ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਮਾਇਣੁ ॥੧॥
gur sabdee har bhaj surat samaa-in. ||1||
therefore, focus your consciousness on God’s Name through the Guru’s divine word and remember God with adoration.||1||
ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਰਾਇਣੁ ॥
mayray man har bhaj naam naraa-in.
O’ my mind, always recite God’s Name and always lovingly remember Him.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਰਾਇਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har kirpaa karay sukh-daata gurmukh bhavjal har naam taraa-in. ||1|| rahaa-o.
If God, the bestower of inner peace, bestows grace, then one crosses over the world-ocean of vices by remembering God through the Guru’s word. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇ ਹਰੀ ਸੁਖ ਦਾਤਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਾਗਰ ਤਰ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਮੇਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਣੁ ॥
sangat saaDh mayl har gaa-in.
O’ my mind, sing praises of God in the company of the true saints,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੇਲ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ,
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਲੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ॥੨॥
gurmatee lay raam rasaa-in. ||2||
follow the Guru’s teachings and lovingly remember God’s Name, the essence of all the elixirs. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧੂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਇਣੁ ॥
gur saaDhoo amrit gi-aan sar naa-in.
One who immerses his mind in the pool of ambrosial nectar-like spiritual wisdom of the saint-Guru,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਗਏ ਗਾਵਾਇਣੁ ॥੩॥
sabh kilvikh paap ga-ay gaavaa-in. ||3||
all of his sins and bad habits are dispelled and destroyed. ||3||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਸਾਰੇ ਐਬ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਰਾਇਣੁ ॥
too aapay kartaa sarisat Dharaa-in.
O’ God, You Yourself are the Creator and the support of the universe,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ,
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਦਸਾਇਣੁ ॥੪॥੧॥
jan naanak mayl tayraa daas dasaa-in. ||4||1||
bestow mercy and unite Nanak, the servant of Your devotees, with You. ||4||1||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾਈ ਰੱਖ, (ਨਾਨਕ) ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥

Raag Bhairao, Fourth Guru:
ਬੋਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਫਲ ਸਾ ਘਰੀ ॥
bol har naam safal saa gharee.
O’ my mind! that moment becomes fruitful when one recites God’s Name,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਸ ਘੜੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਘੜੀ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਰਹਰੀ ॥੧॥
gur updays sabh dukh parharee. ||1||
therefore, eradicate all your sorrows by meditating on God’s Name through the Guru’s teachings. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਰਹਰੀ ॥
mayray man har bhaj naam narharee.
O’ my mind, lovingly remember God’s Name,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਹਰੀ ਦਾ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ (ਤੇ, ਆਖਿਆ ਕਰ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!)
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਭਉ ਤਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirpaa maylhu gur pooraa satsangat sang sinDh bha-o taree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, whom You unite with the perfect Guru in Your mercy, he crosses over the world-ocean of vices by joining the holy congregation. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹ ਸਤਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰੀ ॥
jagjeevan Dhi-aa-ay man har simree.
O’ brother, always contemplate on God, the life of the universe, and lovingly remember Him in your mind,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ,
ਕੋਟ ਕੋਟੰਤਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਪਰਹਰੀ ॥੨॥
kot kotantar tayray paap parharee. ||2||
God would dispel millions of your sins. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਟਾਨ ਕੋਟ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ॥੨॥
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਰੀ ॥
satsangat saaDh Dhoor mukh paree.
One whose face touches the dust of the feet of the holy congregation and the saints,
ਜਦ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਤੇ ਪੈਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਕੀਓ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਸੁਰਸਰੀ ॥੩॥
isnaan kee-o athsath sursaree. ||3||
feels so immaculate as if he has bathed in all the sacred shrines and the river Ganges. ||3||
ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਅਠਾਹਠ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਗੰਗਾ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੩॥
ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀ ॥
ham moorakh ka-o har kirpaa karee.
God bestowed mercy on a foolish person like me,
ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ,
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਾਰਿਓ ਤਾਰਣ ਹਰੀ ॥੪॥੨॥
jan naanak taari-o taaran haree. ||4||2||
and the savior God ferried me, the devotee Nanak, across the world-ocean of vices. ||4||2||
ਤੇ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੨॥

ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੁ ਜਪਮਾਲੀ ॥
sukarit karnee saar japmaalee.
Remembering God is the most sublime deed, this is the real rosary.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਕੰਮ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਮਾਲਾ।
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਫੇਰਿ ਚਲੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਨਾਲੀ ॥੧॥
hirdai fayr chalai tuDh naalee. ||1||
Remember God in your mind with each bead of the rosary, and the fruit of this would accompany you even after death. ||1||
(ਇਸ ਮਾਲਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਫੇਰਿਆ ਕਰ। ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਥ ਕਰੇਗਾ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਬਨਵਾਲੀ ॥
har har naam japahu banvaalee.
O’ brother, always lovingly remember God of the universe.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਹੁ
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਤੂਟਿ ਗਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਮ ਜਾਲੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirpaa maylhu satsangat toot ga-ee maa-i-aa jam jaalee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, bestowing mercy, whom You unite with the holy congregation, his noose of the love for materialism is snapped. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਘਾਲ ਜਿਨਿ ਘਾਲੀ ॥
gurmukh sayvaa ghaal jin ghaalee.
By following the Guru’s teachings, One who made diligent efforts to lovingly remembered God,
ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕੀਤੀ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਘੜੀਐ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੀ ਟਕਸਾਲੀ ॥੨॥
tis gharhee-ai sabad sachee taksaalee. ||2||
his way of living becomes so immaculate as if he has been fashioned afresh in God’s eternal mint. ||2||
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਦਿਖਾਲੀ ॥
har agam agochar gur agam dikhaalee.
One whom the Guru has revealed the path to visualize the inaccessible and incomprehensible God,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਵਿਚਿ ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰ ਲਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਲੀ ॥੩॥
vich kaa-i-aa nagar laDhaa har bhaalee. ||3||
he has realized God by searching within his own body. ||3||
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ-ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ॥੩॥
ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੀ ॥ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾਰਹੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੀ ॥੪॥੩॥
ham baarik har pitaa partipaalee. jan naanak taarahu nadar nihaalee. ||4||3||
O’ devotee Nanak! pray, O’ God! we are Your children, You are our father and cherisher, bestow mercy and ferry us across the world ocean of vices. ||4||3|
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈਂ। ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ (ਦਾਸਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਓ ॥੪॥੩॥

ਸਭਿ ਘਟ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਸਭਨਾ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sabh ghat tayray too sabhnaa maahi.
O’ God, all humans are Your creations and You pervade amongst all of them.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇਰੇ (ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਏ) ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ (ਇਹਨਾਂ) ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
tujh tay baahar ko-ee naahi. ||1||
No one is outside Your command. ||1||
ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਾਪੁ ॥
har sukh-daata mayray man jaap.
O’ my mind, lovingly remember God, the benefactor of inner peace.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ (ਉਹੀ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਤੂ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਾਪੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ha-o tuDh saalaahee too mayraa har parabh baap. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, You are my true master and my true father, bless me that I may always keep singing Your praises. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਉ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
jah jah daykhaa tah har parabh so-ay.
Wherever I look, I visualize only that God pervading there.
ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਜਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਧਰ ਉਧਰ ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
sabh tayrai vas doojaa avar na ko-ay. ||2||
Everything in the universe is under Your control; there is no other at all. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, (ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
jis ka-o tum har raakhi-aa bhaavai.
O’ God, whoever You like to protect,
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੇਂ,
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਨੇੜੈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
tis kai nayrhai ko-ay na jaavai. ||3||
no one (evil persons or evil thoughts) come near that person. ||3||
ਕੋਈ (ਵੈਰੀ ਆਦਿਕ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਤੂ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸਭ ਤੈ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
too jal thal mahee-al sabh tai bharpoor.
O’ God, You are pervading the waters, the lands, the skies and everywhere.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਹੈਂ ਤੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਾਜਰਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੪॥
jan naanak har jap haajraa hajoor. ||4||4||
O’ devotee Nanak, always lovingly remember God who is ever-present everywhere. ||4||4||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਜੋ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ-ਨਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
har kaa sant har kee har moorat jis hirdai har naam muraar.
God’s devotee within whose heart is enshrined His Name, is the embodiment of God Himself.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ।
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
mastak bhaag hovai jis likhi-aa so gurmat hirdai har naam samHaar. ||1||
But only the one who is preordained, follows the Guru’s teachings and enshrines God’s Name in his heart. ||1||
ਪਰ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਧੁਰੋਂ) ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ (ਦਾ ਲੇਖ) ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
