ਗੁਣ ਰਮੰਤ ਦੂਖ ਨਾਸਹਿ ਰਿਦ ਭਇਅੰਤ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥੩॥
gun ramant dookh naaseh rid bha-i-ant saaNt. ||3||
By singing the praises of God, all the sorrows are eradicated and the heart becomes tranquil and calm. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਢ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਉ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥
amritaa ras pee-o rasnaa naanak har rang raat. ||4||4||15||
O’ Nanak, keep drinking the ambrosial nectar of Naam with your tongue and remain imbued with God’s love. ||4||4||15||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥

ਸਾਜਨਾ ਸੰਤ ਆਉ ਮੇਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saajnaa sant aa-o mayrai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my saintly friends, please come and join me. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਆਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਨਦਾ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਮੰਗਲ ਕਸਮਲਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਪਰੇਰੈ ॥੧॥
aandaa gun gaa-ay mangal kasmalaa mit jaahi parayrai. ||1||
O’ friends, by singing praises of God in your company bliss and joys prevail in my heart and all my sins are eliminated. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! (ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨ ਧਰਉ ਮਾਥੈ ਚਾਂਦਨਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਅੰਧੇਰੈ ॥੨॥
sant charan Dhara-o maathai chaaNdnaa garihi ho-ay anDhayrai. ||2||
When I humbly accept the Guru’s teachings, the spiritual darkness of my ignorant mind gets enlightened. ||2||
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ (ਹਿਰਦੇ-) ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਜਉ ਪੇਖਿ ਨੇਰੈ ॥੩॥
sant parsaad kamal bigsai gobind bhaja-o paykh nayrai. ||3||
By the grace of the Guru, the lotus of my heart is delighted, and visualizing God near me I sing His praises. ||3||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ-) ਕੌਲ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਪਾਏ ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹ ਬੇਰੈ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੬॥
parabh kirpaa tay sant paa-ay vaar vaar naanak uh bayrai. ||4||5||16||
O’ Nanak, I am dedicated to that moment, when I started following the Guru’s teachings by the grace of God. ||4||5||16||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ| ॥੪॥੫॥੧੬॥

ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ॥

O’ God, the sustainer of the universe, I seek the refuge of Your Name,
ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ,
ਮੋਹ ਮਾਨ ਧੋਹ ਭਰਮ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਜੈ ਕਾਟਿ ਬੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
moh maan Dhoh bharam raakh leejai kaat bayree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Please protect me by cutting the bonds of worldly attachment, pride, deceit, and doubt. ||1||Pause||
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮੋਹ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ, ਠੱਗੀ, ਭਟਕਣਾ (ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀਆਂ) ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬੂਡਤ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ॥
boodat sansaar saagar.
Those who are drowning in the worldly ocean of vices:
ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਰਹੇ ਜੀਵ,
ਉਧਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਰਤਨਾਗਰ ॥੧॥
uDhray har simar ratnaagar. ||1||
O’ God, the treasure of precious Naam, are saved by remembering Your Name with adoration. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਣ ਹਰੀ! (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸੀਤਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
seetlaa har naam tayraa.
O’ God! Your Name is cooling and soothing to the heart,
ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਠੰਢ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਪੂਰਨੋ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੨॥
poorno thaakur parabh mayraa. ||2||
and You are my all pervading Master-God. ||2||
ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਦੀਨ ਦਰਦ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਤਾਰਨ ॥
deen darad nivaar taaran.
God is like a ship to ferry the destitutes across the worldly ocean of vices by eliminating their suffering.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗ਼ਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ॥੩॥
har kirpaa niDh patit uDhaaran. ||3||
God is the treasure of mercy and purifier of sinners. ||3||
ਹਰੀ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਦੂਖ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
kot janam dookh kar paa-i-o.
One is blessed with the human life after suffering through millions of births,
(ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੁਖੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੭॥
sukhee naanak gur naam darirh-aa-i-o. ||4||6||17||
but O’ Nanak, he alone rejoices in inner peace within whose heart, the Guru has firmly enshrined God’s Name. ||4||6||17||
(ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੁਖੀ (ਉਹੀ) ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੭॥

ਧਨਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚਰਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
Dhan uh pareet charan sang laagee.
Blessed is that love which arises in remembrance of God.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੀ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kot jaap taap sukh paa-ay aa-ay milay pooran badbhaagee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who is blessed with it, finds inner peace as if he has performed millions of penances and meditations; he realizes God by good fortune. ||1||Pause||
(ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਪਾਂ ਤਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਵਰ ਓਟ ਸਗਲੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
mohi anaath daas jan tayraa avar ot saglee mohi ti-aagee.
O’ God, I am helpless devotee of Yours; I have abandoned all other support.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ, (ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀ ਓਟ ਛੱਡ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਭੋਰ ਭਰਮ ਕਾਟੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗੀ ॥੧॥
bhor bharam kaatay parabh simrat gi-aan anjan mil sovat jaagee. ||1||
O’ God, every trace of doubt has been eradicated by remembering You and applying the ointment of spiritual wisdom, and I have awakened from my slumber of Maya by realizing You. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪਾਇਆਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟੇ ਭਰਮ ਭੀ ਕੱਟੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ, (ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁੱਤੀ ਜਾਗ ਪਈ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਤੂ ਅਥਾਹੁ ਅਤਿ ਬਡੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਰਤਨਾਗੀ ॥
too athaahu at bado su-aamee kirpaa sinDh pooran ratnaagee.
O’ Master-God, You are really great and unfathomable; You are the ocean of mercy and treasure of precious Naam.
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਅਥਾਹ ਦਇਆ-ਦਾ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਣ ਹੈਂ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਚਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਮਸਤਕੁ ਆਨਿ ਧਰਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਗੀ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੮॥
naanak jaachak har har naam maaNgai mastak aan Dhari-o parabh paagee. ||2||7||18||
O’ God! Nanak prays for the charity of Your Name like a beggar and has totally surrendered himself to You. ||2||7||18||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਦਾ) ਮੰਗਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ) ਮੱਥਾ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੮॥

ਕੁਚਿਲ ਕਠੋਰ ਕਪਟ ਕਾਮੀ ॥
kuchil kathor kapat kaamee.
We, mortals are immoral, stone hearted, deceitful and lustful:
ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਗੰਦੇ ਆਚਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਦਈ ਹਾਂ, ਠੱਗੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਾਂ, ਵਿਸ਼ਈ ਹਾਂ।
ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਤਾਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ji-o jaaneh ti-o taar su-aamee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ Master-God, Please ferry us across the world-ocean of vices any way You wish. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣਾ ਠੀਕ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਜੋਗੁ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਲ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
too samrath saran jog too raakhahi apnee kal Dhaar. ||1||
O’ God! You are the All-powerful and capable Provider of refuge to those who seek it, and You have been protecting the mortals by exerting Your power. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਰਨ-ਪਏ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ (ਆ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਨੇਮ ਸੁਚਿ ਸੰਜਮ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਨ ਬਿਧੇ ਛੁਟਕਾਰ ॥
jaap taap naym such sanjam naahee in biDhay chhutkaar.
The mortals cannot be liberated from vices by doing such deeds as worship, penance, bodily purification, and austerity.
ਜਪ, ਤਪ, ਵਰਤ-ਨੇਮ; ਸਰੀਰਕ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ, ਸੰਜਮ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਗਰਤ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੯॥
garat ghor anDh tay kaadhahu parabh naanak nadar nihaar. ||2||8||19||
O’ Nanak, say O’ God, please bestow Your gracious glance and pull me out of the deep blind pit of worldly vices. ||2||8||19||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ-ਆਖ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਕੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਟੋਏ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੯॥

ਰਾਗ ਕਾਨੜਾ, ਘਰ ੪ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਰਾਇਨ ਨਰਪਤਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੈ ॥
naaraa-in narpat namaskaarai.
That Guru who bows in humble reverence to God, the Master of all beings,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਐਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aisay gur ka-o bal bal jaa-ee-ai aap mukat mohi taarai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
we should dedicate ourselves to such a Guru who himself is emancipated and can ferry me across the world ocean of vices. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਹੜਾ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਆਪ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਗੁਨ ਕਹੀਐ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਪਾਰੈ ॥
kavan kavan kavan gun kahee-ai ant nahee kachh paarai.
There is no end or limit to God’s virtues, which of His virtues should we describe?
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਲਾਖ ਲਾਖ ਲਾਖ ਕਈ ਕੋਰੈ ਕੋ ਹੈ ਐਸੋ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
laakh laakh laakh ka-ee korai ko hai aiso beechaarai. ||1||
However it is only a rare person out of millions who thinks like this. ||1||
ਜੋ ਇਉਂ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ (ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
