ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ):ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੩੮॥

ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਰਹਾ ਕਲਿ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
tayree tayk rahaa kal maahi.
O’ God, it is with Your support that I spiritually survive in Kalyug.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਸ ਵਿਕਾਰ-ਭਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਹੀ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਿ ॥
tayree tayk tayray gun gaahi.
All beings depend on Your support and sing Your praises.
(ਸਭ ਜੀਵ) ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ਕਾਲੁ ॥
tayree tayk na pohai kaal.
With Your Support, one is not afraid of death.
ਤੇਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਮੌਤ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਜੰਜਾਲੁ ॥੧॥
tayree tayk binsai janjaal. ||1||
With your support, one’s noose of worldly entanglements is cut.||1||.
ਤੇਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਦੀਨ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ॥
deen dunee-aa tayree tayk.
O’ God, both here and hereafter, all beings depend on Your support.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ (ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਏਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabh meh ravi-aa saahib ayk. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The one Master-God is pervading the entire universe. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਕਰਉ ਆਨੰਦ ॥
tayree tayk kara-o aanand.
O’ God, it is with Your support that I enjoy celestial bliss.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ l
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਜਪਉ ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ ॥
tayree tayk japa-o gur mant.
With Your Support, I meditate on Naam, the Mantra given by the Guru.
ਤੇਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਤਰੀਐ ਭਉ ਸਾਗਰੁ ॥
tayree tayk taree-ai bha-o saagar.
O’ God, we swim across the worldly ocean of vices with Your support,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸਹਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਖਣਹਾਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ॥੨॥
raakhanhaar pooraa sukh saagar. ||2||
because You are the perfect savior and the ocean of peace.||2||
ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਨਾਹੀ ਭਉ ਕੋਇ ॥
tayree tayk naahee bha-o ko-ay.
O’ God, one who depends on Your support, has no fear.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਵਿਆਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ l
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
antarjaamee saachaa so-ay.
The eternal God is omniscient.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਛ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਨਿ ਤਾਣੁ ॥
tayree tayk tayraa man taan.
O’ God, all the beings depend on Your support and within their mind is the assurance of Your strength.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਈਹਾਂ ਊਹਾਂ ਤੂ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
eehaaN oohaaN too deebaan. ||3||
and both here and hereafter, You are their only support. ||3||
ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੩॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥
tayree tayk tayraa bharvaasaa.
O’ God, we all lean only on Your support and have trust in You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਗਲ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਾ ॥
sagal Dhi-aavahi parabh guntaasaa.
O’ God, the treasure of virtues, all human beings remember You with adoration.
ਹੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾ ॥
jap jap anad karahi tayray daasaa.
Your devotees enjoy spiritual bliss by always remembering You with adoration.
ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੩੯॥
simar naanak saachay guntaasaa. ||4||26||39||
O’ Nanak, lovingly remember God, the treasure of virtues. ||4||26||39||

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਛੋਡੀ ਪਰਾਈ ਨਿੰਦਾ ॥
parathmay chhodee paraa-ee nindaa.
First of all, one who gives up slandering others,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੂੱਖ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਐਬ ਲੱਭਣੇ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਉਤਰਿ ਗਈ ਸਭ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਦਾ ॥
utar ga-ee sabh man kee chindaa.
all the worry of his mind goes away,
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
lobh moh sabh keeno door.
he eradicates all greed and worldly attachments from his mind,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਲੋਭ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਰਮ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਿ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥੧॥
param baisno parabh paykh hajoor. ||1||
he visualizes God with him and becomes the most exalted devotee of God.||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਵੈਸ਼ਨਵ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਐਸੋ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਇ ॥
aiso ti-aagee virlaa ko-ay.
Only a very rare person becomes such a renunciate (of the evil of slandering),
(ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਵੈਸ਼ਨਵ ਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ) ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਤਿਆਗੀ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har naam japai jan so-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and only such a devotee truly meditates on God’s Name. ||1||pause||
ਅਤੇ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸਹੀ ਅਰਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਕਾ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
ahaN-buDh kaa chhodi-aa sang.
(One who becomes such a devotee of God), abandons his egotistical intellect,
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ-ਨਾਜ਼ਰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਅਸਲ ਵੈਸ਼ਨਵ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਾ ਉਤਰਿਆ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
kaam kroDh kaa utri-aa rang.
his infatuation with lust and anger vanishes,
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦਾ ਅਸਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਏ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥
naam Dhi-aa-ay har har haray.
he always lovingly remembers God’s Name,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਸਤਰੇ ॥੨॥
saaDh janaa kai sang nistaray. ||2||
and by remaining in the company of God’s saints, he swims across the worldly ocean of vices. ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਬੈਰੀ ਮੀਤ ਹੋਏ ਸੰਮਾਨ ॥
bairee meet ho-ay sammaan.
(For such a devotee of God) enemies and friends become the same,
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੈਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਇੱਕੋ ਜਿਹੇ (ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੀ) ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਰਬ ਮਹਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥
sarab meh pooran bhagvaan.
because he visualizes the same perfect God in all,
ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਾਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
parabh kee aagi-aa maan sukh paa-i-aa.
By cheerfully accepting God’s will, he has attained inner peace.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
gur poorai har naam drirh-aa-i-aa. ||3||
because the perfect Guru enshrined God’s Name in his heart.||3||
ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਟਿਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਆਪਿ ॥
kar kirpaa jis raakhai aap.
Bestowing mercy, whom God Himself saves,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਆਪ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋਈ ਭਗਤੁ ਜਪੈ ਨਾਮ ਜਾਪ ॥
so-ee bhagat japai naam jaap.
only that person is the true devotee who lovingly meditates on God’s Name.
ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਭਗਤ, ਉਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਤਿ ਲਈ ॥
man pargaas gur tay mat la-ee.
One who received teachings from the Guru and followed it sincerely, his mind became spiritually enlightened.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਪਈ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੪੦॥
kaho naanak taa kee pooree pa-ee. ||4||27||40||
Nanak says, the life of that person has become successfull. ||4||27||40||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੪੦॥

ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਹੁਤੈ ਧਨਿ ਖਾਟੇ ॥
sukh naahee bahutai Dhan khaatay.
There is no inner peace in earning lots of worldly wealth.
ਬਹੁਤਾ ਧਨ ਖੱਟਣ ਨਾਲ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਆਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ,
ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਪੇਖੇ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਨਾਟੇ ॥
sukh naahee paykhay nirat naatay.
There is no celestial peace in worldly pleasures.
ਨਾਟਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਚ ਵੇਖਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਹੁ ਦੇਸ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
sukh naahee baho days kamaa-ay.
There is no peace in conquering lots of countries.
ਬਹੁਤੇ ਦੇਸ ਜਿੱਤ ਲੈਣ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।
ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੧॥
sarab sukhaa har har gun gaa-ay. ||1||
But all kinds of joy and peace is attained by singing God’s praises. |1||
ਪਰ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਲਹਹੁ ॥
sookh sahj aanand lahhu.
O’ brother, enjoy the spiritual peace, poise and bliss,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੋ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਹਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaDhsangat paa-ee-ai vadbhaagee gurmukh har har naam kahhu. ||1|| rahaa-o.
in the company of true saints which is received by good fortune and lovingly remember God’s Name by following the Guru’s teachings. ||1||pause||
ਪਰ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬੰਧਨ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ॥
banDhan maat pitaa sut banitaa.
All relationships such as mothers, father, children and spouses are the bonds of worldly attachment.
ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਆਦਿਕ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਹਉ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
banDhan karam Dharam ha-o kartaa.
The religious rituals and good deeds done to satisfy ego are also forms of bonds.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਧਾਰਮਕ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ, ਬੰਦਾ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਪੁਰੀਆਂ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਹਨ।
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਨਹਾਰੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ॥
banDhan kaatanhaar man vasai.
But when God, the destroyer of bonds, manifests in one’s mind,
ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਕੱਟ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਬਸੈ ॥੨॥
ta-o sukh paavai nij ghar basai. ||2||
then his mind remains focused on God and he attains inner peace. ||2||
ਤਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਭਿ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰ ॥
sabh jaachik parabh dayvanhaar.
All of us are beggars and only God is the benefactor.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੇ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਦਰ) ਦੇ (ਹੀ) ਮੰਗਤੇ ਹਨ,
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
gun niDhaan bay-ant apaar.
God is the treasure of virtues, infinite and beyond any estimation.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
jis no karam karay parabh apnaa.
One upon whom God bestows His grace,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਨੈ ਜਨਿ ਜਪਨਾ ॥੩॥
har har naam tinai jan japnaa. ||3||
only that person lovingly remembers God’s Name.||3||
ਉਸੇ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
gur apnay aagai ardaas.
O’ brother, always pray to your Divine-Guru,
ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਵਰ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਿ ॥
kar kirpaa purakh guntaas.
and say: O’ the all pervading treasure of virtues! bestow mercy
ਤੇ, ਆਖਦਾ ਰਹੁ- ਹੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
kaho naanak tumree sarnaa-ee.
Nanak says, I have come to Your refuge:
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ,
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖਹੁ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥੪॥੨੮॥੪੧॥
ji-o bhaavai ti-o rakhahu gusaa-ee. ||4||28||41||
O’ the Master of the universe, protect me as it pleases You.||4||28||41||
ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਓਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੪॥੨੮॥੪੧॥

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਤਿਆਗਿਓ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ॥

Upon meeting the Guru, the one who has abandoned love for duality (Maya),
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
