ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
thaan thanantar antarjaamee.
God, who knows everyone’s inner thoughts, is present in all places
ਉਸ ਪੂਰਨ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਗਣਤ ਮਿਟਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
simar simar pooran parmaysur chintaa ganat mitaa-ee hay. ||8||
By remembering that perfect God, one eradicates his worry and fear.||8||
ਸਭ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਮਿਟਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੋਟਿ ਲਖ ਬਾਹਾ ॥
har kaa naam kot lakh baahaa.
The support of God’s Name is like the support provided by millions of arms.
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਟਾਕਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਭਰਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਧਨੁ ਤਾਹਾ ॥
har jas keertan sang Dhan taahaa.
Singing God’s praises becomes the person’s spiritual wealth,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਜਸ-ਕੀਰਤਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਧਨ ਹੈ।
ਗਿਆਨ ਖੜਗੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀਨਾ ਦੂਤ ਮਾਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਧਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
gi-aan kharhag kar kirpaa deenaa doot maaray kar Dhaa-ee hay. ||9||
God, in his mercy, blesses him with the sword-like spiritual wisdom so that he is able to attack and destroy his own evil passions.||9||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੱਲਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਜਾਪੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਜਪੁ ਜਪਨੇ ॥
har kaa jaap japahu jap japnay.
O’ brother, recite God’s Name, for it’s recital alone is worthy of recitation.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਇਹੀ ਜਪਣ-ਜੋਗ ਜਪ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਤਿ ਆਵਹੁ ਵਸਹੁ ਘਰਿ ਅਪਨੇ ॥
jeet aavhu vashu ghar apnay.
Your mind will return within to stay by conquering the evil passions.
(ਇਸ ਜਪ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹੋਗੇ।
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਨਰਕ ਨ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
lakh cha-oraaseeh narak na daykhhu rasak rasak gun gaa-ee hay. ||10||
By singing God’s praises with love and devotion, you will not have to suffer the pain of many million successive births and rebirths.||10||
ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਰਕ ਵੇਖਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਣਗੇ। (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਉਧਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
khand barahmand uDhaaranhaaraa.
God is the savior of continents and universes.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਖੰਡਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ।
ਊਚ ਅਥਾਹ ਅਗੰਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
ooch athaah agamm apaaraa.
God is the highest of the high, unfathomable, inaccessible, and infinite.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਅਥਾਹ ਹੈ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
jis no kirpaa karay parabh apnee so jan tiseh Dhi-aa-ee hay. ||11||
The devotee who is blessed by God’s mercy, meditates upon Him||11||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੋਲੇ ॥
banDhan torh lee-ay parabh molay.
God has shattered the devotee’s bonds of Maya and made him His own.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਨੇ ਘਰ ਗੋਲੇ ॥
kar kirpaa keenay ghar golay.
God has blessed and has made that person as His humble devotee.
ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ,
ਅਨਹਦ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੁ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
anhad run jhunkaar sahj Dhun saachee kaar kamaa-ee hay. ||12||
He focuses on the true task of reciting God’s Name and sings God’s virtues in a continuous celestial music which resonates in his heart. ||12||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਤਾਰ ਬੱਝੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਸੁਰੀਲਾ ਰਾਗ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
ਮਨਿ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਬਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
man parteet banee parabh tayree.
O’ God, when a person enshrines within his mind his faith in you,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਤਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥
binas ga-ee ha-umai mat mayree.
His ego and attachment to worldly possessions vanishes.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਭ ਸੁਹਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
angeekaar kee-aa parabh apnai jag meh sobh suhaa-ee hay. ||13||
When God accepts a devotee as His own, the devotee’s glory shines through the world. ||13||
ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਭਾ ਚਮਕ ਪਈ ॥੧੩॥
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਜਗਦੀਸੈ ॥
jai jai kaar japahu jagdeesai.
O’ brother, hail the glory of God and lovingly remember the master-God of the universe.
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ।
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਈਸੈ ॥
bal bal jaa-ee parabh apunay eesai.
I dedicate myself to my master-God.
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਏਕਾ ਜਗਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
tis bin doojaa avar na deesai aykaa jagat sabaa-ee hay. ||14||
Except God, I see no one who is equal to Him; He alone pervades the entire world. ||14||
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ। ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਇਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
sat sat sat parabh jaataa.
The person who has realized the true and eternal God
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਜਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
gur parsaad sadaa man raataa.
By the Guru’s grace, his mind remains imbued with His love.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
simar simar jeeveh jan tayray aykankaar samaa-ee hay. ||15||
O God! your devotees remain spiritually alive by remembering your name; they remain absorbed in your all pervading, unchanging presence. ||15||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੫॥
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
bhagat janaa kaa pareetam pi-aaraa.
God is the beloved of His humble devotees.
ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਭੈ ਉਧਾਰਣੁ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
sabhai uDhaaran khasam hamaaraa.
He, our Master, is the Savior of all.
ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਸਭ ਇਛਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੧॥
simar naam punnee sabh ichhaa jan naanak paij rakhaa-ee hay. ||16||1||
O’ Nanak, by remembering His Name, all wishes are fulfilled; He preserves the honor of His humble devotees. ||16||1||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥੧॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਗੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਲਪਟਾਣੀ ॥
sangee jogee naar laptaanee.
The body clings to the soul like a bride clings to her husband.
(ਇਹ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਰਕਤ) ਜੋਗੀ (ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਕਾਇਆਂ-) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਥੀ (ਜਦੋਂ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਕਾਇਆਂ-) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਇਸ ਨਾਲ) ਲਪਟੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਾਂਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹੀ ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਮਾਣੀ ॥
urajh rahee rang ras maanee.
and keeps enjoying the pleasures of materialism.
(ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਿਰਤ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਭਏ ਇਕਤ੍ਰਾ ਕਰਤੇ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
kirat sanjogee bha-ay iktaraa kartay bhog bilaasaa hay. ||1||
Their actions in previous births have brought the body and soul together to enjoy the worldly pleasures.||1||
ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਜੋਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਇਹ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਇਆਂ) ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ, (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਜੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਧਨ ਤਤੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
jo pir karai so Dhan tat maanai.
The bride (body) readily accepts what the husband (soul) does.
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ-ਪਤੀ ਕਾਇਆਂ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਤੁਰਤ ਮੰਨਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਿਰੁ ਧਨਹਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿ ਰਖੈ ਸੰਗਾਨੈ ॥
pir dhaneh seegaar rakhai sangaanai.
The husband (the soul) decorates the bride (the body) and keeps her close to himself.
ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ-ਪਤੀ ਕਾਇਆਂ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਜਾ-ਸੰਵਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਏਕਤ੍ਰ ਵਸਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਦੇ ਧਨਹਿ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
mil ayktar vaseh din raatee pari-o day dhaneh dilaasaa hay. ||2||
Having come together, they always stay together; the husband ( soul) providing comfort to the bride (body).||2||
ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਇਹ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ-ਪਤੀ ਕਾਇਆਂ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ (ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ) ਹੌਸਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਧਨ ਮਾਗੈ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
Dhan maagai pari-o baho biDh Dhaavai.
When the bride (body) asks for something, the husband (soul) runs to get it by various means.
ਕਾਇਆਂ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਭੀ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ) ਮੰਗਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਉਹ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ-ਪਤੀ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਆਣਿ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ॥
jo paavai so aan dikhaavai.
He brings whatever he finds to show it to her.
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੀ ਕਾਇਆਂ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ) ਵਿਖਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਏਕ ਵਸਤੁ ਕਉ ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਧਨ ਰਹਤੀ ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
ayk vasat ka-o pahuch na saakai Dhan rahtee bhookh pi-aasaa hay. ||3||
But by searching he (soul) cannot acquire and bring God’s Name for her; without God’s Name, she (body) remains yearning for material things. ||3||
(ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਮ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਨਾਮ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕਾਇਆਂ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਧਨ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਨਉ ਦੋਊ ਕਰ ਜੋਰੈ ॥
Dhan karai bin-o do-oo kar jorai.
With folded hands, the bride (body) makes a request:
ਕਾਇਆਂ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ-ਪਤੀ ਅੱਗੇ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ-
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪਰਦੇਸਿ ਨ ਜਾਹੁ ਵਸਹੁ ਘਰਿ ਮੋਰੈ ॥
pari-a pardays na jaahu vashu ghar morai.
O my beloved, do not go away, please stay here with me.
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਤੁਰ ਜਾਈਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੀਂ।
ਐਸਾ ਬਣਜੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
aisaa banaj karahu garih bheetar jit utrai bhookh pi-aasaa hay. ||4||
Remaining within the body, conduct such deeds that my longing for materialism is satisfied.||4||
ਇਸੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਮਿਟਦੀ ਰਹੇ (ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿਣ) ॥੪॥
ਸਗਲੇ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਜੁਗ ਸਾਧਾ ॥
saglay karam Dharam jug saaDhaa.
People have been performing religious rituals throughout the ages,
ਸਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਲੋਕ ਮਿਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਆਏ ਹਨ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਸੁਖੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਲਾਧਾ ॥
bin har ras sukh til nahee laaDhaa.
but they have not found any peace without tasting the nectar of God’s Name.
ਪਰ,ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਾ।
ਭਈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਸੰਗੇ ਤਉ ਧਨ ਪਿਰ ਅਨੰਦ ਉਲਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
bha-ee kirpaa naanak satsangay ta-o Dhan pir anand ulaasaa hay. ||5||
O’ Nanak, when God bestows mercy, they unite with the holy congregation and enjoy spiritual bliss by reciting God’s Name.||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਕਾਇਆਂ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੫॥
