ਪੰਚ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮਾਰਿ ॥
panch singh raakhay parabh maar.
God has destroyed the five tiger-like evil passions (lust, anger, greed, worldly attachments and ego) from within me,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਪੰਜ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਏ ਹਨ,
ਦਸ ਬਿਘਿਆੜੀ ਲਈ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥
das bigi-aarhee la-ee nivaar.
He has also relieved me from the evil influence of wolf-like ten sense organs.
ਦਸ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਬਾਉ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੀਨਿ ਆਵਰਤ ਕੀ ਚੂਕੀ ਘੇਰ ॥
teen aavrat kee chookee ghayr.
I am out of the swirling vortex of the three modes of Maya (vice, virtue, and power).
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਘੁੰਮਣ-ਘੇਰੀ ਦਾ ਚੱਕਰ (ਭੀ) ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਚੂਕੇ ਭੈ ਫੇਰ ॥੧॥
saaDhsang chookay bhai fayr. ||1||
Associating with the Guru’s holy congregation, all the fears of the cycle of birth and death have also vanished. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਗੇੜ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਭੀ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ॥
simar simar jeevaa govind.
I spiritually remain alive by always remembering God with adoration.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਦਾਸੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirpaa raakhi-o daas apnaa sadaa sadaa saachaa bakhsind. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Bestowing mercy, God has saved His devotee from the vices; forever and ever forgiving is the eternal God. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦਾਝਿ ਗਏ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਪਾਪ ਸੁਮੇਰ ॥
daajh ga-ay tarin paap sumayr.
The mountain of sins of a person burnt down like a heap of straw,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਪਰਬਤ ਜੇਡੇ ਹੋ ਚੁਕੇ ਪਾਪ ਘਾਹ ਦੇ ਤੀਲਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਸੜ ਗਏ,
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੂਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੈਰ ॥
jap jap naam poojay parabh pair.
when he meditated on God’s Name by always remembering Him with adoration.
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਪੂਜੇ।
ਅਨਦ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਸਭ ਥਾਨਿ ॥
anad roop pargati-o sabh thaan.
God, the embodiment of bliss, became manifest in all places to the one,
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸ ਪਿਆ,
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜੋਰੀ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਨਿ ॥੨॥
paraym bhagat joree sukh maan. ||2||
who attuned his mind to the loving devotional worship of God, the gem of spiritual peace. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ॥੨॥
ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰਿਓ ਬਾਛਰ ਖੋਜ ॥
saagar tari-o baachhar khoj.
One (who lovingly remembered God,) crossed over the world-ocean of vices, as if it were no bigger than a calf’s footprint full of water;
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਇਉਂ ਤਰ ਲਿਆ ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਵੱਛੇ ਦੇ ਖੁਰ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੈ;
ਖੇਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਨਹ ਫੁਨਿ ਰੋਜ ॥
khayd na paa-i-o nah fun roj.
he is afflicted neither by any sorrow, nor by grief again.
ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੁਂਹਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ।
ਸਿੰਧੁ ਸਮਾਇਓ ਘਟੁਕੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sinDh samaa-i-o ghatukay maahi.
God becomes enshrined in his heart as if the ocean is contained in a pitcher.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਉਂ ਆ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਇਕ ਨਿੱਕੇ ਜਿਹੇ ਘੜੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਟਿਕੇ।
ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਕਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
karanhaar ka-o kichh achraj naahi. ||3||
This is not such an amazing thing for the Creator-God. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਅਨੋਖੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਉ ਛੂਟਉ ਤਉ ਜਾਇ ਪਇਆਲ ॥
ja-o chhoota-o ta-o jaa-ay pa-i-aal.
When one forgets God, then he feels so depressed as if he is consigned to the nether regions.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਦੋਂ (ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ) ਛੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਪਾਤਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਉ ਕਾਢਿਓ ਤਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
ja-o kaadhi-o ta-o nadar nihaal.
When God pulls that person out of depression, then he feels totally delighted by His glance of grace.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਤਨੋਂ ਮਨੋਂ ਖਿੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਹਮਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
paap punn hamrai vas naahi.
It is not under our control, whether we perform evil or virtuous deeds,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਚੰਗੇ ਮਾੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ।
ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੫੧॥
rasak rasak naanak gun gaahi. ||4||40||51||
O’ Nanak, (those on whom God bestows mercy,) they sing His praises with great love and joy. ||4||40||51||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ) ਬੜੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੫੧॥

Raag Raamkalee, Fifth Guru:
ਨਾ ਤਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਤੋਹਿ ॥
naa tan tayraa naa man tohi.
Neither the body nor the mind dwelling in it belongs to you.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਨਾਹ ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਮਨ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਧੋਹਿ ॥
maa-i-aa mohi bi-aapi-aa Dhohi.
Attached to the love for Maya, you are entangled in fraud.
(ਜਿਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਤੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਦੀ ਠੱਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ।
ਕੁਦਮ ਕਰੈ ਗਾਡਰ ਜਿਉ ਛੇਲ ॥
kudam karai gaadar ji-o chhayl.
You jump around like a lamb is playing with (its mother) sheep,
ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਖੇਡਦਾ ਕੁੱਦਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭੇਡ ਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਭੇਡ ਨਾਲ ਕਲੋਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਜਾਲੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਚਕ੍ਰੁ ਪੇਲ ॥੧॥
achint jaal kaal chakaro payl. ||1||
just as death suddenly casts its net on the lamb, similarly death hovers around everyone. ||1||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਲੇਲੇ ਉਤੇ ਅਚਨਚੇਤ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਜਾਲ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਅਪਣਾ ਚੱਕਰ ਚਲਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਰਨਾਇ ਮਨਾ ॥
har charan kamal sarnaa-ay manaa.
O’ my mind, remain in the refuge of the immaculate Name of God.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਧਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam jap sang sahaa-ee gurmukh paavahi saach Dhanaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Meditate on God’s Name, which is your true companion; but you can receive this eternal wealth of Naam only by following the Guru’s teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ, ਇਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਸਲ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਲੱਭ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਊਨੇ ਕਾਜ ਨ ਹੋਵਤ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
oonay kaaj na hovat pooray.
One’s unfinished worldly tasks never get accomplished;
ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਦੇ ਸਿਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੇ;
ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਮਦਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਝੂਰੇ ॥
kaam kroDh mad sad hee jhooray.
being entangled in lust, anger and intoxicated with Maya, one always keeps regretting.
ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸਨਾ ਵਿਚ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿਚ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਸਚਾਤਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰੈ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਜੀਅਰੇ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥
karai bikaar jee-aray kai taa-ee.
For the sake of one’s body one commits many evil deeds,
ਆਪਣੀ ਇਸ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗਾਫਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਤਸੂਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
gaafal sang na tasoo-aa jaa-ee. ||2||
O’ ignorant mortal, not even an iota of worldly possessions goes along in the end. ||2||
ਹੇ ਬੇਸਮਝ ਬੰਦੇ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਧਰਤ ਧੋਹ ਅਨਿਕ ਛਲ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Dharat Dhoh anik chhal jaanai.
One practices many deceits and knows how to play numerous frauds,
ਜੀਵ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਠੱਗੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਕਰਨੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਉਡੀ ਕਉਡੀ ਕਉ ਖਾਕੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਾਨੈ ॥
ka-udee ka-udee ka-o khaak sir chhaanai.
and he gets disgraced for the sake of every penny.
ਕੌਡੀ ਕੌਡੀ ਕਮਾਣ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ (ਦਗ਼ੇ-ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਦਨਾਮੀ ਦੀ) ਸੁਆਹ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਤਿਸੈ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਮੂਲਿ ॥
jin dee-aa tisai na chaytai mool.
He does not remember God at all, who has given everything.
ਜਿਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨੇ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਲੋਭੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਸੂਲੁ ॥੩॥
mithi-aa lobh na utrai sool. ||3||
And the pain of greed for perishable worldly things never leaves him. ||3||
ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਭ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ॥੩॥
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਜਬ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
paarbarahm jab bha-ay da-i-aal.
When the Supreme God becomes merciful on someone,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲ ॥
ih man ho-aa saaDh ravaal.
then that person’s mind becomes so humble (by following the Guru’s teachings) as if it has become the dust of the feet of the Guru.
ਉਸ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਸਤ ਕਮਲ ਲੜਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਲਾਇ ॥
hasat kamal larh leeno laa-ay.
Extending His support God makes that person as his own,
ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੪੧॥੫੨॥
naanak saachai saach samaa-ay. ||4||41||52||
and then O’ Nanak! he forever remains merged in the eternal God. ||4||41||52||
ਤੇ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਹ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪੧॥੫੨॥

Raag Raamkalee, Fifth Guru:
ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥
raajaa raam kee sarnaa-ay.
Those who come to the refuge of the Sovereign God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼-ਸਰੂਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nirbha-o bha-ay gobind gun gaavat saaDhsang dukh jaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
while singing praises of God, they become fearless and remaining in the Guru’s holy congregation their misery goes away. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਉਹ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਬਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
jaa kai raam basai man maahee.
One within whose mind God manifests,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
so jan dutar paykhat naahee.
does not face any obstacles while crossing the dreadful worldly ocean of vices.
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਔਖਿਆਈ ਨਾਲ ਤਰੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ l
ਸਗਲੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਅਪਨੇ ॥
saglay kaaj savaaray apnay.
That person accomplishes all his tasks,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨ ਨਿਤ ਜਪਨੇ ॥੧॥
har har naam rasan nit japnay. ||1||
who always utters God’s Name with his tongue. ||1||
ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ੍ਹਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਾਥੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਧਰੈ ॥
jis kai mastak haath gur Dharai.
That person to whom the Guru extends his mercy,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਅਦੇਸਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਰੈ ॥
so daas adaysaa kaahay karai.
why should that devotee of God feel any anxiety?
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰੇ?
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕੀ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ॥
janam maran kee chookee kaan.
The fear of birth and death of that person goes away,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਕੁਰਬਾਣ ॥੨॥
pooray gur oopar kurbaan. ||2||
and he dedicates himself to the perfect Guru. ||2||
ਉਹ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਭੇਟਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
gur parmaysar bhayt nihaal.
Upon meeting the divine Guru, one always remains delighted.
ਗੁਰੂ-ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ॥
so darsan paa-ay jis ho-ay da-i-aal.
But only that person experiences the blessed vision of the divine Guru, on whom God becomes gracious.
(ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ- ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
paarbarahm jis kirpaa karai.
One upon whom the supreme God bestows mercy,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸੋ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ॥੩॥
saaDhsang so bhavjal tarai. ||3||
crosses over the worldly ocean of vices by remaining in the congregation of the Guru. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਸਾਧ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
amrit peevhu saaDh pi-aaray.
O’ my beloved saints, partake in the ambrosial nectar of Naam,
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ,
ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਸਾਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥
mukh oojal saachai darbaaray.
you would be honored in the eternal God’s presence.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ।
ਅਨਦ ਕਰਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
anad karahu taj sagal bikaar.
Shedding all evil pursuits, enjoy the spiritual bliss,
(ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ!) ਸਾਰੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਰਹੋ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਉਤਰਹੁ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੪੨॥੫੩॥
naanak har jap utarahu paar. ||4||42||53||
O’ Nanak, you would cross over the worldly ocean of vices by remembering God with loving devotion. ||4||42||53||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਤੁਸੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਉਗੇ ॥੪॥੪੨॥੫੩॥
