ਭੈ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਏ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
bhai bharam binas ga-ay khin maahi.
Their fears and doubts are destroyed in an instant,
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਸਹਿਮ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
paarbarahm vasi-aa man aa-ay. ||1||
because the Supreme God has manifested in their minds. ||1||
ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵਸਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਸੰਤ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਇ ॥
raam raam sant sadaa sahaa-ay.
God is always the support of His saints,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ,
ਘਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭ ਠਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ghar baahar naalay parmaysar rav rahi-aa pooran sabh thaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and is always with them both in and outside the home; God is totally pervading all places. ||1||Pause||
ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਘਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਸਭਨੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਧਨੁ ਮਾਲੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
Dhan maal joban jugat gopaal.
(For His saints), God’s Name is their wealth, possessions, youth and remembering Him with loving devotion is the righteous way to live.
(ਸੇਵਕ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਧਨ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮਾਲ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਜੀਊਣ ਦੀ ਸੁਚੱਜੀ ਜਾਚ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
jee-a paraan nit sukh partipaal.
God continually nurtures His saints and provides all comforts and inner peace.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਦੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਹਾਥ ॥
apnay daas ka-o day raakhai haath.
God protects His devotee by extending His support,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਛੋਡੈ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਥ ॥੨॥
nimakh na chhodai sad hee saath. ||2||
does not abandon him even for an instant and is always with him. ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ, ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਸਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
har saa pareetam avar na ko-ay.
There is no other Beloved like God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਰਗਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
saar samHaalay saachaa so-ay.
That eternal God always takes good care of His devotees,
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬੜੇ ਗਹੁ ਨਾਲ (ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧੁ ਨਰਾਇਣੁ ॥
maat pitaa sut banDh naraa-in.
for them God is mother, father, children and relative.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਮਾਂ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਪਿਉ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਹੈ।
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਣੁ ॥੩॥
aad jugaad bhagat gun gaa-in. ||3||
The devotees have been singing God’s praises since the beginning of time and throughout the ages, ||3||
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਭਗਤ (ਉਸ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਧਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਮਨਿ ਜੋਰੁ ॥
tis kee Dhar parabh kaa man jor.
The devotees feel the support of God within their minds and they depend on His power.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਤਾਣ ਹੈ।
ਏਕ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ॥
ayk binaa doojaa nahee hor.
Except for God, they do not look for any other support at all.
ਉਹ ਇੱਕ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੱਕਦੇ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਪੁਰਖਾਰਥੁ ॥
naanak kai man ih purkhaarath.
Nanak also has this confidence in his mind,
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਭੀ) ਇਹੀ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਰਥੁ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੫੧॥
parabhoo hamaaraa saaray su-aarath. ||4||38||51||
that our God accomplishes all our objectives. ||4||38||51||
ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਡਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਕੰਮ ਸੁਆਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੫੧॥

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਭੈ ਕਉ ਭਉ ਪੜਿਆ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥
bhai ka-o bha-o parhi-aa simrat har naam.
While remembering God’s Name, when the worldly fear itself became afraid of God’s fear,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਜਦੋ ਦੁਨਿਆਵੀ ਡਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ,
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਮਿਟੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਕੀ ਦਾਸ ਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagal bi-aaDh mitee tarihu gun kee daas kay ho-ay pooran kaam. ||1|| rahaa-o.
then all afflictions arising from the three traits of Maya (power, vice, or virtue) vanished and all the tasks of God’s devotee got accomplished. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਧਾਮ ॥
har kay lok sadaa gun gaavahi tin ka-o mili-aa pooran Dhaam.
The devotees of the supreme God always sing His praises and attain a place in His presence.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਬਾਂਛੈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਜਾਮ ॥੧॥
jan kaa daras baaNchhai din raatee ho-ay puneet Dharam raa-ay jaam. ||1||
Even the judge of righteousness always longs to see God’s devotee, so that he may also become immaculate. ||1||
ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਭੀ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਲੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮਦ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ॥
kaam kroDh lobh mad nindaa saaDhsang miti-aa abhimaan.
One’s lust, anger, greed, emotional attachment, slandering and egotistical pride are eradicated in the company of saints.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਹਰੇਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਐਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਭੇਟਹਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੨॥੩੯॥੫੨॥
Aisae Santh Bhaettehi Vaddabhaagee Naanak Thin Kai Sadh Kurabaan ||2||39||52||
But the company of such saints is attained only by good fortune: O’ Nanak! I am always dedicated to them. ||2||39||52||
ਪਰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥੩੯॥੫੨॥

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਪੰਚ ਮਜਮੀ ਜੋ ਪੰਚਨ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
panch majmee jo panchan raakhai.
One who harbors the five vices (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego) is like the worshipper of five mentors (instead of the true Guru),
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕਾ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਂਭੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹਨਾ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕਾ ਪੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਪਾਸਕ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਭਾਖੈ ॥
mithi-aa rasnaa nit uth bhaakhai.
always tells lies from the tongue,
ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਚਕ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਇ ਕਰੈ ਪਾਖੰਡ ॥
chakar banaa-ay karai pakhand.
and makes a false show of holiness, by making religious marks on his body
ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉੱਤੇ) ਗਣੇਸ਼ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਰਮੀ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਵਿਖਾਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਝੁਰਿ ਝੁਰਿ ਪਚੈ ਜੈਸੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਰੰਡ ॥੧॥
jhur jhur pachai jaisay tari-a rand. ||1||
He wastes away in sadness and pain, like a lonely widow woman. ||1||
ਉਹ ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਝੂਰ ਝੂਰ ਕੇ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਭ ਝੂਠੁ ॥
har kay naam binaa sabh jhooth.
Except remembering God’s Name with adoration, all other religious rituals are false and of no use;
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਹੋਰ) ਸਾਰੀ (ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਆ) ਝੂਠਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਹੈ;
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂਠੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bin gur pooray mukat na paa-ee-ai saachee dargahi saakat mooth. ||1|| rahaa-o.
liberation from vices is not attained without the perfect Guru’s teachings, and the faithless cynic is robbed of his honor in God’s presence. ||1||Pause||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁਟਿਆ ਹੇਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੁਟਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੋਈ ਕੁਚੀਲੁ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
so-ee kucheel kudrat nahee jaanai.
That person is wicked (unrighteous) who does not recognize God in nature.
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੰਦੀ ਰਹਿਣੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਛਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਲੀਪਿਐ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਸੁਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
leepi-ai thaa-ay na such har maanai.
God doesn’t consider a ritualistically sanctified place (kitchen) as pure.
ਜੇ ਬਾਹਰਲਾ ਚੌਕਾ ਲਿਪਿਆ ਜਾਏ (ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਬਾਹਰਲੀ ਸੁੱਚ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸੁੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ।
ਅੰਤਰੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਬਾਹਰੁ ਨਿਤ ਧੋਵੈ ॥
antar mailaa baahar nit Dhovai.
A person whose mind is soiled with vices, even if he washes himself everyday,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ (ਸੁੱਚ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਸਦਾ ਧੋਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਵੈ ॥੨॥
saachee dargahi apnee pat khovai. ||2||
still loses his honor in God’s presence. ||2||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਕਰੈ ਉਪਾਉ ॥
maa-i-aa kaaran karai upaa-o.
An hypocrite makes efforts to amass worldly wealth,
(ਆਪਣੇ ਧਰਮੀ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਵਿਖਾਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ (ਭੇਖ ਤੇ ਸੁੱਚ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ) ਹੀਲਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਘਾਲੈ ਸੀਧਾ ਪਾਉ ॥
kabeh na ghaalai seeDhaa paa-o.
but never treads on the path of righteousness,
ਪਰ (ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ) ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਪੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਧਰਦਾ,
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਣੈ ॥
jin kee-aa tis cheet na aanai.
never even remembers God who created him,
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ।
ਕੂੜੀ ਕੂੜੀ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥੩॥
koorhee koorhee mukhahu vakhaanai. ||3||
and for show, he keeps uttering God’s Name from his mouth. ||3||
(ਹਾਂ) ਝੂਠ-ਮੂਠ (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਗਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮੂੰਹੋਂ (ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ) ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
jis no karam karay kartaar.
One upon whom the Creator-God bestows grace,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ-ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਇ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
saaDhsang ho-ay tis bi-uhaar.
he starts associating with the company of the saints.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਬਹਿਣ-ਖਲੋਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
har naam bhagat si-o laagaa rang.
he falls in love with God’s Name and His devotional worship,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਨਹੀ ਭੰਗੁ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੫੩॥
kaho naanak tis jan nahee bhang. ||4||40||53||
O’ Nanak! say, no obstacles ever block his way to spiritual bliss. ||4||40||53||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਆਤਮਕ ਅਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ) ਤੋਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੫੩॥

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਉ ਫਿਟਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
nindak ka-o fitkay sansaar.
The entire world curses a slanderer,
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਹਮਤਾਂ ਲਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਫਿਟਕਾਰਾਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾ ਝੂਠਾ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
nindak kaa jhoothaa bi-uhaar.
False are the dealings of the slanderer.
ਤੁਹਮਤਾਂ ਲਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਕਸਬ ਝੂਠਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾ ਮੈਲਾ ਆਚਾਰੁ ॥
nindak kaa mailaa aachaar.
The conduct of a slanderer is unrighteous (evil and polluted).
ਤੁਹਮਤਾਂ ਲਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਚਰਨ ਹੀ ਗੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
daas apunay ka-o raakhanhaar. ||1||
But God always protects His devotee (from vices). ||1||
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਤੋਂ) ਆਪ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਮੁਆ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
nindak mu-aa nindak kai naal.
The slanderer spiritually deteriorates along with the rest of the slanderers,
(ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਤੁਹਮਤਾਂ ਲਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੁਹਮਤਾਂ ਲਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਸੁਹਬਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਜਨ ਰਾਖੇ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਕੜਕਿਓ ਕਾਲੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarbarahm parmaysar jan raakhay nindak kai sir karhki-o kaal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
the fear of death always keeps roaring over the slanerer’s head; but the supreme God has always protected his devotees. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਹਮਤਾਂ ਲਾਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਦਾ ਗੱਜਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਵਲੋਂ )ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
