ਮਨਿ ਫੇਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਗੀਆ ॥
man fayrtay har sang sangee-aa.
in their heart, become permanent companions of God.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਫੇਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਥੀਆ ॥੨॥੧॥੨੩॥
jan naanak pari-o pareetam thee-aa. ||2||1||23||
O’ Nanak, God becomes their beloved. ||2||1||23||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥੨੩॥

Raag Malaar, Fifth Guru:
ਮਨੁ ਘਨੈ ਭ੍ਰਮੈ ਬਨੈ ॥
man ghanai bharmai banai.
The human mind keeps wandering in the dense forest-like world.
(ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਰੂਪ) ਸੰਘਣੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਮਕਿ ਤਰਸਿ ਚਾਲੈ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਬੇ ਕੀ ਚਾਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
umak taras chaalai. parabh milbay kee chaah. ||1|| rahaa-o.
When the desire to realize God arises in the mind, then it eagerly joins the company of saints. ||1||Pause||
ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ (ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ਤਦੋਂ ਇਹ) ਉਮਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਚਾਲ) ਚੱਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਨ ਮਾਈ ਮੋਹਿ ਆਈ ਕਹੰਉ ਬੇਦਨ ਕਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
tarai gun maa-ee mohi aa-ee kahaN-o baydan kaahi. ||1||
The three modes Maya (vice, virtue and power) entices me; I wonder to whom (other than the Guru) may I describe this affliction.||1||
ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ (ਭੀ) ਹੱਲਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਮੈਂ (ਹੋਰ) ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਤਕਲਫ਼ਿ ਦੱਸਾਂ? ॥੧॥
ਆਨ ਉਪਾਵ ਸਗਰ ਕੀਏ ਨਹਿ ਦੂਖ ਸਾਕਹਿ ਲਾਹਿ ॥
aan upaav sagar kee-ay neh dookh saakeh laahi.
Other than coming to the Guru’s refuge, I tried all means to fight such enticements, but none could remove my afflictions.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਹੀਲੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਮਿਲ ਰਹੇ) ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਭਜੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਮਿਲੁ ਗੁਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹਿ ਗਾਹਿ ॥੨॥੨॥੨੪॥
bhaj saran saaDhoo naankaa mil gun gobindeh gaahi. ||2||2||24||
O’ Nanak, stay in the Guru’s refuge, and immerse in the singing of glorious praises of God. ||2||2||24||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ, ਅਤੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚੁੱਭੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹੁ ॥੨॥੨॥੨੪॥

Raag Malaar, Fifth Guru:
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਕੀ ਸੋਭ ਸੁਹਾਵਨੀ ਨੀਕੀ ॥
pari-a kee sobh suhaavanee neekee.
The glory of beloved God is sublime and comforting to the heart,
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ) ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਾਹਾ ਹੂਹੂ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਅਪਸਰਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਰਸ ਗਾਵਨੀ ਨੀਕੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
haahaa hoohoo ganDharab apsaraa anand mangal ras gaavnee neekee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
(as if) Haaha, Hoohoo, Gandharvas and the charming heavenly fairies were melodiously singing God’s praises creating happiness and comfort.||1||Pause||
(ਮਾਨੋ) ਹਾਹਾ ਹੂਹੂ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ (ਮਿਲ ਕੇ) ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ, ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ, ਰਸ-ਭਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਧੁਨਿਤ ਲਲਿਤ ਗੁਨਗ੍ਹ ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਰੂਪ ਦਿਖਾਵਨੀ ਨੀਕੀ ॥੧॥
Dhunit lalit gun-ga-y anik bhaaNt baho biDh roop dikhaavanee neekee. ||1||
O’ my friends, it is delightful to hear the accomplished singers sing God’s praises in numerous, melodious tunes and show their skills in many different forms. ||1||
(ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ) ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਨੋ, ਸੰਗੀਤ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣੀ-ਗਿਆਨੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਸੁਰਾਂ (ਗਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ) ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ (ਨਾਟਕੀ) ਰੂਪ ਵਿਖਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਗਿਰਿ ਤਰ ਥਲ ਜਲ ਭਵਨ ਭਰਪੁਰਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਲਾਲਨ ਛਾਵਨੀ ਨੀਕੀ ॥
gir tar thal jal bhavan bharpur ghat ghat laalan chhaavnee neekee.
The grandeur of beloved God’s love is totally pervading everywhere, in all mountains, trees, lands and waters and every human body.
(ਉਹ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਪਹਾੜ, ਰੁੱਖ, ਧਰਤੀ, ਪਾਣੀ, ਚੌਦਾਂ ਭਵਨ (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ। ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲਾਲ ਦਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਮਈਆ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਨੀਕੀ ॥੨॥੩॥੨੫॥
saaDhsang raam-ee-aa ras paa-i-o naanak jaa kai bhaavnee neekee. ||2||3||25||
O’ Nanak, the human being who has a true and sincere devotion to God’s Name, visualizes Him by staying in the congregation of God’s devotees. ||2||3||25||
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਗੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਉਪਜਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿੱਕ ਕੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ (ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੩॥੨੫॥

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur pareet pi-aaray charan kamal rid antar Dhaaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Through the love and blessings of the Guru, I have enshrined the immaculate Name of God in my heart. ||1||Pause||
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦਰਸੁ ਸਫਲਿਓ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਗਏ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗਏ ॥
daras safli-o daras paykhi-o ga-ay kilbikh ga-ay.
The Guru’s blessed vision is always fruitful, so much so that anyone who meets the Guru, visualizes God in him and all his sins get dispelled.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ (ਸਦਾ) ਫਲਦਾਈ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭੀ) ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਉਜੀਆਰੇ ॥੧॥
man nirmal ujee-aaray. ||1||
The mind of such a human being becomes immaculate and gets spiritually enlightened. ||1||
(ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਬਿਸਮ ਬਿਸਮੈ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਈ ॥
bisam bismai bisam bha-ee.
O’ my friends, I am wonderstruck, stunned and amazed,
ਅਸਚਰਜ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਘ ਕੋਟਿ ਹਰਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਲਈ ॥
agh kot hartay naam la-ee.
that by remembering God’s Name with devotion, millions of one’s sins are dispelled.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਮਸਤਕੁ ਡਾਰਿ ਪਹੀ ॥
gur charan mastak daar pahee.
Those human beings who bow down and surrender themselves to the Guru,
(ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੱਥਾ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਢਹਿ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕ ਤੂੰਹੀ ਏਕ ਤੁਹੀ ॥
parabh ayk tooNhee ayk tuhee.
O’ God, You and only You are their support.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਭਗਤ ਟੇਕ ਤੁਹਾਰੇ ॥
bhagat tayk tuhaaray.
Your devotees are dependent on Your support alone,
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ) ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ,
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੨॥੪॥੨੬॥
jan naanak saran du-aaray. ||2||4||26||
O’ Nanak, the devotees remain in your refuge. ||2||4||26||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੪॥੨੬॥

ਬਰਸੁ ਸਰਸੁ ਆਗਿਆ ॥
baras saras aagi-aa.
O’ Guru, in God’s will, happily bless us with showers of God’s immaculate Name.
(ਹੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਗੁਰੂ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ (ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦੀ) ਵਰਖਾ ਕਰ।
ਹੋਹਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਸਗਲ ਭਾਗ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hohi aanand sagal bhaag. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Those who are blessed with Naam, enjoy the spiritual bliss and good fortunes. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਇਹ ਵਰਖਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਗ (ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗੇ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਫੜੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੇਘ ਧਰ ਸੁਹਾਗ ॥੧॥
sant sangay man parfarhai mil maygh Dhar suhaag. ||1||
O’ my friends, just as with the falling of rain, the earth blossoms, similarly the mind of a human being is refreshed in the company of saintly persons. ||1||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬੱਦਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਟਹਿਕ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਘਨਘੋਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮੋਰ ॥
ghanghor pareet mor.
Just as a peacock’s love is with the thunder of the rain-clouds,
(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਮੋਰ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਬੱਦਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਰਜ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ,
ਚਿਤੁ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਓਰ ॥
chit chaatrik boond or.
and the mind of a pied cuckoo keeps turning to the rain-drop,
(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਪਪੀਹੇ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ (ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀ) ਬੂੰਦ ਵਲ (ਪਰਤਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ),
ਐਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗੇ ਮਨ ਮੋਹ ॥
aiso har sangay man moh.
similarly, you too attune your mind to God’s Name.
ਤਿਵੇਂ (ਤੂੰ ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਜੋੜ।
ਤਿਆਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਧੋਹ ॥
ti-aag maa-i-aa Dhoh.
By following the teachings of the Guru and renouncing the deception of Maya:
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਠੱਗੀ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ:
ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਗਿਆ ॥੨॥੫॥੨੭॥
mil sant naanak jaagi-aa. ||2||5||27||
O’ Nanak, the human mind wakes up from the slumber of the allurements of worldly riches and power. ||2||5||27||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੫॥੨੭॥

ਗੁਨ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ਗਾਉ ਨੀਤ ॥
gun gopaal gaa-o neet.
O’ my friend, sing forever the glorious praises of God, the Master of the universe,
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਾਰਿ ਚੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam Dhaar cheet. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and enshrine God’s Name in your heart. ||1||Pause|
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਛੋਡਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਤਜਿ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂਆ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
chhod maan taj gumaan mil saaDhoo-aa kai sang.
O’ my friend, joining the company of holy persons, shed your self-conceit, renounce your ego,
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਾਣ ਛੱਡ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤਿਆਗ।
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਏਕ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਂਹਿ ਦੋਖ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥
har simar ayk rang mit jaaNhi dokh meet. ||1||
and get imbued in loving remembrance of God’s Name; all your attachments to vices causing sorrows will vanish. ||1||
ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ (ਰੰਗੀਜ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ। ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਐਬ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ ॥੧॥
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
paarbarahm bha-ay da-i-aal.
The supreme God becomes merciful to him,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਏ ਬਿਖੈ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥
binas ga-ay bikhai janjaal.
all his poisonous worldly entanglements perish.
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਵਿਸ਼ੇ-ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਕੈ ਚਰਨ ਲਾਗਿ ॥
saaDh janaaN kai charan laag.
Then, by humbly following the teachings of the saintly persons:
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ-
ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੀਤ ॥੨॥੬॥੨੮॥
naanak gaavai gobind neet. ||2||6||28||
O’ Nanak, he keep singing the praises of God forever. ||2||6||28||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ , ਸਦਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੬॥੨੮॥

Raag Malaar, Fifth Guru:
ਘਨੁ ਗਰਜਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਰੂਪ ॥
ghan garjat gobind roop, ||
When the Guru showers upon people with the ambrosial word of God’s Name,
(ਜਦੋਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦੀ) ਵਰਖਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਖ ਚੈਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gun gaavat sukh chain. ||1|| rahaa-o.
then they attain inner-peace and comfort by singing God’s praises. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਤਰਨ ਸਾਗਰ ਧੁਨਿ ਅਨਹਤਾ ਰਸ ਬੈਨ ॥੧॥
har charan saran taran saagar Dhun anhataa ras bain. ||1||
The Guru’s ambrosial word is like a non stop melodious tune, and the refuge of God’s Name is like a ship to cross the worldly ocean of vices. ||1||
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣਾਗਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਬਾਣੀ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਹੈ॥੧॥
ਪਥਿਕ ਪਿਆਸ ਚਿਤ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਆਤਮ ਜਲੁ ਲੈਨ ॥
pathik pi-aas chit sarovar aatam jal lain.
The mind of a traveller who is thirsty for God’s Name turns towards the ambrosial word of the Guru.
ਤਿਹਾਏ ਰਾਹੀ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਰੂਹਾਨੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ (ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦੇ) ਸਰੋਵਰ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਵਲ (ਪਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੈਨ ॥੨॥੭॥੨੯॥
har daras paraym jan naanak kar kirpaa parabh dain. ||2||7||29||
O’ Nanak, when yearning for God’s Name wells up in the minds of the devotees, then bestowing mercy, God blesses them with this gift. ||2||7||29||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਦੋਂ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ) ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੭॥੨੯॥
