ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਹੈ ਮੈਲੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਵਜਲਿ ਫੇਰਾ ॥੩॥
ahaN-buDh durmat hai mailee bin gur bhavjal fayraa. ||3||
Due to arrogance, their intellect is evil and distorted; without the Guru’s teachings, they keep making rounds in the world-ocean of vices. ||3|
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਖੋਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਮੈਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹੋਮ ਜਗ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸਭਿ ਸੰਜਮ ਤਟਿ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
hom jag jap tap sabh sanjam tat tirath nahee paa-i-aa.
No one has ever realized God by performing charitable feasts, worships, all sorts of penance and pilgrimages to sacred shrines.
ਹੋਮ, ਜੱਗ, ਜਪ-ਤਪ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ, ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ, ਕਿਸੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਉਤੇ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ।
ਮਿਟਿਆ ਆਪੁ ਪਏ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਗਤੁ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੪॥
miti-aa aap pa-ay sarnaa-ee gurmukh naanak jagat taraa-i-aa. ||4||1||14||
Those who seek God’s refuge, their egotism vanishes: O’ Nanak! God ferries people across the world ocean of vices by attaching them to the Guru’s teachings.||4||1||14||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੪॥

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਬਨ ਮਹਿ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਮਹਿ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਉਦਾਸਾਏ ॥
ban meh paykhi-o tarin meh paykhi-o garihi paykhi-o udaasaa-ay.
I have visualized God pervading in woods and in vegetation, I have also visualized Him in the householders and in the renunciates.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ, ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਤੇ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,,
ਦੰਡਧਾਰ ਜਟਧਾਰੈ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਵਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਤੀਰਥਾਏ ॥੧॥
dandDhaar jatDhaarai paykhi-o varat naym teerthaa-ay. ||1||
I have visualized Him in yogis carrying their staff and Yogis with matted hair, and in those who keep fasts, do rituals and go on pilgrimages. ||1||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੰਡ-ਧਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ, ਜਟਾ-ਧਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ, ਵਰਤ-ਨੇਮ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਰਥ-ਜਾਤ੍ਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਮਨ ਮਾਏਂ ॥
satsang paykhi-o man maa-ayN.
In the company of saints, when I visualized God in my mind,
ਜਦੋਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ,
ਊਭ ਪਇਆਲ ਸਰਬ ਮਹਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਰਸਿ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
oobh pa-i-aal sarab meh pooran ras mangal gun gaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
then with great pleasure, I sang songs of joy in His praise and realized Him fully pervading in all the skies, the netherworlds, and everyone. ||1||Pause||
ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸ ਪਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੋਗ ਭੇਖ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੈ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਜਤਿ ਜੰਗਮ ਕਾਪੜਾਏ ॥
jog bhaykh sanni-aasai paykhi-o jat jangam kaaprhaa-ay.
I have visualized God pervading the all sects of yogis, the recluse, the celibates, the wandering hermits and the wearers of patched coats.
ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ, ਸਾਰੇ ਭੇਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ, ਜਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ, ਜੰਗਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਕਾਪੜੀਏ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ।
ਤਪੀ ਤਪੀਸੁਰ ਮੁਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਨਟ ਨਾਟਿਕ ਨਿਰਤਾਏ ॥੨॥
tapee tapeesur mun meh paykhi-o nat naatik nirtaa-ay. ||2||
I have visualized Him pervading the ordinary and great penitents, the sages, the actors in the plays and the dances. ||2||
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਪੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ, ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਤਪੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ, ਮੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ, ਨਾਟਕ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਟਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਰਾਸਧਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ॥੨॥
ਚਹੁ ਮਹਿ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਖਟ ਮਹਿ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਦਸ ਅਸਟੀ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾਏ ॥
chahu meh paykhi-o khat meh paykhi-o das astee simmritaa-ay.
I have visualized God in (the teachings of) the four Vedas, the six Shastras, and the eighteen Simrities.
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਰ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਛੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਅਠਾਰਾਂ ਪੁਰਾਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ, (ਸਾਰੀਆਂ) ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ।
ਸਭ ਮਿਲਿ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਵਖਾਨਹਿ ਤਉ ਕਿਸ ਤੇ ਕਹਉ ਦੁਰਾਏ ॥੩॥
sabh mil ayko ayk vakhaaneh ta-o kis tay kaha-o duraa-ay. ||3||
When getting together, all are singing the praises of the same one God, then from whom can I say that He is far away? ||3||
ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ-ਜੰਤ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਬੈਠਾ ਆਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ? ॥੩॥
ਅਗਹ ਅਗਹ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਹ ਕੀਮ ਕੀਮ ਕੀਮਾਏ ॥
agah agah bay-ant su-aamee nah keem keem keemaa-ay.
God is unfathomable and incomprehensible, His worth cannot be estimated.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਥਾਹ ਹੈ, ਅਥਾਹ ਹੈ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਜਿਹ ਘਟਿ ਪਰਗਟੀਆਏ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੫॥
jan naanak tin kai bal bal jaa-ee-ai jih ghat pargatee-aa-ay. ||4||2||15||
O’ Nanak, we should dedicate again and again to those devotees in whose hearts He (God) has become manifest. ||4||2||15||.
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੫॥

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਸੋ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਿਉ ਕਰੈ ॥
nikat bujhai so buraa ki-o karai.
One who deems that God abides near, how can he do any evil deeds?
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਨੇੜੇ (ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਬਿਖੁ ਸੰਚੈ ਨਿਤ ਡਰਤਾ ਫਿਰੈ ॥
bikh sanchai nit dartaa firai.
One who amasses the poisonous worldly wealth, moves around in fear of others.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਡਰਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੈ ਨਿਕਟੇ ਅਰੁ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
hai niktay ar bhayd na paa-i-aa.
God does abide close to all, but nobody has understood His secret,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਤਾਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਭ ਮੋਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
bin satgur sabh mohee maa-i-aa. ||1||
Without the true Guru’s teachings, the entire world is enticed by Maya. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੇ ਮੋਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਨੇੜੈ ਨੇੜੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ॥
nayrhai nayrhai sabh ko kahai.
Everybody says again and again, that God abides near at hand,
ਹਰੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਹੈ (ਸਭ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭੇਦੁ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋ ਲਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gurmukh bhayd virlaa ko lahai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
but only a rare one understands this deep mystery by following the Guru’s teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਦੇਖੈ ਪਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
nikat na daykhai par garihi jaa-ay.
One who doesn’t visualize God near him, goes to another’s home with evil intent,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੇੜੇ-ਵੱਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ, ਉਹ ਪਰਾਏ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ (ਚੋਰੀ ਦੀ ਨੀਅਤ ਨਾਲ) ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦਰਬੁ ਹਿਰੈ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਖਾਇ ॥
darab hirai mithi-aa kar khaa-ay.
He steals other’s wealth and sustains himself by using false means.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਧਨ ਚੁਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਅਤੇ ਝੂਠ ਤੇ ਗੁਜਾਰਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਪਈ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
pa-ee thag-uree har sang na jaani-aa.
The illusionary Maya has influenced him so much, he does not understand that God is always abiding with him.
ਮਾਇਆ-ਠਗਬੂਟੀ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ।
ਬਾਝੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਨਿਆ ॥੨॥
baajh guroo hai bharam bhulaani-aa. ||2||
Without the Guru’s teaching, he is misled by the illusion of Maya. ||2||.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਬੋਲੈ ਕੂੜੁ ॥
nikat na jaanai bolai koorh.
Only that person tells lies who doesn’t realize that God is always with him,
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ,
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਮੂਠਾ ਹੈ ਮੂੜੁ ॥
maa-i-aa mohi moothaa hai moorh.
engrossed in the love for Maya, the fool has been spiritually plundered.
ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਵਲੋ) ਠੱਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਦਿਸੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
antar vasat disantar jaa-ay.
The wealth of Naam is within him, but (for the sake of worldly wealth) he wanders around outside.
ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹ (ਨਿਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਹੀ) ਬਾਹਰ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਝੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ॥੩॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜਗਤ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲਿਲਾਟ ॥
jis mastak karam likhi-aa lilaat.
One who is preordained to receive God’s grace,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਿਲਾਟ ਉਤੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ (ਦਾ ਲੇਖ) ਲਿਖਿਆ ਉੱਘੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਕਪਾਟ ॥
satgur sayvay khulHay kapaat.
he follows the true Guru’s teachings and becomes spiritually enlightened as if the heavy shutters of his mind have opened wide.
ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਵਾੜ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਿਕਟੇ ਸੋਇ ॥
antar baahar niktay so-ay.
And he experiences the same God pervading within, without and near all:
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੬॥
jan naanak aavai na jaavai ko-ay. ||4||3||16||
O’ Nanak, he realizes that the soul does not take birth or die.||4||3||16||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੬॥

ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਉਨੁ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
jis too raakhahi tis ka-un maarai.
O’ God, who can kill the one, whom You protect?
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਬਚਾਏਂ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਸਭ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੈ ॥
sabh tujh hee antar sagal sansaarai.
All the beings in the entire world are under Your control.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੀ (ਉਤਪੱਤੀ) ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੈ।
ਕੋਟਿ ਉਪਾਵ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥
kot upaav chitvat hai paraanee.
The mortal thinks up millions of plans,
ਜੀਵ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀਲੇ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿ ਕਰੈ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ॥੧॥
so hovai je karai choj vidaanee. ||1||
but that alone happens, which the wondrous God does. ||1||.
ਪਰ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅਚਰਜ ਚੋਜ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਰਾਖਹੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
raakho raakho kirpaa Dhaar.
O’ God, bestow mercy and save me,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ,
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਦਰਵਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tayree saran tayrai darvaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I have come to You to seek Your refuge. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
jin sayvi-aa nirbha-o sukh-daata.
One who has always lovingly remembered the fearless God, the benefactor of all comforts and inner peace,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਨਿ ਭਉ ਦੂਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਏਕੁ ਪਰਾਤਾ ॥
tin bha-o door kee-aa ayk paraataa.
has driven away all his fears and has realized Him.
ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣਾ ਹਰੇਕ) ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ।
ਜੋ ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
jo too karahi so-ee fun ho-ay.
O’ God, whatever You do, that alone happens.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਰੈ ਨ ਰਾਖੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
maarai na raakhai doojaa ko-ay. ||2||
There is none other who can kill or save any one. ||2||
ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਕਿਆ ਤੂ ਸੋਚਹਿ ਮਾਣਸ ਬਾਣਿ ॥
ki-aa too socheh maanas baan.
O’ brother, what do you keep thinking with your human thoughts?
ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਤੂੰ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੂੰ ਕੀਹ ਸੋਚਾਂ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ?
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥
antarjaamee purakh sujaan.
Understand that the all pervading omniscient God is very wise.
ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਏਕ ਟੇਕ ਏਕੋ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
ayk tayk ayko aaDhaar.
He alone is our support and protection.
(ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਉਹੀ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
sabh kichh jaanai sirjanhaar. ||3||
The Creator God, knows everything. ||3||
ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
jis oopar nadar karay kartaar.
That person upon whom the Creator bestows grace,
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
