ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਡੁਬਦਾ ਕਾਢਿ ਲਇਆ ॥੪॥੬॥
jan naanak ka-o parabh kirpaa Dhaaree bikh dubdaa kaadh la-i-aa. ||4||6||
God has bestowed mercy on devotee Nanak, and has rescued him from drowning in the world-ocean of vices. ||4||6||
ਸੇਵਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ॥੪॥੬॥

Raag Malaar, Fourth Guru:
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਪੀਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
gur parsaadee amrit nahee pee-aa tarisnaa bhookh na jaa-ee.
One who has never tasted the ambrosial nectar of Naam through the Guru’s grace, his cravings for Maya, the worldly riches, do not go away.
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ (ਕਦੇ) ਨਹੀਂ ਪੀਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਤ੍ਰਿਹ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ੍ ਜਲਤ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
manmukh moorhH jalat ahaNkaaree ha-umai vich dukh paa-ee.
A self-willed foolish person remains miserable and keeps enduring pains due to his egotism.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਦੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਈ ॥
aavat jaat birthaa janam gavaa-i-aa dukh laagai pachhutaa-ee.
That human being remains miserable in the cycle of birth and death, regrets and wastes his life in vain.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਮਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਜੇ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਖਾਈ ॥੧॥
jis tay upjay tiseh na cheeteh Dharig jeevan Dharig khaa-ee. ||1||
Such individuals never contemplate God who has created them; their living remains accursed and so does their food they consume. ||1||
(ਅਜਿਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਜਿਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਕਦੇ) ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਾਧਾ-ਪੀਤਾ ਭੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
paraanee gurmukh naam Dhi-aa-ee.
O’ mortal, follow the Guru’s teachings and remember God’s Name with loving devotion.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har kirpaa karay gur maylay har har naam samaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The human being on whom God bestows mercy and unites him with the Guru, always remains attuned to God’s Name. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜਨਮੁ ਭਇਆ ਹੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਲਜਾਈ ॥
manmukh janam bha-i-aa hai birthaa aavat jaat lajaa-ee.
The life of the self-willed people goes waste; they continue to be ashamed as they are caught in the cycle of birth and death.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਰਮ-ਸਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਡੂਬੇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
kaam kroDh doobay abhimaanee ha-umai vich jal jaa-ee.
Those arrogant beings remain immersed in lust and anger, and their spiritual life is consumed in ego.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿਚ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਡੁੱਬੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੜ (ਕੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੋ) ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਨ ਸਿਧਿ ਨ ਬੁਧਿ ਭਈ ਮਤਿ ਮਧਿਮ ਲੋਭ ਲਹਰਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
tin siDh na buDh bha-ee mat maDhim lobh lahar dukh paa-ee.
Such persons do not succeed in life; their intellect remains shallow, and they suffer remaining trapped in the waves of greed.
(ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ) ਸਫਲਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, (ਸਫਲਤਾ ਵਾਲੀ) ਅਕਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੋਭ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਫਸਿਆ) ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਮ ਪਕਰੇ ਬਿਲਲਾਈ ॥੨॥
gur bihoon mahaa dukh paa-i-aa jam pakray billaa-ee. ||2||
Devoid of the Guru’s teachings, a self-willed person suffers a lot of agony, and grieves in pain when seized by the demons of death. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ ਆ ਫੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਿਲਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥
har kaa naam agochar paa-i-aa gurmukh sahj subhaa-ee.
O’ my friends, the one who follows the Guru’s teachings, acquires the treasure of the unfathomable God’s Name in a state of spiritual poise.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿੱਕ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ (ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥
naam niDhaan vasi-aa ghat antar rasnaa har gun gaa-ee.
The treasure of God’s Name is enshrined in that person’s heart and he keeps singing the glorious praises of God.
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਏਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
sadaa anand rahai din raatee ayk sabad liv laa-ee.
By keeping his mind attuned to the divine word of God’s praises, he remains in a state of bliss at all times.
ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਇਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
naam padaarath sehjay paa-i-aa ih satgur kee vadi-aa-ee. ||3||
Through the spiritual poise, he enshrines the precious Name of God in his heart; this is the glory of the true Guru. ||3||
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
satgur tay har har man vasi-aa satgur ka-o sad bal jaa-ee.
I am always dedicated to the Guru, because it is by the Guru’s grace that God’s Name is enshrined in my heart.
ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਰਖਉ ਸਭੁ ਆਗੈ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ॥
man tan arap rakha-o sabh aagai gur charnee chit laa-ee.
I dedicate my mind and body to the Guru and surrender myself totally to him, and I keep my mind focused on the Guru’s teachings.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਨ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਭੇਟਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਅਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਲੈਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥
apnee kirpaa karahu gur pooray aapay laihu milaa-ee.
O’ the perfect Guru, have mercy on me, and please keep me united with yourself.
ਹੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੋ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾਈ ਰੱਖ।
ਹਮ ਲੋਹ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਵ ਬੋਹਿਥਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਈ ॥੪॥੭॥
ham loh gur naav bohithaa naanak paar langhaa-ee. ||4||7||
O’ Nanak, we are overwhelmed with vices as if we are heavy like iron, but the Guru is like a ship that can ferry us across the world-ocean of vices. ||4||7||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਰੇ ਹੋ ਚੁਕੇ) ਲੋਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਬੇੜੀ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਬੋਲਤ ਸ੍ਰੀਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੋਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har jan bolat sareeraam naamaa mil saaDhsangat har tor. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, Your devotees chant Your immaculate Name in the holy congregation. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਬਨਜਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਗਤ ਹੈ ਨਹੀ ਚੋਰ ॥੧॥
har Dhan banjahu har Dhan sanchahu jis laagat hai nahee chor. ||1||
O’ brother, you too should trade in and accumulate the wealth of God’s Name; this wealth is such that no thieves cansteal it from you.||1||
(ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਵਣਜੋ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰੋ, (ਇਹ ਧਨ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ) ਕਿ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੋਰ ਚੁਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੧॥
ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਮੋਰ ਬੋਲਤ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਘਨਿਹਰ ਕੀ ਘੋਰ ॥੨॥
chaatrik mor bolat din raatee sun ghanihar kee ghor. ||2||
Just as the rain-birds and the peacocks sing day and night upon hearing the thunder of the clouds, similarly you should keep singing God’s praises.||2||
(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਪਪੀਹੇ ਤੇ ਮੋਰ ਬੱਦਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੜਗੱਜ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ) ॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਬੋਲਤ ਹੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਮੀਨ ਪੰਖੇਰੂ ਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪਤ ਹੈ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਰ ॥੩॥
jo bolat hai marig meen pankhayroo so bin har jaapat hai nahee hor. ||3||
Even the deer, the fish and the birds sing by the power given by God and not by power given by anyone else.
ਪਸ਼ੂ ਪੰਛੀ ਮੱਛੀਆਂ ਆਦਿਕ (ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਫਿਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ, ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਡਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ) ਜੋ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਕਿਸੇ) ਹੋਰ (ਦੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਨਾਲ) ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦੇ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਗਾਈ ਛੂਟਿ ਗਇਓ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਸਭ ਸੋਰ ॥੪॥੧॥੮॥
naanak jan har keerat gaa-ee chhoot ga-i-o jam kaa sabh sor. ||4||1||8||
O’ Nanak, all of God’s devotees who started singing God’s praises, are no longer afraid of the uproar of the demons of death. ||4||1||8||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੀ ਹਰਿ-ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਜਮਦੂਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਰੌਲਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਮਦੂਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਾਹ ਰਹਿ ਗਿਆ) ॥੪॥੧॥੮॥

Malaar, Fourth Mehl:
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਬੋਲਿ ਬੋਲਿ ਖੋਜਤੇ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
raam raam bol bol khojtay badbhaagee.
O’ my friends, always utter God’s immaculate Name; very fortunate are those human beings who keep reciting God’s Name in order to seek Him.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਕਰ। ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੋ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਕੋਊ ਬਤਾਵੈ ਹਉ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਪਾਇ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har kaa panth ko-oo bataavai ha-o taa kai paa-ay laagee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I will be indebted to anyone who shows me the path to realize God. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਂ (ਤਾਂ) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਦੱਸ ਦੇਵੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਮੀਤੁ ਸਖਾਈ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
har hamaaro meet sakhaa-ee ham har si-o pareet laagee.
God is my friend, my companion, and I have imbued myself with His love.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ) ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
