ਹਰਿ ਤੁਮ ਵਡ ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਵਡ ਊਚੇ ਸੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੀਸ ॥
har tum vad vaday vaday vad oochay so karahi je tuDh bhaavees.
O’ God, You are the greatest of the great, and highest of the high; You do what pleases You.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਬੀਸ ॥੨॥੨॥੮॥
jan naanak amrit pee-aa gurmatee Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan guroo saabees. ||2||2||8||
O’ Devotee Nanak, the Guru is really blessed and praiseworthy through whose divine word, we partake the ambrosial nectar of Naam.||2||2||8||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ, ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀ ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥੮॥

Raag Kaanraa, Fourth Guru:
ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮੋ ਮਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥
bhaj raamo man raam.
O’ brother, lovingly remember God’s Name in your mind,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ,
ਜਿਸੁ ਰੂਪ ਨ ਰੇਖ ਵਡਾਮ ॥
jis roop na raykh vadaam.
who has no form or feature, who is highest of the high.
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਚਿਹਨ-ਚੱਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੁ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ॥
satsangat mil bhaj raam.
O’ brother, join the company of saintly persons and lovingly remember God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ|
ਬਡ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਭਾਗ ਮਥਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bad ho ho bhaag mathaam. ||1|| rahaa-o.
This would make your destiny shine on your forehead. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਤੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਤੁ ਜਾਸੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਨਦੋ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ॥
jit garihi mandar har hot jaas tit ghar aando aanand bhaj raam raam raam.
The temple-like heart, in which praises of God are sung, remains filled with ecstasy and joy, therefore you should always lovingly remember God.
ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਦਾ ਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਹਰੇ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥
raam naam gun gaavhu har pareetam updays guroo gur satiguraa sukh hot har haray har haray haray bhaj raam raam raam. ||1||
Keep singing the glorious praises of God’s Name through the Guru’s teachings; inner peace is attained by always remembering God with adoration. ||1||
ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ। ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਭ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰ ਹਰਿ ਤੁਮ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਤੂ ਤੂ ਤੂ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ॥
sabh sisat Dhaar har tum kirpaal kartaa sabh too too too raam raam raam.
O’ God, You are the merciful Creator and Supporter of the entire universe, and You are pervading everywhere.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੋ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਦੇਹੁ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥੩॥੯॥
jan naanko sarnaagatee dayh gurmatee bhaj raam raam raam. ||2||3||9||
Devotee Nanak has come to Your refuge, please bless him with the Guru’s divine word, so that he may keep lovingly remembering God. ||2||3||9||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ| ॥੨॥੩॥੯॥

Raag Kaanraa, Fourth Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਾਟਉ ਪਗ ਚਾਟ ॥
satgur chaata-o pag chaat.
I humbly kiss the feet of that true Guru, (With utmost humility, I follow the teachings of that true Guru),
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਚੁੰਮਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਧਰ ਬਾਟ ॥
jit mil har paaDhar baat.
by meeting whom, the way to realize God becomes smooth.
ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਰਾਹ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਰਸ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਟ ॥
bhaj har ras ras har gaat.
O’ brother, you should also lovingly remember God and gulp down the ambrosial nectar of His Name,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਗਟ ਗਟ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪੀਆ ਕਰ।
ਹਰਿ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਲਿਖੇ ਲਿਲਾਟ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ho ho likhay lilaat. ||1|| rahaa-o.
but it happens only to the one in whose destiny God has written so. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਦੇ ਲੇਖ ਉੱਘੜ ਪੈਣਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਖਟ ਕਰਮ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਜੋਗੀਆ ਕਰਿ ਜਟ ਜਟਾ ਜਟ ਜਾਟ ॥
khat karam kiri-aa kar baho baho bisthaar siDh saaDhik jogee-aa kar jat jataa jat jaat.
By doing the six kinds of extensive rituals advocated by pundits, adorning matted hair like the yogis and adepts,
(ਪੰਡਿਤਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਛੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ) ਹੋਰ ਬਥੇਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਰੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਸਿੱਧਾਂ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਸਾਧਿਕਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਜਟਾਂ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ,
ਕਰਿ ਭੇਖ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਜੋਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਤਸੰਗਤੀ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਖੋਲਿ ਖੋਲਿ ਕਪਾਟ ॥੧॥
kar bhaykh na paa-ee-ai har barahm jog har paa-ee-ai satsangtee updays guroo gur sant janaa khol khol kapaat. ||1||
and by wearing religious robes, the union with God is not attained; He is realized by joining the holy company, so you should open your mind’s door and enlighten it by following the Guru’s teachings while staying in the holy company.||1||
ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਪਹਿਰਾਵੇ ਪਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਦਾ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰਕੇ। (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਕਵਾੜ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ॥੧॥
ਤੂ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਾਹੁ ਤੂ ਭਰਪੁਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਜਲ ਥਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਇਕੋ ਇਕ ਏਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਥਾਟ ॥
too aprampar su-aamee at agaahu too bharpur rahi-aa jal thalay har ik iko ik aikai har thaat.
O’ infinite God, You are extremely unfathomable and You are pervading everywhere on land and water; You are the one and only one, and You have created the entire universe.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਤੂੰ ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਥਾਹ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਜਗਤ-ਉਤਪੱਤੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੂ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸਭ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਘਟਿ ਘਟੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟੇ ਘਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਘਾਟ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੦॥
too jaaneh sabh biDh boojheh aapay jan naanak kay parabh ghat ghatay ghat ghatay ghat har ghaat. ||2||4||10||
O’ God of devotee Nanak, You know Your ways and means and understand everything about this creation; You reside in each and every heart. ||2||4||10||
(ਇਸ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਬਾਰੇ) ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਢੰਗ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੦॥

ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਮਾਧੋ ॥
jap man gobid maaDho.
O’ mind, lovingly remember God, the master of Maya.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਤੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧੋ ॥
har har agam agaaDho.
God is inaccessible and unfathomable.
ਉਹ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਹੈ।
ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਾਧੋ ॥
mat gurmat har parabh laaDho.
Only that person realizes God through the Guru’s teachings,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਧੁਰਿ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਲਿਖੇ ਲਿਲਾਧੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Dhur ho ho likhay lilaaDho. ||1|| rahaa-o.
who has such preordained destiny. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ) ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਚਿ ਬਹੁ ਚਿਤੈ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੋ ॥
bikh maa-i-aa sanch baho chitai bikaar sukh paa-ee-ai har bhaj sant sant sangtee mil satguroo gur saaDho.
One starts thinking of many vices after amassing worldly wealth, the cause of spiritual deterioration, whereas inner peace is attained by remembering God in the holy company through the Guru’s teachings.
ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਚਿਤਵਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ) ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਉ ਛੁਹਿ ਪਾਰਸ ਮਨੂਰ ਭਏ ਕੰਚਨ ਤਿਉ ਪਤਿਤ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਸੁਧ ਹੋਵਤ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸੁਧ ਹਾਧੋ ॥੧॥
ji-o chhuhi paaras manoor bha-ay kanchan ti-o patit jan mil sangtee suDh hovat gurmatee suDh haaDho. ||1||
Just as the rusted iron becomes gold by touching the mythical philosopher’s stone, similarly the life of the sinners become immaculate by joining the holy congregation and by following the Guru’s teachings. ||1||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਛੁਹ ਕੇ ਸੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਲੋਹਾ ਸੋਨਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ, ਸੁੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਉ ਕਾਸਟ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੋਹਾ ਬਹੁ ਤਰਤਾ ਤਿਉ ਪਾਪੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੇ ਸਾਧ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧੋ ॥
ji-o kaasat sang lohaa baho tartaa ti-o paapee sang taray saaDh saaDh sangtee gur satguroo gur saaDho.
Just as the heavy iron is carried across on the wooden raft, similarly the sinners can also be ferried across the world-ocean of vices by remaining in the company of saints and by following the Guru’s teachings.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਾਠ (ਬੇੜੀ) ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੋਹਾ (ਨਦੀ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਚਾਰਿ ਬਰਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਆਸ੍ਰਮ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਕੁਲ ਸਗਲ ਤਰਾਧੋ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੧॥
chaar baran chaar aasram hai ko-ee milai guroo gur naanak so aap tarai kul sagal taraaDho. ||2||5||11||
O’ Nanak, there are four castes and four stages of life, anyone out of them who meets and follows the Guru’s teachings, swims across the world ocean of vices and also helps his lineage to swim across. ||2||5||11||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਖੱਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਦਿਕ) ਚਾਰ ਵਰਨ ਹਨ, (ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਚਰਜ ਆਦਿਕ) ਚਾਰ ਆਸ਼੍ਰਮ ਹਨ, (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੧॥

Raag Kaanraa, Fourth Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥
har jas gaavhu bhagvaan.
O’ friends, always sing the praises of God with loving devotion,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰੋ,
ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਤ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਾਨ ॥
jas gaavat paap lahaan.
because sins vanish by singing His praises.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਜਸੁ ਕਾਨ ॥
mat gurmat sun jas kaan.
You should listen to God’s praises with your ears by following the Guru’s teachings,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਰ,
ਹਰਿ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕਿਰਪਾਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ho ho kirpaan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God becomes merciful by doing so. ||1||Pause||
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
