ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਰਣੀ ਊਤਮ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਜਗਿ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
har jan karnee ootam hai har keerat jag bisthaar. ||3||
similarly, the deeds of God’s devotees are sublime and they have spread God’s praises throughout the world. ||3||
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਖਿਲਾਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
kirpaa kirpaa kar thaakur mayray har har har ur Dhaar.
O’ my Master-God, please bestow mercy and keep Your Name enshrined in my heart.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੯
naanak satgur pooraa paa-i-aa man japi-aa naam muraar. ||4||9||
O’ Nanak, one who has found the perfect Guru, has always lovingly remembered God’s Name in his mind. ||4||9||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ॥੪॥੯॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਗਿਰਹੀ ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਉਦਾਸੀ ॥
ih man girhee ke ih man udaasee.
(O’ pundit), is this mind of yours remains entangled in family affairs or is it detached from worldly affairs?
(ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ)! ਕੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਜੰਜਾਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਅਵਰਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
ke ih man avran sadaa avinaasee.
Does this mind remain above caste or color and is it always free from spiritual death?
ਕਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ (ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਖੱਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਦਿਕ) ਵਰਨ-ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਾਂਹ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਚੰਚਲੁ ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
ke ih man chanchal ke ih man bairaagee.
Is this mind fickle and runs after materialism, or is it free from the love for it?
ਕੀ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਇਹ ਚੁਲਬੁਲਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਵਿਚ ਲਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਹੈ ?
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਮਮਤਾ ਕਿਥਹੁ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੧॥
is man ka-o mamtaa kithhu laagee. ||1||
From where did this mind get afflicted with the sense of mineness? ||1||
ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਮਤਾ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਆ ਚੰਬੜਦੀ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
pandit is man kaa karahu beechaar.
O’ pundit, reflect on the nature of this mind of yours.
ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ।
ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਪੜਹਿ ਉਠਾਵਹਿ ਭਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
avar ke bahutaa parheh uthaaveh bhaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Why do you unnecessarily burden yourself with other unnecessary studies? ||1||Pause||
ਤੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਘਣੇਰਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਫਾਇਦਾ ਬੋਝ ਚੁਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਕਰਤੈ ਲਾਈ ॥
maa-i-aa mamtaa kartai laa-ee.
The Creator Himself has attached the love for materialism to this mind.
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ (ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਚੰਬੋੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਏਹੁ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
ayhu hukam kar sarisat upaa-ee.
God has created the universe after issuing this command of love for Maya.
(ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
gur parsaadee boojhhu bhaa-ee.
O’ brother, understand this matter through the Guru’s grace,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝ,
ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥
sadaa rahhu har kee sarnaa-ee. ||2||
and remain forever in the resuge of God. ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ ॥੨॥
ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਜੋ ਤਿਹਾਂ ਗੁਣਾ ਕੀ ਪੰਡ ਉਤਾਰੈ ॥
so pandit jo tihaaN gunaa kee pand utaarai.
He alone is a real pundit who casts off his load of the three modes of Maya (vice, virtue and power),
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਸਲ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨਾ ਹੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਾਰ ਲਾਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
an-din ayko naam vakhaanai.
and always remembers God’s Name with adoration.
ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਓਹੁ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਲੇਇ ॥
satgur kee oh deekhi-aa lay-ay.
Such a pundit receives the teachings from the true Guru,
ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਸੀਸੁ ਧਰੇਇ ॥
satgur aagai sees Dharay-ay.
and totally surrenders to the true Guru (and follows his teachings).
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਰੱਖੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਸਦਾ ਅਲਗੁ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
sadaa alag rahai nirbaan.
He always remains detached and free from the worldly attachments.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
so pandit dargeh parvaan. ||3||
Such a pundit is approved and respected in God’s presence. ||3||
ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਭਨਾਂ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
sabhnaaN meh ayko ayk vakhaanai.
He (a true pundit) preaches that only one God dwells in all beings.
ਉਹ) ਇਹ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾਂ ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖੈ ਤਾਂ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
jaaN ayko vaykhai taaN ayko jaanai.
When he experiences the One (God) in all, then he realizes that One.
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪੰਡਿਤ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੋਇ ॥
jaa ka-o bakhsay maylay so-ay.
Upon whom God bestows grace, He unites that person with Himself.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥
aithai othai sadaa sukh ho-ay. ||4||
and he remains blessed with inner peace both here and hereafter. ||4||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਸਦਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋਇ ॥
kahat naanak kavan biDh karay ki-aa ko-ay.
Nanak says, in what way and what can one do, to achieve freedom from the bonds of materialism?
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ,(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਕਿਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਸੋਈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
so-ee mukat jaa ka-o kirpaa ho-ay.
Only that person attains emancipation, upon whom is God’s grace.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
an-din har gun gaavai so-ay.
he alone keeps on singing God’s praises at all tines,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਕੂਕ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥੧॥੧੦॥
saastar bayd kee fir kook na ho-ay. ||5||1||10||
and then, he does not go around loudly preaching the philosophies of Shastras and Vedas. ||5||1||10||
ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਵੇਦ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਦਾ ਹੋਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ॥੫॥੧॥੧੦॥

Raag Malaar, Third Guru:
ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥
bharam bharam jon manmukh bharmaa-ee.
The self-willed person always keeps wandering in reincarnations.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ.
ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
jamkaal maaray nit pat gavaa-ee.
He loses his honor and spiritually deteriorates so much as if the demon of death beats him every day.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਮੌਤ ਮਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਚੁਕਾਈ ॥
satgur sayvaa jam kee kaan chukaa-ee.
One who follows the true Guru’s teachings, ends his subservience to the demons of death.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਹਲੁ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
har parabh mili-aa mahal ghar paa-ee. ||1||
Such a person attains union with God and finds a place in God’s presence. ||1||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਹਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
paraanee gurmukh naam Dhi-aa-ay.
O’ mortal, follow the Guru’s teachings and always remember God’s Name with loving devotion.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਖੋਇਆ ਕਉਡੀ ਬਦਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam padaarath dubiDhaa kho-i-aa ka-udee badlai jaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who has lost this priceless human life for duality, in fact his life goes in exchange for a trifle. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ) ਜਨਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਗਵਾ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਜਨਮ ਕੌਡੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਭਾ ਹੀ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
kar kirpaa gurmukh lagai pi-aar.
By God’s mercy and the Guru’s teachings, the one who develops love for God,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੁ ॥
antar bhagat har har ur Dhaar.
devotional worship wells up within him and he enshrines God in his heart.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਵਜਲੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਲੰਘਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
bhavjal sabad langhaavanhaar.
God, capable of ferring us across the world ocean of vices, ferries him across it through the Guru’s word.
ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਦਿਸੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥੨॥
dar saachai disai sachiaar. ||2||
That person appears truthful in the eternal God ‘s presence. ||2||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਖ਼ਰੂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
baho karam karay satgur nahee paa-i-aa.
One who performs all sorts of rituals but does not follow the true Guru’s teaching,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੀਰਥ-ਜਾਤ੍ਰਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਮਿਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ,
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
bin gur bharam bhoolay baho maa-i-aa.
without the Guru’s teachings, he remains astray in the delusion of worldly entanglements.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਬਹੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਧਾਇਆ ॥
ha-umai mamtaa baho moh vaDhaa-i-aa.
He keeps multiplying his ego, possessiveness and emotional attachments.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
doojai bhaa-ay manmukh dukh paa-i-aa. ||3||
In the love of duality, the self-willed person endures misery. ||3||
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ (ਫਸ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹਾ ॥
aapay kartaa agam athaahaa.
The Creator-God Himself is inaccessible and unfathomable.
ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਖੁਦ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਲਾਹਾ ॥
gur sabdee japee-ai sach laahaa.
We should lovingly remember God through the Guru’s word, this is the everlasting benefit of human life.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ-ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਲਾਭ।
ਹਾਜਰੁ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ॥
haajar hajoor har vayparvaahaa.
The Creator-God is present everywhere, and He is not subservient to anyone.
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ-ਨਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
