ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਅਨਿ ਤਿਤੈ ਲਗਦੀਆ ਨਹ ਖਿੰਜੋਤਾੜਾ ॥
jit laa-ee-an titai lagdee-aa nah khinjotaarhaa.
Now, they do whatever I ask them to do, and there is no conflict.
ਹੁਣ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੇ ਲਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਧਰ ਹੀ ਲੱਗਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਖਿੱਚੋਤਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ (ਕਰਦੀਆਂ)।
ਜੋ ਇਛੀ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਾੜਾ ॥
jo ichhee so fal paa-idaa gur andar vaarhaa.
The Guru has turned my mind inwards towards God, and now I receive the fruits of my desires.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ) ਅੰਦਰ ਵਲ ਪਰਤਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਇੱਛਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਹੀ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਭਾਇਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਦਾ ਨੇੜਾ ॥੧੦॥
gur naanak tuthaa bhaa-irahu har vasdaa nayrhaa. ||10||
O’ brothers! Guru Nanak has become gracious upon me, and now I experience God dwelling besides me. ||10||
ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥

Dakhanay, Fifth Guru:
ਜਾ ਮੂੰ ਆਵਹਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਤੂ ਤਾ ਹਭੇ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਾਉ ॥
jaa mooN aavahi chit too taa habhay sukh lahaa-o.
O’ God, when You manifest in my mind, I receive inner peace and comforts.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮੰਝਿ ਰੰਗਾਵਲਾ ਪਿਰੀ ਤਹਿਜਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥
naanak man hee manjh rangvaalaa piree tahijaa naa-o. ||1||
O’ my husband God! Your Name within Nanak’s mind is very pleasing. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Fifth Guru:
ਕਪੜ ਭੋਗ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਏ ਹਭੇ ਹੀ ਛਾਰ ॥
kaparh bhog vikaar ay habhay hee chhaar.
Worldly pleasures like beautiful clothes and fancy food (without remembering God) produce evil thoughts, therefore, all these are useless like ashes.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਰਵੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਖਾਣ-ਹੰਢਾਣ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਸਮਾਨ ਹਨ ।
ਖਾਕੁ ਲੋੁੜੇਦਾ ਤੰਨਿ ਖੇ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ॥੨॥
khaak lorhaydaa tann khay jo ratay deedaar. ||2||
I only seek the dust from the feet (spiritual guidance) of those who are imbued with the love of experiencing the blessed vision of God. ||2||
(ਤਾਹੀਏਂ) ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਭਾਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ॥੨॥

Fifth Guru:
ਕਿਆ ਤਕਹਿ ਬਿਆ ਪਾਸ ਕਰਿ ਹੀਅੜੇ ਹਿਕੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
ki-aa takeh bi-aa paas kar hee-arhay hik aDhaar.
O’ my mind! (forsaking God), why do you look towards others? Make God as your only support,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਆਸਰੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਤੱਕਦੀ ਹੈਂ? ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾ।
ਥੀਉ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਭੀ ਸੁਖ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
thee-o santan kee rayn jit labhee sukh daataar. ||3||
and follow the teachings of God’s saints as if you have become the dust of their feet; by doing that you may realize God, the giver of peace and comforts. ||3||
(ਤੇ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ॥੩॥

Pauree:
ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਨੂਆ ਨ ਲਗੈ ॥
vin karmaa har jee-o na paa-ee-ai bin satgur manoo-aa na lagai.
God is not realized without His grace and the mind does not get focused on remembering God without the true Guru’s teachings.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਧਰਮੁ ਧੀਰਾ ਕਲਿ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਇਹੁ ਪਾਪੀ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਤਗੈ ॥
Dharam Dheeraa kal andray ih paapee mool na tagai.
Only righteousness remains stable in Kalyug, but this sinner mind does not stick to righteousness at all.
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਮ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਪਾਪੀ ਮਨ ਧਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕਦਾ.
ਅਹਿ ਕਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਅਹਿ ਕਰੁ ਪਾਏ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਨ ਲਗੈ ॥
ah kar karay so ah kar paa-ay ik gharhee muhat na lagai.
Whatever one does with this hand, obtains the consequence of it with the other hand without a moment’s delay.
(ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਨਸਕ ਸਿੱਟਾ ਨਿਕਲਦਿਆਂ) ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਸਮਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਇਹ ਹੱਥ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਇਹੀ ਹੱਥ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਚਾਰੇ ਜੁਗ ਮੈ ਸੋਧਿਆ ਵਿਣੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਨ ਭਗੈ ॥
chaaray jug mai soDhi-aa vin sangat ahaNkaar na bhagai.
After studying all the four ages, I have concluded that the egotism does not depart without joining the holy congregation.
ਚੌਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਸੰਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਛੁਟਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਤਸੰਗੈ ॥
ha-umai mool na chhut-ee vin saaDhoo satsangai.
Yes, the egotism is never eradicated without the company of the saintly persons.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਤਿਚਰੁ ਥਾਹ ਨ ਪਾਵਈ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿਉ ਮਨ ਭੰਗੈ ॥
tichar thaah na paav-ee jichar saahib si-o man bhangai.
As long as one’s mind remains torn away from God, till then he cannot find the depth of His virtues.
ਜਦ ਤਕ ਮਾਲਕ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿੱਥ ਹੈ ਤਦ ਤਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਘਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਅਭਗੈ ॥
jin jan gurmukh sayvi-aa tis ghar deebaan abhgai.
The devotee who lovingly remembered God through the Guru’s teachings, have the support of the imperishable God in his heart.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਅਬਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਗੈ ॥੧੧॥
har kirpaa tay sukh paa-i-aa gur satgur charnee lagai. ||11||
Only by God’s grace, one follows the true Guru’s divine word and receives the inner peace. ||11||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥

Dakhanay, Fifth Guru:
ਲੋੜੀਦੋ ਹਭ ਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਮੀਰਾ ਮੀਰੰਨ ਸਿਰਿ ॥
lorheedo habh jaa-ay so meeraa meerann sir.
God, the sovereign King is the king of all and is sought after everywhere.
ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਲੋੜਿਆ (ਚਾਹਿਆ) ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਹਠ ਮੰਝਾਹੂ ਸੋ ਧਣੀ ਚਉਦੋ ਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
hath manjhaahoo so Dhanee cha-udo mukh alaa-ay. ||1||
When I recite God’s virtues with my mouth, I realize Him within my heart. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Fifth Guru:
ਮਾਣਿਕੂ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਉ ਡਿੰਨਾ ਧਣੀ ਅਪਾਹਿ ॥
maanikoo mohi maa-o dinnaa Dhanee apaahi.
O’ my mother, on His own, God blessed me with His jewel-like Name.
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ-ਮੋਤੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਹਿਆਉ ਮਹਿਜਾ ਠੰਢੜਾ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਸਚੁ ਅਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
hi-aa-o mahijaa thandh-rhaa mukhahu sach alaa-ay. ||2||
My heart is calmed by reciting the eternal God’s Name from my mouth. ||2||
ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰ ਉਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

Fifth Guru:
ਮੂ ਥੀਆਊ ਸੇਜ ਨੈਣਾ ਪਿਰੀ ਵਿਛਾਵਣਾ ॥
moo thee-aa-oo sayj nainaa piree vichhaavnaa.
I have made my heart like a bed and my eyes like a bed sheet for my husband-God.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ (ਦੇ ਬਿਰਾਜਣ) ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੇਜ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਉਸ ਸੇਜ ਦਾ) ਵਿਛਾਉਣਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਜੇ ਡੇਖੈ ਹਿਕ ਵਾਰ ਤਾ ਸੁਖ ਕੀਮਾ ਹੂ ਬਾਹਰੇ ॥੩॥
jay daykhai hik vaar taa sukh keemaa hoo baahray. ||3||
If He looks at me even once, then I feel as if I have received inner peace and comforts which are beyond any price. ||3||
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਇਕ ਵਾਰੀ ਭੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਲ) ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਸੁਖ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੩॥

Pauree:
ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਣ ਕਉ ਕਿਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਈਆ ॥
man lochai har milan ka-o ki-o darsan paa-ee-aa.
My mind is craving to realize God, (but I wonder that) how can I experience His blessed vision?
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਬੜਾ ਤਰਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਕਿ) ਕਿਵੇਂ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਾਂ।
ਮੈ ਲਖ ਵਿੜਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਜੇ ਬਿੰਦ ਬੋੁਲਾਈਆ ॥
mai lakh virh-tay saahibaa jay bind bolaa-ee-aa.
O’ God! if You speak to me (call me to Your presence) for an instant, I would feel as if I have earned a huge amount of wealth.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਾਲਕ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਵਾਜ ਮਾਰੇਂ ਤਾਂ (ਮੈਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਰੁਪਏ ਖੱਟ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
ਮੈ ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਭਾਲੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਨ ਸਾਈਆ ॥
mai chaaray kundaa bhaalee-aa tuDh jayvad na saa-ee-aa.
O’ God! I have searched everywhere, but there is no one as great as You.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਈਂ! ਮੈਂ ਚੁਫੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਖੋਜ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੇਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਮੈ ਦਸਿਹੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸੰਤਹੋ ਕਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਈਆ ॥
mai dasihu maarag santaho ki-o parabhoo milaa-ee-aa.
O’ saints, show me the way, and tell me how I can realize God?
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! (ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੀ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰਾਹ ਦੱਸੋ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮਿਲਾਂ।
ਮਨੁ ਅਰਪਿਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਜਹੁ ਇਤੁ ਪੰਥਿ ਜੁਲਾਈਆ ॥
man arpihu ha-umai tajahu it panth julaa-ee-aa.
(The saints tell that) the way is to surrender the mind to God and shed ego, and walk on this path.
(ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਰਾਹ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਮਨ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰੋ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੋ (ਤੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਇਸ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਾਂ।
ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਈਆ ॥
nit sayvihu saahib aapnaa satsang milaa-ee-aa.
The saints also tell me to always remember my Master-God with adoration by Joining the holy Congregation.
(ਸੰਤ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੋ (ਤੇ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾਂ।
ਸਭੇ ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਗੁਰ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਈਆ ॥
sabhay aasaa pooree-aa gur mahal bulaa-ee-aa.
All my hopes are fulfilled, God has called me to His Presence.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਜ਼ੁਰੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਉਮੈਦਾ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੋੁਸਾਈਆ ॥੧੨॥
tuDh jayvad hor na sujh-ee mayray mitar gosaa-ee-aa. ||12||
O’ God! my friend and master of the earth, I cannot conceive of any other as great as You. ||12||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ! ਹੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੇਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੧੨॥

Dakhanay, Fifth Guru:
ਮੂ ਥੀਆਊ ਤਖਤੁ ਪਿਰੀ ਮਹਿੰਜੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ॥
moo thee-aa-oo takhat piree mahinjay paatisaah.
O’ my Husband-God! the sovereign king, (I wish that) my heart may become throne for You to sit on.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਤੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਬੈਠਣ ਲਈ) ਮੈਂ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵਾਂ.
ਪਾਵ ਮਿਲਾਵੇ ਕੋਲਿ ਕਵਲ ਜਿਵੈ ਬਿਗਸਾਵਦੋ ॥੧॥
paav milaavay kol kaval jivai bigsaavdo. ||1||
When Your feet (immaculate Name) touch my heart, it blossoms like a lotus flower. ||1||
ਜਦ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਛੁਹਾਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਕਵਲ ਵਾਂਗ ਖਿੜ ਜਾਵਾਂ ॥੧॥

Fifth Guru:
ਪਿਰੀਆ ਸੰਦੜੀ ਭੁਖ ਮੂ ਲਾਵਣ ਥੀ ਵਿਥਰਾ ॥
piree-aa sand-rhee bhukh moo laavan thee vithraa.
If my beloved Husband-God feels hungry, I wish to become like a spicy food;
ਜੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਖ ਲਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਮਿਟਾਣ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਸਲੂਣਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਵਾਂ।
ਜਾਣੁ ਮਿਠਾਈ ਇਖ ਬੇਈ ਪੀੜੇ ਨਾ ਹੁਟੈ ॥੨॥
jaan mithaa-ee ikh bay-ee peerhay naa hutai. ||2||
to satisfy His thirst, I wish to be like-sugarcane which does not stop giving sweet juice when crushed again and again. ||2||
ਮੈਂ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਗੰਨੇ ਦੀ ਮਿਠਾਸ ਬਣਨਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਲਵਾਂ ਕਿ (ਗੰਨੇ ਨੂੰ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਪੀਤਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕੇ ॥੨॥

Fifth Guru:
ਠਗਾ ਨੀਹੁ ਮਤ੍ਰੋੜਿ ਜਾਣੁ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬਾ ਨਗਰੀ ॥
thagaa neehu matrorh jaan ganDharbaa nagree.
O’ brother, break off your love with the vices and deem this world as an illusion like a city of smoke in the sky.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ, ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਠੱਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤੀ ਤੋੜ, ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਮਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਦੇ ਧੋਖੇ ਨਾਲ ਦਿੱਸਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਗਰ, ਸਮਝ l
ਸੁਖ ਘਟਾਊ ਡੂਇ ਇਸੁ ਪੰਧਾਣੂ ਘਰ ਘਣੇ ॥੩॥
sukh ghataa-oo doo-ay is panDhaanoo ghar ghanay. ||3||
The short lived enjoyment from indulging in vices makes one wander through countless incarnations like a traveller through many homes. ||3||
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ) ਦੋ ਘੜੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ (ਮਾਣਿਆਂ) ਇਸ ਜੀਵ-ਰਾਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ (ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥

Pauree:
ਅਕਲ ਕਲਾ ਨਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਲਖ ਅਲੇਖੰ ॥
akal kalaa nah paa-ee-ai parabh alakh alaykhaN.
God is not realized by intellect; He is incomprehensible and invisible.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਕਲ ਕਲਾ (ਭਾਵ ਚੰਗੇ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਅਲੱਖ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ।
