ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
tis jan kay sabh kaaj savaar.
He accomplishes all the tasks of that person;
ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥
tis kaa raakhaa ayko so-ay.
God alone is the protector of that person,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਪੜਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੭॥
jan naanak aparh na saakai ko-ay. ||4||4||17||
and O’ devotee Nanak, no one can equal that person. ||4||4||17||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੭॥

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਹੋਵੈ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥
ta-o karhee-ai jay hovai baahar.
We may worry or be upset only if anything happens outside God’s will.
ਅਸੀਂ ਤਦ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਕਰੀਏ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ੈ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ ।
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਰਹਰਿ ॥
ta-o karhee-ai jay visrai narhar.
We may agonize, if we forget God.
ਤਦੋਂ ਝੁਰਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨੋਂ) ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਏ।
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਏ ॥
ta-o karhee-ai jay doojaa bhaa-ay.
We should start worrying, if we love someone other than God,
ਤਦੋਂ ਝੁਰਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ।
ਕਿਆ ਕੜੀਐ ਜਾਂ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੧॥
ki-aa karhee-ai jaaN rahi-aa samaa-ay. ||1||
When God is pervading everywhere, then why should we worry? ||1||
ਜਦ ਕਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਕਰੀਏ?॥੧॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਕੜੇ ਕੜਿ ਪਚਿਆ ॥
maa-i-aa mohi karhay karh pachi-aa.
Engrossed in the love for Maya, one always remains worried and continues to deteriorate spiritually,
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਖਿੱਝ ਖਿੱਝ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਖਪਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bin naavai bharam bharam bharam khapi-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and without remembering God’s Name, he remains wandering in doubt and wastes away. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
ta-o karhee-ai jay doojaa kartaa.
We should worry if anyone other than God could do anything.
ਤਦੋਂ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰੀਏ, ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ ।
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਅਨਿਆਇ ਕੋ ਮਰਤਾ ॥
ta-o karhee-ai jay ani-aa-ay ko martaa.
We may gripe only if someone died without God’s will.
ਤਦੋਂ ਝੂਰੀਏ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਿਆਂ (ਹੁਕਮ) ਦੇ ਉਲਟ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ।
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
ta-o karhee-ai jay kichh jaanai naahee.
We should be concerned only if God is unaware of anything.
ਕੇਵਲ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਕਰੀਏ ਜੇਕਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਬੇਖਬਰ ਹੋਵੇ।
ਕਿਆ ਕੜੀਐ ਜਾਂ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
ki-aa karhee-ai jaaN bharpoor samaahee. ||2||
God is totally pervading everywhere, then why should we worry? ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ, ਫਿਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰੀਏ? ॥੨॥
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਇ ਧਿਙਾਣੈ ॥
ta-o karhee-ai jay kichh ho-ay Dhinyaanai.
We should worry only if anything happens by force outside of God’s will.
ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਰੀਏ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਬਦੋ ਬਦੀ,ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬੇ-ਵਸਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਭੂਲਿ ਰੰਞਾਣੈ ॥
ta-o karhee-ai jay bhool ranjaanay.
We should agonize only if God makes anyone suffer by mistake.
ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਤਾਂ ਕਰੀਏ ਜੇਕਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਜੋ ਹੋਇ ਸਭੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ॥
gur kahi-aa jo ho-ay sabh parabh tay.
The Guru has said that whatever happens is all by God’s will.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਬ ਕਾੜਾ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਚਿੰਤ ਹਮ ਸੋਤੇ ॥੩॥
tab kaarhaa chhod achint ham sotay. ||3||
Therefore, forsaking all worry, I remain care free (in God’s will). ||3||
ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ) ਬੇ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਟਿਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੂਹੈ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
parabh toohai thaakur sabh ko tayraa.
O’ God, You are the Master and everyone belongs to You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰਾ (ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਹੈ।
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥
ji-o bhaavai ti-o karahi nibayraa.
You make all the decisions regarding people’s fate as it pleases You.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਦਾ) ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਦੁਤੀਆ ਨਾਸਤਿ ਇਕੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
dutee-aa naasat ik rahi-aa samaa-ay.
O’ God! there is none other at all, You alone are pervading everywhere.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਤੇਰੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ।
ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪੈਜ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੮॥
raakho paij naanak sarnaa-ay. ||4||5||18||
O’ Nanak, say: O’ God! save my honor, I have come to Your refuge. ||4||5||18||.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੮॥

What kind of dance is there without the accompanying music?
ਸਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਾਹਦਾ ਨਾਚ ਹੈ?
ਬਿਨੁ ਕੰਠੈ ਕੈਸੇ ਗਾਵਨਹਾਰੀ ॥
bin kanthai kaisay gaavanhaaree.
Without a melodious voice, how can one sing nicely?
ਸੁਰੀਲੀ ਆਵਾਜ ਦੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਾਹਦਾ ਗਵਈਆ?
ਜੀਲ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਬਜੈ ਰਬਾਬ ॥
jeel binaa kaisay bajai rabaab.
How can a guitar be played without the strings?
ਤੰਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਰਬਾਬ ਕਿਂਵੇ ਵੱਜ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਬਿਰਥੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਜ ॥੧॥
naam binaa birthay sabh kaaj. ||1||
similarly without remembering God’s Name, useless are all worldly deeds.||1||.
(ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਹਹੁ ਕੋ ਤਰਿਆ ॥
naam binaa kahhu ko tari-aa.
(O’ my friend), tell me who has ever crossed over the world-ocean of viceswithout lovingly remembering God’s Name?
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ) ਦੱਸ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੌਣ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਿਆ ਹੈ?
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈਸੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bin satgur kaisay paar pari-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Without following the true Guru’s teachings, how can anyone cross over to the other side of the world-ocean of vices? ||1||Pause||.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਬਕਤਾ ॥
bin jihvaa kahaa ko baktaa.
How can anyone speak without a tongue?
ਜੀਭ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੋਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਬਿਨੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਾ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਸੁਨਤਾ ॥
bin sarvanaa kahaa ko suntaa.
How can anyone hear without ears?
ਕੰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੁਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਬਿਨੁ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਾ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਪੇਖੈ ॥
bin naytaraa kahaa ko paykhai.
How can anyone see without eyes ?
ਅੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਰੁ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਲੇਖੈ ॥੨॥
naam binaa nar kahee na laykhai. ||2||
Without remembering God’s Name, one has no worth in God’s presence. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਪੁੱਛ-ਗਿਛ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਕਹਾ ਕੋਈ ਪੰਡਿਤ ॥
bin bidi-aa kahaa ko-ee pandit.
How can one be a Pandit without learning and acquiring Knowledge ?
ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਬਿਨੁ ਅਮਰੈ ਕੈਸੇ ਰਾਜ ਮੰਡਿਤ ॥
bin amrai kaisay raaj mandit.
Without power, what is the glory of a King?
ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ, ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਦੀ ਕਾਹਦੀ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਹੈ?
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਕਹਾ ਮਨੁ ਠਹਰਾਨਾ ॥
bin boojhay kahaa man thehraanaa.
Without understanding the Guru’s word, how can the mind become steady?
(ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ) ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਿਕ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
naam binaa sabh jag ba-uraanaa. ||3||
Without remembering God’s Name, the entire world has gone crazy. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਝੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਕਹਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
bin bairaag kahaa bairaagee.
If one is not detached from the love of materialism, then what kind of detached person is he?
ਜੇ ਵੈਰਾਗੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਨਿਰਮੋਹਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵੈਰਾਗੀ ਕਾਹਦਾ?
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਉ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਹਾ ਕੋਊ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
bin ha-o ti-aag kahaa ko-oo ti-aagee.
Without renouncing egotism, how can anyone be a renunciate?
ਹਉਮੈ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਖਵਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਬਸਿ ਪੰਚ ਕਹਾ ਮਨ ਚੂਰੇ ॥
bin bas panch kahaa man chooray.
Without overcoming the five vices, how can the mind be subdued?
ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਝੂਰੇ ॥੪॥
naam binaa sad sad hee jhooray. ||4||
Without remembering God’s Name, one regrets forever and ever. ||4||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਕੈਸੇ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
bin gur deekhi-aa kaisay gi-aan.
How can anyone obtain spiritual wisdom without the Guru’s teachings?
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੋਧ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਬਿਨੁ ਪੇਖੇ ਕਹੁ ਕੈਸੋ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
bin paykhay kaho kaiso Dhi-aan.
If one cannot realize God, then what kind of meditation is that?
ਉਹ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਕਾਹਦੀ, ਜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ਼ਟ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ?
ਬਿਨੁ ਭੈ ਕਥਨੀ ਸਰਬ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
bin bhai kathnee sarab bikaar.
Without having the revered fear of God, all one says is useless.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਚੁੰਚ-ਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰ ਕਾ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥੫॥੬॥੧੯॥
kaho naanak dar kaa beechaar. ||5||6||19||
O’ Nanak! say, this (as discussed above) is the way to realize God. ||5||6||19||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਹੈ ॥੫॥੬॥੧੯॥

ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕਉ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
ha-umai rog maanukh ka-o deenaa.
God has afflicted the human being with the malady of ego.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਦੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਕਾਮ ਰੋਗਿ ਮੈਗਲੁ ਬਸਿ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
kaam rog maigal bas leenaa.
The disease of sexual desire (lust) has overwhelmed the elephant.
ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸਨਾ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਨੇ ਹਾਥੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਰੋਗਿ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਪਤੰਗਾ ॥

The moth is consumed by the sight of a light or flame
(ਦੀਵੇ ਦੀ ਲਾਟ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖਣ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਤੰਗੇ (ਦੀਵੇ ਦੀ ਲਾਟ ਉਤੇ) ਸੜ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਦ ਰੋਗਿ ਖਪਿ ਗਏ ਕੁਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
naad rog khap ga-ay kurangaa. ||1||
The deer is lured to its death due to his affliction of the sound of the bell, ||1||
(ਘੰਡੇ ਹੇੜੇ ਦੀ) ਆਵਾਜ਼ (ਸੁਣਨ) ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਿਰਨ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸੋ ਰੋਗੀ ॥.
jo jo deesai so so rogee.
(O’ my friend), whoever is seen in the world is afflicted with some malady.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ) ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜੀਵ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸੇ ਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਰੋਗ ਰਹਿਤ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜੋਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rog rahit mayraa satgur jogee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Only my True Guru, the true Yogi, is free of any affliction. ||1||Pause||
(ਅਸਲ) ਜੋਗੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਸਭ) ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਹਵਾ ਰੋਗਿ ਮੀਨੁ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆਨੋ ॥
jihvaa rog meen garsi-aano.
The fish gets caught (in the hook) due to its tongue’s affliction of tasting.
ਜੀਭ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮੱਛੀ ਫੜੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਬਾਸਨ ਰੋਗਿ ਭਵਰੁ ਬਿਨਸਾਨੋ ॥
baasan rog bhavar binsaano.
The bumble bee perishes due to its affliction of smelling flowers.
ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਫੁੱਲ ਦੀ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਲੈਣ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਭੌਰਾ (ਫੁੱਲ ਵਿਚ ਮੀਟਿਆ ਜਾ ਕੇ) ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੇਤ ਰੋਗ ਕਾ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
hayt rog kaa sagal sansaaraa.
The entire world is caught in the malady of attachment,
ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਰੋਗ ਮਹਿ , ਬਧੇ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
taribaDh rog meh baDhay bikaaraa. ||2||
and bound in the three modes of Maya, their sins keep multiplying. ||2||
ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਣੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਰੋਗੇ ਮਰਤਾ ਰੋਗੇ ਜਨਮੈ ॥
rogay martaa rogay janmai.
One takes birth afflicted with ego and dies afflicted with ego,
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਉਮੇ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਉਮੇ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਰੋਗੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਭਰਮੈ ॥
rogay fir fir jonee bharmai.
and due to this malady of ego, one wanders in reincarnation.
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਹਉਮੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੀ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
