ਮੂਲ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਖਾ ਕਤ ਆਹੈ ॥੧॥
mool binaa saakhaa kat aahai. ||1||
(but it is impossible), because how can there be any branches on a tree without the roots? ||1||
(ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਤਾਂਘ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ? ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
gur govind mayray man Dhi-aa-ay.
O’ my mind, always lovingly remember the Divine-Guru,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ (ਸਦਾ) ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ,
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਾਰੈ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam janam kee mail utaarai banDhan kaat har sang milaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
this remembrance washes off the filth of sins of many births, and unites one with God by cutting the bonds of the love for materialism.||1||pause||
(ਏਹ ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਇ ਕਹਾ ਸੁਚਿ ਸੈਲੁ ॥
tirath naa-ay kahaa such sail.
How can a person with a stone-like heart (uncompassionate) become spiritually pure, by bathing at a sacred shrine of pilgrimage?
ਪੱਥਰ (ਪੱਥਰ-ਦਿਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਤੀਰਥ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਮਨ ਕਉ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ॥
man ka-o vi-aapai ha-umai mail.
Instead, the filth of egotism clings to his mind.
(ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹੀ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਚੰਬੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੀਰਥ-ਜਾਤ੍ਰਾ ਕਰ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ)।
ਕੋਟਿ ਕਰਮ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾ ਮੂਲੁ ॥
kot karam banDhan kaa mool.
Millions of ritualistic deeds become the cause of egotism and entanglements.
ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ (ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀਆਂ) ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਦਾ (ਹੀ) ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਪੂਲੁ ॥੨॥
har kay bhajan bin birthaa pool. ||2||
Without remembering God, performing rituals is carrying worthless load. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਇਹ ਮਿਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ) ਵਿਅਰਥ ਪੰਡ ਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਖਾਏ ਬੂਝੈ ਨਹੀ ਭੂਖ ॥
bin khaa-ay boojhai nahee bhookh.
Just as without eating food, hunger is not quenched,
ਜਿਂਵੇ (ਭੋਜਨ) ਖਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਪੇਟ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ (ਦੀ ਅੱਗ) ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁੱਝਦੀ।
ਰੋਗੁ ਜਾਇ ਤਾਂ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਦੂਖ ॥
rog jaa-ay taaN utreh dookh.
and the pain and misery goes away only when the disease is cured.
ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੇ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ।
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ॥
kaam kroDh lobh mohi bi-aapi-aa.
Similarly, that person remains afflicted with lust, anger, greed, and attachment,
ਤਿਂਵੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨਾ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਪਿਆ ॥੩॥
jin parabh keenaa so parabh nahee jaapi-aa. ||3||
who has not remembered that God who has created him.||3||
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਪਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਧੰਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
Dhan Dhan saaDh Dhan har naa-o.
Blessed is God’s Name and blessed are God’s saints,
ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਸੰਤ,
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥
aath pahar keertan gun gaa-o.
who sing God’s praise at all times.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਧਨੁ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰ ॥
Dhan har bhagat Dhan karnaihaar.
Those people have the wealth of God’s devotional worship and the wealth of the Name of the Creator-God:
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਧਨ (ਸਦਾ ਮੌਜੂਦ) ਹੈ,
ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੪॥੩੨॥੪੫॥
saran naanak parabh purakh apaar. ||4||32||45||
O’ Nanak, who remain in the refuge of the all pervading infinite God. ||4||32||45||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩੨॥੪੫॥

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਗੁਰ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਏ ਭਉ ਗਏ ॥
gur suparsan ho-ay bha-o ga-ay.
One upon whom the Guru is totally pleased, his fears vanish,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਲਏ ॥
naam niranjan man meh la-ay.
because he always keeps the immaculate God’s Name enshrined in his mind.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਮਾਇਆ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
deen da-i-aal sadaa kirpaal.
On whom the merciful God of the meek is always compassionate,
ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥੧॥
binas ga-ay saglay janjaal. ||1||
all worldly entanglements of that person are destroyed.||1||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਨੇ ॥
sookh sahj aanand ghanay.
That person enjoys spiritual peace, poise and myriads of pleasures,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਅਤੇ ਬੜੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਨਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟੇ ਭੈ ਭਰਮਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਭਨੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaDhsang mitay bhai bharmaa amrit har har rasan bhanay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
whose tongue recites the ambrosial Name of God in the company of saints, and his fears and doubts go away, ||1||pause||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਵਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਆਮਤਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਹੇਤੁ ॥
charan kamal si-o laago hayt.
One who develops love for the immaculate Name of God,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਮਹਾ ਪਰੇਤੁ ॥
khin meh binsi-o mahaa parayt.
his great demon of ego is destroyed in an instant.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ (ਹੰਕਾਰ-ਰੂਪ) ਵੱਡਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
aath pahar har har jap jaap.
O’ brother, you should lovingly remember God at all times.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ,
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਿ ॥੨॥
raakhanhaar govid gur aap. ||2||
The Divine-Guru who is capable of protecting everyone, would Himself protect you.||2||
ਸਭ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਆਪ (ਤੇਰੀ ਭੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰੇਗਾ) ॥੨॥
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੈ ॥
apnay sayvak ka-o sadaa partipaarai.
God always cherishes His devotee.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ,
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਸ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
bhagat janaa kay saas nihaarai.
God looks after His devotees at each breath.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਹੁ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਬੜੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਮਾਨਸ ਕੀ ਕਹੁ ਕੇਤਕ ਬਾਤ ॥
maanas kee kaho kaytak baat.
Tell me, what harm can a human being do to the humble devotees of God ?
ਦੱਸ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੀਹ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ?
ਜਮ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਥ ॥੩॥
jam tay raakhai day kar haath. ||3||
God saves them even from the demon of death by extending His support.||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਜਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
nirmal sobhaa nirmal reet.
Immaculate is the glory and Immaculate is the way of life of that person,
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਬੇ-ਦਾਗ਼ ਸੋਭਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਆਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
paarbarahm aa-i-aa man cheet.
who remembers the Supreme God in his mind.
ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
kar kirpaa gur deeno daan.
Bestowing mercy, whom the Guru has blessed with the gift (of Naam),
ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੩੩॥੪੬॥
naanak paa-i-aa naam niDhaan. ||4||33||46||
O’ Nanak, that person has received the treasure of Naam.||4||33||46||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੩੩॥੪੬॥

ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
karan kaaran samrath gur mayraa.
My Divine Guru is the all-powerful and the creator of the universe,
ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ-ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ,
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
jee-a paraan sukh-daata nayraa.
He is the giver of life, breath and inner peace; He abides very close to all.
(ਸਭ ਨੂੰ) ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ (ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਾਇ ॥
bhai bhanjan abhinaasee raa-ay.
That imperishable God, the sovereign king, is the destroyer of all fears.
ਉਹ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ,
ਦਰਸਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਐ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
darsan daykhi-ai sabh dukh jaa-ay. ||1||
All misery goes away by experiencing His blessed vision. ||1||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
jat kat paykha-o tayree sarnaa.
O’ God, wherever I am, I look for Your support,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bal bal jaa-ee satgur charnaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I am dedicated to my true Guru, who has united me with Your Name. ||1||pause||
ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
pooran kaam milay gurdayv.
All the desires are fulfilled, upon realizing the Divine Guru.
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਾਮਨਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਸਭਿ ਫਲਦਾਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੇਵ ॥
sabh faldaataa nirmal sayv.
He is the giver of all fruits of mind’s desires, life becomes immaculate through His devotional worship.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ॥
kar geh leenay apunay daas.
God reaches out to His devotees and makes them His own,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਦੀਓ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥੨॥
raam naam rid dee-o nivaas. ||2||
and enshrines His Name in their hearts. ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਟਿਕਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
sadaa anand naahee kichh sog.
They always remain in bliss and never feel any sorrow.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਗ਼ਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹਦਾ।
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਨਹ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
dookh darad nah bi-aapai rog.
No misery, pain, or disease ever afflicts them.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੋਈ ਦਰਦ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਗ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ॥
sabh kichh tayraa too karnaihaar.
O’ God, everything belongs to You and only You are the creator of everything.
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੩॥
paarbarahm gur agam apaar. ||3||
O’ the supreme divine-Guru! You are imperceptible and infinite.||3||
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ-ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਤੂੰ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
nirmal sobhaa achraj banee. paarbarahm pooran man bhaanee.
Immaculate becomes the glory of that person, to whose mind the wondrous divine word of the supreme God is pleasing.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਬੇ-ਦਾਗ਼ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦੀ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥
jal thal mahee-al ravi-aa so-ay.
That God who is pervading all waters, lands, and skies:
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਸਭ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੩੪॥੪੭॥
naanak sabh kichh parabh tay ho-ay. ||4||34||47||
O’ Nanak, everything happens according to God’s command. ||4||34||47||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩੪॥੪੭॥

One whose mind and body remain imbued with the love of God’s Name,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ, ਤਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
