ਗੁਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਉਚਾਰੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਟੇਵ ਏਹ ਪਰੀ ॥੧॥
gun gopaal uchaar rasnaa tayv ayh paree. ||1||
similarly, the tongue which becomes habitual to sing God’s praises, cannot live without it. ||1||
ਏਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਾਰਨਾ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਭ ਦੀ ਆਦਤ ਹੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜੀਭ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਮਹਾ ਨਾਦ ਕੁਰੰਕ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਬੇਧਿ ਤੀਖਨ ਸਰੀ ॥
mahaa naad kurank mohi-o bayDh teekhan saree.
Just as a deer is so enchanted by the musical tune played by the hunter, that it gets pierced by the hunter’s sharp arrows,
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਰਨ ਘੰਡੇਹੇੜੇ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਇਤਨਾ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ) ਤ੍ਰਿੱਖੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਰਸਾਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਠਿ ਬਾਧਿ ਧਰੀ ॥੨॥੧॥੯॥
parabh charan kamal rasaal naanak gaath baaDh Dharee. ||2||1||9||
O’ Nanak, similarly one who loves God’s immaculate Name, he becomes firmly attached to it as if he is tied to it by a knot. ||2||1||9||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਪੱਕੀ ਗੰਢ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥੯॥

ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਬਸਤ ਰਿਦ ਮਹਿ ਖੋਰ ॥
pareetam basat rid meh khor.
My beloved God abides within my heart.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਗੁਫਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਰਮ ਭੀਤਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਓਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bharam bheet nivaar thaakur geh layho apnee or. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my Master, remove this wall of doubt between You and me and unite me with Your Name. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ।ਮੇਰਾ ਹੱਥ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਸੇ (ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜ ਲੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਧਿਕ ਗਰਤ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਚਾਰਹੁ ਧੋਰ ॥
aDhik garat sansaar saagar kar da-i-aa chaarahu Dhor.
O’ God, this world ocean is full of many obstacles and ditches of vices, bestow mercy and help me climb on to the shore,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਗੜ੍ਹੇ ਹਨ, ਮਿਹਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਕੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਤੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਲੈ,
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਉਧਰਤੇ ਲੈ ਮੋਰ ॥੧॥
satsang har charan bohith uDhratay lai mor. ||1||
keep me in the company of saints and ferry me across the worldly ocean of vices by uniting to Your Name, which is like a ship to cross the world ocean. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਲੈ, ਤੇਰੇ ਇਹ ਚਰਨ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਗਰਭ ਕੁੰਟ ਮਹਿ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਨ ਮਹਿ ਹੋਰ ॥
garabh kunt meh jineh Dhaari-o nahee bikhai ban meh hor.
God, who has saved you in the fire of the mother’s womb, is the only one who can save you in the worldly ocean of wickedness.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਵਿਚ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ (ਡੁੱਬਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਸਕਤ ਸਰਨ ਸਮਰਥ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਨ ਨਹੀ ਨਿਹੋਰ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੦॥
har sakat saran samrath naanak aan nahee nihor. ||2||2||10||
O’ Nanak! God is all powerful, able to rescue those who seek his protection and they do not need to depend upon anyone else. ||2||2||10||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੦॥

Raag Kaydaara, Fifth Guru:
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਬਖਾਨੁ ॥
rasnaa raam raam bakhaan.
O’ brother, always recite God’s Name with your tongue;
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ, (ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ;
ਗੁਨ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ਉਚਾਰੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਭਏ ਕਲਮਲ ਹਾਨ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gun gopaal uchaar din rain bha-ay kalmal haan. rahaa-o.
always sing God’s praises, all your sins would vanish.||Pause||
ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ। ਇਹ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਤਿਆਗਿ ਚਲਨਾ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਪਤ ਕਾਲੁ ਸਿਰ ਪਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥
ti-aag chalnaa sagal sampat kaal sir par jaan.
Remember death is always hovering over everyone’s head and ultimately one departs from here abandoning everything.
ਸਾਰਾ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਹਰੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਇਥੋਂ) ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ। ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ (ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ (ਖਲੋਤੀ) ਸਮਝ।
ਮਿਥਨ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਰੰਤ ਆਸਾ ਝੂਠੁ ਸਰਪਰ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੧॥
mithan moh durant aasaa jhooth sarpar maan. ||1||
Believe that the attachment to perishable things and never ending worldly desires are surely false. ||1||
ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ, ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਚੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕੂੜੀਆਂ ਮੰਨ ॥੧॥
ਸਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
sat purakh akaal moorat ridai Dhaarahu Dhi-aan.
Enshrine in your heart and focus your mind on the all pervading eternal God.
ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਰਬ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ ਕਰ
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਲਾਭੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਸਤੁ ਇਹ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੧॥
naam niDhaan laabh naanak basat ih parvaan. ||2||3||11||
O’ Nanak! God’s Name is the true profit and everlasting treasure, the only thing which wins approval in God’s presence. ||2||3||11||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ ਅਸਲ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ (ਅਸਲ) ਖੱਟੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਚੀਜ਼ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੧॥

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੋ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
har kay naam ko aaDhaar.
The person who relies on the support of God’s Name,
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਨ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kal kalays na kachh bi-aapai satsang bi-uhaar. rahaa-o.
and trades naam in the company of the saints, is not bothered by the worldly troubles and strifes. ||Pause||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਝਗੜੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਕਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਨਹ ਉਪਜਤਉ ਬੇਕਾਰੁ ॥
kar anoograhu aap raakhi-o nah upajta-o baykaar.
No evil thought arises in the mind of the person upon whom God Himself bestows grace and keeps under His protection.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦਹਤ ਨਹ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
jis paraapat ho-ay simrai tis dahat nah sansaar. ||1||
One who receives God’s grace, lovingly remembers Him and the fire of worldly allurements does not consume him. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰੂਪੀ ਅੱਗ ਸਾੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਸੁਖ ਮੰਗਲ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਨ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
sukh mangal aanand har har parabh charan amrit saar.
Enshrine God in your heart, inner peace, joy and spiritual bliss would arise within you; God’s immaculate Name is the essence of spiritual living.
ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲ, ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਖ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣਗੇ; ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਰਨਾਗਤੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਕੀ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੨॥
naanak daas sarnaagatee tayray santnaa kee chhaar. ||2||4||12||
O’ God, your devotee Nanak has sought Your refuge and asks for the dust from the feet (humble service) of your saints. ||2||4||12||
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ !) ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ (ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥੪॥੧੨॥

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਸ੍ਰੋਤ ॥
har kay naam bin Dharig sarot.
Accursed are the ears that do not listen to God’s Name.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਕੰਨ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹਨ ।
ਜੀਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਤਿਹ ਕਤ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੋਤ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jeevan roop bisaar jeeveh tih kat jeevan hot. rahaa-o.
What kind is the life of those who live forsaking God, the embodiment of life itself? ||Pause||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਊਣ ਕਾਹਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਖਾਤ ਪੀਤ ਅਨੇਕ ਬਿੰਜਨ ਜੈਸੇ ਭਾਰ ਬਾਹਕ ਖੋਤ ॥
khaat peet anayk binjan jaisay bhaar baahak khot.
Those who forsake God and indulge in eating and drinking innumerable delicacies, are like the load carrying donkeys.
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਕੇ) ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਹਨ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭਾਰ ਢੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਖੋਤੇ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਮਹਾ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਿਰਖ ਜੰਤੀ ਜੋਤ ॥੧॥
aath pahar mahaa saram paa-i-aa jaisay birakh jantee jot. ||1||
They keep toiling hard for worldly wealth twenty-four hours a day, and get tired like a bull yoked to the oil press. ||1||
ਉਹ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ) ਬੜਾ ਥਕੇਵਾਂ ਸਹਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਬਲਦ ਕੋਹਲੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਜੋਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਤਜਿ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ਜਿ ਆਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਸੇ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੀ ਰੋਤ ॥
taj gopaal je aan laagay say baho parkaaree rot.
Those who forsake God and are attached to other worldly things, suffer and cry in many ways.
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਆਹਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਰ ਜੋਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਨੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਖਉ ਕੰਠਿ ਪਰੋਤ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੩॥
kar jor naanak daan maagai har rakha-o kanth parot. ||2||5||13||
O’ God! with folded hands Nanak asks the gift of your Name, so that he may keep it enshrined in the heart. ||2||5||13||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਨਾਨਕ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਗਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਾਂ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੩॥

ਸੰਤਹ ਧੂਰਿ ਲੇ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਲੀ ॥
santeh Dhoor lay mukh malee.
One who become so humble, as if he has applied the dust from the feet of saints to his fore-head,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਲ ਲਈ,
ਗੁਣਾ ਅਚੁਤ ਸਦਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਨਹ ਦੋਖ ਬਿਆਪਹਿ ਕਲੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gunaa achut sadaa pooran nah dokh bi-aapahi kalee. rahaa-o.
by enshring the virtues of the all pervading eternal God in his heart, he is not afflicted by the vices of the world. ||Pause||
ਅਬਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਰਬ ਪੂਰਨ ਈਤ ਊਤ ਨ ਹਲੀ ॥
gur bachan kaaraj sarab pooran eet oot na halee.
By following the Guru’s word, all his tasks are accomplished and his mind doesn’t waver any more.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਇਧਰ ਉਧਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਡੋਲਦਾ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕ ਅਨਿਕ ਸਰਬਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਜਲੀ ॥੧॥
parabh ayk anik sarbatar pooran bikhai agan na jalee. ||1||
He realizes that there is but one God, who is pervading everywhere in many different forms; the fire of materialism does not ruin his spiritual life. ||1||
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰੂਪਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਗਹਿ ਭੁਜਾ ਲੀਨੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਅਪਨੋ ਜੋਤਿ ਜੋਤੀ ਰਲੀ ॥
geh bhujaa leeno daas apno jot jotee ralee.
Extending support, God unites His devotee to His Name and his light merges with the Divine light.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ (ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਬਾਂਹ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਆਇਓ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਲੀ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੪॥
parabh charan saran anaath aa-i-o naanak har sang chalee. ||2||6||14||
O, Nanak, even when a helpless devotee seeks God’s refuge, then he feels so united with God, as if he is walking with God. ||2||6||14||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਅਨਾਥ (ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਭੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੪॥
