ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
say Dhanvant jin har parabh raas.
Truly rich are those people, whose wealth in life is God’s Name.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਧਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਾਸਿ ॥
kaam kroDh gur sabad naas.
Their lust and anger has been destroyed through the Guru’s divine world.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ (ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਭੈ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bhai binsay nirbhai pad paa-i-aa.
Their worldly fears have vanished and they have achieved that spiritual state where no fears become effective.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਐਸਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
gur mil naanak khasam Dhi-aa-i-aa. ||2||
Nanak has always remembered the Master-God by following the Guru’s teachings. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ (ਭੀ) ਉਸ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਓ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥
saaDhsangat parabh kee-o nivaas.
That person whom God has blessed with a place in the holy congregation,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਹੋਈ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸ ॥
har jap jap ho-ee pooran aas.
all his hopes are fulfilled by lovingly remembering God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥
jal thal mahee-al rav rahi-aa.
God is pervading throughout all the lands, waters and the sky.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ॥੩॥
gur mil naanak har har kahi-aa. ||3||
Nanak has always lovingly remembered God by following the Guru’s teachings. ||3||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ (ਭੀ) ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਅਸਟ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਏਹ ॥
asat siDh nav niDh ayh.
The eight miraculous powers of the sidhas and the world’s nine treasures are in the Name of God,
ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਸਿੱਧਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਅੱਠ ਆਤਮਕ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਹੈ (ਕੁਬੇਰ ਦੇ) ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹ ॥
karam paraapat jis naam dayh.
but upon whom God bestows grace, receives the gift of Naam.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ॥
parabh jap jap jeeveh tayray daas.
O’ God, Your devotees spiritually survive by reciting Your Name.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥੪॥੧੩॥

O’ Nanak, the heart of the devotees remains delighted like a lotus flower by remembering God through the Guru’s teachings. ||4||13||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਕੌਲ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੩॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਗਲ ਇਛਾ ਜਪਿ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ॥
sagal ichhaa jap punnee-aa.
All the wishes of those people, who have lovingly remembering God, have been fulfilled,
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ,
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ॥੧॥
parabh maylay chiree vichhunni-aa. ||1||
God has reunited those with Himself who were separated for a long time. ||1||
ਚਿਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ॥੧॥
ਤੁਮ ਰਵਹੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੈ ਰਵਣ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
tum ravhu gobindai ravan jog.
O’ friends, you should remember God, He is worthy of remembering with loving devotion,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ,
ਜਿਤੁ ਰਵਿਐ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਭੋਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jit ravi-ai sukh sahj bhog. ||1|| rahaa-o.
by lovingly remembering whom, we enjoy celestial peace and poise. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ॥
kar kirpaa nadar nihaali-aa.
Bestowing mercy, God has blessed His devotee with His gracious glance,
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ) ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਅਪਣਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲਿਆ ॥੨॥
apnaa daas aap samHaali-aa. ||2||
and has Himself taken care of His devotee. ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਆਪ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ| ॥੨॥
ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਰਸਿ ਬਨੀ ॥
sayj suhaavee ras banee.
The heart of that person has become beautiful and joyfully delighted,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਸੇਜ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਰਸ ਭਰੀ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
ਆਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਖ ਧਨੀ ॥੩॥
aa-ay milay parabh sukh Dhanee. ||3||
whom the peace giving God has revealed Himself. ||3||
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਆ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਣੁ ਅਵਗਣੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥
mayraa gun avgan na beechaari-aa.
God did not take into consideration any of my merits and demerits:
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਿਆ, ਕੋਈ ਔਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਿਆ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਰਣ ਪੂਜਾਰਿਆ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੪॥
parabh naanak charan poojaaree-aa. ||4||1||14||
O’ Nanak! God has accepted me a devoted worshipper of His Name. ||4||1||14||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੁਜਾਰੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੪॥
ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Basant, Fifth Guru:
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਨਾ ॥
kilbikh binsay gaa-ay gunaa.
All sins of a person are destroyed by singing praises of God,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਅਨਦਿਨ ਉਪਜੀ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਾ ॥੧॥
an-din upjee sahj Dhunaa. ||1||
and a melody of celestial music always keeps playing silently within him. ||1||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਰੌ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮਨੁ ਮਉਲਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
man ma-uli-o har charan sang.
Focused on God’s Name, the mind of that person blossoms,
ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਜੁੜ ਕੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਭੇਟੇ ਨਿਤ ਰਾਤੌ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirpaa saaDhoo jan bhaytay nit raatou har naam rang. ||1|| rahaa-o.
bestowing mercy, whom God leads to meet the saintly persons, and then he always remains imbued with the love of God’s Name. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨਾ ਨਾਲ਼ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ॥
kar kirpaa pargatay gopaal.
Bestowing mercy, in whose heart the Master of the universe becomes manifest,
ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੨॥
larh laa-ay uDhaaray deen da-i-aal. ||2||
the merciful Master of the meek ferries him across the worldly ocean of vices by keeping him in His presence. ||2||
ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੜ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਾਧ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
ih man ho-aa saaDh Dhoor.
That person whose mind humbly follows the Guru’s teachings,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਿਤ ਦੇਖੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥੩॥
nit daykhai su-aamee hajoor. ||3||
he visualizes the Master-God with him all the time. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਆਮੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਗਈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਈ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੫॥
kaam kroDh tarisnaa ga-ee. naanak parabh kirpaa bha-ee. ||4||2||15||
O’ Nanak, one upon whom God bestows mercy, all his vices like lust, anger and fierce worldly desires go away. ||4||2||15||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੫॥

Raag Basant, Fifth Guru:
ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟਾਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਿ ॥
rog mitaa-ay parabhoo aap.
God Himself eradicates all the afflictions of those (who seek the Gour’s refuge),
(ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਾਲਕ ਰਾਖੇ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰ ਥਾਪਿ ॥੧॥
baalak raakhay apnay kar thaap. ||1||
and He blesses and protects those children (devotees). ||1||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਥਾਪਣਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸਦ ਬਸੰਤੁ ॥
saaNt sahj garihi sad basant.
Tranquility, spiritual poise and spring-like blossom always remain in the heart of those people,
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਸਰਣੀ ਆਏ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਰੂਪ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਤੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur pooray kee sarnee aa-ay kali-aan roop jap har har mant. ||1|| rahaa-o.
who seek refuge of the perfect Guru and meditate on the bliss giving mantra of God’s Name. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੁਖ-ਸਰੂਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਕਟੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ॥
sog santaap katay parabh aap.
O’ brother! God Himself would eradicate your suffering and sorrows,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਨਗੇ।
ਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਉ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੨॥
gur apunay ka-o nit nit jaap. ||2||
you just keep reflecting on the divine word of your perfect Guru. ||2||
ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ ॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਪੇ ਨਾਉ ॥
jo jan tayraa japay naa-o.
O’ God, that person who lovingly remembers Your Name,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਭਿ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੩॥
sabh fal paa-ay nihchal gun gaa-o. ||3||
receives all the fruits of his desires by singing Your everlasting virtues. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਾ ਭਲੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
naanak bhagtaa bhalee reet.
O’ Nanak, sublime is the way of the life of the devotees,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਜਪਦੇ ਨੀਤ ਨੀਤਿ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੬॥
sukh-daata japday neet neet. ||4||3||16||
because they lovingly remeber the bliss giving God day after day. ||4||3||16||
ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੬॥

Raag Basant, Fifth Guru:
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਕੀਨ੍ਹੇ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
hukam kar keenHay nihaal.
God keeps His devotees totally delighted according to His divine law,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ-ਚਿੱਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਭਇਆ ਦਇਆਲੁ ॥੧॥
apnay sayvak ka-o bha-i-aa da-i-aal. ||1||
He (God) is always merciful to His devotee. ||1||
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਆ ॥
gur poorai sabh pooraa kee-aa.
The perfect Guru fulfilled all the objectives of that person to make his life fruitful,
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਹਰੇਕ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਫਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ)
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਮਹਿ ਦੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
amrit naam rid meh dee-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
in whose heart he (the Guru) enshrined the ambrosial Name of God. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਰਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ॥
karam Dharam mayraa kachh na beechaari-o.
God did not even consider my deeds and righteousness,
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਿਆਂ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ,
