ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੈ ਅਤੁਲ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੨॥੨੦॥੪੩॥
kaho naanak mai atul sukh paa-i-aa janam maran bhai laathay. ||2||20||43||
O’ Nanak! say, that I have found immeasurable inner peace and my fears of birth and death have been removed. ||2||20||43||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ, ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਇਤਨਾ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੋਲਿਆ-ਮਿਣਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਮੇਰੇ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਲਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੨੦॥੪੩॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਰੇ ਮੂੜ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਆਨ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਤ ਜਾਈ ॥
ray moorhHay aan kaahay kat jaa-ee.
O’ fool, why are you wandering somewhere else?
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਤੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ?
ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨੋਹਰੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਭੂਲਿ ਭੂਲਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sang manohar amrit hai ray bhool bhool bikh khaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The mind enticing ambrosial nectar of God’s Name is beside you, but you are always going astray as if you have consumed the poisonous Maya. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੂਪ, ਵਿਹੁ ਹੀ ਖਾਧੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਚਤੁਰ ਅਨੂਪ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ਤਿਸ ਸਿਉ ਰੁਚ ਨਹੀ ਰਾਈ ॥
parabh sundar chatur anoop biDhaatay tis si-o ruch nahee raa-ee.
God is beauteous, wise, the creator and beyond praise, but you have not even a bit of love for Him,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਸੁਜਾਨ ਹੈ, ਉਪਮਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈ-ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਮੋਹਨਿ ਸਿਉ ਬਾਵਰ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਝੂਠਿ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
mohan si-o baavar man mohi-o jhooth thag-uree paa-ee. ||1||
O’ fool, your mind has been enticed by the mind captivating Maya, as if you have taken the poisonous herb of falsehood. ||1||
ਹੇ ਝੱਲੇ! ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਚਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਹ ਠਗ-ਬੂਟੀ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਂਭ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਭਇਓ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
bha-i-o da-i-aal kirpaal dukh hartaa santan si-o ban aa-ee.
One upon whom the merciful God, the destroyer of sorrows, bestowed grace, he became appeased with saints:
ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਗਈ।
ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਘਰੈ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਏ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੪੪॥
sagal niDhaan gharai meh paa-ay kaho naanak jot samaa-ee. ||2||21||44||
O Nanak! say, he found all the treasures of Naam in his own heart and he merged in the Divine Light. ||2||21||44||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੱਭ ਲਏ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਸਦਾ ਲਈ) ਲੀਨਤਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੪੪॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਓਅੰ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚੀਤਿ ਪਹਿਲਰੀਆ ॥
o-aN pari-a pareet cheet pahilaree-aa.
Even though the love for the beloved God has been in my consciousness from the very beginning,
(ਉਂਞ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ) ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦੀ (ਟਿਕੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ),
ਜੋ ਤਉ ਬਚਨੁ ਦੀਓ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤਉ ਮੈ ਸਾਜ ਸੀਗਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo ta-o bachan dee-o mayray satgur ta-o mai saaj seegree-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
yet O’ my true Guru, when you blessed me with your Divine word, (that love became manifest) and I spiritually embellished my life. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰ ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਜਾਗ ਪਈ, ਤੇ) ਮੇਰਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਮ ਭੂਲਹ ਤੁਮ ਸਦਾ ਅਭੂਲਾ ਹਮ ਪਤਿਤ ਤੁਮ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਰੀਆ ॥o
ham bhoolah tum sadaa abhoolaa ham patit tum patit uDhree-aa.
O’ Guru! we always make mistakes but you are always infallible, we are sinners but you are the redeemer of the sinners.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ (ਸਦਾ) ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਅਭੁੱਲ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਰਖ ਤੁਮ ਮੈਲਾਗਰ ਲਾਜ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸਰੀਆ ॥੧॥
ham neech birakh tum mailaagar laaj sang sang basree-aa. ||1||
O’ Guru, we are like ordinary trees and you are like a sandal tree which makes the nearby trees smell like sandal, similarly you save the honor of those who abide near you and follow your teachings. ||1||
ਅਸੀਂ (ਅਰਿੰਡ ਵਰਗੇ) ਨੀਚ ਰੁੱਖ ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਚੰਦਨ ਹੈਂ, ਜੋ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਗੰਧਿਤ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
ਤੁਮ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਧੀਰ ਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਹਮ ਕਿਆ ਬਪੁਰੇ ਜੰਤਰੀਆ ॥
tum gambheer Dheer upkaaree ham ki-aa bapuray jantree-aa.
O’ Guru, you are a profound and calm benefactor; what power, we the helpless creatures have?
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਤੂੰ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਧੀਰਜ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਪਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸਾਂ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਿਓ ਤਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੂਖਿ ਸੇਜਰੀਆ ॥੨॥੨੨॥੪੫॥
gur kirpaal naanak har mayli-o ta-o mayree sookh sayjree-aa. ||2||22||45||
O’ Nanak, since the merciful Guru united me with God, my heart has become full with inner peace. ||2||22||45||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ ਕਰਾਇਆ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖ-ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨੨॥੪੫॥

ਮਨ ਓਇ ਦਿਨਸ ਧੰਨਿ ਪਰਵਾਨਾਂ ॥
man o-ay dinas Dhan parvaanaaN.
O’ my mind, blessed and approved are those days,
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਫਲ ਤੇ ਘਰੀ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਸੁਹਾਵੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਗਿਆਨਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
safal tay gharee sanjog suhaavay satgur sang gi-aanaaN. ||1|| rahaa-o.
fruitful and auspicious are those moments, when in the company of the true Guru, we receive knowledge about righteous living. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਘੜੀਆਂ ਸਫਲ ਹਨ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਲ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਸਮੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਧੰਨਿ ਸੁਭਾਗ ਧੰਨਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਾ ਧੰਨਿ ਦੇਤ ਜਿਨਿ ਮਾਨਾਂ ॥
Dhan subhaag Dhan sohaagaa Dhan dayt jin maanaaN.
O’ God, blessed and praiseworthy are those fortunate devotees, upon whom You bestow honor.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਆਦਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਧੰਨ ਹਨ, ਸੁਭਾਗ ਹਨ, ਕਿਸਮਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।
ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਰਾ ਹੀਂਉ ਕੀਓ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾਂ ॥੧॥
ih tan tumHraa sabh garihu Dhan tumHraa heeN-u kee-o kurbaanaaN. ||1||
O’ God, this body is Yours, this house and wealth is blessed by You and I dedicate my heart to You. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਘਰ ਤੇ ਧਨ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਕੋਟਿ ਲਾਖ ਰਾਜ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਪੇਖਿ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਨਾਂ ॥
kot laakh raaj sukh paa-ay ik nimakh paykh daristaanaaN.
Experiencing Your blessed vision even for a moment, I feel elated as if I have received the comforts of millions of kingdoms.
ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਉ ਕਹਹੁ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਇਹ ਬੈਸੀਐ ਸੁਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥੨॥੨੩॥੪੬॥
ja-o kahhu mukhahu sayvak ih baisee-ai sukh naanak ant na jaanaaN. ||2||23||46||
O’ Nanak! say, O’ God! I don’t know the limit of bliss I feel when You ask me to sit besides You (honor me in Your presence). ||2||23||46||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ,ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਆਖੇਂ, ਹੇ ਸੇਵਕ! ਇਥੇ ਬੈਠ, (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਤਨਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੨॥੨੩॥੪੬॥

ਅਬ ਮੋਰੋ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਗਇਆ ॥
ab moro sahsaa dookh ga-i-aa.
Now all my dread and sorrow has gone away,
ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਹਿਮ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਅਉਰ ਉਪਾਵ ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਛੋਡੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
a-or upaav sagal ti-aag chhoday satgur saran pa-i-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
because I have abandoned and forsaken all other efforts and have come to the refuge of the true Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀਲੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਰਬ ਸਿਧਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਸਵਰੇ ਅਹੰ ਰੋਗ ਸਗਲ ਹੀ ਖਇਆ ॥
sarab siDh kaaraj sabh savray ahaN rog sagal hee kha-i-aa.
I feel as if I have attained all the miraculous powers, all my tasks have been accomplished, my malady of ego has been totally eradicated,
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਰਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸੰਵਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰਾਧ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਖਉ ਭਈ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ॥੧॥
kot paraaDh khin meh kha-o bha-ee hai gur mil har har kahi-aa. ||1||
and millions of my sins vanished in an instant, when I started remembering God after meeting with the Guru. ||1||
ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਅਪਰਾਧਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੧॥
ਪੰਚ ਦਾਸ ਗੁਰਿ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਮਨ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਨਿਰਭਇਆ ॥
panch daas gur vasgat keenay man nihchal nirbha-i-aa.
Bringing them under control, the Guru has made the five vices (lust, anger, etc) as my slaves and my mind has become stable and fearless against them.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਅਹਿੱਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਆਇ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ਨ ਕਤ ਹੀ ਡੋਲੈ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਜਇਆ ॥੨॥੨੪॥੪੭॥
aa-ay na jaavai na kat hee dolai thir naanak raaja-i-aa. ||2||24||47||
O’ Nanak, now my mind neither wanders anywhere, nor it wavers against the vices, as if it has become the master of an eternal empire. ||2||24||47||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਕਿਤੇ ਦੌੜ ਭੱਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਕਿਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਡੋਲਦਾ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨੪॥੪੭॥

ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰੋ ਇਤ ਉਤ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
parabh mayro it ut sadaa sahaa-ee.
My God is my help and support both here and hereafter
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਮੋਹਨੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਕੋ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਕਵਨ ਕਹਾ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
manmohan mayray jee-a ko pi-aaro kavan kahaa gun gaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God, the enticer of my mind, is the beloved of my soul; which of His praises may I sing and describe? ||1||Pause||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਿਹੜੇ-ਕਿਹੜੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਾਂ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਖੇਲਿ ਖਿਲਾਇ ਲਾਡ ਲਾਡਾਵੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਅਨਦਾਈ ॥
khayl khilaa-ay laad laadaavai sadaa sadaa andaa-ee.
God plays with us, fondles us and He is the benefactor of bliss forever.
ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਖਿਡਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਲਾਡ ਲਡਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਜੈਸੇ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾਈ ॥੧॥
paratipaalai baarik kee ni-aa-ee jaisay maat pitaa-ee. ||1||
He cherishes us, like the father and the mother love their child. ||1||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਸਕੀਐ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਜਾਈ ॥
tis bin nimakh nahee reh sakee-ai bisar na kabhoo jaa-ee.
Without God we cannot spiritually survive even for a moment, and He can never be forgotten.
ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਰਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
