Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਠਾਂਢੀ ॥
har kay naam kee gat thaaNdhee.
The state of mind after realization of God’s Name is very peaceful.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬੜੀ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਹੈ l
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਕਾਢੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bayd puraan simrit saaDhoo jan khojat khojat kaadhee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The saintly people have found this fact after searching and researching the Vedas, Puranas and Simritis. ||1||pause||
ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਪੁਰਾਣਾਂ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਜ ਖੋਜ ਕੇ ਇਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਲੱਭੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਿਵ ਬਿਰੰਚ ਅਰੁ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਲੋਕ ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਜਲਤੌ ਫਿਰਿਆ ॥
siv biranch ar indar lok taa meh jaltou firi-aa.
One wanders around burning up with envy even after reaching the mythological cities (spiritual elevation) of god Shiva, Brahma and Indira.
ਸ਼ਿਵ-ਲੋਕ, ਬ੍ਰਹਮ-ਲੋਕ, ਇੰਦ੍ਰ-ਲੋਕ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ) ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਭੀ ਈਰਖਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੜਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਭਏ ਸੀਤਲ ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਹਿਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
simar simar su-aamee bha-ay seetal dookh darad bharam hiri-aa. ||1||
But God’s devotees became peaceful by lovingly remembering Him and all their sorrow, pain, and doubt vanished.||1||
ਪਰ ਜੀਵ ਸੁਆਮੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ-ਮਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਉਹਨਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਰਦ ਅਤੇ ਭਰਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਤਰਿਓ ਪੁਰਾਤਨੁ ਨਵਤਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
jo jo tari-o puraatan navtan bhagat bhaa-ay har dayvaa.
Whoever has crossed over the world-ocean of vices in the past or the present, has done so through the loving devotional worship of God.
ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਸਮੇ ਦਾ ਚਾਹੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਸਮੇ ਦਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭੀ (ਭਗਤ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦੇਵ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਲੰਘਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੨॥੫੨॥੭੫॥
naanak kee baynantee parabh jee-o milai sant jan sayvaa. ||2||52||75||
O’ dear God, this is Nanak’s prayer that I may be blessed with the service of the saintly people.||2||52||75||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਇਹੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ ॥੨॥੫੨॥੭੫॥

ਜਿਹਵੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਉ ॥
jihvay amrit gun har gaa-o.
O’ my tongue, sing the ambrosial Praises of God.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਜੀਭ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰ ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਉਚਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੋ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har bol kathaa sun har kee uchrahu parabh ko naa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ mortal, talk about God’s virtues, listen to God’s praises and recite God’s Name with adoration. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਜੀਵ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਰ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਭਾਉ ॥
raam naam ratan Dhan sanchahu man tan laavhu bhaa-o.
O’ mortal, God’s Name is the precious wealth, amass it and imbue your mind and heart with His love.
ਹੇ ਜੀਵ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਧਨ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਾ।
ਆਨ ਬਿਭੂਤ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਇਹੈ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੧॥
aan bibhoot mithi-aa kar maanhu saachaa ihai su-aa-o. ||1||
Deem all other kinds of wealth as illusory, realizing God’s Name only is the real objective of human life. ||1||
(ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਸਮਝ। (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਨੋਰਥ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕਸ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਉ ॥
jee-a paraan mukat ko daataa aykas si-o liv laa-o.
God is the giver of life, breath and emancipation; focus your mind only on God.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ, ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਦੇਤ ਸਗਲ ਅਪਿਆਉ ॥੨॥੫੩॥੭੬॥
kaho naanak taa kee sarnaa-ee dayt sagal api-aa-o. ||2||53||76||
O’ Nanak! say, seek the refuge of God, the benefactor of sustenance to all. ||2||53||76||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਖਾਣ ਪੀਣ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੫੩॥੭੬॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਹੋਤੀ ਨਹੀ ਕਵਨ ਕਛੁ ਕਰਣੀ ॥
hotee nahee kavan kachh karnee.
I cannot do any good deed,
ਮੈਥੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਸੁਚੱਜਾ ਕਰਤੱਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ,
ਇਹੈ ਓਟ ਪਾਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤਹ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਏਕ ਕੀ ਸਰਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ihai ot paa-ee mil santeh gopaal ayk kee sarnee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
but meeting with the saints, I have received this advice that it is best to seek God’s refuge. ||1||pause||
ਪਰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਟੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਲੈਣੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪੰਚ ਦੋਖ ਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਇਆ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਕੀ ਕਰਣੀ ॥
panch dokh chhidar i-aa tan meh bikhai bi-aaDh kee karnee.
The five vices and other bad habits remain within this body of ours; they lead us to commit sinful and vicious deeds.
ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਐਬ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵਿਸ਼ੇ-ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਣੀ (ਜੀਵ ਦੀ) ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਆਸ ਅਪਾਰ ਦਿਨਸ ਗਣਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਗ੍ਰਸਤ ਜਾਤ ਬਲੁ ਜਰਣੀ ॥੧॥
aas apaar dinas gan raakhay garsat jaat bal jarnee. ||1||
Our hopes and desires are unlimited, but our days are numbered, and old age keeps eroding our vitality.||1||
(ਸਾਡੀਆ ) ਆਸਾਂ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਗਿਣੇ-ਮਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ। ਬੁਢੇਪਾ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰਕ) ਬਲ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅਨਾਥਹ ਨਾਥ ਦਇਆਲ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਸਰਬ ਦੋਖ ਭੈ ਹਰਣੀ ॥
anaathah naath da-i-aal sukh saagar sarab dokh bhai harnee.
O’ God, the master of the helpless, O’ the merciful God, O’ the ocean of peace and the destroyer of all vices and fears,
ਹੇ ਅਨਾਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ! ਹੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ!
ਮਨਿ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਪੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਣੀ ॥੨॥੫੪॥੭੭॥
man baaNchhat chitvat naanak daas paykh jeevaa parabh charnee. ||2||54||77||
I,Your devotee Nanak, keep thinking about my mind’s desire that I may remain spiritually alive by visualizing You and remembering Your Name. ||2||54||77||
ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ) ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੀ ਮੁਰਾਦ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੨॥੫੪॥੭੭॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਫੀਕੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਦ ॥
feekay har kay naam bin saad.
Without God’s Name, the tastes of worldly things are insipid.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸੁਆਦ ਫਿੱਕੇ ਹਨ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਈਐ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਨਾਦ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
amrit ras keertan har gaa-ee-ai ahinis pooran naad. ||1|| rahaa-o.
We should sing the ambrosial praises of God; one who sings, he feels as if divine melodies are always resonating within him. ||1||pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ, ਜੋ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸ ਹੈ, ਗਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਵਾਜੇ ਵੱਜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਖਾਦ ॥
simrat saaNt mahaa sukh paa-ee-ai mit jaahi sagal bikhaad.
By lovingly remembering God, we attain tranquility and total inner peace, and all our anxiety and sorrows vanish.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਬੜਾ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਭੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਘਰਿ ਲੈ ਆਵਹੁ ਲਾਦਿ ॥੧॥
har har laabh saaDhsang paa-ee-ai ghar lai aavhu laad. ||1||
We receive the reward of remembering God in the company of the saintly person and we enshrine it within our heart. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਲਾਭ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ) ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਖੱਟੀ ਲੱਦ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚੋ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਰਜਾਦ ॥
sabh tay ooch ooch tay oocho ant nahee marjaad.
God is higher than the highest of the high, there is no end to His status.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਦ-ਬੰਨੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਪੇਖਿ ਰਹੇ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥੨॥੫੫॥੭੮॥
baran na saaka-o naanak mahimaa paykh rahay bismaad. ||2||55||78||
O’ Nanak! I cannot describe His grandeur; gazing upon it, I am wonder-struck. ||2||55||78||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੫੫॥੭੮॥

ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
aa-i-o sunan parhan ka-o banee.
The mortal has come to this world to listen and recite the Divine word of God’s praises.
(ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਨ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ l
ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam visaar lageh an laalach birthaa janam paraanee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The life of those human beings goes in vain who forget God’s Name and remain engrossed in other worldly greed. ||1||pause||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਮਝੁ ਅਚੇਤ ਚੇਤਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਥੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥
samajh achayt chayt man mayray kathee santan akath kahaanee.
O’ my unconscious mind, become conscious and remember praises of the indescribable God which the saints has described.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਿਲ ਮਨ! ਹੋਸ਼ ਕਰ, ਅਕੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਲਾਭੁ ਲੈਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਅਰਾਧਹੁ ਛੁਟਕੈ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੧॥
laabh laihu har ridai aaraaDhahu chhutkai aavan jaanee. ||1||
Earn the profit of remembering God with your heart, the cycle of birth and death ends by doing so.||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਓ, ਇਹ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟੋ। (ਇਸ ਖੱਟੀ ਨਾਲ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਉਦਮੁ ਸਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਰੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
udam sakat si-aanap tumHree deh ta naam vakhaanee.
O’ God, all effort, power and wisdom are Yours and if You give me these, only then I can recite Your Name.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਪ (ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਵਰਤ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ), ਜੇ ਤੂੰ (ਉੱਦਮ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ) ਦੇਵੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਸੇਈ ਭਗਤ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣੀ ॥੨॥੫੬॥੭੯॥
say-ee bhagat bhagat say laagay naanak jo parabh bhaanee. ||2||56||79||
O’ Nanak, those who are pleasing to God, they alone are true devotees and they alone engage in His devotional worship. ||2||56||79||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਗਤ ਹਨ ਉਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੫੬॥੭੯॥

ਧਨਵੰਤ ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ॥
Dhanvant naam kay vanjaaray.
Those who deal in God’s Name are spiritually wealthy,
ਅਸਲ ਧਨਾਢ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕਰਹੁ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaNjhee karahu naam Dhan khaatahu gur kaa sabad veechaaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
enter into partnership with them and earn the wealth of Naam by reflecting on the Guru’s Word. ||1||pause||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਾਓ, ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਖੱਟੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
