ਪੂਰਾ ਭਾਗੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pooraa bhaag hovai mukh mastak sadaa har kay gun gaahi. ||1|| rahaa-o.
reflect on God’s virtues through the Guru’s teachings, the perfect destiny will manifest on your forehead. ||1||Pause||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚੁੱਭੀ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਰ। ਤੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਜਾਗ ਪਵੇਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਇ ॥
amrit naam bhojan har day-ay.
God blesses one with the ambrosial nectar of His Name, the spiritual food,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਲੇਇ ॥
kot maDhay ko-ee virlaa lay-ay.
but a rare one among millions receives it,
(ਪਰ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ (ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਅਪਣੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੧॥
jis no apnee nadar karay-i. ||1||
and that rare person is the one upon whom He casts His gracious glance. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਵਸਾਇ ॥
gur kay charan man maahi vasaa-ay.
O’ my friend, keep the Guru’s teachings enshrined in your mind,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ (ਸੋਹਣੇ) ਚਰਨ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ,
ਦੁਖੁ ਅਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
dukh anHayraa andrahu jaa-ay.
in this way one’s suffering and darkness of ignorance from within goes away,
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
aapay saachaa la-ay milaa-ay. ||2||
and the eternal God Himself unites such a person with Him. ||2||
(ਅਤੇ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
gur kee banee si-o laa-ay pi-aar.
Imbue yourself with the love of the Guru’s divine word,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਜੋੜ,
ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਏਹੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
aithai othai ayhu aDhaar.
this (the Guru’ word) is the only support of life both here and hereafter,
(ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੀ) ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
aapay dayvai sirjanhaar. ||3||
but the Creator-God Himself bestows this love for the Guru’s word. ||3||
(ਪਰ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਚਾ ਮਨਾਏ ਅਪਣਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
sachaa manaa-ay apnaa bhaanaa.
The eternal God Himself inspires and makes one to accept His will.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਨਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋਈ ਭਗਤੁ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸੋੁਜਾਣਾ ॥
so-ee bhagat sugharh sojaanaa.
That person alone, who accepts God’s will, is a true devotee, sagacious and wise.
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਸੁਚੱਜਾ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਭਗਤ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣਾ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੭॥੭॥੨੪॥
naanak tis kai sad kurbaanaa. ||4||7||17||7||24||
Nanak is always dedicated to that person. ||4||7||17||7||24||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਲਿਵ ਉਨਮਨਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗਾਨ ॥
rasak rasak gun gaavah gurmat liv unman naam lagaan.
O’ brother, with joyous delight we should sing God’s praises through the Guru’s teachings; in this way, the ecstatic mind remains focused on God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ, ਆਓ ਅਸੀਂ ਸੁਆਦ ਲਾ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਿਆ ਕਰੀਏ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਸਤੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਮ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੧॥
amrit ras pee-aa gur sabdee ham naam vitahu kurbaan. ||1||
I have partaken the ambrosial nectar of God’s Name through the Guru’s divine word, and now I am dedicated to God’s Name. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਹਮਰੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ॥
hamray jagjeevan har paraan.
God, the life of the world, is our life breath.
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਹੀ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਹਨ ।
ਹਰਿ ਊਤਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭਾਇਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤੁ ਦੀਓ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ootam rid antar bhaa-i-o gur mant dee-o har kaan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The most exalted God became pleasing within the heart of that person in whose ears the Guru breathed the mantra of God. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਮ ਹਰੀ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਗਿਆ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਨ ॥
aavhu sant milhu mayray bhaa-ee mil har har naam vakhaan.
Come: O’ my Saintly brothers, let us join together and recite God’s Name,
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! ਆਓ, ਮਿਲ ਬੈਠੋ। ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰੀਏ ,
ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਨ ॥੨॥
kit biDh ki-o paa-ee-ai parabh apunaa mo ka-o karahu updays har daan. ||2||
please bless me with the gift of God’s Name and teach me how and in what way we can realize our God? ||2||
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਬਖਸ਼ੋ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਮਤ ਦਿਉ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੨॥
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਜਾਨ ॥
satsangat meh har har vasi-aa mil sangat har gun jaan.
God resides in the congregation of saintly people, God’s virtues are understood by joining the holy congregation.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਸਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੩॥
vadai bhaag satsangat paa-ee gur satgur paras bhagvaan. ||3||
One who has attained the company of saintly persons through good fortune, has realized God by following the divine Guru’s teachings. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਛੁਹ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਗਮ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਰਹੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ॥
gun gaavah parabh agam thaakur kay gun gaa-ay rahay hairaan.
O’ brother, let us sing praises of the incomprehensible Master-God, because we are astonished by singing about His virtues.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਓ, ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਿਏ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਹੈਰਤ ਵਿਚ ਗੁੰਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਖਿਨ ਦਾਨ ॥੪॥੧॥
jan naanak ka-o gur kirpaa Dhaaree har naam dee-o khin daan. ||4||1||
The Guru bestowed mercy on devotee Nanak and instantly blessed him with the gift of God’s Name. ||4||1||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ) ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੪॥੧॥

Raag Prabhati, Fourth Guru:
ਉਗਵੈ ਸੂਰੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਸਭ ਰੈਨਿ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਲ ॥
ugvai soor gurmukh har boleh sabh rain samHaalih har gaal.
O’ brother, with the rising of the sun, the Guru’s followers start reciting God’s Name; they also keep remembering and reflecting on God’s praises at all times.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਦੋਂ) ਸੂਰਜ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਤ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਮਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਹਮ ਲੋਚ ਲਗਾਈ ਹਮ ਕਰਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਲ ॥੧॥
hamrai parabh ham loch lagaa-ee ham karah parabhoo har bhaal. ||1||
My God has infused this longing within me, so I keep trying to realize God. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਲਗਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਢੂੰਢ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ਰਵਾਲ ॥
mayraa man saaDhoo Dhoor ravaal.
I am so humbly dedicated to the Guru, I feel as if my mind has become the dust of the feet of the Guru.
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਗੁਰ ਪਗ ਝਾਰਹ ਹਮ ਬਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har naam darirh-aa-i-o gur meethaa gur pag jhaarah ham baal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Guru has implanted within me God’s sweet Name, it has made me so humble that I feel as if I am dusting the Guru’s feet with my hair. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਕੇਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਝਾੜਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਾਕਤ ਕਉ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਅੰਧਾਰੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਫਾਥੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਾਲ ॥
saakat ka-o din rain anDhaaree mohi faathay maa-i-aa jaal.
There is always pitch darkness of spiritual ignorance for the faithless cynics, because they remain caught in the trap of love for Maya.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਸਾਰਾ) ਦਿਨ (ਸਾਰੀ) ਰਾਤ ਆਤਮਕ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ, ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਨ ਵਸਿਓ ਰਿਨਿ ਬਾਧੇ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਾਲ ॥੨॥
khin pal har parabh ridai na vasi-o rin baaDhay baho biDh baal. ||2||
God did not manifest in their hearts even for an instant; they are totally tied up in spiritual debt in so many ways. ||2||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਸਿਆ, ਉਹ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕਰਜ਼ੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਾਲ ਵਾਲ ਬੱਝੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਈ ਹਉ ਛੂਟੇ ਮਮਤਾ ਜਾਲ ॥
satsangat mil mat buDh paa-ee ha-o chhootay mamtaa jaal.
Those who have attained sublime intellect and understanding by joining the company of saints, are liberated from the traps of egotism and possessiveness.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਉੱਚੀ) ਮੱਤ (ਉੱਚੀ) ਅਕਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੩॥
har naamaa har meeth lagaanaa gur kee-ay sabad nihaal. ||3||
God’s Name and God becomes sweet to them because the Guru has delighted them through his divine word. ||3||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਗੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
ham baarik gur agam gusaa-ee gur kar kirpaa partipaal.
O’ God, we are Your children and You are the unfathomable Master of the universe: O’ Guru, bestow mercy and protect us.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਹੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਮਾਲਕ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ (ਅੰਞਾਣ) ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਸਾਡੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਬਿਖੁ ਭਉਜਲ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥੪॥੨॥
bikh bha-ojal dubday kaadh layho parabh gur naanak baal gupaal. ||4||2||
O’ Nanak: O’ God, we are Your ignorant children, please save us from drowning in the ocean of Maya, the poison for spiritual life. ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਰਾਖੇ! ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ (ਅੰਞਾਣ) ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ, ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ॥੪॥੨॥

ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ਰਸਕ ਰਸੀਕ ॥
ik khin har parabh kirpaa Dhaaree gun gaa-ay rasak raseek.
Those upon whom God bestowed mercy even for a moment, they sung His praises with joyous love and delight.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਦੇ ਰਸੀਏ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਣੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
