ਆਸ ਮਨੋਰਥੁ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਭੇਟਤ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
aas manorath pooran hovai bhaytat gur darsaa-i-aa jee-o. ||2||
His hopes and desires are fulfilled, upon having a Vision of the Guru.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਿਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
agam agochar kichh mit nahee jaanee.
The limits of the Inaccessible and Unfathomable God cannot be known.
ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
saaDhik siDh Dhi-aavahi gi-aanee.
Yoga-practitioners, the accomplished yogis, and divine scholars meditate on Him
ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੋਗੀ, ਪੁੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੋਗੀ, ਗਿਆਨ-ਵਾਨ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।)
ਖੁਦੀ ਮਿਟੀ ਚੂਕਾ ਭੋਲਾਵਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
khudee mitee chookaa bholaavaa gur man hee meh paragtaa-i-aa jee-o. ||3||
God is revealed By the Guru in the mind of the devotee whose self-conceit is erased and doubt is removed.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ l
ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
anad mangal kali-aan niDhaanaa.
The treasures of bliss and joy comes to his mind, and he is liberated from the bonds of Maya.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਖਸ਼ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਨਾ ॥
sookh sahj har naam vakhaanaa.
The one who has remembered God, peace and poise comes in his mind.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੩੨॥
ho-ay kirpal suamee apnaa naa-o nanak ghar mein aa-i-aa jee-o. ||4||25||32||
O’ Nanak, on whom our Master becomes merciful, Naam comes to reside in that person’s heart.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ l

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੋਇ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
sun sun jeevaa so-ay tumaaree.
O’ God, listening repeatedly about your praises, I feel spiritually rejuvenated.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
tooN pareetam thaakur at bhaaree.
You are my Beloved Supreme Master.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ (ਮਾਲਕ) ਹੈਂ।
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਓਟ ਗੋੁਪਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tumray kartab tum hee jaanhu tumree ot gopaalaa jee-o. ||1||
O’ God, You alone know Your ways; I am living by Your support.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੇ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
gun gaavat man hari-aa hovai.
Singing Your Glorious Praises, my mind is rejuvenated.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਤ ਮਲੁ ਸਗਲੀ ਖੋਵੈ ॥
kathaa sunat mal saglee khovai.
By listening to God’s praise, the dirt of vices from my mind is removed.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਭੇਟਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਉ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
bhaytat sang saaDh santan kai sadaa japa-o da-i-aalaa jee-o. ||2||
Joining the holy congregation, I meditate forever on the Merciful God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂl
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਮਾਰਉ ॥
parabh apunaa saas saas samaara-o.
I lovingly remember my God with each and every breath.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮਨਿ ਧਾਰਉ ॥
ih mat gur parsaad man Dhaara-o.
By the Guru’s grace I have affirmed this wisdom in my mind.
ਇਹ ਸੁਚੱਜ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਸਰਬ ਮਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
tumree kirpaa tay ho-ay pargaasaa sarab ma-i-aa partipaalaa jee-o. ||3||
O’ God, the merciful Sustainer of all, only by Your grace, one is enlightened with such divine knowledge.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਮਿਹਰ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ l
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
sat sat sat parabh so-ee.
God is forever True.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਈ ॥
sadaa sadaa sad aapay ho-ee.
He has been and will always be self-existent.
ਸਦਾ ਹੀ, ਸਦਾ ਹੀ, ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ।
ਚਲਿਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੩੩॥
chalit tumaray pargat piaray daykh nanak bha-ay nihalaa jee-o. ||4||26||33||
O’ my Beloved God, Your wonders are obvious. Seeing them, Nanak is delighted.
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਚੋਜ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਤੱਖ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ l

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਵਰਸਣ ਲਾਗੇ ਮੇਹਾ ॥
hukmee varsan laagay mayhaa.
By His Command, the rain of Naam begins to fall.
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਵਰ੍ਹਣ ਲਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇਹਾ ॥
saajan sant mil naam japayhaa.
When the Saints and friends join together and lovingly meditate on God’s Name.
ਜਦੋਂ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੰਦੇ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਠਾਢਿ ਪਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
seetal saaNt sahj sukh paa-i-aa thaadh paa-ee parabh aapay jee-o. ||1||
They obtain soothing peace, poise, and bliss. God Himself has spiritually soothed their minds by eradicating the agony of vices.
ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਠੰਢ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨl ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਠੰਢ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਹੁਤੋ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
sabh kichh bahuto bahut upaa-i-aa.
(As a result of the rain of Naam in the holy congregation) God has produced abundance of all the spiritual virtues.
(ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣ (ਦਾ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਫ਼ਸਲ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਗਲ ਰਜਾਇਆ ॥
kar kirpaa parabh sagal rajaa-i-aa.
Granting His Grace, God has satiated all the saints.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
daat karahu mayray daataaraa jee-a jant sabh Dharaapay jee-o. ||2||
O’ merciful Giver, when You shower Your bounties, all creatures and beings are satiated, similarly the devotees are satiated when You shower the gift of Naam.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ! (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵਰਖਾ ਨਾਲ ਅੰਨ-ਧਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੁੰ ਰਜਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਜਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ l
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੀ ਨਾਈ ॥
sachaa saahib sachee naa-ee.
Eternal is the Master, and everlasting is His Glory
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
gur parsaad tis sadaa Dhi-aa-ee.
By the Guru’s Grace, I always remember him with loving devotion.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਕਾਟੇ ਮੋਹਾ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
janam maran bhai kaatay mohaa binsay sog santaapay jee-o. ||3||
All my fears of birth and death have been dispelled; emotional attachment, sorrow and suffering have been erased.
(ਉਸ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਕੱਟੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨl
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ॥
saas saas naanak saalaahay.
Nanak praises the God Almighty with each and every breath.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਾਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਫਾਹੇ ॥
simrat naam kaatay sabh faahay.
Remembering God with love and devotion, all bonds of Maya are cut away.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਕੱਟੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸ ਕਰੀ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੩੪॥
pooran aas karee khin bheetar har har har gun jaapay jee-o. ||4||27||34||
God has fulfilled all his desires in an instant and now he always sings His praises.
(ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ) ਇਹ ਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l

ਆਉ ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
aa-o saajan sant meet pi-aaray.
Come, O my dear friends, Saints and companions,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰੋ! ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! ਆਓ,
ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਵਹ ਗੁਣ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥
mil gaavah gun agam apaaray.
join together and sing the Praises of the Incomprehensible and Infinite God.
ਅਸੀਂ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੀਏ।
ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਣਤ ਸਭੇ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਸੋ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਮ ਕੀਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
gaavat sunat sabhay hee muktay so Dhi-aa-ee-ai jin ham kee-ay jee-o. ||1||
Those who sing and listen these praises are liberated from bonds of Maya , so let’s remember the One who has created us all.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਸੁਣਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ!) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਜਾਵਹਿ ॥
janam janam kay kilbikh jaaveh.
The sins of countless births are dispelled.
(ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਸੇਈ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
man chinday say-ee fal paavahi.
and they receive the fruits of the mind’s desires.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਫਲ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਿਤਵਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੋ ਫਲ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਭਸੁ ਕਉ ਦੀਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
simar saahib so sach su-aamee rijak sabhas ka-o dee-ay jee-o. ||2||
Remember the eternal God, our True Master, who gives sustenance to all.
ਉਸ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
naam japat sarab sukh paa-ee-ai.
By lovingly meditating on God’s Name, all kind of peace is obtained.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭੁ ਭਉ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
sabh bha-o binsai har har Dhi-aa-ee-ai.
All worldly fears are erased, by remembering God with love.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਡਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸੋ ਪਾਰਗਿਰਾਮੀ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲੇ ਥੀਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
jin sayvi-aa so paar giramee kaaraj saglay thee-ay jee-o. ||3||
One who lovingly remembers God is able to cross the world-ocean of vices and and all his affairs are resolved.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਰਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਆਇ ਪਇਆ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
aa-ay pa-i-aa tayree sarnaa-ee.
O’ God, I have come to Your refuge;
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਮੈਂ ਆ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥
ji-o bhaavai ti-o laihi milaa-ee.
Pleases, unite me with Yourself as You please.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈ।
