ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੮॥੩੫॥
kar kirpaa parabh bhagtee laavhu sach naanak amrit pee-ay jee-o. ||4||28||35||
O’ God, shower Your Mercy upon me and bless me with Your devotional worship, so that Nanak may partake the Ambrosial Nectar of Naam.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਨਾਨਕ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ l
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
bha-ay kirpaal govind gusaa-ee.
When God, the master of the Universe, becomes merciful,
(ਜਦੋਂ) ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ) ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਘੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥
maygh varsai sabhnee thaa-ee.
Then the rain of His mercy falls everywhere.
(ਤਾਂ) ਬੱਦਲ (ਉੱਚੇ ਨੀਵੇਂ) ਸਭ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਰਖਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਠਾਢਿ ਪਾਈ ਕਰਤਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
deen da-i-aal sadaa kirpaalaa thaadh paa-ee kartaaray jee-o. ||1||
He is Merciful to the meek, always Kind and Gentle; the Creator has bestowed all with the gift of tranquility.
ਉਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੇ ॥
apunay jee-a jant partipaaray.
He cherishes all His beings and creatures,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ (ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਉ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਮਾਤਾ ਸੰਮਾਰੇ ॥
ji-o baarik maataa sammaaray.
just as a mother cares for her children.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇਤ ਸਗਲ ਆਹਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
dukh bhanjan sukh saagar su-aamee dayt sagal aahaaray jee-o. ||2||
The destroyer of sorrow, the Ocean of peace,The Master gives sustenance to all.
ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ॥
jal thal poor rahi-aa miharvaanaa.
The Merciful God is totally pervading everywhere, in the water and in land.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਵਿਆਪ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥
sad balihaar jaa-ee-ai kurbaanaa.
One should always be devoted to Him
ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈ ਜਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
rain dinas tis sadaa Dhi-aa-ee je khin meh sagal uDhaaray jee-o. ||3||
Night and day, we should meditate on God. He is the only One who can save all beings in an instant from the world-ocean of vices.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ॥
raakh lee-ay saglay parabh aapay.
God Himself has saved all who have sought His shelter.
(ਜੇਹੜੇ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ), ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਪ (ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ) ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਏ।
ਉਤਰਿ ਗਏ ਸਭ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪੇ ॥
utar ga-ay sabh sog santaapay.
All their pains and sufferings have been removed.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੯॥੩੬॥
naam japat man tan hareeaval parabh nanak nadar nihaaray jee-o. ||4||29||36||
By meditating on Naam the body and mind are spiritually rejuvenated. O’ God, please bless me so that, I, Nanak, may keep meditating on Your Name
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਹਰਿਆਵਲ (ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ) ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਭੀ) ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰ (ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ)

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਜਿਥੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
jithai naam japee-ai parabh pi-aaray.
The places where the beloved God’s Name is remembered with love and devotion,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ,
ਸੇ ਅਸਥਲ ਸੋਇਨ ਚਉਬਾਰੇ ॥
say asthal so-in cha-ubaaray.
even if those places are barren, they are valuable like mansions of gold.
ਉਹ ਰੜੇ ਥਾਂ ਭੀ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਚੁਬਾਰੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਥੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਪੀਐ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਇਦਾ ਸੇਈ ਨਗਰ ਉਜਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
jithai naam na japee-ai mayray go-idaa say-ee nagar ujaarhee jee-o. ||1||
O’ my God, the places where Your Name is not meditated upon, those towns are like ruins.
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਹ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾਏ, ਉਹ (ਵੱਸਦੇ) ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਭੀ ਉਜਾੜ (ਸਮਾਨ) ਹਨl
ਹਰਿ ਰੁਖੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਇ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥
har rukhee rotee khaa-ay samaalay.
The one who, even if living on dry bread, enshrines God’s Name in his heart,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰੁੱਖੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾ ਕੇ (ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ॥
har antar baahar nadar nihaalay.
God bestows His grace on him both within and without.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖਾਇ ਖਾਇ ਕਰੇ ਬਦਫੈਲੀ ਜਾਣੁ ਵਿਸੂ ਕੀ ਵਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
khaa-ay khaa-ay karay badfailee jaan visoo kee vaarhee jee-o. ||2||
On the other hand, the self-conceited person, who in spite of enjoying good food, commits evil deeds, should be considered an orchard of poison.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਖਾ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਬਗ਼ੀਚੀ ਜਾਣੋ l
ਸੰਤਾ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਲਾਏ ॥
santaa saytee rang na laa-ay.
One who does not feel love for the Saints,
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ,
ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਵਿਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
saakat sang vikram kamaa-ay.
and commits evil deeds in the company of the faithless cynics,
ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ (ਰਲ ਕੇ) ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਖੋਈ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਜੜ ਅਪੁਣੀ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
dulabh dayh kho-ee agi-aanee jarh apunee aap upaarhee jee-o. ||3||
That ignorant person has wasted this invaluable human life. He has pulled out his own roots.
ਉਸ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਅਤਿ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਢ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ l
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥
tayree saran mayray deen da-i-aalaa. sukh saagar mayray gur gopaalaa.
O’ God, saviour of the oppressed, Ocean of Peace, my Guru and sustainer of the world, I seek Your refuge.
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ, ਹੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ! ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਪਾਲਕ! ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸਰਮ ਅਸਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੦॥੩੭॥
kar kirpaa naanak gun gaavai raakho saram asaarhee jee-o. ||4||30||37||
O’ God, please show mercy, so that Nanak may sing Your praises: please save our honor.
ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੋ (ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ। (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਸਾਡੀ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖੇ (ਅਸੀਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੀਏ)

ਚਰਣ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਣੇ ॥
charan thaakur kay ridai samaanay.
I cherish the love of my Master in my heart.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਏ ਹਨ।
ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਸਭ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਇਆਣੇ ॥
kal kalays sabh door pa-i-aanay.
All my sorrows and strifes have run away.
ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਲਪਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਦੁਖੜੇ ਦੁਰੇਡੇ ਨੱਸ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਪਜੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
saaNt sookh sahj Dhun upjee saaDhoo sang nivaasaa jee-o. ||1||
The melody of peace, poise and tranquility intuitively wells up within me, and I dwell in the holy congregation
ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਲੈ ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਗੂੰਜਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਤੂਟੈ ਮੂਲੇ ॥
laagi preet na tootay moolay.
The bonds of love once forged with God are never broken.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਟੁੱਟਦੀ,
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥
har antar baahar rahi-aa bharpooray.
God is totally pervading both within and outside every where.
ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਕਾਟੀ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
simar simar simar gun gaavaa kaatee jam kee faasaa jee-o. ||2||
Remembering God with loving devotion, I sing His Glorious Praises, and the fear of death has been eradicated.
ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਯਾਂਦ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਰਖੈ ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
amrit varkha anhad banee
I feel as if the rain of nectar (Naam) is falling, and the melody of unstuck music is ringing.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
man tan antar saaNt samaanee.
deep within my mind and body, peace and tranquility has come to reside .
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਲਾਹੀ ਠੰਢ ਚੈਨ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਇ ਰਹੇ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
taripat aghaa-ay rahay jan tayray satgur kee-aa dilaasaa jee-o. ||3||
O’ God, Your devotees who have been blessed to stand against the Vices by the true Guru are fully satiated from the Maya.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਾਕਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jis kaa saa tis tay fal paa-i-aa.
I have obtained the fruit of my heart’s desire from God to whom I belong.
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੁਰਾਦ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਮਲਕੀਅਤ ਹਾਂ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
kar kirpaa parabh sang milaa-i-aa.
Showering His Mercy, the Guru has united me with God.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣ ਰਹੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੧॥੩੮॥
aavan jaan rahay vadbhaagee naanak pooran aasaa jee-o. ||4||31||38||
O’ Nanak, by good fortune my cycle of birth and death have ended and my hopes have been fulfilled.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ। ਵਡੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਉਣਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੁਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਉਮੀਦਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ l
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਮੀਹੁ ਪਇਆ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
meehu pa-i-aa parmaysar paa-i-aa.
God has sent His rain of mercy.
ਮੀਂਹ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਨੇ ਮੀਂਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ ,
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖੀ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
jee-a jant sabh sukhee vasaa-i-aa.
Thus, He has given joy and peace to all His creation.
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸੁਖੀ ਵਸਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
ਗਇਆ ਕਲੇਸੁ ਭਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
ga-i-aa kalays bha-i-aa sukh saachaa har har naam samaalee jee-o. ||1||
As I enshrine God’s Name in my heart, the sorrow is departing and everlasting bliss is dawning within me
(ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਸੇ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੇ ॥
jis kay say tin hee partipaaray.
God, to whom they belong, has nurtured them
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਰਖਵਾਰੇ ॥
paarbarahm parabh bha-ay rakhvaaray.
The Supreme God has become their protector.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਣੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਘਾਲੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
sunee baynantee thaakur mayrai pooran ho-ee ghaalee jee-o. ||2||
My God has listened to my prayer and my efforts have been rewarded.
ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣੀ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ (ਸੇਵਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ) ਮਿਹਨਤ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਈ
