ਅਟਲ ਅਖਇਓ ਦੇਵਾ ਮੋਹਨ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
atal akhi-o dayvaa mohan alakh apaaraa.
O’ eternal, imperishable God, You are fascinating, incomprehensible, and infinite.
ਹੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼-ਰੂਪ! ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਅਲੱਖ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ!
ਦਾਨੁ ਪਾਵਉ ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਰੇਨੁ ਦਾਸਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੨੨॥
daan paava-o santaa sang naanak rayn daasaaraa. ||4||6||22||
O’ Nanak! I wish to acquire the company of the holy people, and the humble service of Your devotees. ||4||6||22||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ-(ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਖ਼ੈਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ ॥੪॥੬॥੨੨॥

Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru:
ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਆਘਾਏ ਸੰਤਾ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਜਾਨੇ ਜਿਨ ਮੰਤਾ ॥
taripat aaghaa-ay santaa. gur jaanay jin manntaa.
O’ my friends, the saints who have the teachings of the Guru, have satiated their desires for worldly riches and power.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ। ਉਹ (ਅਮੋਲਕ ਨਾਮ-ਲਾਲ ਵਿਹਾਝ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਰੱਜ ਗਏ,
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਾਮ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੧॥
taa kee kichh kahan na jaa-ee. jaa ka-o naam badaa-ee. ||1||
Those holy persons who have been blessed with the glory of God’s Name, their spiritual state gets so elevated that it cannot be described.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਇਤਨੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਲਾਲੁ ਅਮੋਲਾ ਲਾਲੋ ॥ ਅਗਹ ਅਤੋਲਾ ਨਾਮੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
laal amolaa laalo. agah atolaa naamo. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my friends, God’s Name is like a priceless jewel which cannot be attained easily and its worth cannot be measured. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਲਾਲ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਿਸੇ (ਦੁਨੀਆਵੀ) ਕੀਮਤ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ,ਜਿਹੜਾ (ਆਸਾਨੀ ਨਾਲ) ਫੜਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦੀ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਵਿਗਤ ਸਿਉ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਮਾਨੋ ॥
avigat si-o maani-aa maano.
But those who have been blessed with the gift of Naam, their mind is appeased with the invisible God.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਲਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਤੀਜ ਗਿਆ,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੋ ॥
gurmukh tat gi-aano.
By following the Guru’s teachings, they understood the essence of divine wisdom.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਲੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਪੇਖਤ ਸਗਲ ਧਿਆਨੋ ॥
paykhat sagal Dhi-aano.
Even while dealing with other people, their mind remains attuned to God,
ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਜਿਓ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੋ ॥੨॥
taji-o man tay abhimaano. ||2||
and they eradicate ego from their mind. ||2||
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਠਾਣਾ ॥
nihchal tin kaa thaanaa.
O’ my friends, those who are blessed with the gift of God’s Name, their mind does not waver for the Maya;
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਲਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲ ਡੋਲਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ);
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਛਾਣਾ ॥
gur tay mahal pachhaanaa.
by following the Guru’s teachings, they realize God’s presence in their mind.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ (ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਜਾਗੇ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੩॥
an-din gur mil jaagay.har kee sayvaa laagay. ||3||
They always remain alert to the worldly temptations, and are committed to the devotional worship of God. ||3||
ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ.ਤੇ, ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਪੂਰਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਏ ॥ ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
pooran taripat aghaa-ay. sahj samaaDh subhaa-ay.
They remain fully satiated from all temptations of the worldly riches, and they intuitively remain absorbed in meditation of God.
ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਰੱਜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਆਇਆ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੩॥
har bhandaar haath aa-i-aa. naanak gur tay paa-i-aa. ||4||7||23||
O’ Nanak, they receive the treasure of God’s Name from the Guru. ||4||7||23||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੩॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਛੋਡਿ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥
chhod sagal si-aanpaa mil saaDh ti-aag gumaan.
O’ my mind, renounce all your cleverness, meet the Guru and, by following his teachings, shed your egotistical pride.
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ (ਢੋਕੀਆਂ) ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ।
ਅਵਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਵਖਾਨੁ ॥੧॥
avar sabh kichh mithi-aa rasnaa raam raam vakhaan. ||1||
Only God is eternal, everything else is false and perishable; with your tounge, recite God’s Name with loving devotion. ||1||
ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ। (ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਰਨ ਸੁਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
mayray man karan sun har naam.
O’ my mind, always listen to God’s Name with ears,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਮਿਟਹਿ ਅਘ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਵਨੁ ਬਪੁਰੋ ਜਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
miteh agh tayray janam janam kay kavan bapuro jaam. ||1|| rahaa-o.
the sins of your many lifetimes shall be washed away, and even the poor demon of death will not be able to harm you. ||1||Pause||
(ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਜਮ ਭੀ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਡਰਾ ਸਕੇ)? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦੂਖ ਦੀਨ ਨ ਭਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
dookh deen na bha-o bi-aapai milai sukh bisraam.
(One who meditates on Name) sorrows , dependence on others and all kinds of fears cannot afflict him and he finds inner peace and solace.
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਦੁੱਖ, ਮੁਥਾਜੀ,ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬਖਾਨੈ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨੁ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੨॥੧॥੨੪॥
gur parsaad naanak bakhaanai har bhajan tat gi-aan. ||2||1||24||
Nanak says that meditation on God’s Name, which is acquired only by the Guru’s grace, is the essence of the spiritual wisdom. ||2||1||24||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥੧॥੨੪॥

ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਹੋਤ ਦੇਖੇ ਖੇਹ ॥
jinee naam visaari-aa say hot daykhay khayh.
O’ my friends, those who have forsaken God’s Name, have been observed spiritually ruined by their vices.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੜ ਕੇ) ਸੁਆਹ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਵੇਖੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਤੂਟਤੇ ਏ ਨੇਹ ॥੧॥
putar mitar bilaas banitaa toottay ay nayh. ||1||
Ultimately, all the revelries and attachments with the family and friends break down. ||1||
ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਮਿੱਤਰ, ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਆਦਿਕ ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ) ਰੰਗ-ਰਲੀਆਂ (ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ)-ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਿਆਰ (ਆਖ਼ਿਰ) ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਲੇਹ ॥
mayray man naam nit nit layh.
O’ my mind, always recite God’s Name with love and devotion.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਜਲਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੂਖੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਦੇਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jalat naahee agan saagar sookh man tan dayh. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who does that, does not burn in the fiery ocean of worldly craving, and his mind and body are blessed with peace and comfort. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਦੇਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ-ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਿਰਖ ਛਾਇਆ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਪਵਨ ਝੂਲਤ ਮੇਹ ॥
birakh chhaa-i-aa jaisay binsat pavan jhoolat mayh.
O’ my friend, just as the shade of a tree disappears, the clouds get blown away by the wind, all worldly pleasures are also perishable and pass away.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਛਾਂ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਛੇਤੀ ਬਦਲਦੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹਵਾ ਬੱਦਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਡਾ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਛਾਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹਨ)।
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਮਿਲੁ ਸਾਧ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਆਵਤ ਏਹ ॥੨॥੨॥੨੫॥
har bhagat darirh mil saaDh naanak tayrai kaam aavat ayh. ||2||2||25||
O’ Nanak, meeting with the saint-Guru, be devoted to God’s worship, because this is the only thing that would accompany you till the end. ||2||2||25||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਪੱਕੀ ਕਰ। ਇਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥੨੫॥

Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru:
ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੁਖਹ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸਤੋ ਨੀਤ ॥
purakh pooran sukhah daataa sang basto neet.
The perfect, primal God is the benefactor of spiritual peace and He is always present amongst us.
ਉਹ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਉਸਨ ਨ ਸੀਤ ॥੧॥
marai na aavai na jaa-ay binsai bi-aapat usan na seet. ||1||
He neither dies, nor takes birth, He is imperishable and is not affected by sorrow or pleasure. ||1||
ਉਹ ਨਾਹ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ। ਨਾਹ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਹ ਗ਼ਮੀ-ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
mayray man naam si-o kar pareet.
O’ my mind, remain immersed in the love of God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖ।
ਚੇਤਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ਏਹ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
chayt man meh har har niDhaanaa ayh nirmal reet. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Always lovingly remember God who is the treasure of all virtues; this is the only way to live an immaculate life. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ। ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਰੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਜੋ ਜਪੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੀਧਿ ॥
kirpaal da-i-aal gopaal gobid jo japai tis seeDh.
God is a merciful and benevolent sustainer of the entire universe; whoever worships Him with love and devotion, spiritually succeeds in life.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ, ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਹੈ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਵਲ ਨਵਤਨ ਚਤੁਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਮਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੀਧਿ ॥੨॥੩॥੨੬॥
naval navtan chatur sundar man naanak tis sang beeDh. ||2||3||26||
O’ Nanak, God is ever fresh, young, wise and beauteous; keep your mind imbued with His Name. ||2||3||26||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਵਾਂ ਹੈ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਵਾਂ ਹੈ), ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰੋਈ ਰੱਖ ॥੨॥੩॥੨੬॥

ਚਲਤ ਬੈਸਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗਤ ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ॥
chalat baisat sovat jaagat gur mantar ridai chitaar.
O’ my friend, in every situation, whether walking, sitting, sleeping or awake, contemplate the Guru’s teachings in your mind.
ਤੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਫਿਰਦਿਆਂ, ਬੈਠਦਿਆਂ, ਸੁੱਤੇ ਪਿਆਂ, ਜਾਗਦਿਆਂ-ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖ।
ਚਰਣ ਸਰਣ ਭਜੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
charan saran bhaj sang saaDhoo bhav saagar utreh paar. ||1||
Joining the company of the Guru, seek the refuge of God and you may cross over the dreadful world-ocean of vices. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਤੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ ॥੧॥
