ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਅਖੜੀਆ ਬਿਅੰਨਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਡਿਸੰਦੋ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੩॥
naanak say akh-rhee-aa bi-ann jinee disando maa piree. ||3||
O’ Nanak, different are those (spiritually enlightened) eyes, through which my Husband-God can be seen. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਅੱਖਾਂ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

Pauree:
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਈ ॥
jin jan gurmukh sayvi-aa tin sabh sukh paa-ee.
One who has lovingly remembered God through the Guru’s teachings, has enjoyed all peace and pleasure.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣ ਲਏ ਹਨ,
ਓਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਿਆ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਿਉ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਤਰਾਈ ॥
oh aap tari-aa kutamb si-o sabh jagat taraa-ee.
He Himself swims across the worldly ocean of vices along with his family; he also helps the entire world to swim across this worldly ocean of vices.
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਮੇਤ ਆਪ ਭੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਸਭ ਤਿਖਾ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
on har naamaa Dhan sanchi-aa sabh tikhaa bujhaa-ee.
He has amassed the wealth of God’s Name, which has satiated his yearning for the materialism.
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਤਨਾ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਿਟਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
ਓਨਿ ਛਡੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਦੁਨੀ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
on chhaday laalach dunee kay antar liv laa-ee.
He has renounced all the worldly greed and has focused his mind on God.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ,ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਓਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਘਰਿ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਖਾ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
os sadaa sadaa ghar anand hai har sakhaa sahaa-ee.
There is always spiritual bliss in his heart, God is his companion, help and support.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ-ਅਨੰਦ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਨਿ ਵੈਰੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮ ਕੀਤਿਆ ਸਭ ਨਾਲਿ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥
on vairee mitar sam keeti-aa sabh naal subhaa-ee.
He has deemed all enemies and friends as alike, and his conduct with all is good.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਤੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਇਕੋ ਜੇਹੇ ਸਮਝ ਲਏ ਹਨ (ਹਰੇਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ), ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਗਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੋਆ ਓਹੀ ਅਲੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਜਪਾਈ ॥
ho-aa ohee al jag meh gur gi-aan japaa-ee.
He has become known in the world by making others contemplate on the Guru’s word of spiritual wisdom.
ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਵਾ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮਣੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ l
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ॥੧੬॥
poorab likhi-aa paa-i-aa har si-o ban aa-ee. ||16||
his preordained destiny is fulfilled, and he has developed good rapport (love) with God. ||16||
ਜੋ ਕੁੱਛ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਧੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਆਈ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥

Dakhanay, Fifth Guru:
ਸਚੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਕਾਢੀਐ ਕੂੜੈ ਕੂੜੀ ਸੋਇ ॥
sach suhaavaa kaadhee-ai koorhai koorhee so-ay.
The wealth of God’s Name is said to be bliss giving and the worldly wealth is associated with the news of conflicts and problems.
ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਵੀ ਧਨ (ਦੇ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ) ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਝਗੜੇ-ਉਪਾਧੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਹੀ ਸੁਣੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਸਚੁ ਪਲੈ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
naanak virlay jaanee-ahi jin sach palai ho-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, very rare are such persons who have amassed the wealth of Naam. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਵਿਰਲੇ ਹੀ ਐਸੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਜਾਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧॥

Fifth Guru:
ਸਜਣ ਮੁਖੁ ਅਨੂਪੁ ਅਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਨਿਹਾਲਸਾ ॥
sajan mukh anoop athay pahar nihaalsaa.
The face of my beloved-God is incomparably beautiful; I wish that I may keep beholding that face at all times .
ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ (ਸੱਜਣ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ) ਵੇਖਦੀ ਰਹਾਂ
ਸੁਤੜੀ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਡਿਠੁ ਤੈ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਹਉ ਖੰਨੀਐ ॥੨॥
sut-rhee so saho dith tai supnay ha-o khannee-ai. ||2||
In sleep, I saw my Master-God in dream; O’ dream, I am dedicated to you. ||2||
ਸੁੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਨੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ) ਵੇਖਿਆ; ਹੇ ਸੁਪਨੇ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ। ( ॥੨॥

Fifth Guru:
ਸਜਣ ਸਚੁ ਪਰਖਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਾਵਣੁ ਥੋਥਰਾ ॥
sajan sach parakh mukh alaavan thothraa.
O my friend, contemplate on the eternal God; simply uttering His Name from mouth is merely a futile exercise.
ਹੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ! (ਨਿਰਾ) ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਆਖਣਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਜਾਚ-ਤੋਲ।
ਮੰਨ ਮਝਾਹੂ ਲਖਿ ਤੁਧਹੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਸੁ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੩॥
man majhaahoo lakh tuDhhu door na so piree. ||3||
Carefully look into your heart, the husband-God is not far from you. ||3||
ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਝਾਤੀ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ, ਉਹ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

Pauree:
ਧਰਤਿ ਆਕਾਸੁ ਪਾਤਾਲੁ ਹੈ ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰੁ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
Dharat aakaas paataal hai chand soor binaasee.
The earth, the sky, the nether regions, the sun and the moon are all perishable.
ਧਰਤੀ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਚੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਜ-ਇਹ ਸਭ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹਨ।
ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ ਸਾਹ ਉਮਰਾਵ ਖਾਨ ਢਾਹਿ ਡੇਰੇ ਜਾਸੀ ॥
baadisaah saah umraav khaan dhaahi dayray jaasee.
All the emperors, rulers, aristocrats, chiefs, and landlords would depart from here, leaving their abodes.
ਸ਼ਾਹ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਮੀਰ ਜਾਗੀਰਦਾਰ (ਸਭ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਹਲ-ਮਾੜੀਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਤੁਰ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
ਰੰਗ ਤੁੰਗ ਗਰੀਬ ਮਸਤ ਸਭੁ ਲੋਕੁ ਸਿਧਾਸੀ ॥
rang tung gareeb masat sabh lok siDhaasee.
The poor, the rich, the humble and the arrogant, all would pass away.
ਕੰਗਾਲ, ਅਮੀਰ, ਗ਼ਰੀਬ, ਮਾਇਆ-ਮੱਤੇ (ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਹੋਵੇ) ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਹੀ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਚਾਲੇ ਪਾ ਜਾਇਗਾ।
ਕਾਜੀ ਸੇਖ ਮਸਾਇਕਾ ਸਭੇ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਸੀ ॥
kaajee saykh masaa-ikaa sabhay uth jaasee.
All the Qazis, Sheikhs, and Masayak (preachers) would depart from here.
ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਸ਼ੇਖ਼ ਆਦਿਕ ਭੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਕੂਚ ਕਰ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
ਪੀਰ ਪੈਕਾਬਰ ਅਉਲੀਏ ਕੋ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਾਸੀ ॥
peer paikaabar a-ulee-ay ko thir na rahaasee.
The spiritual teachers, prophets and disciples, none of these shall remain here forever.
ਪੀਰ ਪੈਗ਼ੰਬਰ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਆਗੂ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਇਥੇ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
ਰੋਜਾ ਬਾਗ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਕਤੇਬ ਵਿਣੁ ਬੁਝੇ ਸਭ ਜਾਸੀ ॥
rojaa baag nivaaj katayb vin bujhay sabh jaasee.
Those who observed fasts, called others to prayer, said prayers, read the holy books and even those who did not understand these rituals would depar.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੋਜ਼ੇ ਰੱਖੇ, ਬਾਂਗਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ, ਨਿਮਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ, ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਪੜ੍ਹੇ ਉਹ ਭੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਸਮਝੀ ਉਹ ਭੀ ਸਾਰੇ (ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮੇਦਨੀ ਸਭ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਸੀ ॥
lakh cha-oraaseeh maydnee sabh aavai jaasee.
The living beings in millions of species of the world shall continue coming and going in reincarnations.
ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਇਥੋਂ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਏਕੁ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਬੰਦਾ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥੧੭॥
nihchal sach khudaa-ay ayk khudaa-ay bandaa abhinaasee. ||17||
God alone is eternal; the true devotee of God does not fall into the cycle of birth and death. ||17||
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਸੱਚਾ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਦਾ ਬੰਦਾ (ਭਗਤ) ਭੀ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ॥੧੭॥

Dakhanay, Fifth Guru:
ਡਿਠੀ ਹਭ ਢੰਢੋਲਿ ਹਿਕਸੁ ਬਾਝੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
dithee habh dhandhol hikas baajh na ko-ay.
I have searched the world, and nothing except God gives me inner peace.
ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ।
ਆਉ ਸਜਣ ਤੂ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਗੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਠੰਢਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
aa-o sajan too mukh lag mayraa tan man thandhaa ho-ay. ||1||
O’ dear God, show me Your blessed vision, so that my body and mind may feel calm. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆ, ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਹ, (ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ) ਮੇਰੇ ਤਨ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਢ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Fifth Guru:
ਆਸਕੁ ਆਸਾ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਮੂ ਮਨਿ ਵਡੀ ਆਸ ॥
aasak aasaa baahraa moo man vadee aas.
O’ God, only that person can be Your true lover who is without worldly hopes, but within my mind are great hopes,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਉਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਦੁਨੀਆਵੀ ਆਸਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਖਦਾ, ਪਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਹਨ,
ਆਸ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ਹਿਕੁ ਤੂ ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਗਈਆਸ ॥੨॥
aas niraasaa hik too ha-o bal bal bal ga-ee-aas. ||2||
only You can free me from these worldly desires, I am totally dedicated to you. ||2||
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਦੁਨੀਆਵੀ) ਆਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਹੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥

Fifth Guru:
ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਸੁਣੇ ਡੁਖੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਡਿਠੇ ਮਰਿਓਦਿ ॥
vichhorhaa sunay dukh vin dithay mari-od.
Even the mention of separation from God gives his lover pangs, without seeing Him, he feels spiritually dead.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੈ। ਦੀਦਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਝੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਿਰਹੀ ਨਾ ਧੀਰੋਦਿ ॥੩॥
baajh pi-aaray aapnay birhee naa Dheerod. ||3||
Without meeting the beloved-God, His separated lover is not consoled. ||3||
ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਖਲੋਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਦੇਵ ਦੇਵਾਲਿਆ ਕੇਦਾਰੁ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਕਾਸੀ ॥

The sacred river banks, pilgrimage places, gods and their temples, such as Kedar Nath, Mathura, and Kaashi,
ਨਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ,ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ, ਕੇਦਾਰ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੀਰਥ,
ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸਾ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਸਣੁ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੈ ਜਾਸੀ ॥
kot tayteesaa dayvtay san indrai jaasee.
millions of angels along with god Indira would disappear from the world.
ਤੇਤੀ ਕਰੋੜ ਦੇਵਤੇ, ਇੰਦਰ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਭੀ-ਆਖ਼ਰ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹਨ।
ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਚਾਰਿ ਖਟੁ ਦਰਸ ਸਮਾਸੀ ॥
simrit saastar bayd chaar khat daras samaasee.
The Simritis, Shastras, the four Vedas and six systems (of yoga) shall vanish.
ਚਾਰ ਵੇਦ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ (ਦੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਤੇ ਛਿਆਂ ਭੇਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਭੀ ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਲ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
ਪੋਥੀ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਗੀਤ ਕਵਿਤ ਕਵਤੇ ਭੀ ਜਾਸੀ ॥
pothee pandit geet kavit kavtay bhee jaasee.
The readers of holy books, pundits, songs, poems and poets too shall depart.
ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ, ਗੀਤਾਂ ਕਵਿਤਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਿਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਵੀ ਭੀ ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਕੂਚ ਕਰ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀਆ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਵਾਸੀ ॥
jatee satee sanni-aasee-aa sabh kaalai vaasee.
The celibates, the men of charity, and the renouncers, all are subject to death.
ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ-ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਭੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹਨ।
ਮੁਨਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਦਿਗੰਬਰਾ ਜਮੈ ਸਣੁ ਜਾਸੀ ॥
mun jogee digambraa jamai san jaasee.
The silent sages, the yogis, and the nude saints, along with the demon of death, all would vanish.
ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ ਲਾਵਣ ਵਾਲੇ, ਜੋਗੀ, ਨਾਂਗੇ, ਜਮਦੂਤ-ਇਹ ਭੀ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹਨ।
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਵਿਣਸਣਾ ਸਭ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
jo deesai so vinsanaa sabh binas binaasee.
Whatever is visible, all would perish one day.
ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਥਿਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਸੀ ॥੧੮॥
thir paarbarahm parmaysaro sayvak thir hosee. ||18||
Only the supreme, transcendent God, is eternal, His devotee also becomes spiritually stable and free from birth and death. ||18||
ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੇਵਲ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਭੀ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੮॥
ਸਲੋਕ ਡਖਣੇ ਮਃ ੫ ॥
salok dakh-nay mehlaa 5.
Shalok Dakhanay, Fifth Guru:
ਸੈ ਨੰਗੇ ਨਹ ਨੰਗ ਭੁਖੇ ਲਖ ਨ ਭੁਖਿਆ ॥
sai nangay nah nang bhukhay lakh na bhukhi-aa.
That person does not care even if he has to remain Naked hundreds of time, hunger does not bother him even if he remains hungry thousands of times,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਨੰਗ ਦੀ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਚਾਹੇ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਵਾਰੀ ਨੰਗਾ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਪਏ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੁੱਭਦੀ ਚਾਹੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਭੁੱਖਾ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਪਏ।
ਡੁਖੇ ਕੋੜਿ ਨ ਡੁਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਰੀ ਪਿਖੰਦੋ ਸੁਭ ਦਿਸਟਿ ॥੧॥
dukhay korh na dukh naanak piree pikhando subh disat. ||1||
and millions of sorrows do not make him suffer, O Nanak, upon whom the Husband God bestows gracious glance. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਲ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਸਵੱਲੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਂਹਦਾ ਚਾਹੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਾਪਰਨ ॥੧॥
