O’ Nanak, one can merge in God’s Name only by following the Guru’s teachings. ||4||2||11||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨਤਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੧॥
ਮਲਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Raag Malaar, Third Guru:
ਜੀਵਤ ਮੁਕਤ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
jeevat mukat gurmatee laagay.
Those who live their life according to the Guru’s teachings, are saved from the vices even while making their living in the world.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਤ-ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦ ਜਾਗੇ ॥
har kee bhagat an-din sad jaagay.
They remain aware of the onslaught of Maya by performing God’s devotional worship at all times.
ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
satgur sayveh aap gavaa-ay.
Those who eradicate their self conceit and follow the true Guru’s teachings,
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਸਦ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
ha-o tin jan kay sad laaga-o paa-ay. ||1||
I always respect those human beings by humbly touching their feet. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥
ha-o jeevaaN sadaa har kay gun gaa-ee.
I spiritually remain alive by always singing God’s praises.
ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur kaa sabad mahmanmukh mohay mugaDh gavaar.aa ras meethaa har kai naam mukat gat paa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Guru’s word is like a sweet elixir; by remembering God’s Name, I have attained freedom from vices and the sublime spiritual state. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁਆਦਲਾ ਹੈ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ,ਅਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥
maa-i-aa moh agi-aan bubaar.
The love for materialism is darkness of ignorance (in the spiritual journey of life),
ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਹੈ, ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੋਹੇ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥
Manmukh mohe mugadh gavaar
the ignorant self-willed fools remain engrossed in this love for materialism.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧੰਧਾ ਕਰਤ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
an-din DhanDhaa karat vihaa-ay.
Their life passes away by always remaining engaged in worldly pursuits,
ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਧੰਧੇ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
mar mar jameh milai sajaa-ay. ||2||
and they receive the punishment of repeated births and deaths. ||2||
ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ-ਇਹ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
gurmukh raam naam liv laa-ee.
A Guru’s follower keeps his consciousness focused on God’s Name.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕੂੜੈ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਨਾ ਲਪਟਾਈ ॥
koorhai laalach naa laptaa-ee.
He does not get entrapped in the greed of perishable worldly riches and power.
ਉਹ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਸਦਾ।
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
jo kichh hovai sahj subhaa-ay.
Whatever happens, he accepts it as God’s will with love and spiritual poise,
(ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਇ ॥੩॥
har ras peevai rasan rasaa-ay. ||3||
and keeps on drinking and relishing the most sublime elixir of God’s Name with his tongue. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਆਦ ਲੈ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਕਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
kot maDhay kiseh bujhaa-ee.
God bestows this understanding upon a rare human being out of millions,
ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
aapay bakhsay day vadi-aa-ee.
and God Himself bestows this blessing and honor on him.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
jo Dhur mili-aa so vichhurh na jaa-ee.
One who is preordained to unite with God’s Name, does not get separated from Him.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਵਿੱਛੁੜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨॥
naanak har har naam samaa-ee. ||4||3||12||
O’ Nanak, he always remains absorbed in God’s Name. ||4||3||12||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨॥
ਮਲਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Raag Malaar, Third Guru:
ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਕਹੈ ॥
rasnaa naam sabh ko-ee kahai.
Ordinarily everyone utters God’s Name with the tongue,
(ਉਂਞ ਤਾਂ) ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਹੈ ॥
satgur sayvay taa naam lahai.
but one receives the wealth of God’s Name only when one follows the true Guru’s teachings;
ਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (-ਧਨ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਘਰਿ ਰਹੈ ॥
banDhan torhay mukat ghar rahai.
then he breaks the bonds of love with Maya and stays in that state where he remains free from vices.
ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਬਹੈ ॥੧॥
gur sabdee asthir ghar bahai. ||1||
It is through the Guru’s word that one’s mind stays within his heart in a state of spiritual stability. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਡੋਲ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਾਹੇ ਰੋਸੁ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
mayray man kaahay ros kareejai.
O’ my mind, why do you get offended with God.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ) ਗੁੱਸਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਲਾਹਾ ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਵੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
laahaa kaljug raam naam hai gurmat an-din hirdai raveejai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The real profit of human life in kalyug is God’s Name; by following the Guru’s teachings, we should always lovingly remember God in our heart. ||1||Pause||
ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਖੱਟੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਾਬੀਹਾ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥
baabeehaa khin khin billaa-ay.
just as the pied cuckoo bewails every moment for the rain drop,
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀ ਬੂੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪਪੀਹਾ ਹਰ ਖਿਨ ਤਰਲੇ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਦੇਖੇ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
bin pir daykhay neeNd na paa-ay.
likewise one cannot attain spiritual peace without realizing the Master-God,
(ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਇਹੁ ਵੇਛੋੜਾ ਸਹਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
ih vaychhorhaa sahi-aa na jaa-ay.
and cannot endure this separation from Him.
(ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਇਹ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਸਹਾਰਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾਂ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੨॥
satgur milai taaN milai subhaa-ay. ||2||
However, when one meets the true Guru and follows his teachings, then he intuitively realizes God. ||2||
ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ (ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮਹੀਣੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥
naamheen binsai dukh paa-ay.
Without Naam, one endures spiritual deterioration and misery.
ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਿਆ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
tarisnaa jali-aa bhookh na jaa-ay.
He burns in the fire of worldly desires, yet his hunger for Maya doesn’t go away.
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ-ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਇਹ) ਭੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਵਿਣੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
vin bhaagaa naam na paa-i-aa jaa-ay.
God’s Name cannot be realized without good fortune,
ਉੱਚੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਥਾਕਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
baho biDh thaakaa karam kamaa-ay. ||3||
and one gets tired performing ritualistic deeds in various ways. ||3||
ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਥਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
tarai gun banee bayd beechaar.
Those who keep reflecting only on the words written in Vedas which keep them involved in the three attributes (vice, virtue and power) of Maya,
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੀ ਵੇਦ ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮੈਲੁ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ॥
bikhi-aa mail bikhi-aa vaapaar.
their mind always remains soiled with the love for Maya, and they have made it a business of earning the worldly wealth.
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਸਦਾ ਚੰਬੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਮਾਣ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਵਪਾਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਹੋਹਿ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
mar janmeh fir hohi khu-aar.
Such human beings remain in the cycle of birth and death and continue to suffer.
(ਅਜਿਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤੁਰੀਆ ਗੁਣੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੁ ॥੪॥
gurmukh turee-aa gun ur Dhaar. ||4||
But a Guru’s follower attains and enshrines in his heart the qualities of Turya, a spiritual state of mind which is beyond the three attributes of Maya. ||4||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਗੁਣ ਉਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਾਂਹ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਗੁਰੁ ਮਾਨੈ ਮਾਨੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
gur maanai maanai sabh ko-ay.
One upon whom the Guru bestows honor, everyone respects that person.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
gur bachnee man seetal ho-ay.
With the blessings of the Guru’s word, his mind remains calm,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਹੁੰਆਂ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੇ-ਦਾਗ਼ ਸੋਭਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਭਗਤ।

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰੀ ॥
an-din har har Dhi-aa-i-o hirdai mat gurmat dookh visaaree.
One who molds his intellect according to the Guru’s teachings and always remembers God in his heart, he eradicates all his sorrows.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਮੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭ ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੂਟੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
sabh aasaa mansaa banDhan tootay har har parabh kirpaa Dhaaree. ||1||
Upon whom God bestowed mercy, all his hopes and the bonds of worldly desires got broken. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਫੁਰਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਏ ॥੧॥
ਨੈਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਤਾਰੀ ॥
nainee har har laagee taaree.
My eyes remain focused on visualizing God,
ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸਿਓ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satgur daykh mayraa man bigsi-o jan har bhayti-o banvaaree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
by following the true Guru’s teachings, my mind has blossomed in delight as if I have realized God. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂ੍ੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਬਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਲੀ (ਹਰੀ ) ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
