ਹਰਾਮਖੋਰ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਕਉ ਤੂਠਾ ॥
haraamkhor nirgun ka-o toothaa.
When God becomes merciful even on a unvirtuous, who keeps eye on other’s property,
ਪਰਾਇਆ ਹੱਕ ਖਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਭੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਨਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੂਠਾ ॥
man tan seetal man amrit voothaa.
his mind and body becomes tranquil and the ambrosial nectar of Naam becomes manifest in his mind.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
paarbarahm gur bha-ay da-i-aalaa.
Those devotees on whom the all-pervading Divine-Guru becomes gracious,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦੇਖਿ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੨੩॥
naanak daas daykh bha-ay nihaalaa. ||4||10||23||
O’ Nanak, experiencing His blessed vision, they become delighted. ||4||10||23||.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੨੩॥

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੇਮੁਹਤਾਜੁ ॥

My True Guru is totally independent.
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਾਤੀ ਗ਼ਰਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ)
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਜੁ ॥
satgur mayray sachaa saaj.
Eternal is the kingdom and establishment of my true Guru.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਬੇ-ਗ਼ਰਜ਼ ਹੈ)।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਭਸ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
satgur mayraa sabhas kaa daataa.
My True Guru is the benefactor of all.
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਦਾਤਾਂ) ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੧॥
satgur mayraa purakh biDhaataa. ||1||
My true Guru is the embodiment of the all pervading Creator. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰ ਜੈਸਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਦੇਵ ॥
gur jaisaa naahee ko dayv.
There is no angel like the Guru,
ਗੁਰੂ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਸੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jis mastak bhaag so laagaa sayv. ||1|| rahaa-o.
only the preordained one serves the Guru and follows his teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ (ਜਾਗ ਪਏ) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ॥
satgur mayraa sarab paratipaalai.
My true Guru sustains and protects all.
ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੈ ॥
satgur mayraa maar jeevaalai.
My true Guru kills the self-conceit of his followers and gives them a spiritual life.
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
satgur mayray kee vadi-aa-ee.
The greatness of my true Guru,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਉੱਚੀ ਸੋਭਾ-
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਈ ਹੈ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥੨॥
pargat bha-ee hai sabhnee thaa-ee. ||2||
has become known everywhere. ||2||
ਸਭਨੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ਨਿਤਾਣੁ ॥
satgur mayraa taan nitaan.
My true Guru is the power of the powerless.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ (ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਗੁਰੂ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਘਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥
satgur mayraa ghar deebaan.
My true Guru is the support of my heart.
ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇਆ ॥
satgur kai ha-o sad bal jaa-i-aa.
I am always dedicated to the true Guru,
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਦਿਖਲਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
pargat maarag jin kar dikhlaa-i-aa. ||3||
who has revealed to me the righteous way of life. ||3||.
ਜਿਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਸਿੱਧਾ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥.
jin gur sayvi-aa tis bha-o na bi-aapai.
One who follows the Guru’s teachings, is not afflicted with any kind of fear.
ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥
jin gur sayvi-aa tis dukh na santaapai.
No misery can bother that person who follows the Guru’s teachings.
ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਧੇ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੇਦ ॥
naanak soDhay simrit bayd.
O’ Nanak! l have carefully studied the Simritees and the Vedas,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਵੇਦ (ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕ) ਖੋਜ ਵੇਖੇ ਹਨ,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਭੇਦ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੨੪॥
paarbarahm gur naahee bhayd. ||4||11||24||
and have concluded that there is no difference between the supreme God and the Guru. ||4||11||24||
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੨੪॥

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
naam lait man pargat bha-i-aa.
By meditating on Naam, the mind becomes spiritually enlightened.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਕੇ) ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਪਾਪੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਗਇਆ ॥
naam lait paap tan tay ga-i-aa.
The body becomes free from the effect of sins by reciting God’s Name.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ) ਪਾਪ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਸਗਲ ਪੁਰਬਾਇਆ ॥
naam lait sagal purbaa-i-aa.
By reciting God’s Name one feels as if he has celebrated all the auspicious occasions.
ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪੁਰਬ ਮਨਾਏ ਗਏ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਮਜਨਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
naam lait athsath majnaa-i-aa. ||1||
By meditating on God’s Name with loving devotion, one feels as if he has bathed at all the sacred shrines. ||1||
ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਅਠਾਹਠ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥
ਤੀਰਥੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥.
tirath hamraa har ko naam.
God’s Name is like my sacred shrine of pilgrimage,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਾਡਾ ਤੀਰਥ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur updaysi-aa tat gi-aan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
the Guru has made me understand this true knowledge about spiritual life. ||1||Pause||.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਸਾਨੂੰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਨਿਚੋੜ ਸਮਝਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥
naam lait dukh door paraanaa.
All kinds of sorrow go away by lovingly remembering God’s Name.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਅਤਿ ਮੂੜ ਸੁਗਿਆਨਾ ॥
naam lait at moorh sugi-aanaa.
Even an extremely ignorant person becomes spiritually wise by remembering God’s name with adoration.
ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਭਾਰਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਭੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਸੂਝ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਪਰਗਟਿ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ॥
naam lait pargat ujee-aaraa.
The mind is enlightened with divine wisdom by remembering God’s Name with loving devotion.
ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਛੁਟੇ ਜੰਜਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
naam lait chhutay janjaaraa. ||2||
The bonds of Maya are broken by meditating on Naam with adoration. ||2||
ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ( ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ) ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਜਮੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
naam lait jam nayrh na aavai.
Even the demon (fear) of death doesn’t come near a person who recites God’s Name with loving devotion.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਜਮ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
naam lait dargeh sukh paavai.
By meditating on God’s Name one receives inner peace in God’s presence.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
naam lait parabh kahai saabaas.
God honors that person who lovingly remembers His Name.
ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਭੀ) ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
naam hamaaree saachee raas. ||3||
God’s Name is our everlasting true wealth. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਹਿਓ ਇਹੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥.
gur updays kahi-o ih saar.
The Guru has blessed me with this sublime teaching,
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
har keerat man naam aDhaar.
that singing God’s praises and remembering His Name is the true support of the mind.
ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਮਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਪੁਨਹਚਾਰ ॥
naanak uDhray naam punahchaar.
O’ Nanak, those people swim across the world-ocean of vices, who lovingly remember God’s Name as an act of atonement (for their past sins),
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਵਰਿ ਕਰਮ ਲੋਕਹ ਪਤੀਆਰ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੨੫॥
avar karam lokah patee-aar. ||4||12||25||
and all other deeds of atonements are just false assurances to impress other people. ||4||12||25||
ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ (ਪ੍ਰਾਸ਼ਚਿਤ) ਕਰਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਕਰਾਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਾਂ) ॥੪॥੧੨॥੨੫॥
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Bhairao, Guru:
ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਲਖ ਬਾਰ ॥
namaskaar taa ka-o lakh baar.
We should humbly bow to that God tens of thousands of times,
ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅੱਗੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਵਾਰਿ ॥
ih man deejai taa ka-o vaar.
we should totally surrender to Him,
ਆਪਣਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
simran taa kai miteh santaap.
remembering whom with adoration, all our sufferings and anxiety vanishes,
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪਹਿ ਤਾਪ ॥੧॥
ho-ay anand na vi-aapahi taap. ||1||
and spiritual bliss wells up within and no afflictions affect us. ||1||
(ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੧॥
ਐਸੋ ਹੀਰਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮ ॥
aiso heeraa nirmal naam.
Such a precious jewel is the immaculate Name of God,
ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੀਰਾ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਮ,
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaas japat pooran sabh kaam. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that one’s all spiritual tasks are accomplished by remembering Him. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਦੁਖ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਹੈ ॥
jaa kee darisat dukh dayraa dhahai.
By whose gracious glance, one’s all the sources of woes are eliminated,
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਨਿ ਗਹੈ ॥
amrit naam seetal man gahai.
one who enshrines that God’s ambrosial Name in his mind, the heart of that person becomes cool and calm.
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ) ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਿਕ ਭਗਤ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਪੂਜਾਰੀ ॥
anik bhagat jaa kay charan poojaaree.
Innumerable devotees are meditating on whose immaculate Name,
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਪੂਜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨਹਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
sagal manorath pooranhaaree. ||2||
that God is the fulfiller of all the objectives of his devotees. ||2||
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਊਣੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਿਆ ॥
khin meh oonay subhar bhari-aa.
In an instant, God fills the empty hearts with divine virtues.
(ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਖ਼ਾਲੀ (ਹਿਰਦਿਆਂ) ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ (ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਭਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਕੇ ਕੀਨੇ ਹਰਿਆ ॥
khin meh sookay keenay hari-aa.
In an instant, God spiritually rejuvenates the spiritually dead persos.
(ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੁੱਕੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਕਉ ਦੀਨੋ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
khin meh nithaavay ka-o deeno thaan.
In an instant, God provides His support to the supportless.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਕਉ ਦੀਨੋ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
khin meh nimaanay ka-o deeno maan. ||3||
In an instant, God bestows honor on the one without any honor. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਣ-ਆਦਰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
