ਭੈ ਅਟਵੀਅੰ ਮਹਾ ਨਗਰ ਬਾਸੰ ਧਰਮ ਲਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਣ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਇਆ ॥
bhai atvee-aN mahaa nagar baasaN Dharam lakh-yan parabh ma-i-aa.
even the dreadful forest appears as a well-populated city; such are the attributes of faith in God, which are attained by God’s grace.
ਡਰਾਉਣਾ ਜੰਗਲ ਤਕੜਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਜਾਪਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ-ਇਹ ਹਨ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਲੱਛਣ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਮਣੰ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਯਾਲ ਚਰਣੰ ॥੪੪॥
saaDh sangam raam raam ramnaN saran naanak har har da-yaal charnaN. ||44||
O’ Nanak, this faith is to seek the support of God’s immaculate Name and to lovingly remember Him in the company of the saints. ||44||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਹ ਧਰਮ ਹੈ-) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਤੇ ਦਿਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਣਾ ॥੪੪॥
ਹੇ ਅਜਿਤ ਸੂਰ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਾਮੰ ਅਤਿ ਬਲਨਾ ਬਹੁ ਮਰਦਨਹ ॥
hay ajit soor sangraamaN at balnaa baho maradneh.
O’ the invincible worldly attachment, you are like a warrior of the battlefield of life; you totally crush and destroy even the most powerful beings.
ਹੇ ਨਾਹ ਜਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਮੋਹ)! ਤੂੰ ਜੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਮਹਾਂ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਦੇਵ ਮਾਨੁਖ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਪਸੁ ਪੰਖੀ ਬਿਮੋਹਨਹ ॥
gan ganDharab dayv maanukh-yaN pas pankhee bimohneh.
You entice and fascinate the devotees of angels, celestial singers, gods, mortals, beasts and birds.
ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਪੰਛੀ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੰ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਗਦੀਸ੍ਵਰਹ ॥੪੫॥
har karanhaaraN namaskaaraN saran naanak jagdeesvareh. ||45||
O’ Nanak, (to save yourself from it) bow and humbly surrender to the Creator-God and seek the refuge of God, the Master of the world.||45||
(ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਲੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਰਚਣਹਾਰ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰ ॥੪੫॥
ਹੇ ਕਾਮੰ ਨਰਕ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੰ ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਵਣਹ ॥
hay kaamaN narak bisraamaN baho jonee bharmaavneh.
O’ lust, you land the living beings into the suffering of hell and make them wander in many incarnations.
ਹੇ ਕਾਮ! ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਅਪੜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਚਿਤ ਹਰਣੰ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੋਕ ਗੰਮ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੀਲ ਬਿਦਾਰਣਹ ॥
chit harnaN tarai lok gam-yaN jap tap seel bidaarneh.
You captivate the minds of all, your reach is in all the three worlds, and youdestroy people’s worship, penance and immaculate character.
ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਭਰਮਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਤੇ ਸੁੱਧ ਆਚਰਨ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਅਲਪ ਸੁਖ ਅਵਿਤ ਚੰਚਲ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਸਮਾਵਣਹ ॥
alap sukh avit chanchal ooch neech samaavneh.
You provide only shallow pleasure, while you make the mortals spiritually bankrupt and unstable; you pervade the high and the low (poor and rich).
ਤੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਤਾਂ ਥੋੜਾ ਹੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਪਰ ਇਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਚਲ ਅਤੇ (ਸੁੱਧ ਆਚਰਨ ਦੇ) ਧਨ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਜੀਵ ਉੱਚੇ ਹੋਣ, ਨੀਵੇਂ ਹੋਣ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਤਵ ਭੈ ਬਿਮੁੰਚਿਤ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਮ ਓਟ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਰਾਇਣਹ ॥੪੬॥
tav bhai bimuNchit saaDh sangam ot naanak naaraa-ineh. ||46||
O’ Nanak, one becomes free from the fear of lust only by joining the congregation of saints and seeking God’s refuge. ||46||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲੈਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਤੇਰਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ॥੪੬॥
ਹੇ ਕਲਿ ਮੂਲ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੰ ਕਦੰਚ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਨ ਉਪਰਜਤੇ ॥
hay kal mool kroDh-aN kadanch karunaa na uparjatay.
O’ anger, the root of conflicts, compassion never rises up in you.
ਹੇ ਝਗੜੇ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਕਦੇ ਦਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਪਜਦੀ।
ਬਿਖਯੰਤ ਜੀਵੰ ਵਸ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਨਿਰਤ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਜਥਾ ਮਰਕਟਹ ॥
bikh-yant jeevaN vas-yaN karot nirt-yaN karot jathaa marakteh.
You bring under your control the sinful persons and they dance like monkeys.
ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਈ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੇਰੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਇਉਂ ਨੱਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਾਂਦਰ।
ਅਨਿਕ ਸਾਸਨ ਤਾੜੰਤਿ ਜਮਦੂਤਹ ਤਵ ਸੰਗੇ ਅਧਮੰ ਨਰਹ ॥
anik saasan taarhant jamdooteh tav sangay aDhamaN narah.
In your company, human beings become evil minded, and the demon of death disciplines them in many ways.
ਤੇਰੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਨੀਚ (ਸੁਭਾਵ ਵਾਲੇ) ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਮਦੂਤ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੇ ਦੰਡ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਦਯਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਅ ਰਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਾ ਕਰੋਤਿ ॥੪੭॥
deen dukh bhanjan da-yaal parabh naanak sarab jee-a rakh-yaa karot. ||47||
O’ Nanak, only the merciful God, the destroyer of the sorrows of the meek, protects all the living beings from anger. ||47||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਦੀਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਦਿਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਤੋਂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪੭॥
ਹੇ ਲੋਭਾ ਲੰਪਟ ਸੰਗ ਸਿਰਮੋਰਹ ਅਨਿਕ ਲਹਰੀ ਕਲੋਲਤੇ ॥
hay lobhaa lampat sang sirmohreh anik lahree kalolatay.
O’ greed, you have wrapped yourself round even the leaders, and caught in your waves, their minds play innumerable antics.
ਹੇ ਲੋਭ! ਤੂੰ ਮੁਖੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਚਿਮੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਲੋਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਧਾਵੰਤ ਜੀਆ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੰ ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਡੋਲਤੇ ॥
Dhaavant jee-aa baho parkaaraN anik bhaaNt baho doltay.
Under your influence, the mortals wander around unsteadily in many different ways.
ਤੇਰੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਡੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਚ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਨਚ ਇਸਟੰ ਨਚ ਬਾਧਵ ਨਚ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਤਵ ਲਜਯਾ ॥
nach mitraN nach istaN nach baaDhav nach maat pitaa tav lajyaa.
People, under your influence, do not feel ashamed before their friends, spiritual guide, relatives, their mother and father.
ਤੇਰੇ ਅਸਰ ਹੇਠ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਦੀ, ਨਾਹ ਗੁਰੂ-ਪੀਰ ਦੀ, ਨਾਹ ਸਨਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਦੀ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਕਰਣੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਅਖਾਦ੍ਯ੍ਯਿ ਖਾਦ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਅਸਾਜ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਮਜਯਾ ॥
akranaN karot akhaad-ya khaad-yaN asaaj-yaN saaj samajyaa.
under your influence, one does what should not be done, eats the uneatable, and does things against the norms of the society.
ਤੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ ਖੁਲ੍ਹੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ, ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਣੀਆਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੀਆਂ, ਉਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੀਆਂ।
ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬਿਗ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਪ੍ਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਰਹਰਹ ॥੪੮॥
taraahi taraahi saran su-aamee big-yaapati naanak har narhareh. ||48||
O’ Nanak, pray before God in this way: O’ God! I have come to Your refuge, please save me from the waves of greed. ||48||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਲੋਭ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ) ਇਉਂ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੋਭ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ॥੪੮॥
ਹੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਮੂਲੰ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੰ ਪਾਪਾਤਮਾ ॥
hay janam maran moolaN ahaNkaaraN paapaatmaa.
O’ egotism, you incite people to commit sins and you are the root cause of the cycles of birth and death.
ਹੇ ਪਾਪੀ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ! ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈਂ।
ਮਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਤਜੰਤਿ ਸਤ੍ਰੰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੰਤਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਮਾਯਾ ਬਿਸ੍ਤੀਰਨਹ ॥
mitraN tajant satraN darirh-aaNt anik maa-yaa bisteerniH.
By spreading the expanse of materialism in many different ways, you make one forsake one’s friends and turn them into one’s archenemies.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਖਿਲਾਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਿਆਗ ਕਰਾ ਕੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਪੱਕੇ ਕਰਾਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਆਵੰਤ ਜਾਵੰਤ ਥਕੰਤ ਜੀਆ ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਬਹੁ ਭੋਗਣਹ ॥
aavant jaavant thakant jee-aa dukh sukh baho bhognah.
(Falling in your trap), people get exhausted going through the cycles of birth and death and bear many sorrows and pleasures.
(ਤੇਰੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਜੀਵ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਥੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਸੁਖ ਭੋਗਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਯਾਨ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਰਮਣੰ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਕਟ ਅਸਾਧ ਰੋਗਣਹ ॥
bharam bha-yaan udi-aan ramnaN mahaa bikat asaaDh rognah.
Getting strayed by doubt they roam around as if they are wandering in dreadful jungle and are suffering from a very terrible and incurable disease.
ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਡਰਾਉਣੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਬੜੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਲਾ-ਇਲਾਜ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਬੈਦ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਆਰਾਧਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥੪੯॥
baid-yaN paarbarahm parmaysvar aaraaDh naanak har har haray. ||49||
The only physician who can cure this ailment is the all pervading supreme God: O’ Nanak, always remember God with adoration. ||49||
(ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹਕੀਮ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਮਰ ॥੪੯॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਨਾਥ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਜਗਦ ਗੁਰੋ ॥
hay paraan naath gobindah kirpaa niDhaan jagad guro.
O’ God, the Master of life breaths, the treasure of mercy, the Guru of the world,
ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ!
ਹੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤਾਪ ਹਰਣਹ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਸਭ ਦੁਖ ਹਰੋ ॥
hay sansaar taap harnah karunaa mai sabh dukh haro.
the destroyer of the sorrows of the world, the embodiment of kindness, please eradicate the sorrows of all beings.
ਹੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਤਰਸ-ਸਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ।
ਹੇ ਸਰਣਿ ਜੋਗ ਦਯਾਲਹ ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਮਯਾ ਕਰੋ ॥
hay saran jog da-yaaleh deenaa naath ma-yaa karo.
O’ the source of mercy, capable of providing support to the one who seeks Your refuge, the Master of the meek, please bestow mercy.
ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ! ਹੇ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਥ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ।
ਸਰੀਰ ਸ੍ਵਸਥ ਖੀਣ ਸਮਏ ਸਿਮਰੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਮਾਧਵਹ ॥੫੦॥
sareer savasth kheen sam-ay simrant naanak raam daamodar maaDhvah. ||50||
O’ God, bless Nanak that whether his body is perfectly healthy or becomes weak, he may always remember You with adoration.||50||
ਹੇ ਰਾਮ! ਹੇ ਦਾਮੋਦਰ! ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ! ਸਰੀਰਕ ਅਰੋਗਤਾ ਸਮੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਣ ਸਮੇ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਨਾਨਕ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ ॥੫੦॥
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਸਰਣੰ ਰਮਣੰ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥
charan kamal sarnaN ramnaN gopaal keeratneh.
By taking the support of God’s immaculate Name and by singing His praises,
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ (ਲਿਆਂ), ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਉਚਾਰਿਆਂ-
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੇਣ ਤਰਣੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਹਾ ਸਾਗਰ ਭੈ ਦੁਤਰਹ ॥੫੧॥
saaDh sangayn tarnaN naanak mahaa saagar bhai dutrah. ||51||
one can cross over the utterly terrifying and difficult to cross world-ocean of vices in the company of saints, O’ Nanak! ||51||
(ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਸੰਸਾਰ) ਇਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ ॥੫੧॥
ਸਿਰ ਮਸ੍ਤਕ ਰਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੰ ਹਸ੍ਤ ਕਾਯਾ ਰਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰਹ ॥
sir mastak rakh-yaa paarbrahmaN hast kaa-yaa rakh-yaa parmaysvareh.
The Supreme God is the only protector of the head, brow, hands, and rest of the body,
ਸਿਰ, ਮੱਥਾ, ਹੱਥ, ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ (ਹਰ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ (ਹੈ),
ਆਤਮ ਰਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਾ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਧਨ ਚਰਣ ਰਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਾ ਜਗਦੀਸ੍ਵਰਹ ॥
aatam rakh-yaa gopaal su-aamee Dhan charan rakh-yaa jagdeesvareh.
the Master-God of the universe is the only savior of the soul, the worldly wealth is also under the protection of God’s immaculate Name.
ਜਿੰਦ, ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਆਦਿ ਦੀ) ਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੋਪਾਲ, ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਜਗਦੀਸਰ (ਹੀ ਹੈ)।
ਸਰਬ ਰਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਾ ਗੁਰ ਦਯਾਲਹ ਭੈ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨਹ ॥
sarab rakh-yaa gur da-yaaleh bhai dookh binaasneh.
The Merciful Divine Guru provides protection in every way and destroys all fears and sufferings.
ਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾਥੇ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਚੁਤਹ ॥੫੨॥
bhagat vachhal anaath naathay saran naanak purakh achuteh. ||52||
God is the lover of devotional worship, He is the Master of the masterless; O’ Nanak, seek the shelter of that eternal God. ||52||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਿਆਸਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਭਗਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਅਵਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ॥੫੨॥
ਜੇਨ ਕਲਾ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਆਕਾਸੰ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੰ ਕਾਸਟ ਬੇਸਟੰ ॥
jayn kalaa Dhaari-o aakaasaN baisaNtaaraN kaasat baystaN.
That God who by His power has held the sky in place and has concealed fire within the wood,
ਜਿਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਕੜ ਨਾਲ ਢਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ;
ਜੇਨ ਕਲਾ ਸਸਿ ਸੂਰ ਨਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਤ੍ਰ ਜੋਤ੍ਯ੍ਯਿੰ ਸਾਸੰ ਸਰੀਰ ਧਾਰਣੰ ॥
jayn kalaa sas soor nakh-yatar jot-yaN saasaN sareer DhaarnaN.
and who by His power has provided light to the sun, moon, and stars, and has infused breaths in the bodies;
ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਸੂਰਜ ਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਆਸ ਟਿਕਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ;
