ਜਿਨਿ ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਕੁਲਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਗਾਰੀ ॥
jin aisaa naam visaari-aa mayraa har har tis kai kul laagee gaaree.
One who has forsaken the Name of such a God of mine, that one’s family has been cursed.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਸਾਰੀ) ਕੁਲ ਹੀ ਗਾਲੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ
ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਕੁਲਿ ਪਰਸੂਤਿ ਨ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਧਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਹਤਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
har tis kai kul parsoot na karee-ahu tis biDhvaa kar mehtaaree. ||2||
O’ God, do not bless anyone in that person’s family with any offspring and make his mother a widow so that no one is born in that faithless household. ||2||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਉਸ (ਨਾਮ-ਹੀਣ ਬੰਦੇ) ਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਵਿਚ (ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ) ਜਨਮ ਹੀ ਨਾਹ ਦੇਵੀਂ, ਉਸ (ਨਾਮ-ਹੀਣ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਂ (ਤਾਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਕਿ ਨਾਮ-ਹੀਣ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਹੀ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ) ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਿਸੁ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
har har aan milaavhu gur saaDhoo jis ahinis har ur Dhaaree.
O’ God, please unite me with the saint Guru who keeps God’s Name enshrined in his heart at all times.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ) ਸਾਧੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਡੀਠੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਿਖੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਰਿਕੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਹਤਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
gur deethai gur kaa sikh bigsai ji-o baarik daykh mehtaaree. ||3||
Upon seeing the Guru, his devotee gets delighted just as a child is thrilled upon seeing his mother. ||3||
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਉਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬੱਚਾ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ॥੩॥
ਧਨ ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਭੀਤਿ ਕਰਾਰੀ ॥
Dhan pir kaa ik hee sang vaasaa vich ha-umai bheet karaaree.
O’ my friends, the human being and the Master-God reside together in the same place (heart), but there exists a mighty wall of ego between them.
ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ (ਹਿਰਦੇ-) ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ (ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਵਿਚ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਕਰੜੀ ਕੰਧ (ਬਣੀ ਪਈ) ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਭੀਤਿ ਤੋਰੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲੇ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
gur poorai ha-umai bheet toree jan naanak milay banvaaree. ||4||1||
O’ Nanak, the devotees who followed the Guru’s teachings, the Guru demolished the wall of their egotism and they have realized God. ||4||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ (ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਇਹ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਤੋੜ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ॥੪॥੧॥

Raag Malaar, Fourth Guru:
ਗੰਗਾ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਗੋਦਾਵਰੀ ਸਰਸੁਤੀ ਤੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਦਮੁ ਧੂਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਤਾਈ ॥
gangaa jamunaa godaavree sarsutee tay karahi udam Dhoor saaDhoo kee taa-ee.
The holy rivers such as the Ganges, Jamuna, Godaavari and Saraswati, strive for the dust of the feet of saintly persons (the dust of the feet of the saints is more sacred than even these rivers).
ਗੰਗਾ, ਜਮਨਾ, ਗੋਦਾਵਰੀ, ਸਰਸ੍ਵਤੀ (ਆਦਿਕ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਦੀਆਂ) ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਇਨ੍ਹਾ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹਨ).
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰੇ ਪਰੇ ਹਮਰੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਮਰੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੧॥
kilvikh mail bharay paray hamrai vich hamree mail saaDhoo kee Dhoor gavaa-ee. ||1||
(These rivers seem to be saying that) mortals, smeared with the filth of vices, take a cleansing bath in them, thus polluting the water, and that filth gets washed away by the dust of the saints’ feet. ||1||
ਇਹ ਨਦੀਆਂ ਆਖਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ) ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਬੜੇ ਹੋਏ (ਜੀਵ) (ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਚ (ਆ ਕੇ) ਚੁੱਭੀਆਂ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੈਲ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਸਾਡੀ ਉਹ ਮੈਲ ਸੰਤ-ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਤੀਰਥਿ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਮਜਨੁ ਨਾਈ ॥
tirath athsath majan naa-ee.
O’ my friends, singing of God’s praises and enshrining His Name is akin to bathing at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਵਿਚ (ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਆਤਮਕ) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ (ਹੀ) ਅਠਾਹਠ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਪਰੀ ਉਡਿ ਨੇਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਭ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satsangat kee Dhoor paree ud naytree sabh durmat mail gavaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
When we so attentively listen to the immaculate words of the saints, as if the dust of the feet of the congregation of saints falls in our eyes, it dispels all our evil intellect. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਉੱਡ ਕੇ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਧੂੜ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾਹਰਨਵੀ ਤਪੈ ਭਾਗੀਰਥਿ ਆਣੀ ਕੇਦਾਰੁ ਥਾਪਿਓ ਮਹਸਾਈ ॥
jaaharnavee tapai bhaageerath aanee kaydaar thaapi-o mehsaa-ee.
(Mythologically,) Bhagirath, the ascetic, brought down the Ganges from the heavens, lord Shiva established Kedarnath, a place of pilgrimage,
ਗੰਗਾ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਗੀਰਥ ਤਪੇ ਨੇ (ਸ੍ਵਰਗਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਲਿਆਂਦਾ, ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕੇਦਾਰ ਤੀਰਥ ਅਸਥਾਪਨ ਕੀਤਾ,
ਕਾਂਸੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨੁ ਚਰਾਵਤ ਗਾਊ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
kaaNsee krisan charaavat gaa-oo mil har jan sobhaa paa-ee. ||2||
and lord Krishna grazed cows in the city of Kanshi; all of these places have acquired grandeur only by associating with the devotees of God. ||2||
ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ (ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੀ ਨਗਰੀ), (ਬਿੰਦ੍ਰਾਬਨ ਜਿੱਥੇ) ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਗਾਈਆਂ ਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਤਨੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਦੇਵੀ ਥਾਪੇ ਸਭਿ ਤਿਤਨੇ ਲੋਚਹਿ ਧੂਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਤਾਈ ॥
jitnay tirath dayvee thaapay sabh titnay locheh Dhoor saaDhoo kee taa-ee.
O’ my friends, no matter how many shrines the gods had established, (as if to remain immaculate), they keep craving for the dust of the saint’s feet.
ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ ਤੀਰਥ ਅਸਥਾਪਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ (ਤੀਰਥ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧੂ ਲੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈ ॥੩॥
har kaa sant milai gur saaDhoo lai tis kee Dhoor mukh laa-ee. ||3||
Whenever a God’s saint or Guru visits these places of pilgrimage, they become sacred as if they are applying the dust saint’s feet on their foreheads. ||3||
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸੰਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਤਨੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਭ ਤਿਤਨੀ ਲੋਚੈ ਧੂਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਤਾਈ ॥
jitnee sarisat tumree mayray su-aamee sabh titnee lochai Dhoor saaDhoo kee taa-ee.
O’ my God, however vast Your creation is, everyone in this universe yearns for the dust of the feet (teachings) of the Guru.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਜਿਤਨੀ ਭੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਲਾਟਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਈ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak lilaat hovai jis likhi-aa tis saaDhoo Dhoor day har paar langhaa-ee. ||4||2||
O’ Nanak, one who is preordained, God ferries him across the world-ocean of vices by blessing him with the dust of the saint’s feet (the Guru’s teachings). ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ-ਸਾਧੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥

Raag Malaar, Fourth Guru:
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
tis jan ka-o har meeth lagaanaa jis har har kirpaa karai.
O’ my friends, one on whom God bestows mercy, loves God’s Name dearly.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਭੂਖ ਦੂਖ ਸਭਿ ਉਤਰੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਉਚਰੈ ॥੧॥
tis kee bhookh dookh sabh utrai jo har gun har uchrai. ||1||
The person who keeps on uttering God’s praises, his cravings for worldly possessions and all his sorrows get eliminated. ||1||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ (ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੧॥
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ॥
jap man har har har nistarai.
O’ my mind, always lovingly remember God’s Name, because anyone who does, swims across the world-ocean of vices.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਬਚਨ ਕਰਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur kay bachan karan sun Dhi-aavai bhav saagar paar parai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The human being who listens to and follows the Guru’s teachings, and remebers God, is carried across the world-ocean of vices. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਹਮ ਹਾਟਿ ਬਿਹਾਝੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
tis jan kay ham haat bihaajhay jis har har kirpaa karai.
O’ my friends, the devotee on whom God bestows mercy, I respect him as if I am his slave.
ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਖ਼ਰੀਦਿਆ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਭ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਹਰੈ ॥੨॥
har jan ka-o mili-aaN sukh paa-ee-ai sabh durmat mail harai. ||2||
Spiritual bliss is experienced by meeting the devotee of God, and that bliss removes the filth of evil intellect from the human being.||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ( ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਖੋਟੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਭੂਖ ਲਗਾਨੀ ਜਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਬਿਚਰੈ ॥
har jan ka-o har bhookh lagaanee jan tariptai jaa har gun bichrai.
O’ my friends, the devotee of God keeps craving for the Name of God; and upon reflecting on God’s praises, the devotee gets satiated.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਲ ਕਾ ਮੀਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਫੂਟਿ ਮਰੈ ॥੩॥
har kaa jan har jal kaa meenaa har bisrat foot marai. ||3||
God’s devotee is like a fish; just as a fish dies after being separated from water, forgetting God’s Name, the devotee spiritually deteriorates. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਇਉਂ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਮੱਛੀ ਹੈ (ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਮੱਛੀ ਤੜਫ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਸਰਿਆਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਸੋ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੈ ਜਾਨੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਧਰੈ ॥
jin ayh pareet laa-ee so jaanai kai jaanai jis man Dharai.
Either God, who has created His love in the devotee’s heart, knows its value, or the devotee, in whose heart is enshrined this love, knows about it.
ਜਿਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ) ਉਹ (ਆਪ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਾਂ (ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਆਰ) ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਤਨ ਕੀ ਭੂਖ ਟਰੈ ॥੪॥੩॥
jan naanak har daykh sukh paavai sabh tan kee bhookh tarai. ||4||3||
Devotee Nanak experiences spiritual bliss by realizing God, and with the blessings of this bliss, all the worldly cravings of his body get satisfied. ||4||3||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ) ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ (ਮਾਇਕ) ਭੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥

ਜਿਤਨੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਤਿਤਨੇ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰ ਲਿਖਾਵੈ ॥
jitnay jee-a jant parabh keenay titnay sir kaar likhaavai.
O’ my friends, as many creatures as God has created, they all come into this world after getting their worldly tasks preordained.
ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਜੰਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ (ਐਸੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ (ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਕਾਰ ਲਿਖ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਵਡਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
har jan ka-o har deenH vadaa-ee har jan har kaarai laavai. ||1||
God bestows upon His devotee the glory that keeps the devotee engaged in the task of remembering God’s Name with love and devotion. ||1||
(ਆਪਣੇ) ਭਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ॥
satgur har har naam darirh-aavai.
The true Guru firmly enshrines God’s Name in the heart of a human being.
ਗੁਰੂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਿਕਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
