ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
karam hovai taa satgur paa-ee-ai vin karmai paa-i-aa na jaa-ay.
When one is blessed with God’s grace, only then one meets and follows the Guru’s teachings; yes, one cannot meet the Guru without the divine grace.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਹੋਈਐ ਜਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
satgur mili-ai kanchan ho-ee-ai jaaN har kee ho-ay rajaa-ay. ||1||
God willing, one becomes pure as gold upon meeting the Guru.||1||
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸ਼ੁੱਧ) ਸੋਨਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਪਰ ਇਹ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
man mayray har har naam chit laa-ay.
O’ my mind, always keep yourself attuned to God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਾਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satgur tay har paa-ee-ai saachaa har si-o rahai samaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
It is only by following the true Guru’s teachings that one realizes the eternal God and remains merged in God’s Name. ||1||Pause||
ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
satgur tay gi-aan oopjai taaN ih sansaa jaa-ay.
When wisdom of spiritual life wells up in one’s mind by following the Guru’s teachings, then the fear of wandering of the human mind disappears.
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਨਹ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
satgur tay har bujhee-ai garabh jonee nah paa-ay. ||2||
One realizes God through the Guru’s teachings, and then he does not fall into the cycle of birth and death. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਮਰਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
gur parsaadee jeevat marai mar jeevai sabad kamaa-ay.
By the Guru’s grace, one remains unaffected by the love for Maya while making his living in the world, and living by the Guru’s word, he attains spiritual growth.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਤ-ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੋਈ ਪਾਏ ਜਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੩॥
mukat du-aaraa so-ee paa-ay je vichahu aap gavaa-ay. ||3||
Only that person can find the path to freedom from vices, who eradicates his self-conceit from within. ||3||
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਿਵ ਘਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਸਕਤਿ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
gur parsaadee siv ghar jammai vichahu sakat gavaa-ay.
By the Guru’s grace, one dispels the influence of materialism, and leads a spiritual life by remaining absorbed in remembering God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਜੰਮ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਨਵਾਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਅਚਰੁ ਚਰੈ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਏ ਪੁਰਖੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪॥
achar charai bibayk buDh paa-ay purkhai purakh milaa-ay. ||4||
Such a person brings his stubborn mind under control, acquires discerning intellect and thus, the Guru unites that person with God.||4||
ਐਸਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਮੋੜ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਚੰਗੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਪਰਖ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ-ਪੁਰਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਧਾਤੁਰ ਬਾਜੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਅਚੇਤੁ ਹੈ ਚਲੈ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
Dhaatur baajee sansaar achayt hai chalai mool gavaa-ay.
This world is perishable like a passing show, but people are unaware about it and they depart from here losing their spiritual wealth for this game.
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਖੇਡ (ਹੀ) ਹੈ। (ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਮੂਰਖ ਹੈ (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਖੇਡ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ) ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥੫॥
laahaa har satsangat paa-ee-ai karmee palai paa-ay. ||5||
It is only by God’s grace that one joins the holy congregation, and in that congregation he reaps the benefits of remembering God’s Name. ||5||
ਨਫ਼ਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਨਫ਼ਾ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ) ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਨਫ਼ਾ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
satgur vin kinai na paa-i-aa man vaykhhu ridai beechaar.
O’ my friends, reflect in your mind and heart and judge for yourself that no one has ever realized God without following the Guru’s teachings.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ, ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੬॥
vadbhaagee gur paa-i-aa bhavjal utray paar. ||6||
With great fortune, those who found the Guru and followed his teachings, they crossed over the world-ocean of vices. ||6||
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ) ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ ॥੬॥
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
har naamaaN har tayk hai har har naam aDhaar.
God’s Name is my only support and God’s Name is my mainstay.
(ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤਾਂ) ਹਰੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਾਵਉ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੭॥
kirpaa karahu gur maylhu har jee-o paava-o mokh du-aar. ||7||
O’ God, bestow mercy and unite me with the Guru so that I may find the way to freedom from the love for Maya and vices. ||7||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੋ, (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਓ, ਤਾਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਾ) ਰਸਤਾ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਾਂ ॥੭॥
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਲਾਟਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਮੇਟਣਾ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
mastak lilaat likhi-aa Dhur thaakur maytnaa na jaa-ay.
Those who have the preordained destiny to unite with the Guru and to follow his teachings, their destiny cannot be erased by anyone.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਲੇਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਇ ॥੮॥੧॥
naanak say jan pooran ho-ay jin har bhaanaa bhaa-ay. ||8||1||
O’ Nanak, those whom the will of God is pleasing, their spiritual life became totally perfect. ||8||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਗਏ ॥੮॥੧॥

Raag Malaar, Third Guru:
ਬੇਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਗੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਕਰੇ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
bayd banee jag varatdaa tarai gun karay beechaar.
People remain engaged in rituals as the brahmin’s interpretation of the Vedas and keep contemplating the three impulses of Maya (vice, virtue and power).
ਜਗਤ (ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ) ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ (ਹੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜਮ ਡੰਡੁ ਸਹੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥
bin naavai jam dand sahai mar janmai vaaro vaar.
Without the remembrance of God’s Name, they endure the fear of death and remain in the cycle of spiritual birth and death.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜਗਤ) ਜਮਦੂਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੧॥
satgur bhaytay mukat ho-ay paa-ay mokh du-aar. ||1||
One who follows the Guru’s teachings, he attains freedom from the love for Maya and finds a way to liberation from vices. ||1||
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
man ray satgur sayv samaa-ay.
O’ my mind, follow the Guru’s teachings and remain absorbed in God’s Name.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ) ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹੁ।
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
vadai bhaag gur pooraa paa-i-aa har har naam Dhi-aa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By a great fortune, the one who met and followed the Guru’s teachings, he always keeps remembering God’s Name with adoration. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
har aapnai bhaanai sarisat upaa-ee har aapay day-ay aDhaar.
God has created this universe in His will, and He Himself provides sustenance to the beings.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਸਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
har aapnai bhaanai man nirmal kee-aa har si-o laagaa pi-aar.
One whose mind God has purified by His own will, developed love for God.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
har kai bhaanai satgur bhayti-aa sabh janam savaaranhaar. ||2||
By the will of God, he met and followed the teachings of the true Guru, the embellisher of the entire life of a person.||2||
ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਬਣਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ (ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ॥੨॥
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਤਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
vaahu vaahu banee sat hai gurmukh boojhai ko-ay.
By following the Guru’s teachings, only a rare person understands that the amazing word of God’s praises is everlasting.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
vaahu vaahu kar parabh salaahee-ai tis jayvad avar na ko-ay.
We should keep on praising God by saying, “how wonderful is He” again and again; there is no one equal to Him.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ‘ਅਸਚਰਜ ਹੈ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਹੈ’-ਇਹ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
aapay bakhsay mayl la-ay karam paraapat ho-ay. ||3||
On His own He forgives a person and unites with Himself, but this union is attained by His grace alone. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮਾਹਰੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥
saachaa saahib maahro satgur dee-aa dikhaa-ay.
The eternal God is the supreme master of the universe, that person whom the true Guru has made to experience this,
ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ (ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਹੈ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਐ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
amrit varsai man santokhee-ai sach rahai liv laa-ay.
gets such bliss as if a rain of ambrosial nectar is falling on his mind, his mind becomes content and he remains focused on God’s Name.
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਸੁਕੈ ਨਾ ਕੁਮਲਾਇ ॥੪॥
har kai naa-ay sadaa haree-aavalee fir sukai naa kumlaa-ay. ||4||
By remembering God’s Name, his spiritual life always remains blossomed and it neither withers, nor dries up. ||4||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ (-ਜਲ) ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀ-ਭਰੀ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੀ) ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਕਦੇ ਸੁੱਕਦੀ ਹੈ (ਨਾਹ ਕਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜਦੀ ਹੈ) ਨਾਹ ਕਦੇ ਕੁਮਲਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਨਾਹ ਕਦੇ ਡੋਲਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੪॥
