ਬਿਸਮ ਬਿਸਮ ਬਿਸਮ ਹੀ ਭਈ ਹੈ ਲਾਲ ਗੁਲਾਲ ਰੰਗਾਰੈ ॥
bisam bisam bisam hee bha-ee hai laal gulaal rangaarai.
I have been wonderstruck by visualizing the beauteous God.
ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ, ਵਿਸਮਾਦ, ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤਨ ਰਸੁ ਆਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਉ ਚਾਖਿ ਗੂੰਗਾ ਮੁਸਕਾਰੈ ॥੨॥੧॥੨੦॥
kaho naanak santan ras aa-ee hai ji-o chaakh goongaa muskaarai. ||2||1||20||
O’ Nanak, say, the saints relish the sublime essence of Naam, but they cannot describe, just as upon eating a sweet a dumb person just smiles, but cannot describe it. ||2||1||20||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ, ਆਖ- ਸੰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਇਸ ਸੁਆਦ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗੁੰਗਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੋਈ ਸੁਆਦਲਾ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਚੱਖ ਕੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮੁਸਕਰਾ ਹੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਸੁਆਦ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੨॥੧॥੨੦॥

Raag Kaanraa, Fifth Guru:
ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨੁ ਆਨ ॥
na jaanee santan parabh bin aan.
The saints do not consider anyone else but God, pervading anywhere.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ (ਕਿਤੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ।
ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਸਭ ਪੇਖਿ ਸਮਾਨੋ ਮੁਖਿ ਬਕਨੋ ਮਨਿ ਮਾਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ooch neech sabh paykh samaano mukh bakno man maan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Visualizing Him equally pervading in all beings whether high or low, they recite God’s Name and remember Him il their mind. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਉੱਚੇ ਨੀਵੇਂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ) ਇੱਕ-ਸਮਾਨ (ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ॥
ghat ghat poor rahay sukh saagar bhai bhanjan mayray paraan.
God who is pervading in each and every heart, is dearer to me than my life, He is the destroyer of fear and the ocean of bliss.
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ, ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ।
ਮਨਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਭਇਓ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਨਾਸਿਓ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦੀਓ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਨ ॥੧॥
maneh pargaas bha-i-o bharam naasi-o mantar dee-o gur kaan. ||1||
The mind of those, in whose ears God has enshrined the Guru’s mantra, has been enlightened with divine knowledge and all their doubt has vanished. ||1||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਰਤ ਰਹੇ ਕ੍ਰਤਗ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਗ੍ਯ੍ਯਿਾਨ ॥
karat rahay kartaga-y karunaa mai antarjaamee gi-yaan.
The grateful saints keep talking about the virtues of merciful God, who is the Knower of all hearts.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਸੰਤ ਜਨ) ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਤਰਸ-ਰੂਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਮਾਂਗਨ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਨ ॥੨॥੨॥੨੧॥
aath pahar naanak jas gaavai maaNgan ka-o har daan. ||2||2||21||
In order to receive the gift of God’s Name, Nanak also always keep singing His praises ||2||2||21||
ਨਾਨਕ (ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥੨੧॥

Raag Kaanraa, Fifth Guru:
ਕਹਨ ਕਹਾਵਨ ਕਉ ਕਈ ਕੇਤੈ ॥
kahan kahaavan ka-o ka-ee kaytai.
O’ my friends, there are many who call themselves or let themselves be called great persons united with God.
ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵਡਾ ਆਖਣ ਅਖਵਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਤਾਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਹਨ,
ਐਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਬਿਰਲੋ ਹੈ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੋ ਤਤ ਜੋਗ ਕਉ ਬੇਤੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aiso jan birlo hai sayvak jo tat jog ka-o baytai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
but rare is such a true devotee of God who truly understands the essence of union with God. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਸੰਤ-ਜਨ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਗਤ-ਦੇ-ਮੂਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਭੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਏਕੈ ਏਕੀ ਨੇਤੈ ॥
dukh naahee sabh sukh hee hai ray aykai aykee naytai.
O’ friend, such a Guru’s follower bears no sorrow, is completely at peace, and he visualizes only One God everywhere.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਐਸੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ) ਆਨੰਦ ਹੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬੁਰਾ ਨਹੀ ਸਭੁ ਭਲਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਹਾਰ ਨਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੇਤੈ ॥੧॥
buraa nahee sabh bhalaa hee hai ray haar nahee sabh jaytai. ||1||
O’ friend, no one seems evil to him, and everyone seems good; he never loses against vices and always wins. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬੁਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਪਦਾ, ਹਰੇਕ ਭਲਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਕਦੇ ਹਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਸਦਾ ਜਿੱਤ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੋਗੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਖੀ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਛੋਡਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਲੇਤੈ ॥
sog naahee sadaa harkhee hai ray chhod naahee kichh laytai.
Such a person is never in agony but always in bliss, and except the divine bliss he never accepts anything else.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ) ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦੀ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ) ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਨੂੰ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹੈ ਕਤ ਆਵੈ ਕਤ ਰਮਤੈ ॥੨॥੩॥੨੨॥
kaho naanak jan har har har hai kat aavai kat ramtai. ||2||3||22||
O’ Nanak, say that such a devotee is an embodiment of God, so he doesn’t go through the cycle of birth and death. ||2||3||22||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ- ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ॥੨॥੩॥੨੨॥

ਹੀਏ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
hee-ay ko pareetam bisar na jaa-ay.
I pray that my heart may never forget my Beloved God.
(ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ) ਦਿਲ ਦਾ ਜਾਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ) ਨਾਹ ਭੁੱਲੇ।
ਤਨ ਮਨ ਗਲਤ ਭਏ ਤਿਹ ਸੰਗੇ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਰਹੀ ਮੋਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tan man galat bha-ay tih sangay mohnee mohi rahee moree maa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my mother, if I forsake God, the enticer Maya allures me and then both my body and mind remain engrossed in it. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ! (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਇਆਂ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਰੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ (ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੀ) ਉਸ (ਮੋਹਨੀ) ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਪਹਿ ਕਹਉ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਹਉ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਤੇਊ ਤੇਊ ਗਹੇ ਰਹੇ ਅਟਕਾਇ ॥
jai jai peh kaha-o baritha ha-o apunee tay-oo tay-oo gahay rahay atkaa-ay.
To whomsoever I describe my difficult situation, they themselves are caught by the enticer Maya and stuck in this journey of life.
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਸ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਹ ਔਖਿਆਈ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਭੀ ਸਾਰੇ (ਇਸ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਿਚ) ਫਸੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ ਵਿਚ) ਰੁਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਕੀ ਏਕੈ ਜਾਲੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗੰਠਿ ਨਹੀ ਛੋਰਾਇ ॥੧॥
anik bhaaNt kee aykai jaalee taa kee ganth nahee chhoraa-ay. ||1||
In all sorts of ways, the enticer Maya has cast its net, and it’s knot cannot be loosened. ||1||
(ਇਹ ਮੋਹਨੀ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਰੂਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਜਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੀ (ਪਈ ਹੋਈ) ਗੰਢ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਛੁੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਫਿਰਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਆਇਓ ਸੰਤਨ ਹੀ ਸਰਨਾਇ ॥
firat firat naanak daas aa-i-o santan hee sarnaa-ay.
O’ Nanak, after wandering around in many incarnations, when eventually a person comes to the refuge of the saint Guru,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਭਟਕਦਾ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਦਾਸ (ਬਣ ਕੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਾਟੇ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਲੀਓ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਗਾਇ ॥੨॥੪॥੨੩॥
kaatay agi-aan bharam moh maa-i-aa lee-o kanth lagaa-ay. ||2||4||23||
all his bonds of ignorance, doubt, emotional attachment and the love for Maya are cut off, and God unites him with Himself. ||2||4||23||
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ (ਦੀਆਂ ਗੰਢਾਂ) ਕੱਟੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੪॥੨੩॥

ਆਨਦ ਰੰਗ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਹਮਾਰੈ ॥
aanad rang binod hamaarai.
I am experiencing a unique state of bliss, joy in my heart,
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੇ ਚਾਉ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮੋ ਗਾਵਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naamo gaavan naam Dhi-aavan naam hamaaray paraan aDhaarai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
because Naam has become the support of my life, my song of joy, and the focus of my remembrance. ||1||Pause||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ) ਗੀਤ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ (ਬਣ ਚੁਕਾ) ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਮੋ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥
naamo gi-aan naam isnaanaa har naam hamaaray kaaraj savaarai.
Now Naam is the knowledge of scriptures for me, Naam is my purifying bath at the pilgrimages, and Naam resolves all my affairs.
ਹੁਣ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਗਿਆਨ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਡਾਈ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
har naamo sobhaa naam badaa-ee bha-ojal bikham naam har taarai. ||1||
God’s Name is glory for me, Naam is my honor and Naam ferries us across the difficult and dreadful worldly ocean of vices. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ) ਸੋਭਾ-ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਇਸ ਔਖੇ ਤਰੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅਗਮ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਲਾਲ ਅਮੋਲਾ ਭਇਓ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨਾਰੈ ॥
agam padaarath laal amolaa bha-i-o paraapat gur charnaarai.
God’s precious Name cannot be accessed by our own effort, this priceless Naam can be received through the Guru’s teachings only.
ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤਕ (ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਾਲ) ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ, ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਲਾਲ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆਂ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਾ ਮਗਨ ਭਏ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਦਰਸਾਰੈ ॥੨॥੫॥੨੪॥
kaho naanak parabh bha-ay kirpaalaa magan bha-ay hee-arai darsaarai. ||2||5||24||
O’ Nanak, say, anyone on whom God becomes gracious, his heart remains absorbed in His blessed vision. ||2||5||24||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੫॥੨੪॥

ਸਾਜਨ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇਰੋ ॥

God, the beloved friend and master of all, is always residing quite near you.
ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਸੱਜਣ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ) ਨੇੜੇ (ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ)।
ਪੇਖਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਸਭਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗੇ ਥੋਰੈ ਕਾਜ ਬੁਰੋ ਕਹ ਫੇਰੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paykhat sunat sabhan kai sangay thorai kaaj buro kah fayro. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Yes, God is always right beside everybody, He sees and hears everything, so for that life which is of brief span, why do you indulge in evil deeds? ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਮ) ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਥੋੜੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਮਨੋਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਿਉਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੇਤੋ ਲਪਟਾਇਓ ਕਛੂ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਤੇਰੋ ॥
naam binaa jayto laptaa-i-o kachhoo nahee naahee kachh tayro.
Except for Naam, whatever else you are attached to, nothing belongs to you now and none of these will accompany you after death.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਚੰਬੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ (ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਨਾ।
ਆਗੈ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਆਵਤ ਸਭ ਪਰਗਟ ਈਹਾ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਭਰਮ ਅੰਧੇਰੋ ॥੧॥
aagai darisat aavat sabh pargat eehaa mohi-o bharam anDhayro. ||1||
Lured by the love of Maya you are wandering in the darkness of doubt here in this world; but hereafter, you would see the result of your current deeds. ||1||
ਇਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, ਭਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ (ਠੇਢੇ ਖਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ) ਪਰ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ (ਇਥੋਂ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅਟਕਿਓ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਬਿਸੇਰੋ ॥
atki-o sut banitaa sang maa-i-aa dayvanhaar daataar bisayro.
Attached to the love of your son, wife and Maya, you are going away from the path of spiritual life; you have forsaken God, the benefactor who gave you all.
ਤੂੰ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਪੰਧ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੁਕਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈਂ, ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੇ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
