ਸਰਬ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਣੇ ॥
sarab manorath pooran karnay.
God fulfills all his objectives.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗਾਵਤ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
aath pahar gaavat bhagvant.
That person always sings God’s praises,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਪੂਰਾ ਮੰਤੁ ॥੧॥
satgur deeno pooraa mant. ||1||
whom true Guru has given the perfect Mantra of Naam.||1||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਭਰਪੂਰ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥
ਸੋ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
so vadbhaagee jis naam pi-aar.
That person who is in love with God’s Name is very fortunate,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tis kai sang tarai sansaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
the entire world crosses over the worldly ocean of vices in his company. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੋਈ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਿ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਏਕ ॥
so-ee gi-aanee je simrai ayk.
That one alone is a divinely wise person who lovingly remembers God.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਬੇਕ ॥
so Dhanvantaa jis buDh bibayk.
That person is truly spiritually wealthy who has discerning intellect.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਦੀ ਪਰਖ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਕੁਲਵੰਤਾ ਜਿ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
so kulvantaa je simrai su-aamee.
One who lovingly remembers the Master-God belongs to high lineage.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉੱਚੀ ਕੁਲ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
ਸੋ ਪਤਿਵੰਤਾ ਜਿ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
so pativantaa je aap pachhaanee. ||2||
Honorable is the one who understands his own self. ||2||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
gur parsaad param pad paa-i-aa.
By the Guru’s grace, that person attained the supreme spiritual status,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ,
ਗੁਣ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
gun gopaal din rain Dhi-aa-i-aa.
who always remembered God and sang His praises.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਣੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
ਤੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥
tootay banDhan pooran aasaa.
The worldly bonds of that person got snapped and all his wishes got fulfilled,
ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਭ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈਆਂ, ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਭ ਆਸਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ,
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
har kay charan rid maahi nivaasaa. ||3||
in whose mind remained enshrined God’s Name. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ ਲਈ) ਟਿਕ ਗਏ ॥੩॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਮਾ ॥
kaho naanak jaa kay pooran karmaa.
Nanak says, one who has good destiny,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗ ਹਨ,
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਆਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥
so jan aa-i-aa parabh kee sarnaa.
that person seeks God’s refuge.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਿ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਨ ਸਭਿ ਕੀਨੇ ॥
aap pavit paavan sabh keenay.
He himself becomes pure and helps others to purify their conduct in life,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਆਚਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ) ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ॥੪॥੩੫॥੪੮॥
raam rasaa-in rasnaa cheenHay. ||4||35||48||
and he keeps enjoying the elixir of God’s Name. ||4||35||48||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਸਭ ਰਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਖਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩੫॥੪੮॥

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
naam lait kichh bighan na laagai.
No obstacles block the journey of life while lovingly remembering God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਦੀ) ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਤ ਜਮੁ ਦੂਰਹੁ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
naam sunat jam Dhoorahu bhaagai.
Upon hearing Naam, even the demon (fear) of death flees.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ (ਜੀਵਨ ਇਤਨਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੂਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਰੇ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਸਭ ਦੂਖਹ ਨਾਸੁ ॥
naam lait sabh dookhah naas.
By meditating on Naam, all one’s sorrows vanish,
ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
naam japat har charan nivaas. ||1||
One remains absorbed in God’s Name while meditating on Naam. ||
ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਨਿਰਬਿਘਨ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
nirbighan bhagat bhaj har har naa-o.
O’ brother, lovingly remember God’s Name, this is the only devotional worship which does not let any obstacle come in the journey of life,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਇਹ ਬਿਘਨਾ ਤੋ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rasak rasak har kay gun gaa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
therefore, joyfully keep singing praises of God with loving devotion. ||1||Pause||
ਬੜੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਚਾਖੁ ਨ ਜੋਹੈ ॥
har simrat kichh chaakh na johai.
No evil of vices harms while remembering God with adoration.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੈੜੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ,
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੈਤ ਦੇਉ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ॥
har simrat dait day-o na pohai.
No demon or ghost bother while lovingly remembering God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਦੈਂਤ ਕੋਈ ਦੇਉ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਬਧੈ ॥
har simrat moh maan na baDhai.
By meditating on Naam no worldly attachment or egotistical pride causes spiritual deterioration.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਣ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਚਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਰੁਧੈ ॥੨॥
har simrat garabh jon na ruDhai. ||2||
One is not caught in reincarnations by lovingly remembering God. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਸਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀ ਸਗਲੀ ਬੇਲਾ ॥
har simran kee saglee baylaa.
All times are appropriate for remembering God.
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਸਮਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਏ ਉਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਮਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਢੁਕਵਾਂ ਹੈ.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਹਿ ਇਕੇਲਾ ॥
har simran baho maahi ikaylaa.
Among the masses, only a rare one lovingly remembers God.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾਤਿ ਅਜਾਤਿ ਜਪੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
jaat ajaat japai jan ko-ay.
Social class or no social class, anyone can remember God.
ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ,
ਜੋ ਜਾਪੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
jo jaapai tis kee gat ho-ay. ||3||
Whoever lovingly remembers God, attains supreme spiritual state.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਉੱਚੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ॥
har kaa naam japee-ai saaDhsang.
O’ brother, if we remember God in the holy congregation,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਜਪੀਐ,
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
har kay naam kaa pooran rang.
then we are fully imbued with the love of God’s Name love.
ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਰੰਗ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
naanak ka-o parabh kirpaa Dhaar.
O’ God, bestow mercy on Nanak,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ,
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੩੬॥੪੯॥
saas saas har dayh chitaar. ||4||36||49||
and bless me with Your Name so that I may keep remembering You with each and every breath. ||4||36||49||
ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਹ (ਤਾ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ) ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੩੬॥੪੯॥

ਆਪੇ ਸਾਸਤੁ ਆਪੇ ਬੇਦੁ ॥
aapay saasat aapay bayd.
God’s Name itself is the knowledge of Shastras and Vedas.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੇਦ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਵੇਦ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ)।
ਆਪੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਭੇਦੁ ॥
aapay ghat ghat jaanai bhayd.
God Himself is pervading each and every heart and He is omniscient.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ (ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ), ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦਾ) ਭੇਦ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਵਥੁ ॥
jot saroop jaa kee sabh vath.
This entire universe is created by God and is the Embodiment of the Divine Light
ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਜਿਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਦੀ (ਰਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਨਿਰਾ ਨੂਰ ਹੀ ਨੂਰ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥੧॥
karan kaaran pooran samrath. ||1||
God is the creator of the entire creation, He pervades everywhere and is all powerfull. ||1||
ਉਹ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਗਹਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
parabh kee ot gahhu man mayray.
O’ my mind, hold on to the support of God,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਈ ਰੱਖ।
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਰਾਧਹੁ ਦੁਸਮਨ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
charan kamal gurmukh aaraaDhahu dusman dookh na aavai nayray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
follow the Guru’s teachings and lovingly remember God’s immaculate Name; one who does, is not afflicted by sorrow from the vices.||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ) ਵੈਰੀ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ, ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਪੇ ਵਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸਾਰੁ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੂਤਿ ਪਰੋਇਆ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
aapay van tarin taribhavan saar. jaa kai soot paro-i-aa sansaar.
God, under whose command the entire world is functioning, He Himself is taking care of all the forests, vegetation and the three worlds.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਪ੍ਰੋਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੰਗਲ, ਸਾਰੀ ਵਨਸਪਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ l
ਆਪੇ ਸਿਵ ਸਕਤੀ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ॥
aapay siv saktee sanjogee.
God Himself brings the mind and the materialism together.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ, ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ਆਪੇ ਭੋਗੀ ॥੨॥
aap nirbaanee aapay bhogee. ||2||
God Himself is fully detached from the world and Himself enjoys it by pervading all the beings. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ) ਵਾਸਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭੋਗ) ਭੋਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਤਤ ਤਤ ਸੋਇ ॥
jat kat paykha-o tat tat so-ay.
Wherever I look, God is dwelling there,
ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਕਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਥੇ, ਉਥੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
tis bin doojaa naahee ko-ay.
Except for Him, there is none other at all.
ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰੀਐ ਨਾਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
saagar taree-ai naam kai rang.
We can swim across the world-ocean of vices by falling in love for God’s Name.
(ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮ ਦੇ) ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਇਆਂ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ॥੩॥
gun gaavai naanak saaDhsang. ||3||
Nanak sings the praises of God in the holy congregation. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ (ਭੀ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭੁਗਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਵਸਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ॥
mukat bhugat jugat vas jaa kai.
God, in whose control is emancipation, sustenance and the way of life of people,
ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਤੀ (ਦੇਣੀ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਣ-ਪੀਣ ਨੂੰ) ਭੋਜਨ (ਦੇਣਾ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਜੀਵਨ-ਤੋਰੇ ਤੋਰਨਾ- ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ।
ਊਣਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਨ ਤਾ ਕੈ ॥
oonaa naahee kichh jan taa kai.
His devotees do not face shortage of anything.
ਹੇ ਜਨ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ (ਕਿਸੇ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੀ) ਕੋਈ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥
kar kirpaa jis ho-ay suparsan.
Showing His mercy on whom He becomes kind,
ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਧੰਨ ॥੪॥੩੭॥੫੦॥
naanak daas say-ee jan Dhan. ||4||37||50||
O’ Nanak, blessed are all those people. ||4||37||50||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੰਦੇ (ਅਸਲ) ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩੭॥੫੦॥

ਭਗਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
bhagtaa man aanand gobind.
There is always bliss in the minds of God’s devotees.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਸਥਿਤਿ ਭਏ ਬਿਨਸੀ ਸਭ ਚਿੰਦ ॥
asthit bha-ay binsee sabh chind.
They become spiritually stable (against vices) and all their worry is destroyed.
ਉਹ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
