ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦੁ ਜਨੁ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਆਇ ॥੧੧॥
parahlaad jan charnee laagaa aa-ay. ||11||
Ultimately, devotee Prehlaad, himself went and fell at God’s feet (and prayed to take off this form of man-lion, and God acceded His request). ||11||
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ (ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ) ਚਰਨੀਂ ਆ ਲੱਗਾ ॥੧੧॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥
satgur naam niDhaan drirh-aa-i-aa.
That person in whose heart the true Guru implanted the treasure of Naam,
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਰਾਜੁ ਮਾਲੁ ਝੂਠੀ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
raaj maal jhoothee sabh maa-i-aa.
he visualizes that the power, wealth and all Maya is false (perishable).
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਮਾਲ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ-ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਲੋਭੀ ਨਰ ਰਹੇ ਲਪਟਾਇ ॥
lobhee nar rahay laptaa-ay.
But the greedy people remain clinging to these things,
ਪਰ ਲਾਲਚੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਚੰਬੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੧੨॥
har kay naam bin dargeh milai sajaa-ay. ||12||
and without remembering God’s Name, they receive punishment in God’s presence (and keep going through births and deaths). ||12||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥
kahai naanak sabh ko karay karaa-i-aa.
Nanak says, everyone does those deeds which God makes them to do.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਛ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
say parvaan jinee har si-o chit laa-i-aa.
Only those who keep focused their mind on God got accepted in His presence.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ (ਇਥੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਨਾਲ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਿਆ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕਰਦਾ ਆਇਆ ॥
bhagtaa kaa angeekaar kardaa aa-i-aa.
God has been taking the side of His devotees from the very beginning,
ਧੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਤੈ ਅਪਣਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੧੩॥੧॥੨॥
kartai apnaa roop dikhaa-i-aa. ||13||1||2||
and the Creator has revealed Himself to them. ||13||1||2||
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ (ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧੩॥੧॥੨॥

Raag Bhairao, Third Guru:
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
gur sayvaa tay amrit fal paa-i-aa ha-umai tarisan bujhaa-ee.
One who has received the ambrosial fruit of God’s Naam by following the Guru’s teachings, he has put out the fire of his ego and worldly desires.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਅਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ (ਦੀ ਅੱਗ) ਬੁਝਾ ਲਈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
har kaa naam hirdai man vasi-aa mansaa maneh samaa-ee. ||1||
God’s Name is enshrined in his mind and his desire for worldly things got stilled in the mind itself. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਪਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ (ਮਾਇਕ) ਫੁਰਨਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
har jee-o kirpaa karahu mayray pi-aaray.
O’ my dear reverend God, bestow mercy,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਦੀਨ ਜਨੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
an-din har gun deen jan maaNgai gur kai sabad uDhaaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I, Your humble devotee, beg for the gift of singing Your praises at all times; O’ God, save me from the vices through the Guru’s word. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਦਾ ਗਰੀਬ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਣ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਜਮੁ ਜੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਰਤੀ ਅੰਚ ਦੂਖ ਨ ਲਾਈ ॥
sant janaa ka-o jam johi na saakai ratee anch dookh na laa-ee.
Even the demon of death cannot look at the saintly persons with an evil intent and cannot inflict the slightest pain or suffering on them.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਵਲ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਭੀ ਕੋੜੀ ਅੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਸੇਕ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਆਪਿ ਤਰਹਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰਹਿ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥
aap tareh saglay kul taareh jo tayree sarnaa-ee. ||2||
O’ God, those who seek Your refuge, swim across the worldly ocean of vices and also help all their lineages to swim across. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਹਿ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਏਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
bhagtaa kee paij rakheh too aapay ayh tayree vadi-aa-ee.
O’ God, this is Your greatness that You Yourself save the honor of devotees.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਟਹਿ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਰਤੀ ਨ ਰਾਈ ॥੩॥
janam janam kay kilvikh dukh kaateh dubiDhaa ratee na raa-ee. ||3||
You wash off their sins and sorrows of many past births and not even an iota of duality remains in them. ||3||
ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਰਾਈ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ॥੩॥
ਹਮ ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧ ਕਿਛੁ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
ham moorh mugaDh kichh boojheh naahee too aapay deh bujhaa-ee.
O’ God! we, the foolish and ignorant ones, do not understand anything about righteous living, You Yourself make us understand it.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ (ਜੀਵ) ਮੂਰਖ ਹਾਂ ਅੰਞਾਣ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ) ਸਮਝ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਸੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥
jo tuDh bhaavai so-ee karsee avar na karnaa jaa-ee. ||4||
Whatever pleases You, everyone does that and nothing else can be done. ||4||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੰਮ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਉਲਟ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੪॥
ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਤੁਧੁ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਇਆ ਭੂੰਡੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
jagat upaa-ay tuDh DhanDhai laa-i-aa bhooNdee kaar kamaa-ee.
O’ God, after creating this world, You have attached people to worldly tasks and they are doing the evil deeds in the love for materialism.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਧੰਧੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਭੈੜੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜੂਐ ਹਾਰਿਆ ਸਬਦੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੫॥
janam padaarath joo-ai haari-aa sabdai surat na paa-ee. ||5||
They have not attained spiritual wisdom through the Guru’s word and have lost the precious human birth in the game of life. ||5||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਗਤ ਨੇ ਆਮਤਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਜੂਏ ਵਿਚ ਹਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ॥੫॥
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥
manmukh mareh tin kichhoo na soojhai durmat agi-aan anDhaaraa.
Due to evil intellect, the self-willed people remain in the darkness of spiritual ignorance, they know nothing about righteous life and spiritually deteriorate;
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ। ਭੈੜੀ ਮੱਤ ਦਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਹਨੇਰਾ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਡੂਬਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਰਿ ਭਾਰਾ ॥੬॥
bhavjal paar na paavahi kab hee doob mu-ay bin gur sir bhaaraa. ||6||
without following the Guru’s teachings, they become spiritually dead by drowning in the vices and can never cross over the world-ocean of vices. ||6||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰ-ਪਰਨੇ ਡੁੱਬ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੰਘ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੬॥
ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
saachai sabad ratay jan saachay har parabh aap milaa-ay.
Those people who remain imbued with the divine word of God’s praises, are His true devotees and God Himself unites them with Him,
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੭॥
gur kee banee sabad pachhaatee saach rahay liv laa-ay. ||7||
because they have understood the Guru’s teachings through his word, and they keep their mind focused on the eternal God. ||7||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮ-ਤਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੭॥
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
tooN aap nirmal tayray jan hai nirmal gur kai sabad veechaaray.
O’ God! You Yourself are immaculate and the life of Your devotees also becomes immaculate by reflecting on the Guru’s divine word.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈਂ। ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੮॥੨॥੩॥
naanak tin kai sad balihaarai raam naam ur Dhaaray. ||8||2||3||
Nanak is always dedicated to those who keep God’s Name enshrined within their hearts. ||8||2||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੮॥੨॥੩॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋਈ ਵਡ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
jis naam ridai so-ee vad raajaa.
That person in whose heart is enshrined God’s Name, is great like a king.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ (ਸਭ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ) ਵੱਡਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਾਜਾ ॥
jis naam ridai tis pooray kaajaa.
In whose heart is enshrined God’s Name, all his tasks are completed.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਨਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਧਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
jis naam ridai tin kot Dhan paa-ay.
In whose heart abides God’s Name, feels as if he has received millions of treasures.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਧਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਏ।
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥
naam binaa janam birthaa jaa-ay. ||1||
Without meditating on God’s Name, one’s life is considered a total waste. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
tis saalaahee jis har Dhan raas.
I praise the one who has accumulated the wealth of God’s Name.
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਵਡਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਾਥੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
so vadbhaagee jis gur mastak haath. ||1|| rahaa-o.
He indeed is very fortunate, on whom the Guru has bestowed the placed the divine wisdom. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਹ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੋਟ ਕਈ ਸੈਨਾ ॥
jis naam ridai tis kot ka-ee sainaa.
In whose heart is enshrined God’s Name, is so powerful as if he commands many forts and armies (spiritually becomes powerful to fight the vices).
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕਈ ਕਿਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ (ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)
ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੈਨਾ ॥
jis naam ridai tis sahj sukhainaa.
In whose heart manifests God’s Name, enjoys peace and spiritual poise.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
