useless like ashes.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਕੌਤਕ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਹ (ਨਿਕੰਮੇ) ਦਿਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬੂੰਦ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਪੀਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
har amrit boond suhaavanee mil saaDhoo peevanhaar.
Meeting the Guru, she is able relish the Ambrosial drop of God’s Name.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੂੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਵਣੁ ਤਿਣੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
van tin parabh sang ma-oli-aa samrath purakh apaar.
In the love of the limitless all-powerful God, the entire world (vegetation etc) is in bloom.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮੇਲ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ (ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਆਦਿਕ) ਹਰਿਆ-ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ l
ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਣੈ ਨੋ ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
har milnai no man lochdaa karam milaavanhaar.
My mind also yearns to unite with that God. If only only He would show His mercy and unite me with Himself.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਭੀ ਤਾਂਘਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਖੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੰਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥
jinee sakhee-ay parabh paa-i-aa haN-u tin kai sad balihaar.
I dedicate my life to those fellow bride-souls, who have realized God.
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਮਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
naanak har jee ma-i-aa kar sabad savaaranhaar.
Nanak says, O’ my God, please show Your mercy. It is only You who can embellish my life, through the Guru’s word.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ) ਸਵਾਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈਂ
ਸਾਵਣੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣੀ ਜਿਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰਿ ਹਾਰੁ ॥੬॥
saavan tinaa suhaaganee jin raam naam ur haar. ||6||
The month of Saawan (July-August) is delightful for those fortunate ones who have enshrined God in their heart.
ਸਾਵਣ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੰਗਲਮਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਰੂਪ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਹਾਰ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ l
ਭਾਦੁਇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣੀਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗਾ ਹੇਤੁ ॥
bhaadu-ay bharam bhulaanee-aa doojai lagaa hayt.
In the month of Bhadon (August-Sept) The bride-soul who is attached to duality (worldly riches instead of God) is lost in illusion and goes astray.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਲਖ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਜਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੇਤੁ ॥
lakh seegaar banaa-i-aa kaaraj naahee kayt.
The soul-bride may wear thousands of ornaments, but they are of no use at all. (one cannot realize God by performing any number of rituals)
ਉਹ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਹਾਰ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਕਰੇ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ।
ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਦੇਹ ਬਿਨਸਸੀ ਤਿਤੁ ਵੇਲੈ ਕਹਸਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਤੁ ॥

ਜਿਸ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵੁਸ ਵਕਤ ਲੋਕੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤੁ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਲੋਥ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੇਤੀ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੈ ਚੱਲੋ।
ਪਕੜਿ ਚਲਾਇਨਿ ਦੂਤ ਜਮ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਦੇਨੀ ਭੇਤੁ ॥
pakarh chalaa-in doot jam kisai na daynee bhayt.
The demons of death will take the soul away without telling anybody where they are taking it.
ਜਮਦੂਤ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਕਿ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਲੈ ਚੱਲੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਛਡਿ ਖੜੋਤੇ ਖਿਨੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਸਿਉ ਲਗਾ ਹੇਤੁ ॥
chhad kharhotay khinai maahi jin si-o lagaa hayt.
In an instant, all those with whom she was in love shall abandon her.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਬੜਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਲ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਾਥ ਛੱਡ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ
ਹਥ ਮਰੋੜੈ ਤਨੁ ਕਪੇ ਸਿਆਹਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਸੇਤੁ ॥
hath marorhai tan kapay si-aahhu ho-aa sayt.
(Seeing death approaching, one becomes so frightened that) one wrings hands, the body trembles, and it turns from black to white.
(ਮੌਤ ਆਈ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬੜਾ ਘਬਰਾਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਔਖਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਪੀੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਾਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਚਿੱਟਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਕ ਰੰਗ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) l
ਜੇਹਾ ਬੀਜੈ ਸੋ ਲੁਣੈ ਕਰਮਾ ਸੰਦੜਾ ਖੇਤੁ ॥
jayhaa beejai so lunai karmaa sand-rhaa khayt.
Life is like a field of deeds, where one reaps whatever one sows.
ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਖੇਤ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਵੱਢਦਾ ਹੈ
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਚਰਣ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਤੁ ॥
naanak parabh sarnaagatee charan bohith parabh dayt.
O’ Nanak, those who seek God’s refuge; He helps them crossover the world-ocean of vices.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਹਾਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ!
ਸੇ ਭਾਦੁਇ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਰਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੇਤੁ ॥੭॥
say bhaadu-ay narak na paa-ee-ah gur rakhan vaalaa hayt. ||7||
They, whose beloved is the savior Guru, are not made to suffer torments, as one suffers in the month of Bhadon.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਤੇ ਹਿਤੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭਾਦੋਂ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ,
ਅਸੁਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਮਾਹੜਾ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
asun paraym umaahrhaa ki-o milee-ai har jaa-ay.
An upsurge of love is arising within me in this pleasant month of Assu. I wonder, how could I go and meet my Husband-God?
ਅੱਸੂ ਦੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਉਛਾਲਾ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਮਨ ਤੜਫਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੱਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਂ।
