naanak daas daras parabh jaachai man tan ko aaDhaar. ||2||78||101||
O’ God, Nanak, Your devotee begs for Your blessed vision, this is the support of his mind and body. ||2||78||101||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰਾ) ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ (ਇਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੭੮॥੧੦੧॥

Raag Saarang, Fifth Guru:
ਮੈਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
mailaa har kay naam bin jee-o.
O’ brother, without remembering God’s Name, one remains polluted with vices.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਲੀਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਬਿਖੈ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਪੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tin parabh saachai aap bhulaa-i-aa bikhai thag-uree pee-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The eternal God Himself created the way of materialism, based on his deeds, one remains astray and keep drinking the poisonous potion of vices. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਠਗ-ਬੂਟੀ (ਘੋਟ ਘੋਟ ਕੇ) ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੌ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਂਤੀ ਥਿਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਤਹੂ ਪਾਈ ॥
kot janam bharmatou baho bhaaNtee thit nahee kathoo paa-ee.
Even after wandering through millions of births in many ways, a human being does not come out of this cycle to find spiritual stability anywhere.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ (ਇਸ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਖੁਲੀਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।
ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
pooraa satgur sahj na bhayti-aa saakat aavai jaa-ee. ||1||
He does not get to meet the perfect Guru who could help him attain a state of spiritual poise; a faithless cynic remains in the cycle of birth and death. ||1||
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ (ਅਪੜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ; ਸਾਕਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਿਥ ਦਾਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
raakh layho parabh sammrith daatay tum parabh agam apaar.
O’ the all-powerful God and benefactor, for us You are the inaccessible and infinite God, please protect us.
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈਂ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਉਤਰਿਓ ਪਾਰ ॥੨॥੭੯॥੧੦੨॥
naanak daas tayree sarnaa-ee bhavjal utri-o paar. ||2||79||102||
O’ Nanak, any devotee who seeks Your refuge, crosses over the dreadful world-ocean of vices. ||2||79||102||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੇਰਾ) ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੭੯॥੧੦੨॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਰਮਣ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਾਦ ॥
raman ka-o raam kay gun baad.
Reciting God’s praises is (the sublime way of) His remembrance.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਨ (ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਦਾਤ) ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਦ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaDhsang Dhi-aa-ee-ai parmaysar amrit jaa kay su-aad. ||1|| rahaa-o.
That supreme God whose virtues are spiritually rejuvenating, we should lovingly remember Him in the company of saints. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਧਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਏਕੁ ਅਚੁਤ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਾਦ ॥
simrat ayk achut abhinaasee binsay maa-i-aa maad.
By lovingly remembering the eternal God, one’s pride of materialism vanishes,
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਹਜ ਅਨਦ ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਭਏ ਬਿਖਾਦ ॥੧॥
sahj anad anhad Dhun banee bahur na bha-ay bikhaad. ||1||
a nonstop divine melody starts playing within, bliss of spiritual poise arises and one is not affected ever again by sorrows and conflicts. ||1||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੱਬੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਰੌ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਠਾਉਂਦਾ। ॥੧॥
ਸਨਕਾਦਿਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿਕ ਗਾਵਤ ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਕ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ॥
sankaadik barahmaadik gaavat gaavat suk par-hilaad.
The god Brahma and his four sons (Sanak, Sanatan, Sanandan, Sant), keep singing God’s praises; sages like Sukk and Prehlad also sing God’s praises.
ਸਨਕ ਆਦਿਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਾਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇਵਤੇ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ) ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੁਕਦੇਵ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਭਗਤ ਆਦਿਕ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੀਵਤ ਅਮਿਉ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥੨॥੮੦॥੧੦੩॥
peevat ami-o manohar har ras jap naanak har bismaad. ||2||80||103||
O’ Nanak, by drinking the ambrosial nectar of captivating God’s Name and by lovingly remembering Him, one remains in a state of ecstasy. ||2||80||103||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦਿਆਂ, ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਥੇ ਇਹ ਸਦਾ ਵਾਹ-ਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਮਸਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੮੦॥੧੦੩॥

ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਕੋਟ ॥
keenHay paap kay baho kot.
O’ my friends, one has committed so many sins in his life as if he has built many castles of sins around him.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਲਗਣਾਂ (ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ) ਖੜੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਨੀ ਥਕਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਤਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਛੋਟ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dinas rainee thakat naahee kateh naahee chhot. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Day or night, he does not get tired of committing sins and he cannot find release from these sins anywhere. ||1||Pause||
ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ) ਥੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ) ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ (ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਇਸ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਹਾ ਬਜਰ ਬਿਖ ਬਿਆਧੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਉਠਾਈ ਪੋਟ ॥
mahaa bajar bikh bi-aaDhee sir uthaa-ee pot.
One commits so many sins as if he is carrying on his head a bundle of severe and deadly diseases, the cause of spiritual deterioration.
(ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬੜੇ ਕਰੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੋਟਲੀ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਘਰਿ ਗਈਆਂ ਖਿਨਹਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਜਮਹਿ ਗ੍ਰਾਸੇ ਝੋਟ ॥੧॥
ughar ga-ee-aaN khineh bheetar jameh garaasay jhot. ||1||
But when the demon of death grabs him by the hair, his eyes get wide open and he becomes aware of his sins. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ ਜਮਾਂ ਨੇ (ਆ ਕੇ) ਕੇਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਫੜ ਲਿਆ, ਤਦੋਂ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਉਘੜ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਪਸੁ ਪਰੇਤ ਉਸਟ ਗਰਧਭ ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨੀ ਲੇਟ ॥
pas parayt usat garDhabh anik jonee layt.
(Because of these sins), one suffers through innumerable incarnations like beasts, ghosts, camels and donkeys.
(ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਜੀਵ ਪਸ਼ੂ, ਪ੍ਰੇਤ, ਊਂਠ, ਖੋਤਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੁਲਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਜੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਫੇਟ ॥੨॥੮੧॥੧੦੪॥
bhaj saaDhsang gobind naanak kachh na laagai fayt. ||2||81||104||
O, Nanak, lovingly remember God’s Name in the holy congregation, and you would never be tormented by the demons (fear) of death. ||2||81||104||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਫਿਰ (ਜਮਾਂ ਦੀ) ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਚੋਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗੇਗੀ ॥੨॥੮੧॥੧੦੪॥

ਅੰਧੇ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਸੂ ਕੇ ਗਟਾਕ ॥
anDhay khaaveh bisoo kay gataak.
The human beings who are blinded by their attachments to materialism, are happy to eat only the substances that bring spiritual deterioration,
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਚੁਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੀ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨੈਨ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਹੁਟਿਓ ਸਾਸੁ ਗਇਓ ਤਤ ਘਾਟ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nain sarvan sareer sabh huti-o saas ga-i-o tat ghaat. ||1|| rahaa-o.
their eyes, ears and other organs of the body stop functioning properly; finally even their breath looses it vitality. ||1||Pause||
ਅੱਖਾਂ, ਕੰਨ, ਸਰੀਰ-ਹਰੇਕ ਅੰਗ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨੋਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਸਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਲ ਭੀ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਘਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਨਾਥ ਰਞਾਣਿ ਉਦਰੁ ਲੇ ਪੋਖਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਗਈਆ ਹਾਟਿ ॥
anaath ranjan udar lay pokheh maa-i-aa ga-ee-aa haat.
(Those blinded in the love for materialism) survive on the sufferings of the helpless people, but in the end even the Maya abandons them.
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਚੁਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੇਟ ਪਾਲਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਮੌਤ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ) ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਭੀ ਸਾਥ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਰਤ ਕਰਤ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਹਿ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਸਾਕਹਿ ਛਾਂਟਿ ॥੧॥
kilbikh karat karat pachhutaavahi kabahu na saakeh chhaaNt. ||1||
They repent while committing sins, but can never give it up. ||1||
ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਹ ਪਛਤਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪਰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਛੱਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੧॥
ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਜਮਦੂਤੀ ਆਇ ਸੰਘਾਰਿਓ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਮੂੰਡ ਉਪਰਿ ਮਟਾਕ ॥
nindak jamdootee aa-ay sanghaari-o dayveh moond upar mataak.
At last the demons of death get hold of the slanderer and torment him as if they beat him to death by hitting him on the head.
ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਫੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ (ਮੌਤ ਦੀ) ਚੋਟ ਆ ਚਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਨ ਕਟਾਰੀ ਆਪਸ ਕਉ ਲਾਈ ਮਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੀਨੋ ਫਾਟ ॥੨॥੮੨॥੧੦੫॥
naanak aapan kataaree aapas ka-o laa-ee man apnaa keeno faat. ||2||82||105||
O’ Nanak, all his life the slanderer is spiritually harming himself as if wielding his knife on himself and afflicting the wounds on his own mind. ||2||82||105||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ) ਨਿੰਦਕ ਆਪਣੀ ਛੁਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੀ ਚਲਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੮੨॥੧੦੫॥

ਟੂਟੀ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੀ ਅਧ ਬੀਚ ॥
tootee nindak kee aDh beech.
The life of a slanderer is cut short in the middle (ends without achieving life’s objective),
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨਿਸਫਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬੇਮੁਖ ਕਉ ਆਇ ਪਹੂਚੀ ਮੀਚ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jan kaa raakhaa aap su-aamee baymukh ka-o aa-ay pahoochee meech. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God Himself is the protector of His humble devotees, but one who turns away from the holy people, suffers spiritual demise. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਉਸ ਕਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸੁਣਈ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਬੈਸਣੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
us kaa kahi-aa ko-ay na sun-ee kahee na baisan paavai.
No one trusts the words of that person who slanders saints, and he finds no place of honor anywhere.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।
ਈਹਾਂ ਦੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ਨਰਕੁ ਭੁੰਚੈ ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਭਰਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
eehaaN dukh aagai narak bhunchai baho jonee bharmaavai. ||1||
The slanderer suffers here, he endures hell-like suffering in the world here-after; he wanders in many incarnations. ||1||
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,, ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਨਰਕ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ਖੰਡੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਪਣਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
pargat bha-i-aa khandee barahmandee keetaa apnaa paa-i-aa.
The slanderer of the saintly people bears the consequences of his deeds and becomes infamous across the entire world.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ (ਇਸ) ਕੀਤੇ ਦਾ (ਇਹ) ਫਲ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਨਾਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੮੩॥੧੦੬॥
naanak saran nirbha-o kartay kee anad mangal gun gaa-i-aa. ||2||83||106||
O’ Nanak, God’s devotee remains in the refuge of the fearless Creator, sings His praises and remains in spiritual bliss. ||2||83||106||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ) ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੮੩॥੧੦੬॥

The worldly desire in the human being keeps running in many different ways.
(ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
