ਰੋਗ ਬੰਧ ਰਹਨੁ ਰਤੀ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
rog banDh rahan ratee na paavai.
Being bound in the ailment (of ego) one does not find any stability and peace.
ਰੋਗ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਮੁਹਤ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਓ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਰੋਗੁ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
bin satgur rog kateh na jaavai. ||3||
Without the true Guru’s teachings, this malady of ego never go away. ||3||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਇਹ) ਰੋਗ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਇਆ ॥
paarbarahm jis keenee da-i-aa.
One upon whom God bestowed mercy,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
ਬਾਹ ਪਕੜਿ ਰੋਗਹੁ ਕਢਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
baah pakarh rogahu kadh la-i-aa.
extending His support, God pulled that person out of the malady of ego.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬਾਂਹ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਤੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
tootay banDhan saaDhsang paa-i-aa.
All his worldly bonds snapped when he attained the company of the Guru.
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਏ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੦॥
kaho naanak gur rog mitaa-i-aa. ||4||7||20||
O’ Nanak, say, the Guru eradicated that person’s malady of ego. ||4||7||20||.

ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ ॥

One feels great bliss when God manifests in his mind.
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੜਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜ ॥
cheet aavai taaN sabh dukh bhanj.
When God manifests in the mind, then all the sorrows vanish.
ਜਦੋਂ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
cheet aavai taaN sarDhaa pooree.
When God manifests in the mind, then every desire is fulfilled.
ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸੱਧਰ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਝੂਰੀ ॥੧॥
cheet aavai taaN kabeh na jhooree. ||1||
One in whose heart God manifests, then he never worries about anything. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਆਇ ॥
antar raam raa-ay pargatay aa-ay.
God, the sovereign king, manifests within that person,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਓ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poorai dee-o rang laa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
whom the perfect Guru has imbued with the love of Naam. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
cheet aavai taaN sarab ko raajaa.
In whose heart God manifests, he feels so elated as if he is the king of all.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਚਿਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਭ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਾਜਾ ॥
cheet aavai taaN pooray kaajaa.
When God manifests in the mind, then all the tasks get accomplished.
ਜਦੋਂ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਰੰਗਿ ਗੁਲਾਲ ॥
cheet aavai taaN rang gulaal.
When God manifests in one’s mind, then his face glows with the elation of extreme spiritual delight.
ਜਦੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੨॥
cheet aavai taaN sadaa nihaal. ||2||
When God manifests in the mind, then he always remains delighted. ||2||
ਜਦੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਖਿੜੇ-ਮੱਥੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਦ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ॥
cheet aavai taaN sad Dhanvantaa.
When God manifests one’s mind, then he becomes affluent with the wealth of Naam forever.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਦ ਨਿਭਰੰਤਾ ॥
cheet aavai taaN sad nibhrantaa.
When God manifests in the mind, then one escapes from wandering for the sake of Maya for ever.
ਜਦੋਂ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਭਿ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣੇ ॥
cheet aavai taaN sabh rang maanay.
When God manifests in the mind, one enjoys all kinds of joys and bliss.
ਜਦੋਂ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਣੇ ॥੩॥
cheet aavai taaN chookee kaanay. ||3||
When God manifests in the mind, then his dependence on others ends. ||3||
ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ॥੩॥
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਹਜ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
cheet aavai taaN sahj ghar paa-i-aa.
When God manifests in the mind, then one attains a state of spiritual poise.
(ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਪਰਗਟਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
cheet aavai taaN sunn samaa-i-aa.
When God manifests in the mind, then one remains in that state of mind where no worldly thoughts arise.
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਫੁਰਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਉੱਠਦੇ,
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਸਦ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਤਾ ॥ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥੪॥੮॥੨੧॥
cheet aavai sad keertan kartaa. man maani-aa naanak bhagvantaa. ||4||8||21||
O’ Nanak, when God manifests in the mind, then one always sings God’s praises and his mind becomes appeased with God. ||4||8||21||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਤੀਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੮॥੨੧॥

ਬਾਪੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਸਦ ਚਰੰਜੀਵੀ ॥
baap hamaaraa sad charanjeevee.
God, our true Father, is eternal and alive forever.
ਸਾਡਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਭਾਈ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਜੀਵੀ ॥
bhaa-ee hamaaray sad hee jeevee.
My brothers, the fellow devotees, are spiritually alive forever as well.
ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਭੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਗਏ,
ਮੀਤ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
meet hamaaray sadaa abhinaasee.
My friends from the holy congregation are also spiritually imperishable.
ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਅਟੱਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ,
ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੀ ॥੧॥
kutamb hamaaraa nij ghar vaasee. ||1||
My family abides within themselves and remains focused on God. ||1||
ਮੇਰਾ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਅੰਦਰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ॥੧॥
ਹਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਸਭਹਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥
ham sukh paa-i-aa taaN sabheh suhaylay.
I received inner peace and my entire family is also at peace,
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖੀ ਹਨ,
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poorai pitaa sang maylay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
when the Perfect Guru united me with God, my true father. ||1||Pause||
ਜਦੋਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮੰਦਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚੇ ॥.
mandar mayray sabh tay oochay.
(Since the time, the perfect Guru has united me with God, my true father,) the highest of the high have become the places where my mind abides.
(ਜਦੋਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤਦੋਂ) ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ,
ਦੇਸ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਪੂਛੇ ॥
days mayray bay-ant apoochhay.
Spiritually these places are infinitely high that even the demon of death is unable to ask any question.
ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਇਤਨੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਕਿ ਜਮ-ਰਾਜ ਉੱਥੇ ਕੁਝ ਪੁੱਛਣ-ਜੋਗਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਹ ਰਿਹਾ।
ਰਾਜੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ॥
raaj hamaaraa sad hee nihchal.
My control over my kingdom (my sensory organs) has become stable forever
ਮੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੋ ਗਈ,
ਮਾਲੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਅਖੂਟੁ ਅਬੇਚਲੁ ॥੨॥
maal hamaaraa akhoot abaychal. ||2||
and my wealth of Naam is inexhaustible and everlasting. ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਅਮੁੱਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੋਭਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਜੁਗ ਅੰਤਰਿ ॥
sobhaa mayree sabh jug antar.
(It is through God’s glory), my glory also resounds throughout the ages.
ਇਹ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਭੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਯੁੱਗਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੂੰਜਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਜ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ॥
baaj hamaaree thaan thanantar.
(Through God’s fame), my fame has also spread in all places.
(ਇਹ ਜੋ ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੈ,
ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹਮਰੀ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
keerat hamree ghar ghar ho-ee.
(Along with God), my praises are also being sung in each and every house.
ਹਰੇਕ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ) ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ,
ਭਗਤਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਸਭਨੀ ਲੋਈ ॥੩॥
bhagat hamaaree sabhnee lo-ee. ||3||
(God’s devotional worship is being performed in all the worlds,) I feel as if I am also being worshipped. ||3||
(ਇਹ ਜੋ) ਸਭਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ) ਭਗਤੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ( ॥੩॥
ਪਿਤਾ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਮਾਝ ॥
pitaa hamaaray pargatay maajh.
Since God, my true father, has manifested in my mind,
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਪਏ,
ਪਿਤਾ ਪੂਤ ਰਲਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਸਾਂਝ ॥
pitaa poot ral keenee saaNjh.
It feels as if the father and the son have joined together and formed a partnership of virtues.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਈਵਾਲੀ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਉ ਪਿਤਾ ਪਤੀਨੇ ॥
kaho naanak ja-o pitaa pateenay.
O’ Nanak! say, that when God, the the true father, became pleased with His son,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ, ਜਦੋਂ ਪਿਤਾ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਉੱਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਿਤਾ ਪੂਤ ਏਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਲੀਨੇ ॥੪॥੯॥੨੨॥
pitaa poot aikai rang leenay. ||4||9||22||
then both God, the true father, and the human being, the son, are absorbed in the same state of love and become one. ||4||9||22||
ਤਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ ਤੇ ਜੀਵ-ਪੁੱਤਰ ਇੱਕੋ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ-ਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੯॥੨੨॥
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥.

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤੇ ॥
nirvair purakh satgur parabh daatay.
O’ the all pervading Divine-Guru, the benefactor and free of any enmity,
ਹੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਨਾਹ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪੁਰਖ! ਹੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
ਹਮ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਬਖਸਾਤੇ ॥
ham apraaDhee tumH bakhsaatay.
we are the sinners and You are the forgiver.
ਸੀਂ (ਜੀਵ) ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੁਸੀਂ (ਸਾਡੀਆਂ) ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਾਪੀ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਨ ਢੋਈ ॥
jis paapee ka-o milai na dho-ee.
That sinner, who finds no protection anywhere,
ਜਿਸ ਪਾਪੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ,
ਸਰਣਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥
saran aavai taaN nirmal ho-ee. ||1||
when he comes to Your refuge, then he becomes immaculate and pure. ||1||.
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਨਾਇ ॥
sukh paa-i-aa satguroo manaa-ay.
Pleasing the true Guru by following his teachings, one attains the inner peace,
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਭ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabh fal paa-ay guroo Dhi-aa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and receives the fruits of his heart’s desires by enshring the Guru’s teachings in his mind. ||1||Pause||.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਾਰੇ (ਇੱਛਿਤ) ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਦੇਸੁ ॥
paarbarahm satgur aadays.
O’ the supreme God, the true Guru, I humbly bow to you.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ) ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਦੇਸੁ ॥
man tan tayraa sabh tayraa days.
This mind and body are Yours; the entire world is Yours.
ਇਹ ਮਨ (ਇਹ) ਤਨ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ਸਾਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦੇਸ ਹੈ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ)।
ਚੂਕਾ ਪੜਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ॥
chookaa parh-daa taaN nadree aa-i-aa.
When one’s veil of illusion is removed, only then You become visible to him,
(ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ) ਪਰਦਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਖਸਮੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੇ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
khasam toohai sabhnaa kay raa-i-aa. ||2||
and he understands that you alone are the Master and sovereign king of all. ||2||
ਉਹ ਜਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਹੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਤੂੰ (ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ) ਖਸਮ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਸੂਕੇ ਕਾਸਟ ਹਰਿਆ ॥
tis bhaanaa sookay kaasat hari-aa.
If it so pleased God, then the dry wood like-mind blossom spiritually,
ਜੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਸੁੱਕੇ ਕਾਠ ਹਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਤਾਂ ਥਲ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਰਿਆ ॥
tis bhaanaa taaN thal sir sari-aa.
If it pleases God, then the lake forms on the deserts.
ਜੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਥਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਤਾਂ ਸਭਿ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ॥
tis bhaanaa taaN sabh fal paa-ay.
When one becomes pleasing to God, then one receives all the fruits (of one’s desire),
ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਚਿੰਤ ਗਈ ਲਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥
chint ga-ee lag satgur paa-ay. ||3||
and all his anxiety vanishes by following the true Guru’s teachings. ||3||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
