mehlaa 5.
Fifth Guru:
ਸੁਖ ਸਮੂਹਾ ਭੋਗ ਭੂਮਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਕੋ ਧਣੀ ॥
sukh samoohaa bhog bhoom sabaa-ee ko Dhanee.
Even if one is the master of the entire earth and has all the worldly pleasure to enjoy:
ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇ ਹੋਣ, ਜੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੋਵੇ:
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਭੋ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
naanak habho rog mirtak naam vihooni-aa. ||2||
O’ Nanak! if he is bereft of God’s Name, then all these pleasures are like afflictions and the cause of his spiritual deterioration. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਮੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਰੋਗ (ਸਮਾਨ) ਹਨ ॥੨॥

Fifth Guru:
ਹਿਕਸ ਕੂੰ ਤੂ ਆਹਿ ਪਛਾਣੂ ਭੀ ਹਿਕੁ ਕਰਿ ॥
hikas kooN too aahi pachhaanoo bhee hik kar.
O’ brother, yearn to realize God and make Him your friend.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਰੱਖ, ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਣਾ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਸੜੀ ਨਿਬਾਹਿ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਪਰਥਾਈ ਲਜੀਵਦੋ ॥੩॥
naanak aasrhee nibaahi maanukh parthaa-ee lajeevdo. ||3||
O’ Nanak! God alone can fulfill all your hopes; depending on other human beings becomes the cause of embarrassment. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਣਾ ਲੱਜਾ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

Pauree:
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਏਕੁ ਨਰਾਇਣੋ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਾ ॥
nihchal ayk naaraa-ino har agam agaaDhaa.
O’ brother, only the unfathomable and infinite God is eternal.
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਹਰੀ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ l
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਧਾ ॥
nihchal naam niDhaan hai jis simrat har laaDhaa.
Everlasting is the treasure of God’s Name; God is realized by remembering Him with adoration.
ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਭੀ ਅਮੁੱਕ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਵਾਧਾ ॥
nihchal keertan gun gobind gurmukh gaavaaDhaa.
Singing God’s praises by following the Guru’s teachings is such a treasure which is also everlasting.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਗਾਂਵਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਭੀ (ਐਸਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਤਪੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੋ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਅਰਾਧਾ ॥
sach Dharam tap nihchalo din rain araaDhaa.
Eternal is truth, righteousness and penance, but only that person is blessed with these who has always meditated on God’s Name.
ਸਚ, ਧਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਤਪ ਅਟਲ ਹਨ, (ਪਰ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਹੂੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸਨੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ l
ਦਇਆ ਧਰਮੁ ਤਪੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੋ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰਮਿ ਲਿਖਾਧਾ ॥
da-i-aa Dharam tap nihchalo jis karam likhaaDhaa.
Everlasting compassion, righteousness and penance is received only by that person in whose destiny it is so written by God’s grace.
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਅਟੱਲ ਤਪ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋ ਟਲੈ ਨ ਟਲਾਧਾ ॥
nihchal mastak laykh likhi-aa so talai na talaaDhaa.
What has been written in a person’s destiny is eternal and it cannot be erased even by trying.
ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਲੇਖ ਵੀ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਟਾਲਿਆਂ ਟਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਿਹਚਲ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਬਚਨ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧਾ ॥
nihchal sangat saaDh jan bachan nihchal gur saaDhaa.
Eternal is the company of saints and eternal are the words of the Guru and the true saints.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਭੀ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ-ਸਾਧ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਭੀ ਅਟੱਲ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਾ ॥੧੯॥
jin ka-o poorab likhi-aa tin sadaa sadaa aaraaDhaa. ||19||
Those who have such pre-ordained destiny, have lovingly remembered God forever and ever. ||19||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਧੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੯॥

Shalok, Dakhanay, Fifth Guru:
ਜੋ ਡੁਬੰਦੋ ਆਪਿ ਸੋ ਤਰਾਏ ਕਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਖੇ ॥
jo dubando aap so taraa-ay kinH khay.
He who himself is drowning in the world-ocean of vices, how can he save others?
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਡੁੱਬ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਤਾਰੇਦੜੋ ਭੀ ਤਾਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਰ ਸਿਉ ਰਤਿਆ ॥੧॥
taaraydarho bhee taar naanak pir si-o rati-aa. ||1||
O’ Nanak, those who are truly imbued with the love of the Husband-God, they swim across the worldly ocean of vices and carry others along. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਤੀ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਭੀ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

Fifth Guru:
ਜਿਥੈ ਕੋਇ ਕਥੰਨਿ ਨਾਉ ਸੁਣੰਦੋ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥
jithai ko-ay kathann naa-o sunando maa piree.
Where people are talking about and listening the Name of my husband-God,
ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹੋਣ,
ਮੂੰ ਜੁਲਾਊਂ ਤਥਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਰੀ ਪਸੰਦੋ ਹਰਿਓ ਥੀਓਸਿ ॥੨॥
mooN julaa-ooN tath naanak piree pasando hari-o thee-os. ||2||
O’ Nanak! I wish to go there ( in the holy congregation) and become spiritually rejuvenated by experiencing the blessed vision of my Husband-God. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਉਥੇ ਜਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹਰਿਆ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਵਾਂ ॥੨॥

Fifth Guru:
ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਸਨੇਹ ॥
mayree mayree ki-aa karahi putar kaltar sanayh.
Engrossed in love with your children and your wife; why do you keep calling them your own?
ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਇਹ ਆਖੀ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ?
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣੀਆ ਨਿਮੁਣੀਆਦੀ ਦੇਹ ॥੩॥
naanak naam vihoonee-aa nimunee-aadee dayh. ||3||
O’ Nanak, without Naam, this human body (engrossed in worldly love) is useless like a building with no foundation. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ (ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਇਗਾ) ॥੩॥
ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pauree:
ਨੈਨੀ ਦੇਖਉ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੋ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਥਾ ॥
nainee daykh-a-u gur darsano gur charnee mathaa.
With my eyes, I behold the blessed vision of the Guru and humbly bow before him in complete submission.
ਮੈਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਆਪਣਾ ਮੱਥਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਪੈਰੀ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਚਲਦਾ ਪਖਾ ਫੇਰੀ ਹਥਾ ॥
pairee maarag gur chaldaa pakhaa fayree hathaa.
I walk on the path laid by the Guru and humbly serve the Guru and the holy congregation.
ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਗਤ ਨੂੰ) ਪੱਖਾ ਝੱਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਜਪੰਥਾ ॥
akaal moorat ridai Dhi-aa-idaa din rain japanthaa.
I always lovingly remember the eternal God in my heart and meditate on Naam.
ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਮੈ ਛਡਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਅਪਾਇਣੋ ਭਰਵਾਸੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਮਰਥਾ ॥
mai chhadi-aa sagal apaa-ino bharvaasai gur samrathaa.
I have renounced all my possessiveness, and have placed my faith in the all-powerful Guru.
ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਸਰਧਾ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਅਪਣੱਤ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਬਖਸਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਸਭੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਥਾ ॥
gur bakhsi-aa naam niDhaan sabho dukh lathaa.
The Guru has blessed me with the treasure of God’s Name, and all my sorrow has vanished.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, (ਹੁਣ) ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਲਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਭੋਗਹੁ ਭੁੰਚਹੁ ਭਾਈਹੋ ਪਲੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਗਥਾ ॥
bhogahu bhunchahu bhaa-eeho palai naam agthaa.
O’ my brothers, enjoy and amass the wealth of the indescribable God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! (ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭੀ) ਅਕੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਨੂੰ (ਖੁਲ੍ਹੇ ਦਿਲ) ਵਰਤੋ, ਤੇ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰੋ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਦਿੜੁ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਥਾ ॥
naam daan isnaan dirh sadaa karahu gur kathaa.
Always talk about the Guru’s divine message, meditate on Naam, serve the needy and lead an immaculate life.
ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਕਰੋ, ਨਾਮ ਜਪੋ, ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੋ ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਚਰਨ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਓ।
ਸਹਜੁ ਭਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਲਥਾ ॥੨੦॥
sahj bha-i-aa parabh paa-i-aa jam kaa bha-o lathaa. ||20||
(By doing so), a state of poise has welled up in my mind, I have realized God and my fear of the demon of death has vanished. ||20||
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ) ਮਨ ਦੀ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨੦॥

Shalok, Dakhanay, Fifth Guru:
ਲਗੜੀਆ ਪਿਰੀਅੰਨਿ ਪੇਖੰਦੀਆ ਨਾ ਤਿਪੀਆ ॥
lagrhee-aa piree-ann paykhandee-aa naa tipee-aa.
My eyes are so focused on my Husband-God, that they are never satiated beholding His blessed vision.
(ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ) ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ (ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਰੱਜਦੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ (ਅੱਕਦੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ)।
ਹਭ ਮਝਾਹੂ ਸੋ ਧਣੀ ਬਿਆ ਨ ਡਿਠੋ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
habh majhaahoo so Dhanee bi-aa na ditho ko-ay. ||1||
The Master-God is within all, I have not seen any other like Him. ||1||
ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, (ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ) ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ॥੧॥

Fifth Guru:
ਕਥੜੀਆ ਸੰਤਾਹ ਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਊ ਪੰਧੀਆ ॥
kathrhee-aa santaah tay sukhaa-oo panDhee-aa.
The words (discourses) of the Saints are the path to inner peace,
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼-ਮਈ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਖ ਵਿਖਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਹਨ;
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਧੜੀਆ ਤਿੰਨਾਹ ਜਿਨਾ ਭਾਗੁ ਮਥਾਹੜੈ ॥੨॥
naanak laDh-rhee-aa tinnaah jinaa bhaag mathaaharhai. ||2||
O’ Nanak, only they find these words or discourses, who are predestined with such fortune. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹ ਬਚਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਲਬਧ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

Fifth Guru:
ਡੂੰਗਰਿ ਜਲਾ ਥਲਾ ਭੂਮਿ ਬਨਾ ਫਲ ਕੰਦਰਾ ॥
doongar jalaa thalaa bhoom banaa fal kandraa.
(The same one God is pervading) within all the mountains, oceans, deserts, lands, forests, orchards, caves,
ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਸਮੁੰਦਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਰੇਤਲੇ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ, ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਫਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਗੁਫ਼ਾਂ ਵਿਚ,
ਪਾਤਾਲਾ ਆਕਾਸ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਹਭ ਘਟਾ ॥
paataalaa aakaas pooran habh ghataa.
the nether regions of the world, the skies, and all hearts,
ਪਾਤਾਲ ਆਕਾਸ ਵਿਚ-ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੇਖਿ ਜੀਓ ਇਕਤੁ ਸੂਤਿ ਪਰੋਤੀਆ ॥੩॥
naanak paykh jee-o ikat soot parotee-aa. ||3||
O’ Nanak! I feel spiritually rejuvenated, seeing how God has strung the entire creation on one thread (running the entire creation under one universal law). ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਨੂੰ) ਇਕੋ ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ (ਭਾਵ, ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ, ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਵਿਚ) ਪ੍ਰੋ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕ ॥
har jee maataa har jee pitaa har jee-o partipaalak.
The reverend God is my mother, the reverend God is my father and the reverend God is my sustainer.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ (ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਬਾਲਕ ॥
har jee mayree saar karay ham har kay baalak.
The reverend God takes care of me and we are His children.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਖਿਲਾਇਦਾ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਆਲਕ ॥
sehjay sahj khilaa-idaa nahee kardaa aalak.
My reverend God is making me play the game of life by keeping me in a state of spiritual stability and He never shows any laziness.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੀ ਅਡੋਲ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਖੇਡ ਖਿਡਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਗੱਲੋਂ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ) ਆਲਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਅਉਗਣੁ ਕੋ ਨ ਚਿਤਾਰਦਾ ਗਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਲਾਇਕ ॥
a-ugan ko na chitaardaa gal saytee laa-ik.
He never reminds me of my faults and always keeps me under his protection.
ਮੇਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ, (ਸਦਾ) ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੁਹਿ ਮੰਗਾਂ ਸੋਈ ਦੇਵਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ॥
muhi mangaaN so-ee dayvdaa har pitaa sukh-daa-ik.
Whatever I ask from my mouth, my bliss-giving Father-God gives me that.
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਮੈਂ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਖ-ਦਾਈ ਪਿਤਾ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹੀ ਉਹੀ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
