ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਐਸੋ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਜੀ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਾਤ ਜੀਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ॥
aiso daan dayh jee santahu jaat jee-o balihaar.
O’ saintly people, please bless me with such a gift that I may feel like dedicatingmy life to you,
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਹੋ (ਜੋ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਪੰਜ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਰੱਖੇ, ਮੇਰੀ) ਜਿੰਦ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹੀ ਪੰਚ ਦੋਹੀ ਉਰਝਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਬਸਿਓ ਤਾਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਾਧੂਆ ਦੂਤ ਸੰਗੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maan mohee panch dohee urajh nikat basi-o taakee saran saaDhoo-aa doot sang nivaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Enticed by ego and deceived by five vices, my life is so entangled as if I live withthem: O’ saints, I have sought your refuge, liberate me from them. ||1||pause||
(ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪੰਜ (ਚੋਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ) ਠੱਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੱਕੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਥ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਓ ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥੧॥
kot janam jon bharmi-o haar pari-o du-aar. ||1||
O’ saintly people, I have been wandering through millions of births andincarnations; being exhausted, finally I have come to you. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੈਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ। ਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਆਸਰੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਈ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
kirpaa gobind bha-ee mili-o naam aDhaar.
God has bestowed mercy, and now I have received the support of Naam.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਦੁਲਭ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਵ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੧॥੪੫॥
dulabh janam safal naanak bhav utaar paar. ||2||1||45||
O’ Nanak, this very difficult to obtain human life has become fruitful, because God has ferried me across the world-ocean of vices. ||2||1||45||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁਲਭ ਜਨਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿਓਂਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥੪੫॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਏ ਆਪਨ ਆਏ ॥
sahj subhaa-ay aapan aa-ay.
On His own, God has enshrined Himself in my heart because of my love for Him nd state of spiritual poise;
(ਕਿਸੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਨਾਲ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ) ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਆ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਨ,
ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨੌ ਕਛੂ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥
kachhoo na jaanou kachhoo dikhaa-ay.
I neither know anything, nor I have shown any good deed,
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਨਾਹ ਕੁਝ ਜਾਣਦਾ-ਬੁੱਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਹ ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਵਿਖਾ ਸਕਿਆ ਹਾਂ,
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸੁਖ ਬਾਲੇ ਭੋਲੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
parabh mili-o sukh baalay bholay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
still God, the bestower of all comforts and inner peace, has revealed Himself tome, an innocent child. ||1||pause||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੋਲੇ ਬਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਾਏ ॥
sanjog milaa-ay saaDh sangaa-ay.
My good preordained destiny has united me with the congregation of saints,
(ਕਿਸੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ) ਸੰਜੋਗ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਕਤਹੂ ਨ ਜਾਏ ਘਰਹਿ ਬਸਾਏ ॥
kathoo na jaa-ay ghareh basaa-ay.
now my mind doesn’t wander around, and it remains stable within,
(ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ) ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ, (ਹਿਰਦੇ-) ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਨ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਇਹ ਚੋਲੈ ॥੧॥
gun niDhaan pargati-o ih cholai. ||1||
and God, the treasure of virtues, has manifested in this body of mine. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਚਰਨ ਲੁਭਾਏ ਆਨ ਤਜਾਏ ॥
charan lubhaa-ay aan tajaa-ay.
God’s Name has lured my mind and has made me abandon the love andattachment of worldly things,
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਲ) ਖਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਥੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੋਹ-ਪਿਆਰ ਛਡਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ,
ਥਾਨ ਥਨਾਏ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
thaan thanaa-ay sarab samaa-ay.
Now I can feel that God is pervading in all places and everybody,
(ਹੁਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਨ ਬੋਲੈ ॥੨॥੧॥੪੬॥
rasak rasak naanak gun bolai. ||2||1||46||
Now Nanak keeps reciting His praises with great joy and love. ||2||1||46||
(ਹੁਣ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਬੜੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥੪੬॥

Raag Kaanraa, Fifth Guru:
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮਿਲਨ ਦੁਰਾਈ ॥
gobind thaakur milan duraa-eeN.
It is extremely difficult to realize God, the master of the universe;
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ, ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਰਮਿਤਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਗੰਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
parmit roop agamm agochar rahi-o sarab samaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
even though He is pervading everywhere but His form is beyond any estimation,He is inaccessible and incomprehensible. ||1||pause||
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਉਂਞ ਤਾਂ) ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ (ਪਰ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
ਕਹਨਿ ਭਵਨਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਪਾਇਓ ਪਾਇਓ ਅਨਿਕ ਉਕਤਿ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥੧॥
kahan bhavan naahee paa-i-o paa-i-o anik ukat chaturaa-ee. ||1||
God is not realized just by speaking about spirituality, or by wandering aroundholy places and not even by any reasoning or cleverness. ||1||
(ਨਿਰਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ) ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ, (ਤੀਰਥ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਤੇ) ਭੌਣ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਯੁਕਤੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਜਤਨ ਜਤਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਰੇ ਤਉ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਜਉ ਕਿਰਪਾਈ ॥
jatan jatan anik upaav ray ta-o mili-o ja-o kirpaa-ee.
God cannot be realized even by innumerable efforts; He is realized only when Hebestows His mercy.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਤਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀਲਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ। ਉਹ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਰੇਨਾਈ ॥੨॥੨॥੪੭॥
parabhoo da-i-aar kirpaar kirpaa niDh jan naanak sant raynaa-ee. ||2||2||47||O’
Devotee Nanak, the kind, compassionate and merciful God is realized only byhumbly following the Guru’s teachings. ||2||2||47||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਦਇਆਲ, ਕਿਰਪਾਲ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥੪੭॥

Raag Kaanraa, Fifth Guru:
ਮਾਈ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ॥
maa-ee simrat raam raam raam.
O’ my mother, I always remember God with adoration,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ॥
parabh binaa naahee hor.
because except for God, I have no other support.
ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ (ਆਸਰਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਚਿਤਵਉ ਚਰਨਾਰਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਸਨ ਨਿਸਿ ਭੋਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
chitva-o charnaarbind saasan nis bhor. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Therefore day and night with every breath I focus my mind on His immaculateName. ||1||pause||
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਲਾਇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕੀਨ ਆਪਨ ਤੂਟਤ ਨਹੀ ਜੋਰੁ ॥
laa-ay pareet keen aapan tootat nahee jor.
By imbuing myself with God’s love, I have made Him so much of my own, thatthis knot of love with Him will never break.
(ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ) ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਕੇ (ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਹੁਣ ਇਹ) ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਗੰਢ ਟੁੱਟੇਗੀ ਨਹੀਂ
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਰਬਸੋੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਨਿਧੇ ਸੁਖ ਮੋਰ ॥੧॥
paraan man Dhan sarbaso har gun niDhay sukh mor. ||1||
God, the treasure of virtues, is the peace of my life; He is my breath, my mind,my wealth and everything else to me. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹਰੀ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਹੈ, ਜਿੰਦ ਹੈ, ਮਨ ਹੈ, ਧਨ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਰਾਮ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਰਿਦ ਖੋਰਿ ॥
eet oot raam pooran nirkhat rid khor.
God is pervading everywhere; I am able to visualize Him deep within my heart.
ਇਥੇ ਉਥੇ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਖੁਡ ਵਿਚ (ਬੈਠਾ) ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਸੰਤ ਸਰਨ ਤਰਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਦੁਖੁ ਘੋਰ ॥੨॥੩॥੪੮॥
sant saran taran naanak binsi-o dukh ghor. ||2||3||48||
O’ Nanak, God is a ship to ferry people across the world-oceanof vices; those who realize Him in the refuge of saints, their huge suffering ends. ||2||3||48||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ, ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਵੱਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੩॥੪੮॥

ਜਨ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੰਗੇ ਅਸਨੇਹੁ ॥
jan ko parabh sangay asnayhu.
O’ God, Your humble devotee is imbued with loving fondness for You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਜਨੋ ਤੂ ਮੀਤੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੇਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saajno too meet mayraa garihi tayrai sabh kayhu. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God! You are my best friend, and everything is in Your Power. ||1||pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! , ਤੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਾਨੁ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਤਾਨੁ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਧਨੁ ਲਖਮੀ ਸੁਤ ਦੇਹ ॥੧॥
maan maaNga-o taan maaNga-o Dhan lakhmee sut dayh. ||1||
O’ God! I beg honor and strength from You; please bless me with wealth,children, and good health. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਸਰੀਰਕ ਅਰੋਗਤਾ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਭੁਗਤਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
mukat jugat bhugat pooran parmaanand param niDhaan.
O’ God, You are the bestower of liberation from vices, the righteous living andfood for survival; You are the supreme treasure of perfect peace and bliss.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜਾਚ ਸਿਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ।
