ਛੋਡਹੁ ਕਪਟੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਰਵੈਰਾ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
chhodahu kapat ho-ay nirvairaa so parabh sang nihaaray.
By becoming enmity free, renounce deceit, because God is abiding with you and is watching all your deeds.
ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ) ਠੱਗੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਛੱਡੋ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਤੁਹਾਡੇ) ਨਾਲ (ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੁ ਧਨੁ ਵਣਜਹੁ ਸਚੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਆਵਹੁ ਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
sach Dhan vanjahu sach Dhan sanchahu kabhoo na aavhu haaray. ||1||
Trade in and amass the true wealth of God’s Name; in this way you would never lose the game of life. ||1||
ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਧਨ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰੋ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰੋ। ਕਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਗੇ ॥੧॥
ਖਾਤ ਖਰਚਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਿਖੁਟਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਗਨਤ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ॥
khaat kharchat kichh nikhutat naahee agnat bharay bhandaaray.
The countless treasures of the wealth of God’s Name are brimful, they never fall short in spite of enjoying and sharing with others.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਅਣ-ਗਿਣਤ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਵਰਤਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਤਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਘਾਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਾਵਹੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੈ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੨॥੫੭॥੮੦॥
kaho naanak sobhaa sang jaavhu paarbarahm kai du-aaray. ||2||57||80||
O’ Nanak! say, (by earning the wealth of Naam,) you would go to God’s presence with honor. ||2||57||80||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਉਗੇ ॥੨॥੫੭॥੮੦॥

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਵਨੁ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
parabh jee mohi kavan anaath bichaaraa.
O dear God, what kind of masterless and helpless person am I?
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਨਿਖਸਮਾ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਬਲ ਹਾਂ?
ਕਵਨ ਮੂਲ ਤੇ ਮਾਨੁਖੁ ਕਰਿਆ ਇਹੁ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਤੁਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kavan mool tay maanukh kari-aa ih partaap tuhaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
It is Your grandeur that from such a lowly origin (semen and egg), You turned me into a human being. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿਸ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ (ਇਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਤੋਂ) ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਇਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਤਾਪ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਸਰਬ ਕੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਕਹੇ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
jee-a paraan sarab kay daatay gun kahay na jaahi apaaraa.
O’ the benefactor of life, breath and all material things, Your infinite virtues cannot be described.
ਹੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਦਾਤੇ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹਨ, ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਸਭ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕ ਸਰਬ ਘਟਾਂ ਆਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
sabh kay pareetam sarab partipaalak sarab ghataaN aaDhaaraa. ||1||
O’ the beloved Master and the Cherisher of all, You are the support of all. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਹੇ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਆਪਹਿ ਏਕ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
ko-ay na jaanai tumree gat mit aapeh ayk pasaaraa.
O’ God, nobody can know Your state or extent, because You alone created the entire expanse of the world.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ-ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਇਸ ਜਗਤ-ਖਿਲਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਖਿਲਾਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਾਧ ਨਾਵ ਬੈਠਾਵਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਾ ॥੨॥੫੮॥੮੧॥
saaDh naav baithaavahu naanak bhav saagar paar utaaraa. ||2||58||81||
O Nanak, say, O’ God! bless me the company of the saints; so that I may cross over the world-ocean of vices. ||2||58||81||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ,ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਰਖ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਵਾਂ ॥੨॥੫੮॥੮੧॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ਸਰਣਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
aavai raam saran vadbhaagee.
Only a very fortunate person comes to God’s refuge.
ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਏਕਸ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਅਵਰਿ ਉਪਾਵ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aykas bin kichh hor na jaanai avar upaav ti-aagee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Except for God’s support, such a person does not depend on anyone else and he abandons all other efforts. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਹੀਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ। ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀਲੇ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਆਰਾਧੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
man bach karam aaraaDhai har har saaDhsang sukh paa-i-aa.
He lovingly remembers God in thought, word and deed and by staying in the company of the Guru, he attains inner peace.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ, ਬਚਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਰਸੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
anad binod akath kathaa ras saachai sahj samaa-i-aa. ||1||
He enjoys the bliss, pleasure and the taste of the praises of the indescribable God, and intuitively merges in the eternal God. ||1||
ਉਹ ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਕੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜੋ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕੀਨੋ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
kar kirpaa jo apunaa keeno taa kee ootam banee.
Sublime are the words of that person upon whom God bestows mercy and makes him His own devotee.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ (ਸੇਵਕ) ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ-ਬਿਲਾਸ ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਸਤਰੀਐ ਜੋ ਰਾਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੨॥੫੯॥੮੨॥
saaDhsang naanak nistaree-ai jo raatay parabh nirbaanee. ||2||59||82||
O’ Nanak, we swim across the world-ocean of vices by remaining in the company of those saints who are imbued with the love of God who is detached from Maya. ||2||59||82||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਰਿਹਾਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੫੯॥੮੨॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੀ ॥
jaa tay saaDhoo saran gahee.
Since the time I have grasped on to the refuge of the Guru,
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ (ਮੈਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਇਓ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਰਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaNt sahj man bha-i-o pargaasaa birthaa kachh na rahee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
my mind is enlightened with divine knowledge, as a result tranquility and spiritual poise has welled up in it, and misery is left to bother me. ||1||pause||
(ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ-ਦਰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹੋਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਏਹ ਕਹੀ ॥
hohu kirpaal naam dayh apunaa bintee ayh kahee.
O’ God, be kind and bless me with Your Name; this is the only supplication, that I make before You.
ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਇਹੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ-‘ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼’।
ਆਨ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ਬਿਸਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਾਇਓ ਲਾਭੁ ਸਹੀ ॥੧॥
aan bi-uhaar bisray parabh simrat paa-i-o laabh sahee. ||1||
While lovingly remembering God, I have forgotten all other worldly tasks and I earned the true profit of Naam. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਮੈਂ ਅਸਲ ਖੱਟੀ ਖੱਟ ਲਈ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਹ ਤੇ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਤਹੀ ਸਮਾਨੋ ਸਾਈ ਬਸਤੁ ਅਹੀ ॥
jah tay upji-o tahee samaano saa-ee basat ahee.
Now Naam is pleasing to me and my mind remains absorbed in God from where it was created.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਉਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਇਹ (ਨਾਮ-) ਵਸਤੂ ਹੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਇਓ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਹੀ ॥੨॥੬੦॥੮੩॥
kaho naanak bharam gur kho-i-o jotee jot samhee. ||2||60||83||
O’ Nanak! say, the Guru has dispelled my doubt and my light (soul) remains merged in God’s supreme light. ||2||60||83||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ- ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੬੦॥੮੩॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਉ ॥
rasnaa raam ko jas gaa-o.
(O’ brother), sing praises of God with your tongue,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ,
ਆਨ ਸੁਆਦ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਭਲੋ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aan su-aad bisaar saglay bhalo naam su-aa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
forsake all other tastes because the taste of the Name of God is the most sublime. ||1||Pause||
ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇ, ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਸਭ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਬਸਾਇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਏਕ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਉ ॥
charan kamal basaa-ay hirdai ayk si-o liv laa-o.
Enshrining God’s immaculate Name in your heart, focus your mind on Him.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ, ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਆਉ ॥੧॥
saaDhsangat hohi nirmal bahurh jon na aa-o. ||1||
By joining the company of saints, you would become immaculate and will not wander in reincarnations any more. ||1||
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਵੇਂਗਾ ॥੧॥
ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਥਾਉ ॥
jee-o paraan aDhaar tayraa too nithaavay thaa-o.
O’ God, my body and mind depend only on Your support, You are the support of the support less.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੨॥੬੧॥੮੪॥
saas saas samHaal har har naanak sad bal jaa-o. ||2||61||84||
O’ Nanak! I lovingly remember God with each and every breath and I am always dedicated to Him. ||2||61||84||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਉਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥੬੧॥੮੪॥

ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਚਰਨ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਉ ॥
baikunth gobind charan nit Dhi-aa-o.
O’ brother, I always lovingly remember God’s immaculate Name, and for me this is heaven.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ-(ਇਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ) ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਹੈ।
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Staying in the company of the Guru is to attain the objective of emancipation for me, and God’s Name for me is the ambrosial nectar. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ-(ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ) ਮੁਕਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜਲ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਊਤਮ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣੀਜੈ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਮਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥
ootam kathaa suneejai sarvanee ma-i-aa karahu bhagvaan.
O God, bestow mercy, so that with my ears I may listen to Your sublime praises,
ਹੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, (ਤਾ ਕਿ) ਤੇਰੀ ਉੱਤਮ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਦੋਊ ਪਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥
aavat jaat do-oo pakh pooran paa-ee-ai sukh bisraam. ||1||
the process of birth and death ends (by listening to God’s praises) and one unites with God, the source of inner peace. ||1||
(ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜੰਮਣਾ ਮਰਨਾ)-ਇਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪੱਖ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
