ਅੰਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਵੈਰ ਵਿਰੋਧੁ ਕੋ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥
ant hovai vair viroDh ko sakai na chhadaa-i-aa.
But in the end when enmity and conflict arise (because of this wealth), no one can rescue him.
ਆਖ਼ਰ ਇਹ ਧਨ ਵੈਰ-ਵਿਰੋਧ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਛਡਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩੨॥
naanak vin naavai Dharig moh jit lag dukh paa-i-aa. ||32||
O’ Nanak, without lovingly remembering God’s Name, accuressed is the worldly love attached to which one endures sufferings. ||32||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਮੋਹ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੨॥

Shalok, Third Guru:
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਖਾਧੈ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਜਾਇ ॥
gurmukh amrit naam hai jit khaaDhai sabh bhukh jaa-ay.
For a Guru’s follower, God’s Name is the ambrosial nectar, his hunger for material things goes away by partaking it;
ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਭੋਜਨ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਖਾਣ ਨਾਲ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
tarisnaa mool na hova-ee naam vasai man aa-ay.
the desire for worldly wealth doesn’t arise at all, and God’s Name manifests in the mind.
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਤਿਤੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਲਗੈ ਤਨਿ ਧਾਇ ॥
bin naavai je hor khaanaa tit rog lagai tan Dhaa-ay.
Whatever one eats without remembering God’s Name, deeply afflicts his body with the malady of love for worldly desires.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮਬਾਝੋਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਖਾਣ-ਪੀਣ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੜਾ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਅਸਰ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਆ ਗ੍ਰਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਸ ਕਸ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਲਾਹਣਾ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
naanak ras kas sabad salaahnaa aapay la-ay milaa-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, instead of enjoying only the tasty foods, if one follows the Guru’s word and sings God’s praises, then God Himself unites that one with Him. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ, ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Third Guru:
ਜੀਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਹ ਮੇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
jee-aa andar jee-o sabad hai jit sah maylaavaa ho-ay.
The Guru’s word of God’s praises is the source of life in the human beings through which union with the Master-God happens.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ (ਜੀਵ ਦਾ) ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਜਗਿ ਆਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
bin sabdai jag aanHayr hai sabday pargat ho-ay.
Without the Guru’s word, there is darkness of spiritual ignorance in the world and the enlightenment of spiritual life manifests through the divine word.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਮੋਨੀ ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਥਕੇ ਭੇਖ ਥਕੇ ਤਨੁ ਧੋਇ ॥
pandit monee parh parh thakay bhaykh thakay tan Dho-ay.
The pandits and sages are exhausted reading holy books and also tired are those who adorne various garbs and bathe at sacred places.
ਮੁਨੀ ਤੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ (ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ) ਪੜ੍ਹ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਹਾਰ ਗਏ, ਭੇਖਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਏ,
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਦੁਖੀਏ ਚਲੇ ਰੋਇ ॥
bin sabdai kinai na paa-i-o dukhee-ay chalay ro-ay.
but without following the Guru’s word, no one has ever realized God, and they depart from here suffering and wailing.
ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਖਸਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ, ਸਭ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰੋ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਇਥੋਂ ਗਏ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
naanak nadree paa-ee-ai karam paraapat ho-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, the gift of God’s praises is received by His gracious glance; yes, it is received only through God’s mercy. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

Pauree:
ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪੁਰਖੈ ਅਤਿ ਨੇਹੁ ਬਹਿ ਮੰਦੁ ਪਕਾਇਆ ॥
istaree purkhai at nayhu bahi mand pakaa-i-aa.
If a person loves his wife a lot then sitting together, they make vicious plans for the future;
ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਚਿਤਵਨੀ ਹੀ ਚਿਤਵਦਾ ਹੈ ;
ਦਿਸਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਚਲਸੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
disdaa sabh kichh chalsee mayray parabh bhaa-i-aa.
(but they don’t understand that), the will of my God is that all that is visible shall vanish.
ਪਰ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ (ਅੱਖੀਂ) ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਿਉ ਰਹੀਐ ਥਿਰੁ ਜਗਿ ਕੋ ਕਢਹੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
ki-o rahee-ai thir jag ko kadhahu upaa-i-aa.
How can one remain forever in this world? Let someone suggest some remedy for this.
ਇਨਸਾਨ ਇਹ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ? ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਕੋਈ ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹੀ ਯੁਕਤੀ ਤਜਵੀਜ਼ ਕਰੇ।
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਥਿਰੁ ਕੰਧੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥
gur pooray kee chaakree thir kanDh sabaa-i-aa.
(The conclusion is that), by remembering God through the Guru’s teachings, all the sensory organs become stable against the vices.
(ਉਹ ਉਪਾਉ) ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਦੱਸੀ) ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ) (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਅਡੋਲ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੩੩॥
naanak bakhas milaa-i-an har naam samaa-i-aa. ||33||
O’ Nanak, whom God has united with Himself through His mercy, they remain immersed in His Name. ||33||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩੩॥

Shalok, Third Guru:
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਹੇਤੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
maa-i-aa mohi visaari-aa gur kaa bha-o hayt apaar.
Being attached to the love for Maya, the mortal forgets the fear, respect, and limitless love of the Guru;
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਅਦਬ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ (ਇਹ ਭੀ) ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ (ਕਿਤਨਾ) ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਿਆਰ (ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ);
ਲੋਭਿ ਲਹਰਿ ਸੁਧਿ ਮਤਿ ਗਈ ਸਚਿ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
lobh lahar suDh mat ga-ee sach na lagai pi-aar.
swayed by the waves of greed, his wisdom and understanding are lost and he does not embrace love for God.
ਲੋਭ-ਲਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ-ਹੋਸ਼ ਗੁੰਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
gurmukh jinaa sabad man vasai dargeh mokh du-aar.
The Guru’s followers, in whose minds abide the Guru’s word, find the path to emancipation and reach God’s presence.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
naanak aapay mayl la-ay aapay bakhsanhaar. ||1||
O’ Nanak, the forgiving God Himself unites them with Him. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Fourth Guru:
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਜੀਵਣਾ ਵਿਸਰੇ ਸਰੈ ਨ ਬਿੰਦ ॥
naanak jis bin gharhee na jeevnaa visray sarai na bind.
O’ Nanak, God, without whom we cannot spiritually survive even for a moment and forgetting whom we cannot accomplish anything;
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ – ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਭੀ ਜੀਊ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੀਦਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਭੀ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਿੱਭਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਕਿਉ ਮਨ ਰੂਸੀਐ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਚਿੰਦ ॥੨॥
tis si-o ki-o man roosee-ai jisahi hamaaree chind. ||2||
O’ my mind, why should we be annoyed with God who always has our welfare in His mind? ||2||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਾਡਾ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਰੁੱਸਣਾ ਠੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੨॥

Fourth Guru:
ਸਾਵਣੁ ਆਇਆ ਝਿਮਝਿਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
saavan aa-i-aa jhimjhimaa har gurmukh naam Dhi-aa-ay.
A Guru’s follower who lovingly remembers God’s Name, experiences non stop grace of God as if Saawan, the month of continuous rain, has arrived.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵਰ੍ਹਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਵਣ (ਦਾ ਮਹੀਨਾ) ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਕਾੜਾ ਸਭੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਸੀ ਮੀਹੁ ਵੁਠਾ ਛਹਬਰ ਲਾਇ ॥
dukh bhukh kaarhaa sabh chukaa-isee meehu vuthaa chhahbar laa-ay.
When the rain of God’s grace falls in torrents, it ends all the sufferings, hunger for worldly desires and anxiety.
ਜਦੋਂ ਝੜੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਮੀਂਹ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਘੁੰਮਾ ਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਭੁੱਖਾਂ ਸਭ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਭ ਧਰਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੀ ਅੰਨੁ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਬੋਹਲ ਲਾਇ ॥
sabh Dharat bha-ee haree-aavalee ann jammi-aa bohal laa-ay.
The entire body becomes spiritually rejuvenated, and Naam, the food for spiritual advancement, grows in abundance.
,ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਹਰਿਆਉਲ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਢੇਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਢੇਰ ਅੰਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਹਰਿ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਵੈ ਥਾਇ ॥
har achint bulaavai kirpaa kar har aapay paavai thaa-ay.
Bestowing mercy, the carefree God calls the Guru’s follower close to Himself and approves his effort.
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਹੁ ਜੁ ਅੰਤੇ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥
har tiseh Dhi-aavahu sant janhu jo antay la-ay chhadaa-ay.
O’ saintly people, lovingly remember God who in the end gets us liberated (from these sufferings and hunger for worldly desires).
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੋ ਜੋ ਆਖ਼ਰ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਭੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਿਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
har keerat bhagat anand hai sadaa sukh vasai man aa-ay.
The true bliss lies in the devotional worship and singing praises of God, due to which peace comes to dwell in the mind forever.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤੇ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਅਸਲ) ਆਨੰਦ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
jinHaa gurmukh naam araaDhi-aa tinaa dukh bhukh leh jaa-ay.
Those Guru’s followers who remembered God’s Name with adoration, all their sorrows and yearning for the worldly desires goes away.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੩॥
jan naanak tariptai gaa-ay gun har darsan dayh subhaa-ay. ||3||
O’ God, devotee Nanak gets satiated by singing Your praises; bestowing mercy, please grant Your blessed vision. ||3||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਹੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੈ , ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੇਹ ॥੩॥

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਨਿਤ ਦੇਵੈ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਈਆ ॥
gur pooray kee daat nit dayvai charhai savaa-ee-aa.
The bounty of Naam, which the perfect Guru always gives, keeps multiplying.
ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਦਾਤ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਵਧਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਤੁਸਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਨ ਛਪੈ ਛਪਾਈਆ ॥
tus dayvai aap da-i-aal na chhapai chhapaa-ee-aa.
Becoming pleased, the merciful God Himself gives this gift of Naam and it cannot be concealed even if one tries to hide it.
ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ ਦਿਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਲੁਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਵਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਉਨਮਨਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈਆ ॥
hirdai kaval pargaas unman liv laa-ee-aa.
(One who receives it), he becomes so delighted as if the lotus of his heart is in bloom and his mind remains absorbed in the state of supreme bliss.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ ਕਉਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਰੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰੀਸ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਾਈ ਪਾਈਆ ॥
jay ko karay us dee rees sir chhaa-ee paa-ee-aa.
and anybody who tries to compete with him, gets badly disgraced.
ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਮੋਸ਼ੀ ਹੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਪੜਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਕਈ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ॥੩੪॥
naanak aparh ko-ay na sak-ee pooray satgur kee vadi-aa-ee-aa. ||34||
O’ Nanak, no one can equate the honor given by the perfect true Guru. ||34||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੩੪॥
