ਨਾਮੇ ਸਰ ਭਰਿ ਸੋਨਾ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੦॥
naamay sar bhar sonaa layho. ||10||
please accept gold equal to Namdev’s weight and release him.||10||
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਲ ਕੇ ਸੋਨਾ ਲੈ ਲੈ (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ) ॥੧੦॥
ਮਾਲੁ ਲੇਉ ਤਉ ਦੋਜਕਿ ਪਰਉ ॥
maal lay-o ta-o dojak para-o.
The king replied: If I accept the bribe, I will be consigned to hell,
(ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ) ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਵੱਢੀ ਲਵਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਦੋਜ਼ਕ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਦੀਨੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕਉ ਭਰਉ ॥੧੧॥
deen chhod dunee-aa ka-o bhara-o. ||11||
because I will be amassing worldly wealth while forsaking my faith. ||11||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ) ਮੈਂ ਮਜ਼ਹਬ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਦੌਲਤ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧੧॥
ਪਾਵਹੁ ਬੇੜੀ ਹਾਥਹੁ ਤਾਲ ॥
paavhu bayrhee haathhu taal.
Namdev’s feet are tied in chains, still clapping his hands to produce tunes,
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਦੇ ਕੇ,
ਨਾਮਾ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੧੨॥
naamaa gaavai gun gopaal. ||12||
he kept singing praises of God. ||12||
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
ਗੰਗ ਜਮੁਨ ਜਉ ਉਲਟੀ ਬਹੈ ॥
gang jamun ja-o ultee bahai.
O’ king, if the rivers Ganges and Yamuna start flowing in the opposite direction,
ਜੇ ਗੰਗਾ ਤੇ ਜਮਨਾ ਉਲਟੀਆਂ ਭੀ ਵਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਣ,
ਤਉ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਰਹੈ ॥੧੩॥
ta-o naamaa har kartaa rahai. ||13||
even then I (Namdev) will continue singing God’s praises. ||13||
ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ ॥੧੩॥
ਸਾਤ ਘੜੀ ਜਬ ਬੀਤੀ ਸੁਣੀ ॥
saat gharhee jab beetee sunee.
When seven gharries (almost three hours) had elapsed,
ਜਦੋਂ (ਘੜਿਆਲ ਤੇ) ਸੱਤ ਘੜੀਆਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰੀਆਂ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ,
ਅਜਹੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਧਣੀ ॥੧੪॥
ajahu na aa-i-o taribhavan Dhanee. ||14||
then Namdev started wondering, why God, the Master of the universe, has still not come to his rescue? ||14||
ਤਾਂ (ਨਾਮੇ ਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ) ਅਜੇ ਤਕ ਭੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਕੀ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ ॥੧੪॥
ਪਾਖੰਤਣ ਬਾਜ ਬਜਾਇਲਾ ॥ ਗਰੁੜ ਚੜ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਆਇਲਾ ॥੧੫॥
paakhantan baaj bajaa-ilaa. garurh charhHay gobind aa-ilaa. ||15||
Right then, riding a Garurh (eagle like bird) and Playing with its wings like a musical instrument, God arrived there. ||15||
(ਬੱਸ! ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ) ਖੰਭਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਾਜਾ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ,ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਗਰੁੜ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ ॥੧੫॥
ਅਪਨੇ ਭਗਤ ਪਰਿ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥ ਗਰੁੜ ਚੜ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਆਏ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੧੬॥
apnay bhagat par kee partipaal. garurh charhHay aa-ay gopaal. ||16||
Yes, riding a Garurh, God came there to protect His devotee. ||16||
ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਗਰੁੜ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆ ਗਏ ॥੧੬॥
ਕਹਹਿ ਤ ਧਰਣਿ ਇਕੋਡੀ ਕਰਉ ॥
kaheh ta Dharan ikodee kara-o.
(God said: O’ Namdev,) If you wish, I will tilt the earth sideways,
(ਗੋਪਾਲ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ-ਹੇ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ!) ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਖੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਟੇਢੀ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂ,
ਕਹਹਿ ਤ ਲੇ ਕਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਧਰਉ ॥੧੭॥
kaheh ta lay kar oopar Dhara-o. ||17||
if you say, I will turn it upside down. ||17||
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਖੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਉਲਟਾ ਦਿਆਂ ॥੧੭॥
ਕਹਹਿ ਤ ਮੁਈ ਗਊ ਦੇਉ ਜੀਆਇ ॥
kaheh ta mu-ee ga-oo day-o jee-aa-ay.
If you wish, I shall bring the dead cow back to life,
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਖੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੋਈ ਹੋਈ ਗਾਂ ਜਿਵਾਲ ਦਿਆਂ,
ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਦੇਖੈ ਪਤੀਆਇ ॥੧੮॥
sabh ko-ee daykhai patee-aa-ay. ||18||
so that all may see and be convinced (of God’s protection of devotees). ||18||
ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖ ਲਏ ॥੧੮॥
ਨਾਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਸੇਲ ਮਸੇਲ ॥
naamaa paranvai sayl masayl.
I, Namdev, requested those people to tie a cord around the Cow’s hind legs,
ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮੇ ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ-(ਗਊ ਨੂੰ) ਨਿਆਣਾ ਪਾ ਦਿਉ।
ਗਊ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਬਛਰਾ ਮੇਲਿ ॥੧੯॥
ga-oo duhaa-ee bachhraa mayl. ||19|
and then the cow was milked after letting her calf join the cow. ||19||
(ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ) ਵੱਛਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਗਾਂ ਚੋ ਲਈ ॥੧੯॥
ਦੂਧਹਿ ਦੁਹਿ ਜਬ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਭਰੀ ॥
dooDheh duhi jab matukee bharee.
By milking the cow, when the pitcher got filled with milk,
ਦੁੱਧ ਚੋ ਕੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਟਕੀ ਭਰ ਲਈ,
ਲੇ ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ ਕੇ ਆਗੇ ਧਰੀ ॥੨੦॥
lay baadisaah kay aagay Dharee. ||20||
they took it and placed it before the king. ||20||
ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੨੦॥
ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹੁ ਮਹਲ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
baadisaahu mahal meh jaa-ay.
The king went back to his palace,
ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਮਹਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ,
ਅਉਘਟ ਕੀ ਘਟ ਲਾਗੀ ਆਇ ॥੨੧॥
a-ughat kee ghat laagee aa-ay. ||21||
and was overcome with a dreadful moment (afflicted with a disease). ||21||
ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਔਖੀ ਘੜੀ ਆ ਗਈ (ਭਾਵ, ਬੀਮਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ) ॥੨੧॥
ਕਾਜੀ ਮੁਲਾਂ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਇ ॥
kaajee mulaaN bintee furmaa-ay.
Through the Qazis and the Mullahs, the king made a request (to Namdev),
ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਮੌਲਵੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ (ਕਰ ਘੱਲੀ),
ਬਖਸੀ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਗਾਇ ॥੨੨॥
bakhsee hindoo mai tayree gaa-ay. ||22||
O’ Hindu, please forgive me, I am like your cow. ||22||
ਹੇ ਹਿੰਦੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਕਰ (ਜੋ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ ਮੈਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ), ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਗਾਂ ਹਾਂ ॥੨੨॥
ਨਾਮਾ ਕਹੈ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ ॥ ਇਹੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਤੀਆ ਮੁਝੈ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥੨੩॥
naamaa kahai sunhu baadisaah. ih kichh patee-aa mujhai dikhaa-ay. ||23||
Namdev said, O’ king, listen and give me one assurance. ||23||
ਨਾਮਾ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ! ਸੁਣ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਦਿਵਾ ਦੇਹ ॥੨੩॥
ਇਸ ਪਤੀਆ ਕਾ ਇਹੈ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥ ਸਾਚਿ ਸੀਲਿ ਚਾਲਹੁ ਸੁਲਿਤਾਨ ॥੨੪॥
is patee-aa kaa ihai parvaan. saach seel chaalahu sulitaan. ||24||
O’ king, the measure of this assurance will be that from now on, you will tread the path of truth and humility. ||24||
ਹੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ! ਇਸ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਪ ਇਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਕਿ ਤੂੰ (ਅਗਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ) ਸੱਚ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰੇਂ, ਚੰਗੇ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਵਿਚ ਰਹੇਂ ॥੨੪॥
ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਸਭ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਸਭ ਨਾਮੇ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨੫॥
naamday-o sabh rahi-aa samaa-ay. mil hindoo sabh naamay peh jaahi. ||25||
All the Hindus of the area got together and went to Namdev, and he became famous everywhere. ||25||
(ਨਗਰ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਪਾਸ ਆਏ,ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੨੫॥
ਜਉ ਅਬ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਜੀਵੈ ਗਾਇ ॥
ja-o ab kee baar na jeevai gaa-ay.
If the cow had not been resurrected this time,
ਜੇ ਐਤਕੀਂ ਗਾਂ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਨਾਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ,
ਤ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਕਾ ਪਤੀਆ ਜਾਇ ॥੨੬॥
ta naamdayv kaa patee-aa jaa-ay. ||26||
then people would have lost their faith in Namdev. ||26||
ਤਾਂ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦਾ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਸੀ ॥੨੬॥
ਨਾਮੇ ਕੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਰਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
naamay kee keerat rahee sansaar.
Namdev became famous throughout the world,
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਫੈਲ ਗਿਆ,
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਲੇ ਉਧਰਿਆ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨੭॥
bhagat janaaN lay uDhri-aa paar. ||27||
and taking other devoted persons along with him, he crossed over the worldly ocean of vices. ||27||
ਅਤੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਨਾਮਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੨੭॥
ਸਗਲ ਕਲੇਸ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਭਇਆ ਖੇਦੁ ॥ ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਰਾਇਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਭੇਦੁ ॥੨੮॥੧॥੧੦॥
sagal kalays nindak bha-i-aa khayd. naamay naaraa-in naahee bhayd. ||28||1||10||
No difference remained between Namdev and God, knowing this, all sorts of troubles and misery afflicted the slanderer. ||28||1||10||
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਵਿੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ, ਇਹ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਬੜਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੋਇਆ ॥੨੮॥੧॥੧੦॥

Second Beat:
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
ja-o gurday-o ta milai muraar.
If the Guru bestows grace, only then one realizes God.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਰੱਬ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਉਤਰੈ ਪਾਰਿ ॥
ja-o gurday-o ta utrai paar.
If the Guru is pleased, only then one crosses over the world-ocean of vices.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਤਰੈ ॥
ja-o gurday-o ta baikunth tarai.
If Guru bestows mercy, then one attains sublime spiritual status.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਇੱਥੋਂ) ਤਰ ਕੇ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਅੱਪੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ॥੧॥
ja-o gurday-o ta jeevat marai. ||1||
If one meets with the Guru and follows his teachings, then one sheds his self-conceit, as if one has died while still alive. ||1||
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
sat sat sat sat sat gurdayv.
The divine Guru has always been true and will always be true,
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਹਮੇਸਾ ਹੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
ਝੂਠੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਆਨ ਸਭ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jhooth jhooth jhooth jhooth aan sabh sayv. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and the service (following the teachings) of anyone other than the true Guru is false and useless. ||1||Pause||
ਹੋਰ ਸਭ (ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ) ਸੇਵਾ-ਪੂਜਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ, ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ, ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ॥
ja-o gurday-o ta naam darirh-aavai.
When the Guru is pleased, he enshrines Naam within.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਪਕਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਨ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
ja-o gurday-o na dah dis Dhaavai.
When the Guru grants his grace, one’s mind doesn’t wander all over.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਫਿਰ ਮਨ) ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਪੰਚ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
ja-o gurday-o panch tay door.
If the Guru is pleased, one remains away from the five vices.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਪੰਜ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਨ ਮਰਿਬੋ ਝੂਰਿ ॥੨॥
ja-o gurday-o na maribo jhoor. ||2||
If the Guru is pleased, then one doesn’t remain repenting. ||2||
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਚਿੰਤਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਝੁਰ ਝੁਰ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਪਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
ja-o gurday-o ta amrit baanee.
When the Guru is pleased, one’s speech becomes sweet,
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥
ja-o gurday-o ta akath kahaanee.
When the Guru grants his grace, then one sings praises of the indescribable God.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਅਕੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇਹ ॥
ja-o gurday-o ta amrit dayh.
When the Guru is merciful, one’s body remains immaculate.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਲੇਹਿ ॥੩॥
ja-o gurday-o naam jap layhi. ||3||
When the Guru becomes gracious, one meditates on Naam. ||3||
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਇਹ ਸਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਭਵਨ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
ja-o gurday-o bhavan tarai soojhai.
When the Guru grants his grace, one gets the understanding that God pervades the entire universe.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ( ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ),
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਊਚ ਪਦ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
ja-o gurday-o ooch pad boojhai.
If the Guru is pleased, one understands the supreme spiritual status.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਸੀਸੁ ਅਕਾਸਿ ॥
ja-o gurday-o ta sees akaas.
When the Guru is pleased, then one’s mind remains focused on God’s Name.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੪॥
ja-o gurday-o sadaa saabaas. ||4||
When the Guru is pleased, one always earns praise everywhwer. ||4||
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸਦਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
ja-o gurday-o sadaa bairaagee.
If the Guru is pleased, one remains detached from the love of Maya forever.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਰਕਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
ja-o gurday-o par nindaa ti-aagee.
When the Guru is pleased, one forsakes slandering others.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ,
