ਸਗਲੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਤੂ ਸੋਈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਭਾਇ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
saglee jot jaataa too so-ee mili-aa bhaa-ay subhaa-ay.
That soul-bride recognized your light pervading in all: O’ God! she realized You because of her love for You.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ (ਦੀ ਖਿੱਚ) ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਜਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਸਾਚਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ॥੧॥
naanak saajan ka-o bal jaa-ee-ai saach milay ghar aa-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, we should dedicate ourselves to that beloved God because He becomes manifest in that person’s heart who lovingly remembered Him. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੱਜਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਆ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਘਰਿ ਆਇਅੜੇ ਸਾਜਨਾ ਤਾ ਧਨ ਖਰੀ ਸਰਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
ghar aa-i-arhay saajnaa taa Dhan kharee sarsee raam.
When the beloved Husband-God manifests in the soul-bride’s heart, she truly becomes delighted.
ਜਦੋਂ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਗਟਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਮੋਹਿਅੜੀ ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਦੇਖਿ ਰਹੰਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
har mohi-arhee saach sabad thaakur daykh rahansee raam.
When the divine word of God’s praises captivated her, she got a glimpse of the Master and she became delighted.
ਜਦੋਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖਿੱਚ ਪਾਈ, ਤਾਂ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਅਨੰਦਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਹੰਸੀ ਖਰੀ ਸਰਸੀ ਜਾ ਰਾਵੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੈ ॥
gun sang rahansee kharee sarsee jaa raavee rang raatai.
When God, the embodiment of love, attuned her to His Name, she became very happy and got deeply absorbed in His virtues.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਸਰੂਪ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂਵਿਚ ਅਡੋਲ-ਆਤਮਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਅਵਗਣ ਮਾਰਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਘਰੁ ਛਾਇਆ ਪੂਰੈ ਪੁਰਖਿ ਬਿਧਾਤੈ ॥
avgan maar gunee ghar chhaa-i-aa poorai purakh biDhaatai.
Then God, the perfect Creator, dispelled her vices and made her virtuous.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਔਗੁਣ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਤਸਕਰ ਮਾਰਿ ਵਸੀ ਪੰਚਾਇਣਿ ਅਦਲੁ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
taskar maar vasee panchaa-in adal karay veechaaray.
Then conquering her thieves (vices), she started living like the head of hervillage (body), and dispensed justice after due deliberation.
ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਚੋਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਕਣੀ ਹੋ ਵਸਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਚ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਇਨਸਾਫ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੨॥
naanak raam naam nistaaraa gurmat mileh pi-aaray. ||2||
O’ Nanak, beloved God is realized by following the Guru’s teachings, and the worldly ocean of vices is crossed over by remembering God’s Name.||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਅੜਾ ਬਾਲੜੀਏ ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
var paa-i-arhaa baalrhee-ay aasaa mansaa pooree raam.
The young bride who realized her Husband-God, all her hopes and desires are fulfilled.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਸ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਇੱਛਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈl
ਪਿਰਿ ਰਾਵਿਅੜੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਲੀ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਨਹ ਦੂਰੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
pir raavi-arhee sabad ralee rav rahi-aa nah dooree raam.
She merges with the Husband-God through the Guru’s word, enjoys His company and realizes that He is pervading everywhere and is not far away.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲਿਆ, ਜੋ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਪਦਾ।
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸੋਈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਸਬਾਈ ॥
parabh door na ho-ee ghat ghat so-ee tis kee naar sabaa-ee.
Yes, God is not far away; He is in each and every heart, all beings are Hissoul- brides.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਉਸੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਹਨ।
ਆਪੇ ਰਸੀਆ ਆਪੇ ਰਾਵੇ ਜਿਉ ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
aapay rasee-aa aapay raavay ji-o tis dee vadi-aa-ee.
This is His glorious greatness that He Himself is the source of bliss as well as He relishes the company of His devotees.
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਮਰ ਅਡੋਲੁ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
amar adol amol apaaraa gur poorai sach paa-ee-ai.
He is immortal, unwavering, invaluable and infinite; He is realized through the perfect Guru.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੌਤ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਉਹਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾਉਹ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਜੋਗ ਸਜੋਗੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
naanak aapay jog sajogee nadar karay liv laa-ee-ai. ||3||
O’ Nanak, when He himself creates the circumstances, only then people realize Him; when He shows His grace, only then one attunes to Him. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਦੇ ਢੋ ਢੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪਿਰੁ ਉਚੜੀਐ ਮਾੜੜੀਐ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਆ ਸਿਰਤਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
pir uchrhee-ai maarh-rhee-ai tihu lo-aa sirtaajaa raam.
The Husband-God’s abode is a beautiful place which is beyond the effect of worldly riches and power; He is the Master of the universe.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਇਕ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਮਹਲ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ) ਉਹ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਥ ਹੈ।
ਹਉ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਈ ਦੇਖਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਅਗਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
ha-o bisam bha-ee daykh gunaa anhad sabad agaajaa raam.
Seeing His virtues, I am mesmerized;the non-stop melody of divine word is vibrating everywhere.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ। ਚੌਹੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ (ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰੌ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਰੁਮਕ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੋ ॥
sabad veechaaree karnee saaree raam naam neesaano.
One who reflects on the Guru’s word and performs sublime deeds is blessed with the insignia of God’s Name for acceptance in His presence.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਰੂਪ) ਰਾਹਦਾਰੀ ਹੈ
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਖੋਟੇ ਨਹੀ ਠਾਹਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੋ ॥
naam binaa khotay nahee thaahar naam ratan parvaano.
The false ones, without the insignia of God’s Name, don’t get any place in God’s presence because only the jewel-like precious Naam is accepted there.
ਨਾਮ-ਹੀਣੇ ਖੋਟੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ) ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ। (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਤਨ ਹੀ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ਨਾ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਜਾਸੀ ॥
pat mat pooree pooraa parvaanaa naa aavai naa jaasee.
One who has the perfect insignia of Naam, his intellect becomes perfect, receives full honor in God’s presence and is saved from the cycle of birth and death.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਅ-ਰੁਕ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਪੂਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਉਕਾਈ-ਹੀਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੈਸੇ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥
naanak gurmukh aap pachhaanai parabh jaisay avinaasee. ||4||1||3||
O’ Nanak, one who recognizes one’s true self by following the Guru’s teachings, becomesthe embodiment of the immortal God. ||4||1||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੜਤਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਗੁ ਧੰਧੜੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
jin kee-aa tin daykhi-aa jag DhanDh-rhai laa-i-aa.
God who created this universe, takes care of it and has enjoined the people to the worldly tasks.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਮੀਂ ਕਾਜੀਂਲਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਦਾਨਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਤਨਿ ਚੰਦੁ ਦੀਪਾਇਆ ॥
daan tayrai ghat chaannaa tan chand deepaa-i-aa.
O’ God, it is through Your blessings that someone’s heart is enlightened with divine wisdom, and the moon-like Naam shines in one’s heart.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਨਾਲਕਿਸੇਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,ਅਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਦ ਚਮਕਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸੀਤਲਤਾ ਹੁਲਾਰੇ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ)।
ਚੰਦੋ ਦੀਪਾਇਆ ਦਾਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਉਠਿ ਗਇਆ ॥
chando deepaa-i-aa daan har kai dukh anDhayraa uth ga-i-aa.
Yes, when by God’s grace the moon-like Naam shines in one’s heart, his sorrow and darkness of spiritual ignorance disappears.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਸੀਤਲਤਾ ਲਿਸ਼ਕ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ) ਹਨੇਰਾ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਣ ਜੰਞ ਲਾੜੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਪਰਖਿ ਮੋਹਣੀਐ ਲਇਆ ॥
gun janj laarhay naal sohai parakh mohnee-ai la-i-aa.
Just as a wedding party looks beauteous with the groom only, similarly that soul-bride looks virtuous whom God has found worthy of uniting with Him.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜੰਞ ਲਾੜੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੀ ਸੋਭਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਮਨਮੋਹਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਛਾਨ-ਬੀਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਵੀਵਾਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਸੋਭ ਸੇਤੀ ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦੀ ਆਇਆ ॥
veevaahu ho-aa sobh saytee panch sabdee aa-i-aa.
God, the bestower of bliss, manifests in the heart of that soul-bride, and honorably she unites with Him.
ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਗੁ ਧੰਧੜੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਦੌੜ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਾਜਨਾ ਮੀਤਾ ਅਵਰੀਤਾ ॥
ha-o balihaaree saajnaa meetaa avreetaa.
I am dedicated to those friends, who are not affected by the worldly riches and power and spiritual ignorance.
ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੱਜਣਾਂ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਿਆ ॥੨॥
ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਸਿਉ ਗਾਡਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਅੜਾ ਦੀਤਾ ॥
ih tan jin si-o gaadi-aa man lee-arhaa deetaa.
I keep their company, and have exchanged the thoughts of my mind with them.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦਿਲੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ।
ਲੀਆ ਤ ਦੀਆ ਮਾਨੁ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸਿਉ ਸੇ ਸਜਨ ਕਿਉ ਵੀਸਰਹਿ ॥
lee-aa ta dee-aa maan jinH si-o say sajan ki-o veesrahi.
How can I forsake those friends, with whom I have exchanged the spiritual thoughts of my mind?
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦਿਲੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪੈ ਸਕੇ ਉਹ ਸੱਜਣ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਭੁੱਲਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ।
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਆਇਆ ਹੋਹਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਜੀਅ ਸੇਤੀ ਗਹਿ ਰਹਹਿ ॥
jinH dis aa-i-aa hohi ralee-aa jee-a saytee geh raheh.
Seeing whom I revel in spiritual joy, may they remain close to my heart.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ; ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ।
ਸਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਅਵਗਣੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਹਿ ਨੀਤਾ ਨੀਤਾ ॥
sagal gun avgan na ko-ee hohi neetaa neetaa.
Forever and ever they have all virtues and no vices at all.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਔਗੁਣ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦੇ।
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਾਜਨਾ ਮੀਤਾ ਅਵਰੀਤਾ ॥੨॥

ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੱਜਣਾਂ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਿਆ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਣਾ ਕਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਾਸੁਲਾ ਕਢਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਲਈਜੈ ॥
gunaa kaa hovai vaasulaa kadh vaas la-eejai.
If one has a basket of fragrances, he should enjoy these fragrances;
ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਸ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਡੱਬਾ ਹੋਵੇ,ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਡੱਬਾ ਖੋਹਲ ਕੇ ਡੱਬੇ ਵਿਚਲੀ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਲੈਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ;,
ਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੋਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਸਾਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਝ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
jay gun hovniH saajnaa mil saajh kareejai.
Similarly, if our friends have some virtues, joining them we should share theirvirtues.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਕਰ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
