ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਾ ॥
sabh meh ayk rahi-aa bharpooraa.
God is pervading all beings,
ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਜਾਪੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
so jaapai jis satgur pooraa.
but he alone lovingly remembers Him whom the perfect true Guru inspires.
(ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਹੀ) ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ (ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
har keertan taa ko aaDhaar.
God’s praises becomes the only support of that person’s life,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਰੁ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੨੬॥
kaho naanak jis aap da-i-aar. ||4||13||26||
upon whom God Himself becomes gracious, says Nanak. ||4||13||26||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੨੬॥

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Guru:
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਆਪਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੀ ॥
mohi duhaagan aap seegaaree.
God Himself embellished me, the unfortunate one, with divine virtues.
ਮੈਂ ਮੰਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਣਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ) ਸਜਾ ਲਿਆ,
ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਦੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
roop rang day naam savaaree.
He blessed me with spiritual beauty and His love; He embellished my life by uniting me with His Name.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਰੂਪ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਮਿਟਿਓ ਦੁਖੁ ਅਰੁ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
miti-o dukh ar sagal santaap.
All my sorrows and anxiety have vanished,
ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ,
ਗੁਰ ਹੋਏ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ॥੧॥
gur ho-ay mayray maa-ee baap. ||1||
and the Guru has become my mother and father. ||1||
ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਉ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਗ੍ਰਸਤਿ ਅਨੰਦ ॥
sakhee sahayree mayrai garsat anand.
O’ my friends and companions, there is spiritual bliss in my heart,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਖੀਓ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਓ! ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ- ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੈ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭੇਟੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਕੰਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirpaa bhaytay mohi kant. ||1|| rahaa-o.
because bestowing mercy, my Master-God has met me. ||1||Pause||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਮੇਰੇ ਖਸਮ (-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਜੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭ ਆਸਾ ॥
tapat bujhee pooran sabh aasaa.
The fire of desires has been extinguished, and all my hopes have been fulfilled.
ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ-ਅੱਗ ਦੀ) ਸੜਨ ਬੁੱਝ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਧੇਰ ਭਏ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
mitay anDhayr bha-ay pargaasaa.
The darkness of ignorance has been removed and my mind has been enlightened with spiritual wisdom.
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਹਨੇਰੇ ਮਿਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਅਚਰਜ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
anhad sabad achraj bismaad.
A non stop melody of the Guru’s divine word is playing within me, which is wondrous and amazing.
ਸਬਦ ਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋਕਿ ਅਚਰਜ ਤੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ)।
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਸਾਦ ॥੨॥
gur pooraa pooraa parsaad. ||2||
All this has happened because of the perfect grace of the perfect Guru. ||2||
ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪੁਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਏ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
jaa ka-o pargat bha-ay gopaal. taa kai darsan sadaa nihaal.
Always blissful is the blessed vision of that person within whom God manifests.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੋਪਾਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈl
ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣਾ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
sarab gunaa taa kai bahut niDhaan.
So many treasures accumulate and divine virtues well up within that person,
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਗੁਣ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਭਾਰਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਓ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੩॥
jaa ka-o satgur dee-o naam. ||3||
whom the true Guru has blessed with God’s Name. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ) ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੩॥
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
jaa ka-o bhayti-o thaakur apnaa.
One who realizes his Master-God,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨਾ ॥
man tan seetal har har japnaa.
his mind and body become calm by always remembering God with adoration.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਏ ॥
kaho naanak jo jan parabh bhaa-ay.
Nanak says, those devotees who become pleasing to God,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਬਿਰਲਾ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੨੭॥
taa kee rayn birlaa ko paa-ay. ||4||14||27||
only a very rare person receives the dust of their feet (humble service). ||4||14||27||
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੨੭॥

Raag Bhairao, Fifth Mehl:
ਚਿਤਵਤ ਪਾਪ ਨ ਆਲਕੁ ਆਵੈ ॥
chitvat paap na aalak aavai.
The mortal does not show laziness to think about sins.
(ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਾਪ ਸੋਚਦਿਆਂ (ਰਤਾ ਭੀ) ਢਿੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ,
ਬੇਸੁਆ ਭਜਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਹ ਸਰਮਾਵੈ ॥
baysu-aa bhajat kichh nah sarmaavai.
He doesn’t feel any shame even while spending time with a prostitute.
ਵੇਸੁਆ ਨਾਲ ਭੋਗ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਸਾਰੋ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਮਜੂਰੀ ਕਰੈ ॥
saaro dinas majooree karai.
One performs labor throughout the day for earning the worldly wealth,
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਮਜੂਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀ ਵੇਲਾ ਬਜਰ ਸਿਰਿ ਪਰੈ ॥੧॥
har simran kee vaylaa bajar sir parai. ||1||
but when it is time to remember God he feels as if heavy stone has fallen on his head. ||1||
ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਦੋਂ ਇਉਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਦੇ) ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਲਗਿ ਭੂਲੋ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
maa-i-aa lag bhoolo sansaar.
Being engrossed in materialism, the entire world has strayed from the righteous path of life.
ਜਗਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਭੁਲਾਵਣਹਾਰੈ ਰਾਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aap bhulaa-i-aa bhulaavanhaarai raach rahi-aa birthaa bi-uhaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God Himself has deluded the mortal because of his previous deeds, and now he is engrossed in worthless worldly affairs. ||1||Pause||.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ(ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਵਿਹਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪੇਖਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਬਿਹਾਇ ॥
paykhat maa-i-aa rang bihaa-ay.
Looking at the amusing plays of the Maya, one’s life is passing away.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਚੋਜ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ) ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਗੜਬੜ ਕਰੈ ਕਉਡੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
garhbarh karai ka-udee rang laa-ay.
One imbues oneself so much with love for useless worldly wealth that he indulges in dishonest means.
ਤੁੱਛ ਜਿਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਕੇ (ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਕਾਰ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ) ਹੇਰਾ-ਵੇਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈl
ਅੰਧ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ਬੰਧ ਮਨੁ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
anDh bi-uhaar banDh man Dhaavai.
Bound in the bonds of materialism due to spiritual ignorance, one’s mind keeps wandering in all directions.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਾਰ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਵਲ (ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ਨ ਜੀਅ ਮਹਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥
karnaihaar na jee-a meh aavai. ||2||
but the thought about the Creator does not even enter his mind. ||2||.
ਪਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਯਾਦ ਆਉਂਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਕਰਤ ਕਰਤ ਇਵ ਹੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
karat karat iv hee dukh paa-i-aa.
One endures misery by repeatedly doing only the same worldly deeds,
(ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਤ ਨ ਕਾਰਜ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
pooran hot na kaaraj maa-i-aa.
and his affairs of Maya are never completed.
ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੇ (ਇਸ ਦੇ) ਕੰਮ ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਦੇ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
kaam kroDh lobh man leenaa.
One’s mind remains engrossed in lust, anger and greed,
ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸਨਾ ਵਿਚ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿਚ, ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ (ਇਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਡੁੱਬਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਤੜਫਿ ਮੂਆ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨਾ ॥੩॥
tarhaf moo-aa ji-o jal bin meenaa. ||3||
Like a fish out of water, he agonizes and spiritually dead. ||3||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੱਛੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਤੜਫ ਮਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੁਛ ਲੁਛ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਰਾਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ॥
jis kay raakhay ho-ay har aap.
One whose protector became God Himself,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਆਪ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਗਏ,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
har har naam sadaa jap jaap.
that person always remembers God’s Name with adoration,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
saaDhsang har kay gun gaa-i-aa.
and he always sings praises of God in the company of saints.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੮॥
naanak satgur pooraa paa-i-aa. ||4||15||28||
O Nanak, he has met with the perfect true Guru. ||4||15||28||.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੮॥

ਅਪਣੀ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥
apnee da-i-aa karay so paa-ay.
Upon whom God bestows mercy, receives Naam,
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
har kaa naam man vasaa-ay.
and enshrines God’s Name in his mind.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦੁ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
saach sabad hirday man maahi.
He enshrines in his mind and heart the Guru’s divine word of God’s praises,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
janam janam kay kilvikh jaahi. ||1||
the sins of his countless births vanish. ||1||
(ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਅ ਕੋ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
raam naam jee-a ko aaDhaar.
God’s Name is the Support of one’s life,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਜਪਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰਿ ਲਏ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parsaad japahu nit bhaa-ee taar la-ay saagar sansaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
always remember it by the Guru’s grace: O‘ brother, it shall carry you across the world-ocean of vices. ||1||Pause||.
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਇਹ ਨਾਮ) ਸਦਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਏਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
jin ka-o likhi-aa har ayhu niDhaan.
Those whom God has preordained to have this treasure of Naam,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
say jan dargeh paavahi maan.
they receive honor in God’s presence.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥
sookh sahj aanand gun gaa-o.
O’ my friend, sing praises of God, it would bring spiritual peace, poise and bliss,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰੋ, ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ),
ਆਗੈ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਥਾਉ ॥੨॥
aagai milai nithaavay thaa-o. ||2||
and one who doesn’t have any support in this world, receives support in God’s presence. ||2||.
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਭੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜੁਗਹ ਜੁਗੰਤਰਿ ਇਹੁ ਤਤੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
jugah jugantar ih tat saar.
Throughout the ages, this (remembrance of God) has been the essence of reality,
ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਦਾ) ਤੱਤ ਹੈ ਨਿਚੋੜ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਣੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
har simran saachaa beechaar.
and remembrance of God has been the right thinking.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਊਣ ਦੀ) ਸਹੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਹੈ।
