ਜਨ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਓਇ ਊਤਮ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਨ ॥੩॥
jan kee mahimaa baran na saaka-o o-ay ootam har har kayn. ||3||
I cannot describe the glory of God’s devotees because God Himself has made them sublime. ||3||
ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਆਪ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਹ ਵਡੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਰਾਸਿ ਦੇਨ ॥
tumH har saah vaday parabh su-aamee ham vanjaaray raas dayn.
O’ the Master-God! You are the great owner of the treasure of Naam, and we humans are just its poor traders; please bless us with the wealth of Naam.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ-ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਹ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਲਦਿ ਵਾਖਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲੇਨ ॥੪॥੨॥
jan naanak ka-o da-i-aa parabh Dhaarahu lad vaakhar har har layn. ||4||2||
O’ God, please bestow mercy upon me, Your devotee Nanak, so that I may load up the merchandise of Your Name. ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ-ਸੌਦਾ ਲੱਦ ਸਕਾਂ ॥੪॥੨॥

ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥
jap man raam naam pargaas.
O’ my mind, lovingly remember God’s Name, because one becomes spiritually enlightened by doing so.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ (ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਨੀ ਵਿਚੇ ਗਿਰਹ ਉਦਾਸ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har kay sant mil pareet lagaanee vichay girah udaas. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Meeting with God’s saints, those who develop love for Him, remain detached from the love for Maya even while living within the household. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਰਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਸ ॥
ham har hirdai japi-o naam narhar parabh kirpaa karee kirpaas.
When the merciful God bestowed grace, we lovingly remembered His Name within our heart;
ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਅਸਾਂ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ;
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸਿਆ ਉਦਮ ਭਏ ਮਿਲਨ ਕੀ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
an-din anad bha-i-aa man bigsi-aa udam bha-ay milan kee aas. ||1||
since then bliss always prevailed within us, our mind got delighted, and it started making more efforts to remember God in the hope of realizing Him. ||1||
ਓਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ, (ਸਾਡਾ) ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਪਿਆ, (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ) ਉੱਦਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਗਿਆ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਬਣਦੀ ਗਈ ॥੧॥
ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਾਸ ਲੀਏ ਹਮ ਗ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
ham har su-aamee pareet lagaa-ee jitnay saas lee-ay ham garaas.
Those of us who developed love for the Master-God, and lovingly remembered Him with every breath and every morsel of food,
ਅਸਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ (ਤੇ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੇਕ ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ),
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦਹਨ ਭਏ ਖਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੂਟਿ ਗਏ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਫਾਸ ॥੨॥
kilbikh dahan bha-ay khin antar toot ga-ay maa-i-aa kay faas. ||2||
all their sins got burnt and bonds of Maya got broken in an instant. ||2||
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਸੜ ਗਏ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈਆਂ ॥੨॥
ਕਿਆ ਹਮ ਕਿਰਮ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਰਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਾਸ ॥
ki-aa ham kiram ki-aa karam kamaaveh moorakh mugaDh rakhay parabh taas.
We are just like the tiny worms so what deeds can we do? It is that merciful God who Himself protects the ignorant fools like us.
ਅਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਛ ਜਹੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਹਾਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਕੀਹ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ? ਸਾਡੀ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਵਗਨੀਆਰੇ ਪਾਥਰ ਭਾਰੇ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਤਰੇ ਤਰਾਸ ॥੩॥
avganee-aaray paathar bhaaray satsangat mil taray taraas. ||3||
We unvirtuous beings, loaded with sins are heavy as stones; with God’s help, we can swim across the world-ocean of vices by joining the holy congregation. ||3||
ਅਸੀਂ ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, (ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਰ ਨਾਲ) ਪੱਥਰ ਵਰਗੇ ਭਾਰੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ, (ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜੇਤੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੀ ਜਗਦੀਸਰਿ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਊਚ ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਖਿਆਸ ॥
jaytee sarisat karee jagdeesar tay sabh ooch ham neech bikhi-aas.
All the creatures in the entire universe which God has created are superior, and we are the lowly beings who are engrossed in vices.
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਤਨੀ ਭੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਜੰਤ ਉੱਚੇ ਹਨ, ਅਸੀਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੀਵੇਂ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਮਰੇ ਅਵਗੁਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਟੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸ ॥੪॥੩॥
hamray avgun sang gur maytay jan naanak mayl lee-ay parabh paas. ||4||3||
O’ devotee Nanak, God eradicates our sins in the Guru’s company, and the Guru unites us with God. ||4||3||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਡੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਟਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥

ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਵਾਕ ॥
mayrai man raam naam japi-o gur vaak.
My Mind has lovingly remembered God’s Name through the Guru’s words,
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੇ (ਭੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਜਗਦੀਸਰਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਗਇਓ ਸਭ ਝਾਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har kirpaa karee jagdeesar durmat doojaa bhaa-o ga-i-o sabh jhaak. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God, the Master of the universe has bestowed mercy upon me and all my evil-mindedness, duality, and longing for materialism has vanished. ||1||Pause||
ਸ਼੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੰਦੀ-ਅਕਲ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਝਾਕ ਸਮੂਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਓ ਗੁਪਲਾਕ ॥
naanaa roop rang har kayray ghat ghat raam ravi-o guplaak.
There are so many forms and colors of God and He is secretly dwelling in each and every heart.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਹਨ, ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਹਨ। ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗੁਪਤ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਉਘਰਿ ਗਏ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੇ ਤਾਕ ॥੧॥
har kay sant milay har pargatay ughar ga-ay bikhi-aa kay taak. ||1||
Those who meet and follow the teachings of God’s saints, the doors of Maya, which keep them away from Him, open up and He manifests within them. ||1||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ (ਮੋਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦ) ਭਿੱਤ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਿਨ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿਕ ਰਸਾਕ ॥
sant janaa kee bahut baho sobhaa jin ur Dhaari-o har rasik rasaak.
The glory of those saintly people is absolutely great, who have lovingly enshrined God, the master of bliss, within their hearts.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਸੀਏ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਸਾ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਬਹੁਤ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜੈਸੇ ਗਊ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਛਰਾਕ ॥੨॥
har kay sant milay har mili-aa jaisay ga-oo daykh bachhraak. ||2||
Those who meet God’s saints, they realize God and remain delighted like a calf feels happy upon seeing its mother. ||2||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਉਂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵੱਛਾ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਜਨਕ ਜਨਾਕ ॥
har kay sant janaa meh har har tay jan ootam janak janaak.
God Himself resides within His saints, and they are spiritually exalted more than other human beings.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਾਸੁ ਬਸਾਨੀ ਛੂਟਿ ਗਈ ਮੁਸਕੀ ਮੁਸਕਾਕ ॥੩॥
tin har hirdai baas basaanee chhoot ga-ee muskee muskaak. ||3||
Since they have enshrined the fragrance of God’s Name in their hearts, all the odor of vices vanishes from within them. ||3||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਵਸਾ ਲਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ( ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਬਦਬੂ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਜਨ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਆਪਨ ਅਪਨਾਕ ॥
tumray jan tumH hee parabh kee-ay har raakh layho aapan apnaak.
O’ God, You Yourself embellish Your devotees and You Yourself protect them after making them Your own.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਚੰਗੇ) ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਬੰਧਪ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਕ ॥੪॥੪॥
jan naanak kay sakhaa har bhaa-ee maat pitaa banDhap har saak. ||4||4||
O’ Nanak, God is the companion, sibling, mother, father, and relative of His devotees. ||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹਨ, ਭਰਾ ਹਨ, ਮਾਂ ਹਨ, ਪਿਉ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਕ-ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੪॥

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਗੜਿ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਵੇੜ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਲੀਓ ਗੜੁ ਜੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har vasat maa-i-aa garheh vayrhHee gur kai sabad lee-o garh jeet. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The precious commodity of God’s Name is enclosed in the fortress of the love for Maya, but I have conquered this fortress through the Guru’s word. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਭਰਮਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਬਹੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਆ ਲੁਬਧੋ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਮੋਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
mithi-aa bharam bharam baho bharmi-aa lubDho putar kaltar moh pareet.
The human being keeps wandering in pursuit of perishable things, and remains engrossed in love and emotional attachment for his children and wife;
(ਜੀਵ) ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪੁੱਤਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਜੈਸੇ ਤਰਵਰ ਕੀ ਤੁਛ ਛਾਇਆ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਦੇਹ ਭੀਤਿ ॥੧॥
jaisay tarvar kee tuchh chhaa-i-aa khin meh binas jaa-ay dayh bheet. ||1||
but just as the shade of a tree lasts for a short time, similarly one’s body perishes in an instant like a wall of mud. ||1||
ਪਰ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਛਾਂ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੀ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਢਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੱਚੀ) ਕੰਧ ॥੧॥
ਹਮਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਜਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
hamray paraan pareetam jan ootam jin mili-aa man ho-ay parteet.
Those exalted saints of God are dearer to us than our own life, by meeting them the belief in God sprouts up in the mind,
ਉੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਪਰਚੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥੨॥
parchai raam ravi-aa ghat antar asthir raam ravi-aa rang pareet. ||2||
He (God) becomes pleased and is visualized residing in all; the eternal God can be remembered only when one is imbued with His love. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ; ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
