Raag Kalyan, Fourth Guru:
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਜੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹਗੇ ॥
parabh keejai kirpaa niDhaan ham har gun gaavhagay.
O’ God, the treasure of mercy, bestow mercy that we may keep singing Your praises.
ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਅਸੀਂ (ਜੀਵ) ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ।
ਹਉ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕਰਉ ਨਿਤ ਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਬ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ha-o tumree kara-o nit aas parabh mohi kab gal laavhigay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, I am always hoping for Your grace, O’ God, when would You embrace me (unite me with You)? ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ (ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਹੀ) ਆਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਦੋਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਵੇਗਾਂ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਮੁਗਧ ਇਆਨ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਮਝਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥
ham baarik mugaDh i-aan pitaa samjaavhigay.
We are like ignorant foolish children but God is like our kind father who always makes us understand (about our mistakes) .
ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਞਾਣ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ) ਸਮਝਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੁਤੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਭੂਲਿ ਬਿਗਾਰਿ ਜਗਤ ਪਿਤ ਭਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥੧॥
sut khin khin bhool bigaar jagat pit bhaavhigay. ||1||
Just as at every moment a son makes mistakes and is still dear to his father, similarly O’ God, the father of the world, we are dear to You. ||1||
ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ (ਜੀਵ ਬੱਚੇ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਪਿਆਰੇ (ਹੀ) ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੁਮ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਹਮ ਪਾਵਹਗੇ ॥
jo har su-aamee tum dayh so-ee ham paavhagay.
O’ God, the Master, we can receive only whatever You give us.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ (ਆਪ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਅਸੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂ ਗੇ।
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਠਉਰ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਹਮ ਜਾਵਹਗੇ ॥੨॥
mohi doojee naahee tha-ur jis peh ham jaavhagay. ||2||
I cannot think about any place, where we can go to ask for anything. ||2||
(ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਕੋਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਜਾ ਸਕੀਏ ॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਭਗਤ ਤਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥
jo har bhaaveh bhagat tinaa har bhaavhigay.
Those devotees who are pleasing to God, to them God is pleasing as well.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਭਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਲਿ ਜਾਵਹਗੇ ॥੩॥
jotee jot milaa-ay jot ral jaavhagay. ||3||
Their lights (souls) get merged into the supreme Light, and they become one with God. ||3||
(ਉਹ ਭਗਤ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਮਿਕ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥
har aapay ho-ay kirpaal aap liv laavhigay.
God Himself becomes gracious, and Himself attunes the beings to His love.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਪ (ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਜ ਰਖਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥੪॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥
jan naanak saran du-aar har laaj rakhaavhigay. ||4||6|| chhakaa 1.
Devotee Nanak takes refuge at His abode, and God always protects his honor. ||4||6|| (sixteplet-1) .
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੇ ॥
paarbarahm parmaysur su-aamee dookh nivaaran naaraa-inay.
O’ the Master-God, You are the all-pervading and supreme God, the destroyer of suffering of all the beings.
ਹੇ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਗਲ ਭਗਤ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਭਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਤਰਣ ਹਰਿ ਚਿੰਤਾਮਣੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagal bhagat jaacheh sukh saagar bhav niDh taran har chintaamanay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, the wish-fulfilling Jewel, the ocean of peace, the ship to ferry beings across the world-ocean of vices, all devotees seek gifts from You. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਮਨੋ-ਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ! ਹੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼! ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਦਮੋਦਰ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੇ ॥
deen da-i-aal jagdees damodar har antarjaamee gobinday.
O’ the merciful God of the meek, the master of universe, Damodar (god Krishna), omniscient, the support of the earth:
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰ! ਹੇ ਦਮੋਦਰ! ਹੇ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ!
ਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜਿਨ ਸ੍ਰੀਰਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਕੰਦੇ ॥੧॥
tay nirbha-o jin sareeraam Dhi-aa-i-aa gurmat muraar har mukanday. ||1||
O’ God, bestower of emancipation, those who have lovingly remembered You by following the Guru’s teachings, have become fearless. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ! ਹੇ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾਤੇ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਉਹ ਭੈ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਜਗਦੀਸੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਜੋ ਆਏ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਭਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰੇ ॥
jagdeesur charan saran jo aa-ay tay jan bhav niDh paar paray.
Those who seek the refuge of God of the universe, they cross over the world-ocean of vices.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ॥੨॥੧॥੭॥
bhagat janaa kee paij har raakhai jan naanak aap har kirpaa karay. ||2||1||7||
O’ devotee Nanak, God bestows mercy and protects the honor of His devotees ||2||1||7||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥੭॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਮਾਰੈ ਏਹ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
hamaarai ayh kirpaa keejai.
O’ God, please grant me this blessing,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਹ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ,
ਅਲਿ ਮਕਰੰਦ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਫੇਰਿ ਫੇਰਿ ਰੀਝੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
al makrand charan kamal si-o man fayr fayr reejhai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that just as the black-bee is always lured to the sap in a flower, similarly my mind may always remain focused on Your immaculate Name. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿ (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਭੌਰਾ ਫੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਰੀਝਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ) (ਤੇਰੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਲਪਟਿਆ ਰਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਨ ਜਲਾ ਸਿਉ ਕਾਜੁ ਨ ਕਛੂਐ ਹਰਿ ਬੂੰਦ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਕਉ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੧॥
aan jalaa si-o kaaj na kachhoo-ai har boond chaatrik ka-o deejai. ||1||
O’ God, just as a rainbird has no use for any other water but the drop of rain, similarly please bless me with a drop of the nectar of Your Name. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਪਪੀਹੇ ਨੂੰ (ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀ ਬੂੰਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਗ਼ਰਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਪੀਹੇ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੀ) ਬੂੰਦ ਦੇਹ ॥੧॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਮਿਲਬੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੰਤੋਖਾ ਪੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਜੈ ॥੨॥੧॥
bin milbay naahee santokhaa paykh darsan naanak jeejai. ||2||1||
O’ God, I do not feel any contentment without realizing You; Nanak spiritually survives only by visualizing You. ||2||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਠੰਢ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ, ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥

Raag Kalyan, Fifth Guru:
ਜਾਚਿਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਜਾਚੈ ॥
jaachik naam jaachai jaachai.
Your seeker keeps begging for Your Name from You,
(ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਦਾ) ਮੰਗਤਾ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਨਿੱਤ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸਰਬ ਧਾਰ ਸਰਬ ਕੇ ਨਾਇਕ ਸੁਖ ਸਮੂਹ ਕੇ ਦਾਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab Dhaar sarab kay naa-ik sukh samooh kay daatay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, the support of all beings, the master of all and the benefactor of inner peace and all comforts. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕੇਤੀ ਕੇਤੀ ਮਾਂਗਨਿ ਮਾਗੈ ਭਾਵਨੀਆ ਸੋ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
kaytee kaytee maaNgan maagai bhaavnee-aa so paa-ee-ai. ||1||
Myriad of people seek for every benefaction from You, and they receive what they wish for. ||1||
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਲੁਕਾਈ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਹਰੇਕ ਮੰਗ ਮੰਗਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਭੀ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਮੁਰਾਦ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਫਲ ਸਫਲ ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸੁ ਰੇ ਪਰਸਿ ਪਰਸਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
safal safal safal daras ray paras paras gun gaa-ee-ai.
O’ brother, most fruitful is the blessed vision of God, we should keep singing His praises by cherishing Him in our mind.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਆਓ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਸਦਾ ਛੁਹ ਛੁਹ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਤ ਤਤ ਸਿਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹੀਰੈ ਹੀਰੁ ਬਿਧਾਈਐ ॥੨॥੨॥
naanak tat tat si-o milee-ai heerai heer biDhaa-ee-ai. ||2||2||
O’ Nanak, just as an element blends perfectly with the same kind of element, similarly we should pierce our diamond like mind with the diamond like love of God and become one with Him. ||2||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਆਦਿਕ) ਤੱਤ (ਪਾਣੀ) ਤੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮਨ-ਹੀਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਹੀਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹੀਏ ॥੨॥੨॥
